Pretty tidy, huh! Got a cob on over the weekend and sorted some stuff out. That is not to say that it’s all sorted....but the pushback of the GKW is at least in neat piles against the back of the desk! The charge cable is snaked across the desk, I spent yesterday afternoon in conversation with the Coven, and made two LOs at the same time. Fairly basic and straightforward but I like them. The one you can see I like in particular, features a ‘found’ photo. It’s me and my Mum, at a big old BBQ to celebrate my 30th birthday. Mama came over from Australia to be with us for the event. Special huh. Forgive the dirty coffee cup and see my bag of badges. In the US, you call them buttons. In scrapbook world, they are called Flair. I’ve no idea why, or what that means in relation to a pin-less badge. These badges, buttons, flair are all made by me. I really really wanted a badge maker, even as a kid. So this year, he said ‘just get one’. So I did. Joy. I’ve stopped over-using them on LOs now, but have a lot to learn about the software that will let me print words in circles! The old tidying didn’t stop at the desk either...check out the scraps tray: patterned paper loosely size organised. Plain card stock sorted into colour groups and separated by dividers which were, a week ago, almost impossible to see in the mess. So far, so pleasing!
Fill us in then, please; show us your work, work surface or tell us your Shaz story.
Well done for doing some crafting, I've just been faffing! I really should wear my glasses when I link up first thing as I can't see a coffee cup (glasses are in my bag ready to go to work where I really will need them!) but that is one tidy desk!!
ReplyDeleteI will go with a tidy desk too...
ReplyDeleteSuch a sad day for us all. I only met Shaz in person at the WOYWW crops, but I know, even from those few meetings, that she was overwhelmingly knowledgeable about any and all crafts, willing to share her knowledge and offer advice without any hint of condescension. The love she and Doug shared was historic, you could just see it in every interaction. She will be missed and for a long time. The fact she got you to buy Distress Oxides is a tribute to her enabling. And your tidy desk is somehow a tribute to her. Maybe, like me, you tidied up your head a little too, and the mindlessness of clearing up left space to think on Shaz and smile thru tears.
ReplyDeleteRemembering Shaz on WOYWW day,
Mary Anne
Hi dear Julia,
ReplyDeleteWell, your desk indeed is a beautiful thing, just like Shaz... my desk today is all Shaz, sharing her gifts to me and also lots of crop 2018 photos as never showed them at time, too busy on trip, too weary when home....
Shaz is there too, wonderful memories. I’m incredibly blessed to have been there. A real miracle day with no small part to Margaret’s generous heart too in holding it as well.
Wow, a photo of your darling ma at your 30th ... she’d come all the way over from Oz now there’s a story behind that, why was your mother in Oz? It’s funny how many in UK have contacts in Oz and vica versa, praying for darling mumma. Another thing struck me too re badge making.
How casually Mr Dunnit said to buy one... only in the 21st century eh.
Hard post to write today, thank you for your love tribute yesterday too.
Beautiful to read of our funny, loyal. loving ShazSilverwolf.
Won’t say happy WOYWW this week.
Prayer hugs,
Shaz in Oz.x

Morning Julia, it all feels a little empty today..
ReplyDeleteGood work getting some tidying done over the weekend and more importantly busying your crafty hands with your LO's, your creative space frames it beautifully. Shaz would be very impressed. A lovely memory and how much fun you will have with that pin badge machine, I collected so many as a child, denim jackets adorned with band names, fav faces and slogans... Happy days.
Stay well, stay safe and Thank you Tracey xx
I always wanted a badge maker too Julia, but as I don't scrapbook have no flair lol. Good for you for getting so tidy and managing a couple of layouts too. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #5
ReplyDeleteThere's definitely something in the mindlessness of tidying isn't there? Therapeutic if we can embrace it. Well done for having good sort, and that's a lovely layout. I do missing scrapping with friends, even on zoom, even that seems to have faded away sadly. Say hi to The Coven next time you chat. I'm having a kiddy fit over the badges - I wanted one of those too, still do, but I can't see the cup! Much love on this difficult day, Lisa-Jane #7
ReplyDeleteWell done for the big tidy up. I feel there is rather an emptiness today so a cleared desk sort of sums it up. Love the LO with your mamma on....30th now that’s a few years ago eh?
ReplyDeleteHuge hugs,
Annie x
I’m feeling a little lacklustre now after reading about Shaz.
ReplyDeleteCan I just send a big hug to everyone who knew her
Lynn xxx
Morning Julia,
ReplyDeleteCan you fo a workshop on how to clear up, I think I need help, I still have Christmas stuff on my desk pushed to one side, your desk looks already to make something amazing.
Thanks for hosting

