I moved my desk into the workroom, but again, it isn’t properly located!
Despite the mess, I have spent some time sitting and gazing at it all. You can see I’ve made an ATC, which is the first creativenessness for weeks. But look, things are moving on and I will be back in it properly just as soon as the shelf studs arrive….
Which is any day now, according to the billion emails everyone has to send when you order something online. Have you noticed that? Anyway, on the left of this photo is the scan and cut on its high horse. It knows it’s place in the pecking order of equipment in this room, I can tell you. I keep it covered with two black pillowcases. Because well, dust of course, but also, when scanning, they prevent unwanted light which really helps improve the scanned outline. Two pillowcases? They came in a pack of two! The red box is an art equipment box my lovely man made for me when I went to a class called ‘Drrawing and Painting for Beginners’ when my child was a baby. That child who is 28 today. Wow. It still contains brushes and pencils and even some old rubbery masking fluid. About 18 months after the first class, I discovered stamping. I’m still a rank beginner at Drawing and Painting. Join me, will ya? Let’s see your craft, making space. Put WOYWW in your post title and link here please; see you at your place.
Worrisome to hear you mom needs more visits. And of course happy birthday to miss dunnit. I am always interested to see where the desk-on-wheels is parked each week. Lol! I am also amazed that you can work amidst the chaos. But it will be wonderful when it’s done! And at least the weather is cool and we have returned to the usual British summer!

There are times you can dedicate to visiting and desks and time when family is more important - the time spent with your Mama and your baby gal are precious! Happy birthday to her! Hope the shelf studs turn up soon and you can get your storage fully sorted and yay!!! Helen #2
ReplyDeleteI hope your daughter has a great birthday Julia. Sorry to hear that your mum is not doing so well. The new shelves will be great when they arrive. I am sure the workroom will look spiffing! Good for you in being able to get even an ATC made amid all the business. Stay safe, happy WOYWW. Sarah #3
ReplyDeleteSavour your time with your Mama, Julia, I know how precious that is. Happy birthday to Miss Dunnit. .
ReplyDeleteSo glad to be on the early list, my meds wake me up crazy early but at least there’s a benefit today!

Sorry to hear about your mum Julia. It’s such a difficult time for you. Happy birthday to that gorgeous girl of yours. Sending you huge hugs and you know blogging can wait so please don’t give it a second thought.
ReplyDeleteHugs,

I'm sorry to hear your mum is needing more visits, what a difficult time for you. I hope you have a lovely time celebrating your baby gal's birthday today too, and don't you worry about us deskers, we can look after ourselves while you do what's most important at the moment.
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Diana xx #13
Sometimes we just have to move our priorities around, family is the most important part. I was at my mum'a yesterday so I know how you are feeling. Although she is at home she has four carers a day and we do all the jobs for her and manage all her finances etc. so it's none stop really but just pleased she's still around. You take care and hope you get some desk time too. Happy woyww, Angela 14x
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Miss D, gosh 28…doesn’t the time fly? I’m sorry to hear about your mum, of course time with her is most important, hope you’re ok. You’ll have to have a grand opening day when your craft room is back to normal complete with ribbon and scissors - you may possibly have some to spare….

