What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 594

Before anything else, I have to tell you about yesterday’s tech shenanigans. Well, not to bore you, but if you can’t see LLJ on the list, or if her link doesn’t work, it’s still worth visiting. You can go old school and type her url into your browser instead! www.lunchladyjansfabricfrenzy.blogspot.co.uk.
I deliberately haven’t made that a link, we’re not actually sure that links will work from here to there. Or they will. We can’t work out what the problem is. Was. We’ll see. If any of you use BT for Internet it would be interesting to know if you’ve experienced any problems too.
Meanwhile, back at the messy outpost....
I’m trying to come up with some card designs for Christmas, using some of the new Woodware stamps. I’m a great fan of Francoise’s designs, but I can’t use them like she does, her colouring is amazing. Anyway, I decided to paper piece this little reindeer and that’s where I shall pick up after chores this morning. The stamped image is resting atop a basket full of Twinkling H2Os, pulled out and (literally) dusted off in a vain attempt to avoid using my TriBlend felt tips again. Still loving them! Behind the basket is some of the new air pump mica sprays from the Cosmic Shimmer collection, very nice they are too. I’ve got four, and used one, twice. When I’ve made something worth showing, I’ll show and tell. On the iPad stand is a set of Christmas sentiment stamps. Don’t know how or why they are there. Behind them, Belinda, is a couple of postcards from my daughter’s company, I’m a tier 1 sponsor and one of the perks is a couple of postcards featuring cells from the animate. Check it out on You Tube - High Hopes Low Rolls. It’s a thing of beauty. There’s a few completed cards at right back, with angels on them, and trying to use up scraps again. The rest of my desk is a mess of powders, discards and stuff I might need so don’t want to trot back to the other room. You can tell I’m trying to make some nice cards, even the box of ribbons has put in an appearance, peeking out from under the desk, show what you’re desk is accommodating this week will ya? Thanks!

  1. I use BT Julia and I don't seem to have had any problems. Hope Jan manages to sort it out. I probably won't be visiting until the weekend as I have so much to do between now and then anyway. Look forward to seeing Mr Reindeer on a card. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #1

  3. Morning Julia. Well, what shenanigans indeed - trust all gets sorted soon - can't have you unable to communicate with our Jan, now can we?! Can't give you an answer, I'm afraid, as I'm not with BT - Plusnet here! Have fun with your paper piecing - get the tasks out of the way real fast, then enjoy the time in your space.
    Take care. God bless.

  4. |Yep! Another BT internetter here. I could not upload you to link you when using Chrome. Had to go to Safari. Strange but maybe that is similar to LLJ's problem.
Paper piecing a reindeer, looking forward to seeing the finished result. You will share wont you - before Christmas please.

  6. Happy WOYWW. I actually have made 2 Christmas cards - both simple ones from Craftsuprint. I will make some more, but definitely not in a rush. Hard to think about Christmas right now. I love that Reindeer stamp. Ali x #7

  8. Ugh. IT issues area pain, even with a support person as a hubby. I know nothing about TriBlends so will check them out as I have loads of time to kill in Salisbury today. Oh and the postcards. Def. something I will look in to - we send a lot of them, even in the days of email over snail mail. I think I have some Twinkling H2Os someplace as well. Funny, you drop out of crafting for a while and lose track of what is in your stash - it's a voyage of discovery every day!

    Happy WOYWW!

  10. I’m well impressed at your creativity...or at least the intention to be. I’m hoping to shake off the cloud I’m under today and get sewing.

  11. I love the paper piecing idea - it can create some really nice effects with patterned paper. I've managed to get to Jan's - what on earth could cause that problem - it's a mystery! We're with BT too, so I'll keep an eye out. Lucky the "old school" still works LOL! Have a lovely week, Julia! xx zsuzsa #13!

  13. Hi Julia, at least your desk is busy with crafty stuff, mine is just overflowing with work stuff at the moment! I'm not with BT, aka Bloomin' Terrible! I hope Jan manages to get sorted. Still too early for me to think about Christmas - two more family birthdays in October, plus 1 wedding ... and then I can start on Christmas! Have a lovely week, Heather xx #15

  15. Is for linking me up, lovely gal! G found that if he turned off one of the many BT alarms, I can get through - weird! He wondered if it was one of the pop up adverts on your blog that caused the system to freak out as it's never done it before. Too clever for this tech numpty, I'm afraid. Anyhoo, it was so good to catch up over the past couple of days - if I sneak a Welsh costume to you, perhaps you could slip by the Border guards, lolol!!

