The desk has seen some action. I was in the middle of a zoom call yesterday when my internet failed, so it shows some bits and pieces that I was ‘working’ on. Using up ephemera and scraps to make some embellishments and journaling pieces. You can just see them next to the sellotape dispenser. When I realised that I wasn’t going to be able to re-join the zoom convo, I started to match photos to scraps in an attempt to put together the start of a scrapbook page, and that’s what is still on my desk this morning.
Now, I know I’m full of opinion, and am given to being bossy, but I really need you all to promise me that you’re taking great care to avoid catching this damned virus. UK news really implies that it’s rampant here and even if you aren’t under orders to lockdown, it would make me feel better if you can. I know about work, I know about relatives that need your attention and I know about children who have to go to school. I’m just asking you to be extra super aware, wear the mask, clean the hands. Do what you’re doing, but do it harder. Please. Oh, and show us your post Christmas desk! Have you managed anything? have you a plan? have you a Looong list of cards required for January birthdays? I’m projecting....
I promise I am taking care. Barely going out this week and don't go back to work till Monday - where we also take lots of care!
ReplyDeleteI am linking and going back to bed for a while and will start visiting some desks in a while... glad your internet came back so you could get your desk published - it looks very busy, muchmore going on there than here. Happy WOYWW
Happy WOYWDW
ReplyDeleteLooks like a busy desk there. I hope you also take care in these time and thank you so very much for this work desk Wednesday and its given me [and will continue to do so] something to focus on in these hard times,
Take care and stay safe.

Lovely to see scrap prep. Lord knows we all have the scraps, right? I, 10 months in, finally understand Covid fatigue. We are being careful as always, but it is so TIRING to have to think about every action. The only slippage has been the occasional doorstep chat, distanced, of course, handing over gifts, and maybe a few more trips to the store for hubby. But that is all stopping. And we are hoping they will delay
ReplyDeleteschool for a week.
Wishing you and all the Woyww deskers a safe healthy happy New Year. See you all when this nightmare of a year is behind us!
Mary Anne
Good morning Julia, glad to see creativity resumes over the festive season, it's certainly helped take my mind off what's happening outside my little dwelling this year more than ever before. We are all doing our bit to keep us, family, friends and neighbours safe even sacrificed what we have been #allowed to do during this horror happening worldwide just to keep those vulnerable around me extra safe.
ReplyDeleteHere's to a safer world around us in 2021 Happy WoywW Tracey #7? x
I am being really good Julia. I am still hoping some sensible news on schools will arrive soon (two weeks extra holiday now then an extra two weeks off the summer holidays to make up and a complete lockdown country wide that is actually enforced) Great news about the Oxford vaccine though. Hope you manage to sort your layouts and that our internet holds out for our family Zoom get together tomorrow evening. Stay safe, happy WOYWW and Happy New Year. Sarah #9
ReplyDeleteOh the thought of having a moveable desk sounds rather appealing glad you are back in the light and shame about the internet letting you down like that. Loving the colour of your "scraps", I find I am living off scraps or stash I've had for years but I did get a couple of 12x12 paper packs in my last jigsaw order from The Works a few weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, yes I know what you mean about the "virus" being rampant especially as I live in Surrey Eeeek. I've been somewhat of a hermit with my husband working from home and son back from Uni since last March. I managed a couple of church services in October and we go food shopping weekly but that's it really. We did go out for a geocache yesterday, half to give the car a run as it dies otherwise and half to get a geocache souvenir but that was all.
Here's hoping 2021 will be a tad easier on the whole. BJ#10
Good morning Julia, I can promise that we are best to stay safe. We hardly leave the house except for shopping once a week, the odd trip to the post office or to see my mum.
ReplyDeleteLaughingly though I’m. It making any promises about actually doing any crafting but I do promise to still put in an appearance with some babble of a an excuse every week.
Stay safe and let’s hope in 2021 we can meet.
Lynn xxx 11
Happy WOYWW and Happy New Year. Great to see a busy desk. It also reminds me I have a photo book to finish designing. Yes, as safe as possible here. I do most of my shopping online and only going out for walks on the farm. Ali x. #12
ReplyDeleteVery good advice Julia!
ReplyDeleteLet's hope the vaccinations also do the trick.
Love your busy desk!
Happy WOYWW Julia. I can assure you I am being good, but my niece’s boyfriend had a test as he was going to his parents for Christmas Day and his 90 year old grandmother was going to be there. He just wanted to reassure his parents, but he tested positive! He had been going to work and had no symptoms. My niece now has it and she is 6 months pregnant! It’s all very worrying, keep safe Angela x #14
ReplyDeleteThanks for being you and being there for us all over this dreadful year we have had (well most of it has been). We are trying to stay safe and well here with just one another for company.
