What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 624 - 12 years in weeks

12 years in weeks. Twelve years. Good grief. Seriously, can you tell me where it all went? Mr Dunnit was moved to make remarks about how fast it’s gone and how well we’ve all held on. And do you know, I think that may be the thing, and that may the obvious thing but it is the thing. We’ve held on. And especially in the last fifteen months or so, when we rather needed to put a shape to the weeks. On here, on your own blogs, on messenger, zoom and by post, we’ve been hanging on with and for each other. And the amazing part of all of it is you. Your contributions make it and mean everything. So please don’t stop.
Now then.
I’ve taken a picture at an angle that makes feel a bit sick, actually. And in the best traditions of full disclosure, you can see that I’ve run right into the deadline for this anniversary. 624. It’s a big number. It may not be a brilliant ingenious idea for an ATC, but I like the big number!

So now, remember to add an asterisk to your name if you’re linking to join in the ATC swap. The postcard idea has actually been quite difficult for some, so here’s the thing: send an ATC without a postcard. No one will mind and it won’t matter. Link on, Deskers - who knows what every week for the next twelve years will reveal!

  1. Well, I have not been here for the whole twelve years, but I haven't missed any since I started and it was only in its infancy when I first joined. Gosh Julia, if I am here for the next twelve as you mention I will be a right old crock.
Anyway, thanks for all the love and friendships I have found over the years I have been joining in with you, there have been some great reunions for me in America as well as at the crops and I have loved every single one where I have met up with someone.
Yes, Covid has been a test for us but I do think, and I am sure others will echo this, that WOYWW has been a lifesaver in so many ways and kept us all sane and together.
From the bottom of my heart Julia, thank you so much for all that you have done.
Love you to the moon and back
Neet xx 1 (see what you get when you decide on an early night but want to be loaded up for the morning. xx

  2. I haven't even started the ATC's yet but I do so want to join in. I'm cannoning off the walls with some sort of illness so they may be wonky versions but I really want to celebrate and mark this auspicious occasion. It really is quite incredible and, as I have on my post, I say thank you, to you and to everyone who has come and gone over the years, thank you for starting this and still being here xx Got something in my eye now...

  3. Congratulations on holding us all together for 12 years, it’s no mean feat! WOYWW has meant that I’ve known what at least one day of the week has been for certain over the pandemic...goodness knows what I’d have been doing otherwise *grin*
Long May it continue, even now I still love seeing names on the list and wondering what the desks will reveal, perfect for a nosey beggar like me!
    Hugs LLJ 3 xx

  4. Thank you so much, Julia, for maintaining this big hug for so long. I honestly think I’d have lost the plot without our Wednesdays, this last 15 months. (Of course my better half may say I’ve done so a long time since).
Enjoy the celebration and many, many happy returns of the day.
    Hugs

  7. Oh my! Middle of the night and here we are, celebrating the grand desk hop, once again! I do love this and thank you for starting it, and for keeping it (and us) going through this horrible time, it has been a light in the darkness for sure. I have an ATC earmarked for you! If you care to trade, let me know. What fun we will have for the next 12, I’m sure.
Back to sleep, hopping in earnest in the AM, cause nothing but a crappy WiFi at the hospital will keep me from my appointed rounds...
Big happy Woyww hugs to all.

  10. Congratulations on the big number, it has been a fun 12 years - or however much of it I have been here for, most of it I know. I didn't think to check last night if you'd posted already, I wrote mine a little earlier in the evening. Anyhow, to all of the deskers - happy birthday!! or happy anniversary!! Take care. Great view of the desk, by the way - nice and busy!. Helen #11

  11. Although I am unable to join much anymore, because of other commitments, like Art Journal Journey, I have never missed an anniversary and don't intend to this one, either. Thanks for this incredible Wednesday event that I don't see quitting anytime soon. You may not realize it, but it's because you are such an incredibly wonderful and thoughtful hostess. I just hope to see you at WOYWW 24! Thanks for being there, especially when you were most needed.

  12. Hi Julia,

Love the look of your ATCs. I found WOYWW I think in year 3 and I cannot believe it's been 9 years.

Sadly I don't have my blog anymore and don't craft much these days, but I still love coming on each week.

    Happy 12th WOYWW

  13. Now pick yourself up off the floor my dearest Julia because it is not a good look! Yes, I'ts me! Full of apologies for not desk sharing every week and seeming to only turn up on the big occasions ... certainly was not going to let another anniversary come around without saying the HUGEST of congratulations to you for the very special community of WOYWW'ers! I always pop by each week to read certain blogs and aim to manage my time better in order to participate - no excuses but the "new" blogger has thrown me and I find the only way I can reply to any lovely comments is to fire up the laptop ... which is usually buried in a cupboard these days as my ipad has taken over. Really need to find out how to comment from my ipad and then joining in would be a breeze.
Anyway, won't ramble on ... just thank you, thank you, thank you for bringing some truly wonderful friends into my life. Love you heaps. Debbie xXx

  15. 12 years is unbelievable! I wonder if we (you) could get into the Guinness Book of Records - seriously, I've looked it up: https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/records/apply-to-set-or-break-a-record The reason I think this blog hop could be the record holder is because these hops always come and go and people move on but WOYWW has a real community (and of course you and Jan!) to hold it together. Instagram pretty much killed blogging, but IG posts are very transient (by definition) - blogging is much more personal and we're some of the hard-core (or rather old-fashioned?) bloggers still around! Anyway, I'm rambling! Happy anniversary Julia! May there be lots more to come! xx zsuzsa #17 (for once I managed to prepare my post last night!)

