What’s On YOur Workdesk? Wednesday 587

Well hello! Is it Wednesday already? Good grief. How?  I’ve been a little bit over-involved in the last week, but did manage to tidy and clear the desk so that I could attempt to take part in another online crop last weekend. I didn’t manage it - what you see is the day one first challenge which I was working on yesterday and that clearly remains unfinished this morning!
There’s a good mix of gubbins and GKW, but generally it’s quite tidy isn’t it? For me! It’s only because I’ve only done part of one layout so far. The lovely boxes at right are packaging for a glass pen with a barley twist nib and lots of little bottles of mica enhanced ink in various colours. The idea is to dip the nib and the twist in the glass keeps the ink moving sufficiently to write without running out of ink after about 3 letters. Works too. Wish I had calligraphic skills to really make the most!  Show and tell will you, I’m slow to respond, but I will!

  2. Morning Julia. Yes, don't pass out with shock - it's me! That pen sounds fascinating. Never heard of one - but then, I don't do calligraphy, either! Good start to the page - hope you get it finished.
    Take care. God bless.

  3. Oh I love those glass pens. They come in such pretty designs. Never had one myself but did buy one as a gift for a friend some time ago. Wouldn't mind one so might put it on my wish list. Not that I can do calligraphy but I could maybe draw with it. Pretty boxes too.
At first I thought your LO matched with the deckchair but it doesn't although it is quite an eye catching LO you have there.

  4. Love the sound of that pen Julia. At least you managed to get some scrapbooking done even if the layout isn't finished yet. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #6

  5. Happy WOYWW. I did my first every scrapbooking crop a few weeks ago - online, of course. I ended up doing 3 LOs, all using Canva to make it quick and easy. I haven't got the time, energy or stash to create paper layouts to the standard that many others were doing! I love those pens. Have eyed them up a lot, and still on my Amazon wish list. Just starting another lettering challenge today, so perhaps I will be capable of some of the fancy brush lettering soon. Ali x #4

  6. Good morning Julia. Yes that really does look tidy this morning and I love the look of the LO you’re working on. I’ve always fancied calligraphy skills and tried many times but never really mastered the art either.
    Hugs,

  7. Morning Julia, just popping in to see how you are and what you've been up too not been online much over the past couple of weeks been dealing with outdoor things and the usual that keeps me from doing what I love.
Those glass pens are very beautiful and clever things and they write beautifully, like drinking wine from a crystal glass. Lovely colours in your page surrounding a sweet wee one I see awww.
Don't lose your phone, I see it hiding :))
Happy WoywW to all, hope to come join in soon, take care Hugs Tracey xx

  9. Hi Julia, desks looks tidy to me and the layout paper looks lovely and lively. Pens sound interesting and will have to look into them, not heard of them before. I did get a copy of the new Calligraphy magazine and a pen too but as usual both have remained unopened, I am so naughty! Have a lovely creative WOYWW and don't forget the phone is hiding under the box I know if that was me I would forget where I'd left it Lol! Hugs, Angela x10x

  14. I've tried one of those glass pens but the ink didn't really flow properly - must have been the type of ink I used! Happy #587, Julia! xx

  15. HI Julia, that is definitely a busy but organised desk! Love the beginnings of your scrapbook page, I always think a colourful patterned background looks fab but I'm not often bold enough to do it. I have one of those beautiful pens too, I was sceptical but it really does work doesn't it? Hopefully will work brilliantly with mica inks which sometimes seem to clog other pens for me. Happy WOYWWday :) Annie C #16

  16. Morning Julia
I love that paper you're using. Looks fab with the photos. Your pens sound really interesting. I don't have many pens of any type preferring to stamp. Will have to investigate these.

  18. Hi Julia, that pen sounds amazing, but likewise, no calligraphy skills here. Used to have a teacher who compared my writing to a spider that crawled out of the inkwell across my page! Its a bit better now, lol, but if it's just notes for me, I'd give a doc a run for his money! Fab paper for the layout, love it. Stay safe, love & hugs to you both, Shaz #14 X

  20. Well my 3rd attempt at commenting...A good organized desk and great colors. A "GLASS" pen and Mica how fun. Would love to see the papers you use it on. I was invited to a fun gathering, gals gathering to work with their favorite paper making. Just needed to see people with common interests and get away. It's a once a month thing and I had fun, None have worked with ATC's so maybe will be showing ideas for some Chrisitmas ones.
We will attempt to visit my son/family soon, they found housing after Derecho destroyed most of their area. Take care enjoy each day and I hope your are all healthy

  22. Hi Julia! I used to have one of those glass pens, I got it at a garage sale, no one knew what it was including me. I didn't find out what it was until I broke the end off it.
:-( Hopefully yours will stay intact! Have a great week! Lindart #24

  23. Hi, Julia!
I have one of those glass pens....so far unused.

We are still trying to track down the leak in the basement. The water damaged two boxes of pictures and other memorabilia that should have been scrapbooked years ago! What a lesson to learn, the hard way!
The insurance adjuster says it may be from ground water.... $$$!

So, haven’t been creative... unloading lots of bookcases to see where the water leak and damage is. A nightmare, I tell you!

    Happy Wednesday and stay safe!

    Kathryn

  28. Hi Julia, we're both scrapping this week. Your papers look a good match for the photo you have there. I have problems with weekend cyber crops - I just can't keep up with all the challenges. Of course, I am the world's slowest scrapper. But it's all good - every page completed is a triumph. Your new pen sounds interesting. Have a lovely weekend. Hugs, Elizabeth x #30

  29. I'll be very interested to hear more about the glass pen, Julia. I follow someone on YouTube who does amazing drawings and doodles and he's always reviewing different pens, and I came across glass pens on there. I think they look beautiful but would be interested to hear how they actually perform! You sound very busy at the moment. Thank you for your visit and for your kind words about my ring. It's now been a week since I lost it and I'm gradually resigning myself to not seeing it again and it's very sad. Still, I suppose there's always serendipity and it may yet turn up! I can but hope. I'm so glad you can't see the mistakes in the cross stitch! The trouble is, I'm too much of a perfectionist! I have managed to correct one of them somewhat, and it looks better now. I'm progressing well with the background now.

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  30. Hi Julia, thanks for your visit. All their cards are individual, some are similar. I make suggestions based on what I have available and print out images for them to colour if required. I also help out with cutting out. It got a bit much last year, but is much better this year x
