So my desk is just a mass of stamped and cut up pieces....
I used up nearly a whole pot of silver embossing powder in the preparation, so I really have to make these cards up now! I will show you, but not for a while because I'm away this weekend with the Coven for some scrapbooking and staying up late kinda fun. My desk is safe, I'll tidy a little but still leave the card fixings out. And that lovely bottle. It was Courvoisier and it came from my Papa's drinks cabinet after he died, seven years ago. It wasn't full then, and it's taken 7 years of making two or three Christmas cakes every year since to use up the brandy! Then, when the Kathys were here, we had a sandwich and a cuppa in our local tea room and admired a selection of bottles that were decorated with decoupage and had little fairy lights inside. Good idea we thought. So I didn't throw the bottle out, but knew very well that if I decorate it, it won't involve decoupage. I've actually had an idea (!), so now I just need to get around to it! I can see you rolling your 👀. That particular phrase and I are closely acquainted and so my eyes tend to auto-roll when I say it!
Show and tell please, all as absolutely inspiringly usual.
Goodness, Julia. I can't imagine using an entire pot of silver embossing powder. The letters are certainly beautiful, though. I can hardly imagine the insane amount of time you have already spent on those cards.
ReplyDeleteThat bottle is gorgeous. I absolutely adore the shape. Does that mean your Christmas cakes are soaking as we speak? I would never decoupage that beautiful bottle, but I will wait to see what you come up with. No, I won't roll my eyes, either!!
I've decided to take a couple of weeks off to let my body heal, but I will be back next month.
Ooh that sounds fun! Silver embossing sound pretty, paired with paper piecing too so all round a festive and interesting desk. Wish mine was more so. Enjoy the coven and scrap like mad!

I look forward to seeing what comes of the idea for the bottle, it is a very pretty shape and i can quite see why it would take so long to empty. The silver embossing sounds very festive. Enjoy the coven getaway and have fun scrapping! Helen xx
ReplyDeleteI still have to admire those who make loads of Christmas cards, I did it once or twice and now just the odd few, even cut down the card list radically but that has just reminded me I have an anniversary one needed for next week! Eeeek. Super bottle, I decoupaged one earlier this year on the craft retreat I went to in April. Used it this week with other LED candles for Israel. Hope you have a super time scrapbooking. Hugs BJ#5
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing those silver embossed cards Julia. Enjoy your time away with the Coven and Congratulations again on the big anniversary number! Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #6
ReplyDeleteWell, 750 is quite staggering and a nice round number. 3/4 of the way to 1000 was my immediate thought. Had to go and see what you had been doing to almost use up a pot of embossing powder, that stuff seems to go on forever. Yep it's that time of year and I am about to embrace Christmas, but where it's gonna go I have no idea, I will have to swap out a couple of shelves in the craft room. More chaos. Enjoy your weekend!! Love n hugs Cindyxx #8
ReplyDeleteHope you find time to decorate your brandy bottle - it's a great idea and will be a little treasure. Well done on starting your C cards. The postage on cards will be hefty this time won't it. Have fun at your Coven get together - I always chuckle at the thought! x x Jo
ReplyDeleteLove that bottle and will look forward to seeing what you do with it….when you get round to it 👀 I’ve been getting round to finishing of lots this week so have given myself a pat on my back 😃😃😃 I’m getting ready cos there’s only 5 days to go now …..wahooooo.

I can just imagine your sparkly Christmas cards! The word Peace is so apt now and so much needed as wars rage on. Enjoy your scrapbooking weekend. Happy WOYWW. Angel #13
ReplyDeleteSounds like you've been busy and got plenty cards made. I don't know what I've been doing with my time really, just had other things to do so not much crafting as you'll see from my desk. Finished cards Monday and nothing since. Look forward to see what you do with the bottle. It's a very interesting shape. Take care and wishing you a very happy woyww, Angela x14x
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who cannot see your cards? Just woke up and my eyes are bleary so we'll put it down to that. the early get up was the usual morning walk next door. Surprised to see you up and running at that time but yhou were there so I got a longer sleep in.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure what decoupaging a ;bottle is like, I covered one once in air dry clay and then used Pearl Ex on it. I still have it and still love it. So I am looking forward to the day you do yours whether the 'idea' be decoupage, clay or alcohol inks.
Have a wonderful time at the coven.
Hugs, neet xx 1
I think I’d emboss everything given half the chance! I think you’ve been quite retrained really, the glitter carnage could have been a lot worse. Have fun at the weekend!

Such a lovely and busy desk my friend. I am happy to say most of my Christmas cards are ready to go. I've been striving to make flat cards that mail with one stamp and just a few that take more. It is really an expensive thing here in the States. Also I really love silver embossing...you go girl! Happy WOYWW!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a super idea for your bottle . . . love it, hope you make it a memento to your Dad . . .
ReplyDeleteNot stopping long, only short comments as I really have to clear up . .
Enjoy your weekend, lots of laughter, good food and hugs

Oh I LOVE that bottle. I seem to collect a lot of odd bottles, big and small. I use to have marbles in one of the larger ones. Have fun with it and your desk looks so much like mine ....stacks, bits and pieces I wonder I even manage to create. Have a great week Our fall is giving me great joy! So pretty out with the colors changing Lots of birds heading south
ReplyDeleteHi Julia! What a nice busy desk! You must have been VERY busy to almost use up a whole pot of silver embossing powder! I haven't even thought of Christmas cards yet, to busy with other things, but I better get thinking! I see you have one of those blue trays for embossing powder - I have one too but it's been missing for a few years now. Since nothing ever leaves my art room, it has to be somewhere! It has a very good hiding spot! Enjoy your weekend with the Coven! Lindart #19
ReplyDeleteI have a pretty pink bottle...that I think had gin in it...(SIL's not mine) I couldn't think what else to add to it, so I just put in the fairy lights. super cute. I have done a post but somethings up with blogger...It won't let me load up my pictures...says to allow google, which it stupid coz I've never not allowed Google and then.... its taking at least one minute to type each letter in the post! and then....its not saving the post...so....I will try and join you asap....which will probably be next Christmas....not this one! Happy WOYWW!?
ReplyDeleteWow a whole pot of embossing powder - that's a lot of embossing. Good to get a head start on the cards though before it gets hectic. Happy WOYWW! Elle #20, EOTC
ReplyDeleteI'm not one to speak for others, yet I'm confident that most (quite possibly *all*) of us make well intentioned messes *and* have more than a few get-around-to-it projects. Verrrrry relatable!
ReplyDeleteEnJOY your coven time - sounds like grand fun.
As I missed last week and it was a 'special number', I felt the urge to come and view your post. I look forward to seeing what you do with that bottle. Ali x
