What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 686

I don’t know about you, but oh boy, I’ve had a week. Last Wednesday my brave Mr Dunnit had surgery to replace the lens on each eye so that he no longer needs glasses. It’s worked, he’s pleased. For me, the big ‘but’ has been that he had to have a week off work. For 48 hours he wasn’t allowed to lift anything heavier than a mug of coffee, and needed to wear sunnies to protect his very dilated pupils. There wasn't any advice from the clinic however, about how to actually contain him. He was pacing about an hour after I got him home from the clinic in Southampton. Seriously. So the last week has actually about keeping Bart busy, but away from jobs. And let’s face it, jobs are what you do when you’re at home but on holiday, huh!
He helped his Mum empty the greenhouse ready to dismantle.
He did chopping and buttering when friends came for supper.
He pretended to enjoy a bit of farmers market type shopping.
And yesterday I let him loose on fixing some guttering because it’s not heavy lifting. And in turn, he erm, treated me to a sandwich and a coffee in the village on our way to the builders merchants. It’s been a week. I miss my desk. I didn’t realise how much I took for granted the fact that it’s there and that it keeps me occupied if I want it to! Gratitude overload today, for desks and benches..he’s going back to work with the clinic’s blessings, so you can guess what my plans include!
So, please, save me by inspiring me…I need some routine and some lovely crafty stuff to gaze upon!

  1. I am glad that Mr D's surgery went well, and that you both endured the enforced downtime!! I am afraid I don't have anything helpful to share today, but will try harder next week! Happy WOYWW xx

  2. Mm, not sure re this comment on IPad getting through.. but will try! I can relate to the cataract surgery having had it over a dozen years ago but our rules were stricter than yours, I’ve noticed they vary lots from place to place. I wasn’t allowed to lift more than a kilo for four weeks, no house cleaning ( what a shame etc).
Love those tomatoes and fruit salad very colourful!
My desk has loo paper inspiration 🤣🤣🤣 yes that’s something new. And it worked whats more which is even better. And some inking and brayering so loads to see. Be warned though all makes we’re mindful of Christmas in July theme as I’m waaay behind on my C cards.

It seems I maybe numero uno… but we will see. Commenting as anonymous cos that’s what blogger selected hence my doubt it will go through?…

Thanks for Sharing, God bless and keep you safe, and all those you love, hugs Shaz in Oz.x

  3. Gosh those tomatoes look wonderful. I need to visit a farmer's market obviously. Mind you the bowl of fruit looks like the kind of thing I would love to fall into and eat my way out of, delicious - well done to Mr D.
And well done Mr D on having a successful operation and being good for the required time. Sounds idyllic until you have to enforce it - the 48 hour ban - it's a long time really.
    Hugs, Neet 3 xx

  5. Oh my, so that was what you were doing in Southampton whilst we were at our son's graduation there! Totally sympathise with the men/resting angle I have the same problem with mine. He's retired now and can't stop doing things even if he's tired! Glad the operation was a success, that was really quick. Hugs BJ - yet to link as not written post yet......

  6. What a relief the surgery went well! And you both survived away from your… work desks! Guttering, and buttering and chopping and dismantling a greenhouse does not seems like “taking it easy “ to me, but to each his own. Enjoy your craft time and trust he will see your cards more clearly now!
    Happy Woyww hugs!

  7. The surgery sounds amazing but I’m thinking it’s for a braver man than I. I hope his recovery goes well.

  8. Pleased that went well. I know it usually does but it can still be an anxious time. My mum had it done years ago but it's not stopped her growing old Lol! but at 94 she's got great eyesight. That was meant to be funny but not sure now if it is....oh well. Have a good woyww. Sending hugs, Angela x9x

  10. Good on Mr D for being brave enough to have the op. I can’t see the wandering welder doing it haha.
Your desk will be there when you’re ready Julia. In between dealing with Mum and her affairs I’m managing to sit at mine for little chunks of time thankfully. Have a good week and happy crafting

  18. Glad Bart’s surgery went well. At my 4 w check up they decided I needed laser surgery on a retinal tear on one eye and that was v painful. Ok since. Those tomatoes look lovely. Glad you can get back to crafting.
    Take care and happy WOYWW

  19. Wow, Julia, you sure have had your plate full this week. Great that your husband now can work without glasses. One thing I have learned is taking NOTHING for granted .. (hard life lesson) So each moment during the day is lived and if something comes to me in one way or another I take it as a gift :D You work so hard for all of us Deskers - THANK YOU for that and I am glad you are around

    Thank you for sharing

    Have a great week !!

  22. So glad everything went ok with Mr D, even though his op sounded very scarrrry! Although, having not to wear glasses must be fantastic! Mine keep falling off, I hate them! Anyway, you have been very busy even though not crafting. Sometimes it gets a bit too 'what shall I do first' in my craft room...having first fight my way in. Last this week, back to normal! 23. You know, I have considered having this done myself many times, wearing glasses irritates the hell out of me, they are uncomfortable on a motorbike, slip down your face when you perspire just a tiny bit, and as you get older you need either 2 pairs or you pay more than the cost of 2 pairs to have varifocals.
I am glad Bart is doing well, and that you no longer have him under your feet ha ha ha

  24. Glad Mr. D's surgery went well. Sounds like you've been quite the care giver and very busy keeping him in line not to overdo!
Hope you can get back to your crafty endeavors soon!
    Have a great week.