ReplyDeleteOur Christmas was made when our old postie returned for a few weeks over Christmas, it was lovely to see him and his cheery wave (and must be honest, doorstep chat a couple of times - distanced of course).
Sorry about your internet, what a time for it to go down!
You stay safe as well, we rely on you so much for our weekly chit chat over the waves, you certainly brighten our lives and have been a lifeline for us during the pandemic and remain so now.
Happy New Year (hopefully), Bless You Julia, you really are wonderful for us all.
Neet13 xx
Hi Julia, yes we're doing our best too. Managed to make some sort of a Christmas for my mum but only stayed during the day and then came home and that was that really. It felt strange not having dad with us but it went okay. I have a New Year's resolution that I am going to use up all the left over stuff, papers mostly but I kept putting them into plastic folders so I'm going to start getting them out of the box and using them.....well hopefully. Take care my friend and happy woyww, Angela x17x
ReplyDeleteI love the leaf paper. I seem to have a thing about leaf paper and no matter how small the scrap is, it goes in the bit box. We aren't going anywhere. Things we need comes via the postman, Milkman, Amazon or Tescos. Hubby has had his lockdown beard trimmed and his ponytail length cut off thank goodness and we did go for Christmas lunch at sil's, picking up Lady Pam on the way. Sis had been in early to give her breakfast (no carer Christmas Day)and put clothes out for her and told her to be ready but she was still in her nightie at lunch time! Couldn't see grandchildren either even though one had a birthday too. They are only 45 minutes away in Winchester, up to tier 4. We've gone up to tier 3 but Christchurch is still in tier 2. So our little 'bubble has popped!
ReplyDeleteStay safe, keep crafting! ((Lyn)) #19
HNY Julia, a bit early but hey ho. It’s jolly cold here but it looks like you’re able to stay in the warm, craft & watch tv too, what a treat. I always think being bossy is just our way of caring with a touch of assertiveness, and there’s nothing wrong with that! With hugs from a fellow assertive career! Sue #22 xx
ReplyDeleteI don’t think you’ll ever move back to the Dark Side, the light is calling to you too much so the desk will probably stay put! It was lovely to talk the other day though I’m sad your interwebs died, glad to see all is back to normal now (well, when I say normal.....) Yep, Covid fatigue is awful, my great nephew Josh will be one in a couple of weeks and I haven’t seen him yet which I’m sad about.
ReplyDeleteI did like those embellishments you were making, great idea, perfect for slapping on a quick card!
Hugs LLJ 2 xxx
Lovely to see you've been busy. I'm a little late joining in today...but as they say better late than never eh? I'm a little under par so will be quietly reading the blogs from my comfy chair on my iPad but unable to leave comments today.....I will be back soon [I hope].
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Annie x
Looks like you're keeping yourself very busy, Julia! I'm a bit deflated following my daily journaling challenge, might take a bit of a breather - though I hope it won't be the month-long affair it was last year! I hear you about covid - I would gladly batten down the hatches if I could! I just hope my son won't have to go back to school in January! The decision is out of our hands! Let's hope everyone can stay safe - it would be a shame to drop the ball so close to the finish line. Why am using all these idioms LOL? Wishing you and your family a very happy 2021!!! xx zsuzsa #24
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, yes, we all need to be really vigilant now, and not let our guard down. So near, yet so far. Sound reasoning for moving your table back, and can understand him going back into the workshop- nothing has felt 'normal' this year. Rotten having the Internet drop out, hope it wasn't down long. Love and hugs to you both, stay safe, Shaz #4 XxXxXx
ReplyDeleteI am taking so much care you wouldn't believe. I am acutely aware of the risks in the household with 3 kids working so I am not doing anything to put myself at any additional risk. As a wheezy old woman I don't feel I would fare very well. A bit horrified by many of my IRL friends who have almost (but not quite) been deniers. Seeing them get a bit angsty now. You take care too my lovely, ew all need you. Love n hugs, Cindyxx
ReplyDeleteYay! Made it again after Christmas got in the way...
ReplyDeleteYes - being extra careful here, although we did have Morti Jr here for 4 days over Christmas, and she works in a bar, so that's of some concern. However, she went home on Monday night and Mr Morti is now up country with food deliveries.
