What's On Yoour Workdesk? Wednesday 355
This is scheduled. I'm not any more ill dear deskers, I just know that at 6am tomorrow I'll be asking myself why I got out of bed when I don't work anymore and could schedule this. Let's hear it for bone idleness! The thing about sitting at your computer in late afternoon sun is that it shows up every speck of dust in your home, and makes your windows look filthy. I might learn to schedule in the dark from now on!
I went to a crop last Saturday and decided to try to finish the LO you can see. It's actually no further along because I still don't know what I intend for it....I'm used to formulaic one photo layouts, so this is proving rather difficult! On the right in front of the acrylic drawers is a roll of printed tape. It says lovely things about sending love and good wishes and I was drawn to it because of that. And because of the fonts. And because it is printed tape. OK. It was £12. (17 $). I bought it with a bunch of other stuff at Christmas so sort of didn't notice till I used it yesterday. Most expensive tape ever? In this house for sure. Don't tell Mr D! There's a little tiny tin on the right too, with a money box type lid. Its the first of this year's Christmas stocking fillers. I know. Yes, I'm smug about it, you would be too!
So show us what you're up to will you, I need scrapbook help this week!
Put WOYWW in your post title and link here....thank you very much. Especially for the support. You lot are better than any bra.
I hope you find what you're looking for on your scrapbook page... it's quite a busy background paper isn't it... lots of matting and layering I think! I am sure the printed tape will be cherished and stroked now you realise how much it was!
ReplyDeleteWe sure are! A triple reinforced support that is uplifting ( though still non wired for my personal preference😃). Am up at crazy hours this morning due to Ravens tap dancing outside my window, wearing hobnail boots by the sound of it!!
ReplyDeleteHugs, LLJ 1 xx

ReplyDeleteYour secret is safe with me ....I took the vow of silence when I was a nurse ;-). We all need a treat now and then and if tape is your only guilty secret then you are allowed that one.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good week. Sending you healing hugs,
Annie x
Had a huge chuckle about the support comment at the end Julia :D
ReplyDelete.. and yes can relate to the late afternoon sun does show it all up... even when just washed the car it looks streaky and not so grand after all!
Well done on attempting to scrap my desk too has come to a screaming halt and been static for days!... praying for you each day, and for all matters concerning your health.
Happy WOYWW! Shaz in Oz.x # 8
{Shaz in Oz – Calligraphy Cards}
Sorry too many spelling mistakes in my first comment hence I deleted it. What I was trying to say was that multi photo layouts are never easy and yours looks likes it's got quite a few so good luck with that, will look forward to seeing how it turns out.
ReplyDeleteThanks to Jan's comment above I am now picturing what bra's we would be! Some supportive, some a bit padded, others quite colourful and some of us not as bright as we used to be and a bit grey and faded at the edges!!!!
Kyla #10
I also have the same issue when the sun is low, you see all the dust and i need to vacuum or clean the windows, i should come home a little later :) happy WOYWW, Vicky #9
ReplyDeleteFirst time I have been likened to a bra! Mind you reading what Kyla says above I can see that we might just be the variety she talks about.
ReplyDeleteWell, I have not a clue about the scrapbook LO, sorry I can not be of assistance, it has just dawned on me why I find it difficult when I a doing a Finnabair type canvas - I am no scrappper. Mind you, at the moment I don't think I am anything apart from an avid reader. Just checked how many books I have on my Kindle and it came to a grand total of 171 - not all read and not all likely to be. But ... I must stop buying.
Sending healing thoughts to you.
Hugs too, gentle ones of course
Neet 12 xx
Never mind the dust, I can see better in the light and I've got that disease now called desk envy. Only cured by acquiring the things have on their desks like the book on the iPad stand, the tape and the tin.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if there's such a thing as Desk Seekers Allowance I could apply for. Or what about Dust Collectors Allowance I'd definitely qualify for that with all the stuff I've got. Omg my head has gone into daft mode, I'll be at this all day now.

Good morning sweetie, I hope you managed a lie in - the whole joy of scheduling posts is that it doesn't interfere with normal life as it were! As for the page you've started but got stuck on, why not grab a multi photo sketch to get your mojo going - there are hundreds on pinterest?
ReplyDeleteI'd probably go for cutting a frame out of the paper under the photos and make the central part plain so the photos pop and then I'd probably go a third of the way in from the left or up from the bottom and offset them in a group, lots of additional embellishments and it would be good to go, I might even stamp the plain background with a couple of texture stamps as a base. Hope the above helps!
