Miss Dunnit was home for the weekend, first time since August, so I threw a load of stuff on to the desk and rolled the it out of the way; and haven’t looked at it till last night when I rolled it back into what will be it’s day lit temporary position.......it crossed my mind that I need to get a grip.
Told you! There’s my sexy pen case at right, and the whole draw of made cards because they’re easier to choose in daylight and having that particular draw storage unit in here as a temporary thing is pushing my luck in terms of taking up room. Then there’s the hastily tidied away bag of yarn. You have to understand that the desk has spent the last four days in its original position in my workroom. There is no natural light in there and we’re currently using it as a store room whilst we decorate and finish off the downstairs. So anything that need tidying away - yep, it just gets slung into the workroom. Nice multicoloured yarn in a pretty bag there; I’m making my sissy a lap blanket. Not crochet or knitting. Looping. I kid you not. I will do a show and tell later this week because it’s starting to look as if I know what I’m doing! And to prevent you falling into a coma because of a super long post, I will also do a separate gallery post to show you the beautiful ATCs I’ve received. So much to do! Join me in this part of my week please, as we push into the thirteenth year of checking on each other via the desk.
Morning Julia. SO glad you liked the ATC and postcard and that you had a good visit from family. I am sure your space will be more back to normal soon. Happy WOYWW. Stay safe. Sarah #2
ReplyDeleteMorning Julia- roll on the 13th anniversary! I was thrilled to get your message about Miss D coming home and delaying the opening of your atc- how absolutely fabulous you were able to see her after so long. Look forward to the show and tell of the looped blanket, sounds interesting. Happy WOYWW xx
ReplyDeleteLooping?! I may have to Google rather than wait! Hope you and Miss D had a lovely time. Best to close the door to the work room and enjoy. Thanks for a lovely 12 years of fun and friendship.
ReplyDeleteHappy Woyww

I'm having a terrible time getting my mouse to cooperate tonight. That is yarn? It's beautiful. and I like that you have things sorted for easy clean up. I bet you had a good time with Miss D. It was worth it to push the table aside.
ReplyDeleteWasn't it good! Last week I mean, I could do it all over again. It is lovely getting all that happy mail. Still not got one from my Pif so that means there is more to come - I love it when it happens like that.
ReplyDeleteJust makes the excitement go on and on.
How lovely to have your daughter home - loadsa girly chit chat.
Well, what a super busy desk you have. Love the sexy pen case, beats mine hands down. then there is that bag of yarn, a real talking point - what on earth is 'looping'? Can't wait for your reply so must visit Google and find out before curiosity kills the cat.
Toodle pip!

Don’t die of shock dear Julia, Queen of Desk, that the convict from Downunder has finally made an appearance.I lost part April most of May with: Away, then sick then visitors then away! In successive week after week. Sorry missed last weeks big week, but was travelling home from Brisbane on Wed and majorly sleep deprived.
ReplyDeleteOne bonus in first visit was I caught up with Sandra De, on the beach in Syd, ππππππ
Sandra actually kindly picked me up off plate, took me to beachside cafe fir lunch, and then dropped me at hospital to have tests and se Drs for usual check up!
What lovely kind folk WOYWWers are!
Love your wheelie desk must be so handy to have a wheelie one, esp one with backboard like yours has.
Must get going hopefully back later to comment more, but out now delivery of church bulletins etc catch up with folks.
Thanks for Sharing, God bless and keep you safe, and all those you love, hugs Shaz in Oz.x

ReplyDeleteHi Julia, I bet you have enjoyed having your daughter there.
ReplyDeleteGood idea to have wheels on your desk. I however don't have anywhere to wheel mine to:) LOL
Looking forward to seeing the looping lap blanket.
Happy WOYWW

Awh you and me both on having family home after months apart. I’ve had my sister home and it was grand. She’s gone back to Oxford now and taken mum with her for three weeks then she will bring her back and stay with us overnight.
ReplyDeleteWell you’ve got me intrigued with thing. I’ve no idea what it is
Have a good week lovely Julia
Lynn xx
Looping sound interesting!
ReplyDeleteLovely to have your daughter home!
I’ve not heard of looping....although I may have the tool to do it somewhere hidden away πππ I love it that when life gets in the way we are able to pile it up and put it away for quieter times . Enjoy your special time with your gorgeous girl.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Annie x
Looping is a new one on me but I’m not a yarn girl so hardly surprising! I shall look forward to a demo! Just realised I don’t have your address for your ATC, if you get a mo today to message me. Glad you had some girly time. Stay safe & keep smiling, Lisa-Jane #8
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, desks do come in handy for other things when you're not crafting so you're not he only one that's piled stuff on them. Pleased you had a nice weekend and hope you have a lovely more creative woyww, Angela x19x
ReplyDeleteThe ATC swap was fun - I'm showing all mine today! (have yet to write it as usual, but at least I have my photos prepped) Looping sounds intriguing - tell us more! I like the bright, funky colours - it will look so happy! xx zsuzsa
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to see Miss D!! That’s a long time for not not meeting up, bet the first hug was a long one xx. I liked that loopy yarn thing very much, it was effective in making that big chunky throw! Happy looping (when you have time from decorating etc etc!
ReplyDeleteHugs LLJ 10 xx
Hi Julia. How wonderful to have your daughter home! We have finally had a meal indoors with youngest son and family and hope to soon stay with eldest , first time since Dec 2019. Such joy. Looking forward to finding out what looping is all about! Anne x 20
ReplyDeleteHi Julia! Glad you like the ATC, sorry I didn't respond it's just been so busy here. But a day to myself today. I sympathise with the storeroom, as I have a tiny utility room that ends up as the junk storage space when anyone comes to visit!! And we have so much extra stuff here after the wedding because most of the props etc were provided by the happy couple and had to be brought home. Determined to get back to normal now, and hopefully get in the garden too if it ever stops raining!! Good luck with your looping - is that something like rug making? Have a good week, love n hugs Cindy xx
ReplyDeleteWell, my dearest Julia, I hope you are suitably proud of yourself as you see the feedback from last week's birthday blogging and all those little works of art winging their way through the postal system. Isn't it just lovely to have such varied and unique representations of all the bloggers ... each one a total refelction of who we are and what we do. Glad you got to spend time with your daughter ... that's the most precious thing of all. Much love to you, from Debbie 21 xXx
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW again, Julia! Here's to the next 12 years, as we commence the 13th. Next year's anniversary will be an interesting one.... LOL.... I've answered your question about where I start on stitching, on my blog this week. It was a good question, and worthy of a full answer.