Other than that, I think I was born to be a hermit. I don't go far these days, and now that the Christmas mayhem is over, my excursions will be limited to dog walking and the once a week food shop (with a couple of speedy visits to the corner shop in between). Between house renovations and covid, I haven't made friends down here much so don't have a social life - although my bestie only lives three miles away, she's a superwoman who has spent the whole year in service to the community. Which hasn't left much time for socialising with her - remotely or otherwise. Heigh ho!
Here's to better 2021!
Hi Julia, that's a very industrious-looking desk. Great idea to use up those ephemera and scraps, I have drawers full of those. Planning to start PL-style scrapping this year, so I will definitely pinch that idea. Happy New Year to you and yours, I'm confident there's light at the end of the tunnel now, but as you say we need to stay on track until this is behind us. Annie C #28
ReplyDeleteIt's now twilight here ! And A WINDY one. Yes we are quite careful, hadn't been out of the house over a week and about 4 I said we need to go for a beer.
ReplyDeleteTruly enjoyed a small group/all distances away, fun and laughs, fresh air was home by 5:30, and we do a lot of washing of hands. Everyone wears a mask if out of a chair or if not eating/drinking. And they really wipe up after one leaves. I was impressed. Things here have calmed a bit. Not many travelled away for the holidays, not many family gatherings. It will be the same New Years Eve/Day. I love your pretty tree, I'm keeping mine up til I can decorate for Valentines end of January. Love the lights. Thanks for the reminder I need to WORK AHEAD on Birthday cards and quit this last minute stuff. HAPPY WOYWW. enjoy THE WELCOMING OF 2021...Ready for a change.
Hi Julia, I have a similar daylight problem in my craft room - it always looks dark and gloomy in the winter months - but nothing I can do about it. It looks a bit brighter today as the sun is reflecting off the snow on the garage and the embankment! I should set to and use up some of my scraps for embellishments- you make it look so easy, but I have zero imagination, so they end up in a drawer, a box or the bin! Such a shame about the Zoom call and your Internet - crafting by Zoom is next best thing to a crop or a workshop! Great time to catch up too. I'm at work shortly- my last working day of the year, then a few days off. Not actually going into work, still working from home, and staying safe. Then 4 days to craft ... or re-arrange my craft room to make space for my yarns that I think are breeding in the corner of the room. Have a lovely week, and thank you for all that you do for us - we really do appreciate it. Take care, hugs Heather xx #30 (again - I've been 30 for a few weeks now!!) Maybe I'll get up super early one day next year and get into single figures lol x
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, you can rest assured that I am taking great care, mainly by staying at home and steering clear of crowded places even if I'm desperate to see my family. As you'll see from my blog, all my pleasures are vicarious - no cuddling puppies and family members going on at all. Not that the Scottish Government would let us .... we have our orders! Nothing for it but to keep crafting - it's been proved, if proof were needed, that it's good for us. Shame about the Zoom call - I'm sure it's good for you too. I imagine it's almost as good as going out to a workshop - well, almost. Take care yourself, follow all that good advice and stay safe. Hugs, Elizabeth #32
ReplyDeleteJulia, your desk looks like mine! LOL BUT, that means we are crafting! LOL All safe on the home front here. I did get together with immediate siblings, but out of towners did not come in nor did we gather elsewhere! I'm with you! Be WISE and smart! It still amazes me how folks don't take this mess seriously, as if the surmounting deaths aren't enough???? Our County is in the red zone again, so most are taking care. Our office is still not open to the public, but I do go to work, but many are working from home. You stay safe as well and Happy WOYWW and New Year! :) Felicia #31
ReplyDeleteI'm in . . . . indoors that is!
ReplyDeleteLike you I am taking down the decs, now it's all over and time to get back to 'normal'!!
Have a good week and stay warm
Christine #33
Hi Julia, looking busy! Glad your internetty is back up.
ReplyDeleteYes I promise. I was told by my respiratory consultant in April that I’d be lucky to survive it so have been shielding ever since. It is scary how fast the numbers are rising even in tier 4. Your blog hop has helped a lot to stave off viral depression, thanks.
Happy new yearr
Stay safe and happy WOYWW
Hugs

HI Julia, We are in a 28 day lockdown in Ontario, so staying in as much as possible (I did go to our craft store to pick up my new journal, curbside, however). Only essential stores are supposed to be open, but a lot of non-essential stores are offering curbside and delivery, so they stay open with a skeleton crew. SO we are doing our best to follow all directions, and I can't see myself going anywhere until my chiropractor in 2 weeks. I hope everyone is following your sage advice as well. Now if we can only get the politicians to obey their own rules...