Hugs
Just here to offer scrap page advice, can't link up because wrist won't let me visit and type at all the desks. Looks like lots of little photos... so maybe the answer is to make them the frame? Use them in a square with a focal point of sorts in the centre (maybe a larger pic or some journalling or the title). OK, that is all I can come up with! Hope you are feeling better and managed a lie in of sorts.... I am always awake with the larks because I have a cat that thinks he is my alarm clock!
ReplyDeleteHope you gain inspiration for your layout soon. Well done on making a start on buying stocking fillers - I try to do that and then put them away safe only to forget where that safe place was.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear you are not feeling any worse and hope you are soon feeling BETTER!
ReplyDeleteJust added my linky
Kathyk
Lovely seeing your desk in the sunlight. Hope you managed a lovely lie-in this morning.
ReplyDeleteThe tape looks interesting.
I'm like Linda - if I buy stuff too early I put it away and then can't find it.
Lots of (((hugs))) heading your way.
Toni xx
Good luck with the page xx My windows ARE filthy!! Glad ou are not any worse ((hugg)) Hope you enjoy the layin - Mine will be next week as its end of term soon xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, Glad you are doing ok and got to the crop. Hope you work out what you want on the LO.
ReplyDeleteYou take care. Sue
Hi Julia, I think it's better not to think about the price of the tape and just use it. I have several things that were expensive to buy and put them on one side for something special then years later come to use them and they've lost their stickiness or faded so I say just get on with it and make good use of the money you've spent Lol!
ReplyDeleteHappy woyww, Angela x 23
HI Julia, well it's my day off and I only just rolled out of bed at 9am ... because I can haha! You go for it, give yourself a break. hehe I have a guilty secret roll of really wide tape too, it's all bright colours and funky cats wearing glasses and I couldn't resist it, but it was stupid expensive compare to what I would usually spend - but hey, if it lifts our spirits every time we look at it, then it's money well spent :o) Take good care of yourself and good luck with the scrapping! Annie C #24
ReplyDeleteHi Julia - glad you decided to have a lie in!!!! we are all entitled to a splurge now and then - use your tape!!! I have same issue re sun and windows but gave up worrying about stuff like that :-) :-) Thanks for the smile re the 'bra' comment. Anne x #24
ReplyDeleteGood for you for not getting up at 6! Scheduled is fine. I usually take my photo in the evening anyway. (not this morning, that's why I'm late. I don't do 6 o'clock either)
ReplyDeleteI like you stocking filler. That's the way to do it. Keep a box hidden somewhere and buy things throuout the year. Just don't forget where you've hidden it. (that happened to me once)!
I like your page. Come back to it after a few days and you might get inspired.
Have a good week,
Happy Easter,
Lisca
I tried scrapbooking long ago and quickly decided it was not for me. Anyone doing it gets a big bow from me for sure! Leave it sitting for a bit and maybe when you come back it will hit you what you want to do! Sending you well wishes and big hugs from across the pond. Spring is coming to East Tennessee! Glenda #27
ReplyDeleteMorning Julia, I am envious of your scheduling, I don't seem able to master it. However since I didn't get round to writing a post until Wednesday morning it wouldn't have help today.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about things like that tape, it looks so good in the shop and so you take a chance and then it glares at you!!! 'I was expensive, use me for something special' and you fell guilty to the tape if you use it on anything in case it doesn't measure to the tape high standards. Promise not to tell Mr D that it cost a few pennies more than most tape you would buy.
Bless you
Chris
That's some tape. But it looks like there's a lot of it. And it's wide. So per square inch it's probably a great deal! Lol.
ReplyDeleteKeeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
Diane - WOYWW #32
Good morning, Julia. A bra? Now that's an idea. Glad you really feel we are supportive... and I just LOVE Kyla's suggestions. Think I'm now officially of the older greying variety..
ReplyDeleteLike that tape - and oh my, the first stocking filler?! Now, I know I've been posting Christmas cards.... but I've not yet thought about presents...
Take care dear one.
God bless.
Margaret #35
Aaaahhh, a scrapbooking layout... I haven't made one for years. I would have problems adding multiple photos too - I too was (am?) a 'one photo scrapper'... now that I think of it, it would be fun to try my hands on an 'old fashion layout' again. Good luck and have fun creating yours Julia! Hug from Holland, Marit #37
ReplyDeletehello - 34 G here! We all need a bit of support from time to time - well at my size it's more than a bit of support! Take care and enjoy your crafty moments - I love the LO backing paper - my colours. x Jo
ReplyDeleteOh don't worry about the dust it will still be there later. I think we have all be caught with buying a very expensive craft item and then you almost feel to scared to use it LOL.