Well done Julia, love the way you've organised the paper/card, I still need to do something more organised with mine. You never know as some new Useful boxes have just arrived for the cabin because Yes! I still have some empty shelf space in there. Shaz will never have really left us because her blog will keep her alive at least for us and I can tell you it wont be the last time I pop over there for some ideas when I get stuck, God Bless her. Have a lovely creative woyww, Angela,x18x
ReplyDeleteMorning Julia, today feels sad as we remember Shaz. Your desk is looking tidy. I tend to call them badges because circular decorations is too much of a mounthful :) A nice layout on your desk, that was a long distance to come for your birthday. You must have been so happy to see her. Have a great week Angela #21
ReplyDeleteMorning Julia, tidy desks seem to be a bit of a theme! Now all I need is a bit of mojo and inspiration to craft! How lovely that your mum was able to celebrate your 30th birthday with you - the backing paper for the layout is fab. Buttons/badges for layouts confuse me a little - but I don't really do anything other than flat layouts - maybe I need to be more adventurous! Your previous post about being intimidated by Shaz, was pretty much how I felt when I joined WOYWW in 2017. A wonderful place full of crafters who knew everything, and I knew nothing! I received such a warm welcome though, that I was soon at ease. Have a lovely week, hugs Heather xx
ReplyDeleteWell, I've looked but I can't see a cold coffee cup... I have a last nights hot chocolate cup here by my laptop if you want to borrow it. Your desks looks well organised and everytime I see your trolly I want to get mine out of the airing cupboard and use it for what it is really meant for! Filling it with crafty stuff! Of course, there'd be no room for me to get out...but that;s not a bad thing, and it would be fun trying. Stay Safe, keep crafting and creating! WOYWW? ((Lyn)) #13
ReplyDeleteMorning Julia, lovely layout - never heard of them being call Flair, but I've always wanted a badge maker. Have fun figuring out how to put the text in circles.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Diana xx #22
Love Love Love all the tidying and clear desk although have no idea what GKW is. Just realised the little perspex shelf thingy would be ideal for my monitor rather than using my Thesaurus to lift it!
ReplyDeleteSuper layout what a lovely memory. Think I will do some old photos whilst I await my mega photobox order which is due at the end of the week, now I have my mega supply of plain coloured 12x12 card. Saying that you made really good use of a patterned paper for your layout. Sigh
As for badges, me too, many years ago I got the kids Badge-It machine but it never really worked that well. I used to make one each year for my son but gave up. I guess it wore off for me.
So yes love the tidying, very pleasing, you go girl.

A beautiful tribute to Shaz, Julia. Well done.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW,

Morning Julia. Late for me this week - I had absolutely no internet yesterday, so could do nothing - but it seems ok today... Phew - I am impressed. Just look at that space! Things so tidy - well done you. A lovely tribute to a dear friend.
ReplyDeleteTake care. God bless.
Margaret #29
Good morning my lovely.
ReplyDeleteA neat desk indeed, and bravo on the scrap sorting! Same as others, no idea on what your GKW is (though the mind boggles LOL) and nope, the coffee cup got cropped, pardon the pun...
such lovely posts in everyones blog WRT Shaz, she will be missed. Lovely LO and I had no idea the badges are called Flair in the UK. Funny how words take on a life of their own. Have a creative week as we celebrate Shaz and her love of craft.

