What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 548

Well gentle Deskers, welcome to December. Season of goodwill and enormous workloads. Please be kind to yourselves; remember that this Wednesday thing in particular, is so flexible and so full of understanding that as long as we know you’re OK and not missing through sickness or stress, you should dip in and out as pressure permits. It’s unrealistic to expect 100% visiting, so do what you can, be calm, be comfortable and enjoy the run up. Feels like a run up to a long jump, huh! So, look at me -
I’m in a state of near tidy! Allow me to show you around....the little square box at right, behind the scissors contains tiny candy canes, about an inch and a half. I’m tying them onto gift tags as I wrap. And I’m wrapping as I buy. For years I’ve fixated on the finish of the shopping, then spent I don’t know how many hours just wrapping. No pleasure there; this little and often thing is much better.
At the left is a pile of Christmas cards: I’m ready to write! There’s about three gifts partially hidden next to them, and then weirdly, a lot of star shaped cookie cutters glued to silver glitter paper. They are at step one and after a couple more steps, will be hanging gifts for the staff at my Mama’s care home. Different sizes, but I couldn’t get the number I needed unless I bought sets of three, so am hoping that some will want smaller than others for their tree! I’m getting used to the lack of daylight. Largely because I’m actually dragging stuff round to the table and working in the new room when the skies are bright! So, if you’ve time to share please link your WOYWW post here, as usual.

  6. Morning Julia, I wasn't sure i'd have chance to join and share today as i'm on catch up after recovering from that darn flu but my inner self said go for it whilst nursing my morning cuppa. You look and sound very organised and wrapping as you go oh my... I've yet to find where i've hidden some of my gifts, a game/job for the weekend.
I'm intrigued about those glued down cookie cutters?!

  7. That's a well organised desk Julia, I like the idea of wrapping as soon as you buy, makes sense. Will try next year.
Thanks for continuing to host WOYWW even if some of us are a bit intermittent about joining.
    Bless you
    Chris

  8. Good Morning,,,wee hours of the day here. I too miss your bright window, but I love the process of what's been happening for you. I'd not be able to cope with a house make over ! Getting a new refridge about did me in.
Now 2 things I've got to do (a little Christmas decorating at Mom's care home also, wrap and mail gifts to East coast) then I can start Cards, baking for church cookie walk. And the anxiety set in !!!! Have a great week

  9. Well it looks like you’ve cleared the decks this week ....it all looks ready for something important. Mine now has a shirt to make a Memory cat on it and I’ve cleared my decks ready for 3 Memory bears to arrive in an hour! Busy days πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  10. Just read what Helen said. I had no idea that Christmas day was a Wednesday now I shall have to give that some thought. Your desk looks good considering what you've had to put up with but it will be worth it.....I keep telling myself this. Have a happy and hopefully creative woyww, Angela x12x

  13. It's a good idea to wrap as you buy - why haven't I thought of that? Then again, I haven't got that many presents to wrap but still! Love the idea of the little candy canes - I haven't seen those in the shops. Happy wrapping! Will be joining later today! xx

  16. Hi Julia, Well knock me down with a feather:) Thought I got the wrong blog when I saw such a tidy desk:) LOL

  19. Wise advice, Julia. We are all so busy in December - it can get a bit too hectic if we let it so I'll take heed and just do what I can, and not let go what I can't. That doesn't mean we can get out of writing those cards - like you, I'm ready to write! I'm intrigued by the cookie cutters - do show us the finished project when done. Have a good week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #19

PS: I'm sitting here in the half-light of a winter's afternoon, the rain has stopped and the sky is stunning. xx

  20. Thanks Julia for assuring us that dipping in and out is okay. I’ve nothing to show this week but I’ll be on a workshop at the weekend so I’ll be back next week.
Stay well everyone. See you soon xxx

  21. I love the idea of little candy canes on the presents. I think wrapping as you buy would be a very good idea, except I would have to be extra organised and write down what I have bought as I tend to forget. I have to confess that my daughter in law has done most of my wrapping so far :) I have made a small start on my cards. Have a great week x

  22. Love your organisation of wrapping as you buy. I am not that organised! I usually wrap in one massive go with Christmas music playing loudly (I try and do it when Alex is at school although it doesn't always work that way). I haven't started my cards yet. This year it is sadly mostly going to be shop bought - no time to make more than one or two. Happy WOYWW. Take care, With Love & God Bless Caro xx (#5)

  23. Good morning, Julia! I’ve been crafting, just not posting. I have to use Instagram to post with you.....but the folks I’ll be mailing Christmas cards to follow me on Instagram... Must say though, it’s not a pretty sight! Little bits and snippets of paper and card can just about reach up to my ankles now!
    Happy Wednesday

  24. yes, that is what I am doing wrapping as I go along, and for ds's girlfriend (that we will meet for the first time at Christmas, I am making tags for her loot as I go along too) ( I tend to put initials on tags and make my family reuse them haha) I can totally see you taking projects to where the sunlight is to create. ~Stacy #27

  25. Looking forward to seeing the finished stars. Your desk is very tidy today but my entire house seems to be overrun with crafting for Christmas!

  26. Your desk looks nice and productive! I also wrap after buying, because on the few times when I wrap as I go I actually forget what I bought! I add post it notes, but sometimes even then - what DVD? What book? I need to be more specific! I have even had to unwrap on occasion to figure out what the present is and who it's for! But I think the time for wrapping is soon, as I have almost bought everything. The stars sound intriguing! Have a great week! Lindart #26

  27. awesome looking desk! I thought I had joined the group last month but obviously didn't so I did today. I told myself I was going to try and do better since I have been missing the weekly chat! I have not had a good year so hope this will help me through next year! Merry Christmas! Vickie