ReplyDeletesandra de @27
those expensive tapes sure can be sneaky in you christmas basket! at that price i sure hope its usable and not a dud like a lot i've had, I've learnt some valuable lessons where tape is concerned #37
ReplyDeleteI do love your process of creating a layout. Your desk looks so inviting. Hehe you did make me chuckle with the bra support!! Take care Zo xx
ReplyDeleteThat is one expensive tape, but I'm not being judgmental, because I've spent more than I should have at least once or twice before. It's ridiculous how expensive some art supplies can be. Therefore, most of what I have I've gotten during sales, with discount coupons, or on clearance. By the way, I'm sharing more than my desktop today, since I have pictures of my studio too. Blessings, my friend!
ReplyDeleteYour comment about the bra cracked me up! Hope you enjoyed your lie in this morning. Take care, Cara x
ReplyDeleteMorning Julia, yes, it's still morning and I'm here - whatever next! I have problems creating layouts with more than one photo too so I look forward to seeing what you create with those you have out. I like the pretty patterned paper you have out. Your secret is safe with me - I've signed and I'm bound by the Official Secrets Act :) As they are magnificent feats of engineering, I think you would find my bras every bit as supporting as we are dear Julia. Have a good day. Hugs, Elizabeth x #46
ReplyDeleteYes, it was a thick and large tape. With good message. Sometimes you have to treat themselves with the best. :)
ReplyDeleteThe small box with your LO I like. So you will not scatter all the things on worktable.
Have a super nice day despite the dust. It is just as dusty here!
Hugs
Sussie
Good morning, sweet Julia. Don't worry about the dust on window sills. Adds character.. as long as the dust knows its place and does not try to mix with your fun stuff on the desk ;-)
ReplyDeletepretty paper you have in mind for the LO. When I do multiple small pictures, I usually think in 'film strip'. Either using them down the outer edges of the pages with a focal picture near the center of the page for balance. My other option is usually a continuous row across the middle of the layout. Hope you find what works for you.
Creative Blessings and hugs! Kelly #49is
Goof Morning and Happy WOYWW Julia. I smiled about how you tuck things in the stocking as I do the same thing. Glad to hear that this has been a better week for you. I love the window in front of your desk and it is very tidy this week. I always get stuck on layouts there is times it has taken me weeks to get one done and if I get super stuck I peek around Pinterest and grab ideas that might work out for me and what doesn't work I now have 2 little boxes of embellisments I made never used.lol Oh yes dust that reminds me it is spring cleaning time I also have that problem and trying to start but just haven't seemed to get those little dust bunnies evicted from the house yet. Hugs~Anne L #7
ReplyDeleteI hope your scrapbook page works out. It isn't always as easy as it sounds! I seem to spend ages just trying to get everything right. That's probably why I don't do it very often and my poor photos are sitting neglected. I love taking the photos but afterwards, not so organized!
ReplyDeleteSharon k #51
Well I don't even need the light to be at a particular angle to see my dust...it's plain for all to see whatever the lighting!! But I have a happy toddler and time to sew, so we can't have it all can we?! I think it's nice to have a handful of little luxuries so don't feel guilty about the tape! Happy crafting, Max #52 :-)
ReplyDeleteI wish I could help with your layout, but I am not a scrapbooker. I've tried, but I never seem to finish the book...Christmas stocking fillers already - yes you should indeed feel smug. I never notice this dust you speak of or dirty windows. All I ever see is a desk with a view (sob). Cx #54
ReplyDeleteLOLOL, too cute banter about your printed tape! I totally get you, in fact, it was the very thing I spoke about (about myself) on my blog today! We are gluttons for ALL things yumminess!!! LOL Good luck with your project, sometimes we have to just step back and......go to the craft store! LOL Just kidding! :) Blessings
ReplyDeleteIt's always so interesting to see your desk - so much to discover. Now that I don't need to get up early, scheduling sounds like a good idea. My posts are just late - lol. Glad to hear you are getting out and not feeling worse. Do take care.
ReplyDeletewait, maybe I have not had enough coffee yet this morning... what is a stocking filler?
