What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 715

I’ve had a weekend away, doing nothing but scrapbooking and trying out hilarious dance moves. Well, they were actually brilliant dance moves made hilarious by five over tired women who aren’t capable, frankly. It was fun and I’ll bore you with pictures of my LOs as and when I feel you can face them!
I unpacked all the stash, put away everything except the file full of alphabet stickers. When I bought my Scan N Cut I stopped buying alphabet stickers. I cart this huge file to every crop and for at least a year, it’s been very difficult to make up whole words from matching alphabets because of course, the vowels are always used up first. This will come as a surprise to some I’m sure, but despite my slapdash and haphazard approach to almost everything, I really don’t like mismatched fonts. I find them difficult to read and they make my teeth itch. So, the next job is to go through this ridiculous pile of alphabets that aren’t whole and come up with a plan. And the end result will be, I hope, a satisfactory and manageable pile of useable, and a marvellous idea for the unusable….I feel a masterboard coming on.

Anyway gentle Desker, fancy a little challenge? There’s another anniversary looming (WOYWW728) and in the grand tradition of ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’, I feel an ATC swap is in order. And, if I can align things…fancy a link up on screen? There’s time to work out the wrinkly bits, you don’t need to commit to doing either or both, but let me have your (gentle) opinions!

Meanwhile, show us your desk will ya? Gimme a break from the crisis of consonants. (Sorry, had to.)

  1. Gosh I can't believe the anniversary is that close Julia. I will have a go at a PIF ATC but probably won't get too many more made. I am intrigued how a screen link up will work - pray tell more. Glad you had a fun weekend. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #1

  2. I am certainly up for a swap, but not sure if I will get multiples made... I am also intrigued about the idea of a screen link up. The weekend away sounds great fun. Hope you make something fabulous out of the leftover mis-matched letters!! Happy WOYWW Helen #3

  3. I am with you on the mis match of letters - I get a bit antsy about this too and spend ages doing individual letters with my dies. They are only small and so fiddly. Don't enjoy the process so no more of those circular birthday cards with all the letters on.
Glad you had a good weekend, the dance routine sounds fabulous (to watch) lol.
    Hugs, Neet 2 xx
    ps am up for ATC's

  4. Another anniversary! Exciting. And yes, up for it. You should cover a couple of 12x12s with all the letter stickers and make a 2 page background! Won’t use all of them up but a few sheets anyway. Looking forward to seeing a few layouts for sure! Anytime you share them, I smile and think of the old crop days…
    Happy Woyww

  5. Good morning Julia, now I'm one who can't wait to see the LOs. The dance moves sound cool, love a dance - me. Although I'm a bit danced out this week as on top of my weekly Tuesday night Ballroom/Latin social dancing they had a Valentine's Dance on Saturday add badminton into the mix and I'm surprised I can still walk. Not a fan of alphabet stickers, all that messing around to find the right letters and the vowel situation. With my little peeloffs I tend to cut up other letters to make do. I have quite a few die alphabet sets in my collection now and all a really great investment. ATC SWAP and screen link up sounds great to me, I'm in. Hugs BJ#4 (or should that be 59!)

  6. I may not be around to play much anymore, but I am always going to join an anniversary swap. Count me in for an ATC for my PIF partner.

  7. ATC swap and link up on screen sounds good to me but I do feel with the postal service as it is and the prices that go with it maybe there won’t be multiple made this year. Your weekend sounds fun...of course we do need to see photographic evidence of the dancing ๐Ÿ˜€

  8. Hit publish too soon. You can't believe how many mismatched consonants I have and no vowels. I have also noticed that the OLD ones often no longer stick and must be glued to the page. Some are difficult to remove from the sheet and tear, too.

  9. ATC swap and link up sound good. I still have some Christmas stamps left due to strikes so it will be good to use them up maybe. I think we should see a few of those dance moves on the link up too.๐Ÿ˜„

  10. The letters can be used up on the anniversary ATCs maybe? A swap/linkup would be great, I’ll join in for sure! Was alcohol involved in those dance moves?

  12. Morning Julia, glad to hear you had a good time scrapping. Dancing too, good to know you got some exercise in. I will await your brilliant idea as I too have numerous alphabet sheets with no vowels and number sheets with no noughts or one's. Definitely in for an ATC swap and a screen link up - in my case if I can remember how. It's been a while. Have a good week, love n hugs Cindyxx #11

  14. So pleased your weekend went well and there was additional entertainment . . . maybe a drink or two in the mix?

  15. Laughing at the intended pun! Glad you had a lovely time both scrapping and dancing - looking forward to see the photographs :) ATC swap sounds great, I never know when to speak at screen link ups, perhaps you could wave a flag so I know :) Have a great week. Angela #14

  16. Oh it's still early 5 a m here, winds are crazy. I am anxious for MAY..and a swap/zoom? Hope you find an easy solution to the lettering. I have 4 hanging file tubs I intend to sort out this week. THERE are a MESS.And I hope to down size, I just think life would be easier in my crafting space . Wish me luck. I truly wish Dancing weekly would have never left the area. It is great exercise and fun to be with people. But then there is the fact we aren't out late anymore, we don't like loud noise anymore. And our bodies are already hurting !! I'd say age has taken us over. Happy WOYWW thanks for keeping us together.

  17. Good morning, Miss Julia!
Yeah, not a fan of mis-matched letter titles either... unless I'm writing a ransom note LOL.
I'm in for the swap this year. I missed the lasts couple and when I say 'missed'. I truly did miss taking part.
    Creative Blessings! Kelly #17

  18. I tried to leave you a comment on my computer but it just ain't having it so I'm back on my old tablet.
I had a similar spare letter problem last year- in the end most went in the paper recycling bin.
I'm happy to make a PIF ATC - a screen link up would be good too.
I would still be recovering from the dancing!
    Big hugs, Chrisx

  19. I laughed when you said mixed up fonts make your teeth itch! When you scan and cut them can you make whole pages of just 1 or 2 vowels? I'm glad you had a good time at your crop, especially the crazy dancing. everyone should do that! I have subscribed to a program called Body Groove so I do that every day, lots of weird and wonderful dancing! Have a great week, Lindart #19

  20. Sorry I haven't joined in for a few weeks but do read most of the contributions. Yes I can just imagine the dancing, no comment. Would love a link up/zoom get together like a few years ago. Ani

  21. I have a pile of alphabet stickers like that with the same problem, or maybe worse: I like mismatched lettering but even that isn't possible with my stickers anymore... grrr! Hope you can make it work for you! I would have loved to see you dance (and maybe shake my booty and join you, ha!) I'm in doubt about the ATC swap but will give it a thought... I'm busy with my job/teaching a workshop/another collaboration project etc. so don't know if I will have enough time... so maybe... You have a good week/weekend dear! Hug from Holland. Marit #6

  22. It would be fun to see your dance moves, Julia! I enjoyed the zoom link up we had, was it last year? I'm a bit busy so wouldn't take part in the ATC swap, I don't think. I've an exciting project on the go - more soon!
Maybe you'll have to swap alphabets with someone who speaks another language, Welsh say, where they use more consonants?
    Anyway
    take care