  16. Your desk has a wonderful air of confidence about it, you look like you know exactly what you'll be doing next! I love the angel card, and the little reindeer stamp is so cute. Now the last of the birthdays are nearly out of the way I really ought to start thinking Christmas.
Have a good week and hope your IT troubles are soon solved.

  17. Hi Julia. I love Woodware stamps and often fall back on them when I'm stuck for a Christmas idea. I like to stamp the main image onto Festive style papers and then fussy cut them as the focal part on the card then layering over the rest of the design. I'm afraid my desk is not so interesting today but I'm here anyway. Have alovely productive woyww, Angela x20x

  18. Good morning Julia, I’m here despite there being nothing on my desk as reading has become my thing at the moment.
I still want to be in the gang so I’m just going to post whatever is in my head in the day rather miss out altogether like I have over the last few weeks.
We are now in Tier 3 in Lancashire and so is Greater Manchester whose border is yards from our front door so looks like there’ll be even more reading being done.
    I’ve missed you all

  20. HI Julia, what an industrious desk you have there! I love the little reindeer stamp and paper-piecing will be a perfect way to use it I reckon. Oh I hate getting techy problems, drives me nuts, hope it's all sorted now - I just tried Jan's link and it's working fine for me. I've just spotted in your previous post about the December Zoom Crop, fab idea, hopefully I will be able to join you and would be great to "meet" you all at last as I've never been able to come to the IRL crops.Happy WOYWWday :o) Annie C #23

  21. Love your desk Julia - it always looks so busy!
I make Christmas cards all year round as I am on two Christmas DTs - the worst month in January I think.
Hope to get around to everybody this week.

  23. Morning Julia! I do believe I have just bought that angel stamp by woodware. Do give me some ideas on how to use it! I thought she could be paperpieced/decoupaged but I haven't even inked it yet. Hope you manage to get some cards done today - it's certainly a day for crafting here! STay well, stay safe, Cindy #25

  24. Oops got way laid by Jan's internet problem and getting to her page no problem (I have BT internet btw) and nearly wetting myself with her welsh meme.
Anyway, here I am post surgery and had completely forgotten there was such a thing as making CHRISTMAS cards. I am so out of touch that all the products you refer to are alien to me - oops. I'm still alive though. BJ#26

  27. Very creative and messy desk! I love challenging myself with stamps I don't like, to make them into a card that I do like, have fun! I love the angel card on the top of your Christmas card pile! Have a great week, Lindart #34

  28. Boo,;) Hey Julia, I am grinning because, I tend to buy stamps that I like the design and just do what ever with them so, now you have me curious about the people who make the woodware stamps as I had gotten a long tall skinny Christmas Bethlehem scene recently and was just going to start coloring it soon.
I like what I see with your reindeer, it looks like a darling one. ~Stacy #33

  29. Hi Julia, I too like a lot of Woodware designs, I never take note of the designer's name. I did like their Christmas ones this year, but I haven't bought any. I use BT, so far no problems, but the World Wide Web can be a little odd at times x Angela #36

  30. Cute reindeer stamp. I don’t think I’ve heard of Woodward Designs, I may have to take a peek. I will also go to LLJ’s site if I can. I had trouble with blogger yesterday, but it could have been me too. Have a wonderful week! Dorlene #37

  33. Hi, Lady!
    Looking pretty busy there!
I understand so well those internet problems. Not that I know what or how or even why, but we too have problems with our “wavy things!”

I have tried to download Zoom. The site I chose wanted to upgrade me and charge me! So I uninstalled it! If any of your American friends know what site or link to use for Zoom, for free, would you please forward the info to me? Do you use Zoom with your sis? Or anyone else in the U.S.? And it works?

Thanks, Julia! Are you locked down, again?
    Stay safe!
    Happy Wednesday!

  34. Love your busy desk! Cute reindeer! Love the angel card that I see. I think most deskers are working on Christmas cards. I just finished 4 for my Nov. class. Anyway, nice large group of gals this week. I'll be working through the weekend visiting!
    Have a great week!

  35. Thank you for your visit, Julia, and I'm glad you like Tiny Carpet #5. I'm hoping to have it finished by Wednesday - making good progress on the background now. I'm with you on Islamic design - it is infinitely pleasing and satisfying. Can't wait to have enough time to start experimenting with the geometric drawing. Ahh, Medjool dates! I was never much of a fan of dates until I discovered this variety. Stuffed with a little almond butter they are utterly delicious! I am still trying to decide what to do with that glorious box now all the dates have been decanted and stored.
