Well there we were, trundling down the A303 in the van, going towards the M3, heading for a cute village that is now further enhanced by some of our windows. Ahem. I'm the assistant, obviously, in view of my status as Apprentice. This means when we're both in the van that I don't have to drive. So as the only passenger I enjoy the luxury of a double seat and frequently fall asleep. It was only because it wasn't an early start that I wasn't asleep. And therefore didn't miss this truck full of unstripey zebras.
There was a deal of scrabbling to get my gloves off and find my 'phone, but Mr Dunnit is not the husband of a scrapbooker for nothing - he slowed down as much as he could, and was instantly saying that I shouldn't expect too much as the van windows were grubby and the speed, however slowed, might blur the pictures. But I'm really pleased with them!
Share my pain..this post might be in different typefaces - we have a new computer and I can't bend it to my will yet. Argh.
what a great surprise to see these - even more had they been coming FROM the stripe painter, maybe lol!!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that perhaps they're going somewhere for sponsors to decorate, like the Salisbury barons and the rhinos of Southampton....?
ReplyDeleteYou're never too late so please link up. I bet you really thought you were dreaming hehehe you will be desperate to know where those end up.....I know I would. I'm so glad you got a pic cos to be honest we really would have struggled to believe you :-) :-) :-)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Annie x
Ooh the tempation to follow them would have been too strong for me

That's brilliant Julia and don't mind it being a day late.
ReplyDeleteIt reminded me of one that happened to us on the motorway when a boat on a trailer came past us, it had somehow released itself from the car that was pulling it but we didn't hang about to see what happened next! Have a great weekend, Angela x
WOW some of the things you see while traveling the roads. I love the unstripey Zebras! Bet they have a story to tell! I was on my way back home from Dallas a while back and saw the Hamburgler in his burger jail toodling down the highway on a flatbed truck. I am always curious where and what things like that are up to. I don't think McDonald has used that sales gimmick in years!
ReplyDeleteYou never know what you will see on the roads these days:)
ReplyDeleteHope you are enjoying the weekend. Sue
How fantastic that you got a picture! Over here they do charity events with artists decorating sculptures; horses in Saratoga, Uncle Sam for troy, and pigs for towns know for their barbecue!
ReplyDeleteOur local hospice has snow dogs that are being sponsored by celebs and schools. They're being decorated and placed around the city ...... Fatboy Slim is sponsoring one and displaying it outside his cafe on the seafront and the author, Peter James, is also sponsoring one. I guess these will suffering a similar fate - lol!
ReplyDeleteHow cute! It must be one of those charity things when artists decorate these sculptures and they auction them off. Like the Gromits and Shaun the Sheeps in Bristol. Great catch from the van!
ReplyDeleteThere is a link within this link that may give you more idea about your zebra

Oh what fun!! I also followed the link above. I love whimsy!!
ReplyDeleteThat would have just made my day, Julia :) And now you have a brilliant set of photos to scrap with a great story attached too. Hugs, Elizabeth xx
ReplyDeleteThe photos turned out to be fabulous.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see how you scrap them.
Toni xx
This is too funny! You could scrap up the stripes ;-)
ReplyDeleteI think there will be a zebra swimmingpool somewhere in England.....
Thanks for the pictures!
groetjes
Francisca
What an awesome sight! So happy you got those shots! It made me smile! Hope you're having a wonderful day!
ReplyDeletethat is cool, and I am impressed you got such clear shots zooming down the road :)
ReplyDeleteHow cute are those naked zebras! They do look very naked, without their stripes, don't they? And good pics of them!
ReplyDeleteI laughed and laughed when I saw this. At first, I thought of Annette who thought a moose was a bear, then I realized they really did look like zebras without the stripes and the mane. You must have a super incredible phone to take photos that clear. I'm super impressed. Really great pictures and a fun time, too.
ReplyDeleteGlad to read you have a new computer. That's on my list, too, right after groceries, heat, lights, and art supplies (grin).
Amazing sight! Now why don't you email them?..... the details are on the end of the trailer!!
ReplyDeleteJo x
The rounded ears and the mohawked mane makes them zebras (and the tail). Very curious indeed.... Off to the stripist's shop with them. Maybe they will be multicolored zebras? Hmmmm.... the possibilities are endless.
ReplyDeleteTee hee hee - that made me smile!
ReplyDeleteHaha I love it, what a find Julia and well done Mr D for playing along.
ReplyDeleteMr Holland plays along with me when it comes to spotting things and I love being in the van, we sound like a Peter Kay script off Car Share when we are out together, the conversation is crackers.
Lynn x
Well, that was a fun surprise! Put a smile on my face too.
ReplyDeleteAnd I learnt something (Zebras have round ears).
TFS,
Lisca
What a hoot! And that you were so fast getting the picture! Great job!
ReplyDeleteLOL. What an unusual site! Great picture!
ReplyDeletefunny.
ReplyDeleteAmazing !!!
ReplyDeleteUpdate Julia! On local news yesterday that one of those zebras (now painted in jolly stripes etc.) had been stolen. Called Gilbert, he's now been recovered. There are 150 of them and it's all part of a Zany Zebra trail round Southampton this Summer. So a few commented were on the right track.
ReplyDeleteHope all is going OK for you, remember that loads of us are rooting for you!
Hugs