ReplyDeleteYour desk looks nice and busy, lots to keep you going for awhile! Happy New Year! Lindart #34
Yep like you totally taking care (and have been since 10th March when my rheumy contracted me and warned me!!). Been to a shop once in the past 2 weeks to get some stuff our supermarket delivery couldnt do and thats it. Luckily the allotment is pretty deserted so thats no issue amd my daily walks are country based! Am totally lucky that work allows me to isolate at home and work so thats good. Almost forgot ot was Wednesday as on holiday this week but remembered at the last minute!!!
ReplyDeleteHope all is good with you and taking care
Kyla
Just have to say that disposing of asbestos for householders at our local dump just involved a phone call beforehand, the day before. Although when we got there they had no idea we'd rung!!! Fortunately the Asbestos container was empty so hubby just popped it in with a hand by the guy there. It had been wrapped by the builders who did the roof, so all safe. Other things need to be paid for as hubby has just re-done the downstairs loo and took the old stuff the other week which cost £17. Sorry it is a palaver where you live. BJ#10
ReplyDeleteMy desk will look like yours in a few minutes as I try to catch up on my Design Team projects and the completion of two videos that I promised to send to a manufacturer.
ReplyDeleteI am staying safe here in the U.S.! We have 19 million infected and over 400K deaths. Still, there are folks walking around pretending that this is just a joke! Somewhere in the great beyond, George Orwell is just shaking his head and saying, "...and it isn't like I didn't try to warn them!"
Good luck with your birthday cards and I wish you a happy and prosperous New Year! Thanks for this wonderful and safe crafting space!
Hugz,
Chana Malkah
Yes we need to be so careful now, I promise I am being! Love the idea of putting various bits and pieces together to make journalling or embellishments - such a good idea. Happy WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. Praying for a happy and blessed New Year for you and yours. With love & God Bless. Caro x (#16)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year dear friend! I have appeared again. I see you keep yourself busy with crafting during these strange times - I am glad we have this hobby! Keeps you sane!
ReplyDeleteLove and hugs,
Cardarian
We’ve been careful from the start Julia due to our age and Norrie’s diabetes. Some friends think we are too cautious but it’s our choice and we feel safer that way. Best wishes for 2021 to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteI'm keeping the Christmas decorations up as long as possible (12th night)
ReplyDeleteOur Christmas passed quietly and we had a family zoom call on Sunday. There were plans for walks with sons separately but they are now being shelved. We went out for a quick circular walk in the snow yesterday and didn't encounter anybody but as we went past the children's playground noticed that it was quite busy.
For now we are still having food deliveries - we tried a couple of 'Click and Collects' in the Autumn(and I even went in for something not on the list) but went back to deliveries.
Having been to the local mall for a couple of items we were on pins waiting for the two weeks to be up to feel safe again - won't be doing that for a while either!!!
I do wish folk would be more careful but from news items we see there are plenty who don't!!
Stay safe, hugs, Chrisx
Whoops, forgot the number again - 38!! Chrisxx
ReplyDeleteYou are so good at multi-tasking! I cannot talk and craft at the same time without making errors. (let alone adding Zoom visuals!) I tape and glue things in the wrong places, cut in the wrong places or cut wonky! Then have to trim and trim some more....
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Dear Lady!
Kathryn #36
The virus is pretty rampant here in Arizona, too. Mandatory masks and curfew.
ReplyDeleteBusy desk!
Happy New Year!
Carol N #27
Happy New Year, Julia!
ReplyDeletePeace,
LuLu
Happy New Years Julia,
ReplyDeleteYep, things continue to be crazy everywhere, hopefully though this will be on the way towards the end of it sooner or later since people are being vaccinated now. Love the leafy print peeking out from under everything else on your desk too :) ~Stacy #41
Gosh that's one busy area. How did we manage without the internet years ago. Wishing you a better 2021 and keep up the good work WOYWW has been a lifeline over 2020. Ani
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, A very busy desk as normal.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about everyone needing to take extra care. I hope you and your family keep clear of the virus. Sue
Your desk looks good and busy as always, Julia. Sorry you've had internet woes - that's a real pain! It's only when it goes down that we realise just how much we depend on it, don't we. Thank you for your visit and I'm glad you liked my various bits and pieces this week. Yes, there's a lot of fabric in the dress. I really noticed it when I was stitching around the hem - it went on for miles! We used to have a fabulous fabric shop in Plymouth where we used to live and I was devastated when it closed.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated WOYWW and happy New Year,
Shoshi #25