Don't worry about not being able to visit, Julia. You can't visit everyone every week. Funny how you started out with Drawing and Painting when your daughter was a baby and then your journey took you down a different route! I think something clicks within us at that particular. I became interested in quilting (believe it or not!) when my son was a baby, and then I moved onto scrapbooking, then digital scrapbooking until I found my calling in mixed media (why choose one art form when you can have everything rolled into one!) Enjoy your visit with your mama and happy birthday to your daughter! xx
ReplyDeleteGood morning Julia , wish your daughter a happy birthday from me. Enjoy your precious time with your mother. Yes the plethora of emails gets annoying. Happy WOYWW Angela. #9
ReplyDeleteI meant to remark on the black pillowcases. I feel the scanning part is not very good with the scan n cut - or not as good as I thought it would be. I shall buy a pair of black pillowcases, thank you for the tip! Angela #9
ReplyDeleteWishing you a good day. Time with your Mom is most precious and sharing a Happy Birthday with your daughter is also. Life goes on and sometimes visits are not always possible with the either age group. And summer if flying by. Hugs to You.
ReplyDeleteHi Julia! Happy Birthday to your DD! It must be so nice to have her home. We haven't had our DD here since December 2019. Who knew then how long it would be until we could have her here again? It won't be until October though, fingers crossed. Now she's a married lady with a daughter of her own! Luckily we can visit her. You are still working in chaos I see, not super good for the Mojo, but good for you getting an ATC done! Just think how creative you will be again once everything is back to "normal"! Have a great week, Lindart, #20
ReplyDeleteI am glad to read you have time you can visit your mama Julia, and Happy Birthday to your dd. that is so cool that your hubs made that art travel/storage box for you :) I love seeing your space come together too. ~Stacy #21
ReplyDeleteIt looks as if good progress is being made on the house renovations, Julia, and maybe soon you will be able to take covers off things and get things straight in their permanent positions at last! I'm amazed you can keep creating at all under such circumstances. I'm glad you've had the opportunity to spend time with family even if limited - that must take precedence over crafting!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visit, and for all your kind thoughts about my health issues. The ToDo machine is amazing - you are right, how much things have moved on since the old days and all the great equipment we can now use in our studios to create really professional looking results.
Happy WOYWW,

Family first, crafting later - and if your Mama needs you a bit more than usual then so be it. I hope she is alright and nothing has happened to cause worry. Sending gentle hugs to her (and you).
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your daughter - how lovely to spend the day with her.
Love the black pillowcases, we have black bedding at the caravan, and a grey duvet cover.
Love the way your room is going to look, how lucky you are to have such a handy man about the house.
Take care, don't overdo things, enjoy yourself
Hugs, Neet 8 xx
Happy birthday to your daughter and hope you have a lovely time together.x
ReplyDeleteJulia, I honestly feel bad for you!! I hate being displaced and especially "my things!" I'd be batty for sure, so kudos to you for sticking it out for the long haul!! I can't wait till you can show us all the finished glory!! I think I will be the "eternal" beginner painter and drawer!!! LOLOL But what a sweet hubby to make you that special toolbox!! Happy birthday to your "baby!" My two will ALWAYS be my sweet babies!! Blessings Julia! Felicia #17
ReplyDeleteHi Julia. I noticed your question about the gumball machine. I saw someone alter one of these years ago though can't remember what they did with it and as I couldn't find any I just forgot all about them until I noticed you can now buy them on Amazon. They are apparently bought as wedding favours or money boxes for children. As far as the ideas... who knows were they come from. I think I see some thing and it lingers in my head until I find a way to use it. Hope that answers your question. Hugs, Angela x14x
ReplyDeleteIt's concerning that your mother needs more visits, I hope she's not doing too badly and isn't it good that you can now visit more often now that it's allowed. I'm sure not one of us minds you neglecting us in the circumstances. Have a great week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #22
ReplyDeleteHope your mum is OK, your space is taking shape, just those shelf studs and it will all come together. Happy WOYWW! Elle #18 this week
ReplyDeleteI just knew I'd forget something, Julia. Belated birthday greetings to Miss Dunnit. Hope she has a great week celebrating. xx
ReplyDeleteHi Julia. Not joined in for a while, life gets in the way sometimes.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to send hugs re your mum. Family first. Hope your daughter had a lovely birthday. Anne x
Creeping in late trying to be quiet . . . . sorry if I missed the party . . . must be very frustrating having to wait around for a couple of screws!!
ReplyDeleteYou'll laugh about this one day.
Take care

I didn't even post last week, after a change to scheduled visit from family due to the weather. Shame, as I actually have some stuff to show off, but that will be in my post tomorrow. Hope that your daughter had a fabulous birthday, and that your mum is ok. Ali x
