What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 653

Well gentle desker, here’s a view you don’t often see. I’m writing Christmas cards and I’ve carted them into the lounge because the heater in my workroom has stopped heating. As it is, I feel behind with the cards, so in front of the tv it is!
Ages ago Mr Dunnit rigged up a piece of MDF with some Lino glued to it so that I had a ‘table’ that sits on the arms of my armchair. Brilliant, and used every single day. So that’s my desk. There’s a large glass of lime squash - no ice, no lemon, so definitely not a gin! The scissors on the table indicate that the night before last I was doing armchair working again….weaving in ends and finishing something that will soon be wrapped and off my list, thank goodness. The cards are strewn across the tray thing because of course, I dropped them just as I got to the chair and tried to do too many things with full arms.  You can see the wooden stand that I use for my iPad, and next to that, a tube of gunk that I have to put in my wonky eye every few hours. It replaces the natural gel that prevents horrible painful dryness…it’s a bit like soft Vaseline in consistency and doesn’t make for crystal clear vision I can tell you! This is a scheduled post today, written last night. I’m going to brave the weather, visit my Mama and try to do some focussed shopping. We’ll see! Join me do, show and tell about your workspaces please…as usual! Some sort of routine is very necessary at this time of year!

  3. Fab table! We have one that fits the very old crate furniture and it was always used often. Maybe I need The Hubster to make one for the real sofa. I could use it. My cards are nearly done, but then I don’t make thousands! Have fun with your mama, and shopping (eek) and Happy Woyww!

  4. What a lovely feeling it is to get the cards written and off. Thank goodness for databases and labels is all I can say when this time of year comes around.
Hope you find your Mama in good spirits and you have a lovely time with her. Think I will be cleaning today. Lots of tidying up to do at this home.

  5. That’s annoying about the heater, hope it’s something that can easily be fixed! That shelf has been going for how many years now? It’s a fixture of your house for me, lol, a good place to write cards in the warm. Crazy windy weather here again today but I think other places have had it harder than us.

  6. Sorry to hear about your heater but what a lovely place to sit to craft and write your cards...in front of the telly and fire on days like these sounds perfect.

  9. Hi Julia, Great set up with the home made desk today. Hope it's not as windy where you are. I'm not even sure the dogs will be keen to go out today. I have to be honest that all the presents I've bought this year have come from the supermarket as it's the only place we go. Hope you are successful with your shopping. Happy woyww, Angela x10x

  10. Hi Julia, glad to see you’re enjoying writing your cards. I thought it was a pint of beer at first but it must be the colour of your very useful table.
I hope your Mum’s in good fettle today. Mine improved with the Christmas music; she always loved singing.
Hope you can fix your heater.
Take care, stay safe and happy WOYWW

  11. Good morning Julia and a very windy morning it is here. Sorry about your workroom heater, I hope you can get it fixed/replaced soon. I have drop to put in my eyes when they get sore - oddly enough the middle of the night is the worst time. They are such a relief and they only blur the vision for a few seconds. Have a lovely visit with your mother. Happy WOYWW

  12. Looks like you're in the finishing line now, Julia! It has been pretty wild here overnight but has calmed down a bit. I braced myself for a drenching yesterday on my way to work but escaped with just a little light rain. Hope the weather's being kind to you too today and your visit goes well. Happy #653! xx zsuzsa #14

  14. Happy WOYWW. Good idea to have a 'desk' in the living room. I have one of those little folding tables that I used to use for my diamond painting - the legs go under the sofa or chair, so I can pull it up close. It isn't huge, but ok for any little colouring or journaling projects. I am smug and posted all my cards on the 2nd. I seem to do less each year, which definitely makes it easier. No more sending out over 100 when I was working for the brewery and had a lot of friends all around the country. Ali x #17

  15. I am not going to comment on how clever he is!
I hope you don't get too blown away, or wet, in this weather. I was out in it yesterday . . . . not nice but . . . some things are necessary.
Come home safe, dry off and enjoy writing your cards . . . another tick on the list . . .

  17. Hi Julia! What a great pile pf cards you have! Writing in the cards is my least favourite job. I hate my handwriting and I never know what to say! Hopefully you are better at it than I am. Have fun shopping! Lindart #19

  18. I am totally impressed you are already writing in yours Julia. Hopefully the heater can be repaired/replaced quickly. I tend to write in mine at the kitchen table so, this made me smile to see. ~Stacy #20

  20. I linked and was sooo happy I then disappeared and when I came back...a little later, Computer said.... no! It definitely is me, got in yesterday and This morning so, yay! I spied the robin, so did five for my Wedneday freebie on Wednesday, so that's your fault! And this time, I spied that little gingerbread house. That's going to be my next make. Love a heaped up desk, now off to have breakfast before the grandkiddies wake up...I was warned that could be anytime from 5o'clock to 7...just when I'm not going to bed! Happy very Late WOYWW ((Lyn)) #13