  16. Well done you for keeping us all going. It’s been a life saver during this mad time for giving us a day to focus on so thanks a million. We couldn’t do it without you.

  17. Congratulations Julia, you are amazing - what an achievement! I have no idea where the years have gone but it's been such a joy being part of this lovely and friendly community.
Many thanks and my huge appreciation for all your efforts - here's to the next 12 years!
    Hugs, Diana xx #20
PS Despite a big note taped to the computer screen with an asterix reminder written on it, I still managed to link without adding it so would you please remove #19 for me! Many thanks x

  18. Thank you Julia for keeping us all here, especially over the last twelve months. It’s been a great outlet for me and I’m so glad you don’t mind me rabbiting on about things away from the desk. Even though I’ve never managed a meet up yet, I want you to know that one day when I do you are all in for massive hugs. I’ve been doing my arm exercises ready for the day.
    Love from Lynn xxx

  19. Morning Julia. I was determined to be a good girl and change my link up time - as you suggested... so woke up even earlier than usual, and ignored the fact until now that I must link up. Goodness - I am a LONG way down the list this week.
Many thanks for 624 weekly episodes of life with crafters!!! The 8 years or so I have been coming along have been fun, supportive, encouraging, fabulous. Thanks for your faithfulness with us all.
    Much love. God bless.

  21. Hi Julia, well done and thanks for helping to keep us sane. I don't know whether it's me that's late this morning or everyone else that's up early but it's good cos we've all moved around a little. I must have a look back and find out how long I've actually been with you as I'm not quite sure. Take care everyone and have a lovely WOYWW Anniversary day. Hugs, Angela x26x

  22. Hi Julia, I love your ATC's - so colourful - way more than I have at the moment - not a bit of crafting going on here - despite my itchy fingers - just too much else happening - but I am def going to make an extra effort to get one done for my friend Angela - Stay safe and well - Cheers Maurs xxx

  24. Happy Anniversary Julia and thank you for all the love and support. Hopefully I've got link right.

  25. Happy 12th Anniversary WOYWW. Thank you for having the idea originally and thank you (and to Jan) for keeping it going for so long. There have been several gaps in my attendance record, but I keep coming back - and often come on to read blogs even if there is nothing for me to blog about in my sometimes unused craft room. I remembered to add my asterisk and will wait until later in the day to see who I am sending to (as it isn't even midday yet). Ali x #34

  32. I have found some, *Post cards)I remembered a Chocolate Truffle shop in Lymington, only about 5 miles from me, that always had postcards hanging on a hook out side the shop, and YES some of the sites of the New Forest and surounding areas. I was very good, and didn't buy any chocolate truffles!

  35. Hi Julia, sorry to be so late in posting. Happy 12th anniversary and thank you for keeping this blog going so long. I've only been part of it for a few years, and although I sometimes have gaps in attendance, I really do love taking part in it. I'm sorry that I won't be able to take part in the ATC exchange, as it's always good fun receiving Happy mail. I love your idea for your ATCs. Have a wonderful week, love Heather xx #20

  36. Good morning Julia, I am late, late, for a very important date! LOLOL I've been playing catch up at work since I was off on Monday for the wedding! First off, THANK YOU for spearheading such a great group of crafters! I haven't been in the mix all twelve years, but for quite a bit at any rate. I think Zsuzsa got me here all those years ago, but who am I kidding, I can't remember yesterday! LOLOL I enjoy coming on and sharing and have met so many of you wonderful folks! I loved the Zoom meeting which allowed me to see so many of you face to face! I envy you guys that all live across the pond and can gather from time to time! Thank you for the laughs and I look forward to MANY MORE WOYWW's!!!! Blessings to you my friend! Felicia #34 P.S. I forgot to put an asterisk, but if you want to swap, albeit late for me, I am happy to do so! :)

  37. NO link up for me this time around as i have been flat out with work, but it would not be right not posting a comment, it is the least i can do.
Ms Dunnet, the internet would be a very different place if you had not come up with this stellar idea x

    Thank you
I am sure you know how much you lovely lot meant to shaz and indeed to me too, we have you to thank for that x

  39. Hi Julia, I saw your question about Maisie. She's a tough little dog and doesn't give up easily but you can tell when she's tiring a bit as she drags her foot on the left side so we like to give her a bit of a rest however, there are times she puts the breaks on but not because she's tired but because she likes to stop and sniff and when she finds a spot she likes she just stops dead and wont move until she is satisfied that she has covered that area with a thorough sniff. Hope your weekend is a happy one. Hugs, Angela xxx