Hi Julia, glad you liked my ATC and poem! So good you had a visit from Miss D even though you’re in the middle of decorating. I hope the latter is over soon.
ReplyDeleteNow, looping, I’ll have to look that one up. It could be useful for my current project. Hmm.
Take care and happy WOYWW
Hugs

Happy WOYWW. Good luck with getting everything organised. I am currently pricing up Ikea cube unit, plus inserts/boxes etc - so that I can get rid of all the mismatched old wooden furniture from various bedrooms, and just have one storage unit against the far wall of my craft room (plus a lower one to put printers on top of). It will be great when it is done, but it will be a big job, despite having had my 2 big craft room clearouts in the past 2 years. Ali x #28
ReplyDeletelucky 13? when we first met ,I had a workspace with little natural light-grateful that is no longer the case. From card bins to bags of yarn, if its on the desk we share it, thanks to you!

Good morning Julia, I had a bad case of acid reflux las# night, I was up for hours, so I posted when I woke at 7.30 then went back to bed. It was either the Korma or the fresh cream eclair I had in the afternoon π₯². Will be checking back for ‘looping” x Angela #12
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, how wonderful to have your daughter home after so long! I miss both of mine so much, but have managed to sneak in a couple of visits between lockdowns! I'm looking forward to us all having a week away together, proper quality time. Looping?? Oh no, please don't get me tempted with something else - I'm only just mastering the crochet lol! Great idea desks on wheels - my side desk is on wheels so I can slot it under my main desk when I have to transform my craft room into a guest room! I really want my own craft space soon! Have a lovely week, Heather xx #17
ReplyDeleteOh I am glad to see your mess....couldn't post a comment most of the morning. And your desk makes me so happy. This whole house is a disarray and I too need to get a GRIP. I could just runaway, taking nothing. Will post ATC's hopefully next week or what I have by then. Thanks again I seem to need a purpose to create. Enjoy a lovely week.
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, this is my third attempt this morning at leaving a comment, fingers crossed it works and an apology if you get all three later in the day! How lovely to have Miss D home, and how lucky to not only have wheels on your desk but spare space to roll it in to as well. I'm curious as to what looping is - the only thing I can think of is something I remember from years ago that made large looped flowers by winding the yarn around circles of pegs.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week,
Diana xx #25
Good morning, Julia. Isn't that the way it always goes. This has to go 'here' for now so I can put it 'there' later. yep, that's my routine at the moment and I'm not having a redo!
ReplyDeleteI missed the party :-( Been crazy busy. I think I need a new button for the blog. Mine says 10 years LOL
I'll look for your other posts. Interested in the loopy technique. Hugs and Creative Blessings, Kelly (has yet to post a number)
Oooh YAY I am so excited for you guys that your daughter was able to come home Julia. :) Love how vibrant the yarn is peeking through its packaging too. ( I constantly move things into the light so, that makes total sense to me) It's going to be amazing when you can keep things the big things in one place when the reno is done. ~Stacy #32
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to be able to see your daughter! So special. I am intrigued by the idea of looping yarn to make a blanket - it might be something I can manage for a change. I've so enjoyed all the happy mail this week. Happy WOYWW. Take care and stay safe, With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#22)
ReplyDeleteI wanted to explain a couple of details, one of which is from last week. What I have is a porch. I think a veranda is found in the south. Veranda can be interchanged with porch, but is most prevalent in those stately southern mansions. Maybe it's like couch, sofa, divan. All the same depending on what part of the country you're from.
ReplyDeleteI wanted you to know, I like that wonky house die, too. That die cut was sent to me by Chris of pearshapedcrafting. I have three dies, other than the two rocking horses and they are all tags. Kathy gave them to me because they were duplicates of what she had. Need a tag? I;'ve got the die for it (grin).
Lovely to be back taking a good look at all the crafty desks on display.
ReplyDeleteHandy to be able to wheel the whole desk away when not needed. It all looks very interesting on top though. Happy WOYWW! Elle #35 this week
ReplyDeleteHow lovely that you had your daughter visiting,Julia. Thank you for your two visits - so glad you like the completed kitty throw and the start of the Persian Tiles! Had a busy few days and I'm shattered now...
ReplyDeleteHappy belated WOYWW,
