What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 681

So sorry to have messed up the number last week, I took the decision not to correct it after I’d read your comments because then the post and the comments don’t make sense, and they need to, because this blog will be my reading material in my dotage - can you imagine how much more confused I’ll be about numbers by then!
Now then, here’s my desk.
Still not back in it’s proper home, but at least it’s genuinely in use. I’m following a grand example from Caro and have a mug of tea right in front of me, and as you can see, am paper piecing some fun birds. It’s one of the rather large handful of new stamps that I’ve brought from Shopkeeper Gal. Sadly, she’s in the the throes of a closing down sale and it’s caused me to panic! Anyway, this stack of pieced birdies are my response to sitting down on Saturday with a list of cards that I’d like to produce. Two birthday, one wedding. I didn’t use the birds in the end. But I did enjoy the cutting and sticking.

The post before this one is about the Workdesk crop. Please read and commit! I’ll add to the top of the blog as a page in a while so you don’t have to keep hunting for it.
Meanwhile, please show and tell of your desks and work thereon. It’s important. And it turns out, you’ll be contributing to my reading material for the years to come!

  1. Gosh it been ages since I’ve been to a proper craft shop! Sad to hear the shop is closing but hopefully it’s because she is moving on to something grand! Love those tumbling birdies, and yes, read the crop post and in the throes of planning the journey. Excited with a capital E!
    Happy Woyww

  2. I too create my blog as a sort of diary so that in time when my poor hands and eyes can no longer craft I can read about the things I did and see the words of my friends over the years. Hopefully I can follow some of my friends through their blogs too.
So sorry your shopkeeper friend is closing down, so many are and have - and they call it progress because I am sure it is the internet that is causing these things to happen in so many cases.
Take care and see you next week hopefully.
    Hugs, Neet 3 xx

  4. Sad that Shopkeeper Gal is closing down but I hope you pick up some bargains. Like Mary Anne I can't remember the last time I went to a craft shop - there are none round here (there's a Hobbycraft 2 bus rides away but I don't count them) Have a great week and happy cardmaking! Helen #4

  5. Sad to hear Shopkeeper Gal is closing down - but just think how many years you have been lucky to have her!! As Helen says nothing much in London except Hobbycraft (all knitting, lettering and cricut these days), although I think Bladerubber is still open but haven't made it up there for yonks. Really do want to get to the crop, but will think about logistics when I'm back from Wales too much else to do before then. Love those little birds and like the idea of paper piecing them. Happy WOYWW, have a great week, love n hugs Cindyxx #5

  6. I love the stack of birds....maybe what we will look like in a photo shoot of the up and coming crop? I bet you can’t wait to have your table all set up in its proper home with all your stash to hand. Have a great week.
    Hugs,

  11. Good Morning!! and it is as I have a new toy to play with . . . not crafting, just very necessary.
Love your birds, they can always fly onto another card so time not wasted . . . . .
    Have a good week

  12. Good reason NOT to change the number on the title from last week, you'll have a giggle when you get round to reading it again. The birds are fun, I think I'd go balmy if I lived near Shopkeeper Gal's shop too, dies rather than stamps though. BJ#14

  13. Good morning Julia and it’s a sunny morning here. Unfortunately I seem to have hurt my neck whilst sleeping and I can’t move my head much - I also smell of Deep Heat! I don’t mind the smell, but I know a lot of people .object. It is a shame about your local craft shop. I know most of them blame the Internet, but I bought a die once once, after much deliberation that was £20 only to see it on the Internet for 12.95. Since it was the same day, I took the first one back! Of course, like everyone else, I like going to crafts shops and I always buy something- usually several somethings! Happy WOYWW. Angela #11

  14. I knew the shop closing was on the cards but it’s still sad. I really like those birds, so much more character than the awful Tim Holtz Crazy series. I bet you’ll use those loads. Hope the groundworks are proceeding in a satisfactory manner, it’s a hot time to do it though!

  16. The birds are very cute! I know that feeling of panic when a favourite stamp store is closing, that happened here a few years ago, but then another one opened so all is good once again! Have a great week, Lindart #18

  18. We have a new store in our local town that was once a store then online only and now back in a store! Does that make sense? Anyway, it's so sad when a store closes. Been way too many of them.
Fun paper piecing! Those birds are a hoot!
    Have a wonderful week!

  19. Love the little birds, I'm watching some real ones out side, where I'm typing this, house sitting dogs and guess what!? I didn't have to keep pressing the VPN thingy to get into here...on the downside, about half of everyone else's blogs I couldn't comment on...unless anonymous! and kept telling me to sign in when I was already signed in...weird! Anyway, I did get confused about the numbers, coz I knew I'd missed last weeks WOYWW, but even tho my brian is small, it didn't hurt too much to work out! Hope you're having a lovlery sunny day crafting Sorry soooo late...thought I'd been, but...well, there you go. Happy WOYWW!?((Lyn))#16