It’s been a sad week and I seem to have lost all motivation except for stuffing my face. Must try to do better and bet the sewing mojo back on track. 💕
ReplyDeleteHi Julia. A sad week. Your desk tidier than mine. Anne 32? I think x
ReplyDeleteI think all the comments about Shaz on people’s blogs today has shown the depth of feeling for an amazing woman - it’s been good to hear about other meet ups and memories. What a fitting epitaph for her, I hope Doug has been able to read some and that it helps a bit.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, today desk? Goodness, wonder how long that’ll last...... ;-D
Hugs LLJ 9 xxx
Julia, your layout sounds special! Special because it was your 30th birthday, but that your mom is featured in that layout! Memories that you cherish and want to have record of!! Good for you on the tidying!! I have taken note and maybe I can pull that off this weekend.....maybe!!! LOL Have a great Wednesday! Felicia #34
ReplyDeleteYes, a hard post to write today. Tried last night and gave up but now that I have `I will perhaps write something on Facebook for dear Doug. My thoughts are with him, have been for so many days now and i remember all the trauma he has had to put up with over this past year. Nothing like losing Shaz to him though. I can't explain it but I think of them as being two people in one body - you can't have a Doug without a Shaz and vice versa. They came as a pair. Always and forever.
ReplyDeleteA hole in so many hearts today as we come together in the only way we can.
Take care of yourself Julia
Lots of Love, Neet 17 xx
I thought I posted when I added my link, but it was 3 A.M. and I must of just dashed off to do a few. Now it is Good Morning and that it is it is a +1 out of the below zero temps. We must all be sorting. I did my scraps a few weeks ago by color in file folders and in a box right beside me and I have used more than ever before. Whoever has to go thru this when I join Shaz will do a lot of wondering !!! No one but another crafter would understand. Have a good week Julia, losing a friend zaps you anytime anywhere. Enjoy the memories
ReplyDeleteHello, Julia.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the body of friendship and love you created through WOYWW. It really shines through as I read everyone’s heartfelt thoughts of Shaz have been shared.
Sending hugs.
Kathryn
Your desk looks terrific! Great job sorting and stacking ~ especially the scraps tray :) Love, Karen
ReplyDeletesorry Julia for being so late - I usually start with you and then go round the other desks- I must be going potty! I love that you found a photo of your mum and you <3 . I miss my mum SO much. Yayy on getting the badge/button/flair maker. All that tidying and sorting must make you feel good :) Take care xxx Soojay 32
ReplyDeleteNice busy desk, and those papers look very organized! I'm sure they will get used more that way. When I was a younger I had a button maker, buttons were all the rage in the 60's! I have no idea what happened to it! So sad to hear about Shaz, I always was in awe of her, so full of life! Lindart #35
ReplyDeleteimpressive paper organization. Not quite ready yet to tell a Shaz story.
ReplyDeleteI love that sorted look to your scraps Julia, I struggle with words frequently so, that is how I ended up with so many photographs I think. Maybe I should scrap some more of them. (( HUGS )) ~Stacy
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, just realised that I haven't left you a note on this post - I think I may have left one on your previous post dedicated to Shaz. Yesterday was all a blur after I'd found out. I was so sure she would pull through - wishful thinking, I guess, and reading between the lines now, probably unrealistic as well. But in a way it's good that I didn't know until Wednesday because reading all the other tributes helped process the news and made me realise that through her blog and legacy Shaz will always be with us. Hope you're well xx zsuzsa #31
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visit, Julia. There have been so many wonderful tributes to Shaz, haven't there. On the subject of the yoghurt, I have heard back from Tesco and will be blogging about it next week but it looks hopeful! I was buying 4-6 tubs a week. Skyr yoghurt is no good for us because it's made with dairy milk and we are whole-food plant-based and do not eat dairy products, but thank you for the suggestion. I have got some gift box svg designs that close like my Valentine card - it was fun to find a card based on the same idea. I'm glad you liked it.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week.