ReplyDelete~Stacy #59
Well that is an expensive tape for sure and sometimes you just have to buy one thing a little bit expensive and it's the little black dress on your craft table that makes you smile when you use it. I'm sure he would be fine with it
ReplyDeletejust tell him it's 1.2 not 12. lol
Have a wonderful day
hugs Nikki 7
Scheduling a post makes life so relaxing till blogger botches it lol
Hi Julia, great idea to schedule. Why get up if you don't need to. And windows- yes, I think if I got mine cleaned, theres a good chance I'd get at least an extra hours daylight!Pretty sure I'd have fallen for that reel of tape too. Looks ace from here. You be as smug as you like over Christmas presents- I may have cards on the go, but presents are definitely not happening till the last minute. Would spoil a great tradition. Lots of love & hugs, Shaz xxx
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW. Hope you have had a relaxing and possibly crafty day. I am no help with scrapbooking. I still have not done any physical pages - just the digital stuff I did last year. £12 for a roll of tape! Well, I could say in its defence that it is a big roll, far bigger than the usual washi tape which I pay around £2-3 per roll. Ali x #63
ReplyDeleteLoving the cover on that item on your Ipod holder. And that is big tape, how fun haven't seen that around here. Sometimes it's best not to look at the sale slip, it is a scary thing. Enjoy the goodies. Visiting quickly, winds and ice so no doubt will lose electricity. Happy week ahead. BE SAFE this world is unstable, 4 from our little town were in Spain...travelled to Belgium and now in wonderment as what to do.
ReplyDelete....as they say...what a beautiful mess. Love your cosy spot and all of your markers! I just put in several orders last week for new supplies and markers was one of them. :D
ReplyDeleteI don't know why I'm having such a hard time publishing a comment today--it's just been a day! But sorry I'm late with it. I think it's amazing that we are all going to go through this bump in the road with you. I hope this surgery comes soon, and by summer you are out in the garden dancing, and at the craft desk a scrappin'! And by the way, I love that idea of starting a Christmas stocking tin to save up...totally stealing that. Hugs dearest! Sandy Leigh
ReplyDeleteHi Julia. I schedule all my WOYWW posts. Why not you too! I went back a few posts and read about your tumor. I'm sorry to hear this but am thankful that it isn't malignant.
ReplyDeleteI had to zoom in on that tape. I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice the price of something after the fact.
Take care of yourself. You have a lot of love coming your way.
Hugs
Kay
I'm praying for your upcoming surgery and a total recovery. Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteCarol N #50
It's been a while Julia, but thought I'd pop along as it is still Wednesday, just, and my desk is quite a state and just made a card from a freebie. BJ #69
ReplyDeleteSorry didn't get to read your post until I'd managed to post my blog and the link all on my tablet!
ReplyDeleteI usually do multi photo scrapbook pages, could I offer any help with yours perchance? I've posted most of mine on my blog of that is any help. Hugs BJ
I like seeing daylight through your windows. That tape looks great. I would buy it too. I haven't made a LO in sooo long. good luck with yours.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about fiddling with multi-photo layouts! I could agonise over the placement of the photos forever - at least with a one-photo L/O the possibilities are limited. That tape looks lovely! Considering how much the smaller rolls cost, it wasn't that expensive at all! I find it funny how we sometimes talk behind our hubby's back about our spending habits, knowing darn well that they will never read our blog, LOL! Hope you're holding up ok, Julia. I missed this week, but hopefully will be back next Weds.
ReplyDeleteso glad to be better than a bra...
ReplyDeletethanks for the earlier visit and such kind words. I'm number 67 this week, so there are a lot of places to visit.
Take care and happy WOYWWW
ENJOY Pat #67
Look at all that lovely sunshine! There was dust? Ah well.... I didn't notice. That tape is pretty special looking so it very well may be worth that price even if it is a bit eye popping. PJ #61
ReplyDeleteWell, I have a tip in my linked post about applying ribbon straight, does that help with the scrapping? Have a Blessed Easter! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI sometimes take weeks just pushing photo's around on a LO before I am satisfied and other times it happens almost immediately. We shall never again mention the expensive tape! We all have those hidden away somewhere, too afraid to use all of it, because it was so expensive, but oh so pretty.
ReplyDeleteHappy very belated WOYWW!
Tertia #62
Love your paper, the layout has a lot of promise! Thanks to you and LLJ my tea cozy ideas are threatening to turn from gnomes and mushrooms to a peach colour ball cover for the pot and a removable willie warmer (for the spout) lol.
ReplyDeletegreat post today. I am always in awe of your stamina and drive! I can't offer any advice cause I am brainless at the moment cause medication changes and a lot of pain. Haven't don't much creative anything in 6 months! No post this week just thinking of you an dhoping all is well in your world. Vickie
