I did quite literally take my glasses off and walk away from this last night. Then went back and took this photo...look, the sun finally showed up and cast a shadow on the paper! I’m mid way through a LO as you can see. I’ve cut paper and stuck on to another and now am not convinced its going to be right..I think the paper, whilst a good colour for the photo (both of which look very dark, but aren’t really), isn’t a great match to the subject. Does that even make sense. Lawks. The usual suspects appear..3 pairs of scissors, two pairs of long handled tweezers, lots of new scraps and a basketful of acrylic embellishments from Bramble Fox. Look ‘em up if you aren’t familiar...I use a lot but the basket doesn’t seem to reduce. The Corona Virus information leaflet is on the iPad stand as a safe place. I want the words for use on my actual Lockdown LOs. As opposed to my non actual lockdown LOs, which are just pages I’ve made during the period of Lockdown. Not about lockdown. Oh this needs editing. Forgive. Show me what your work surface looks like to prove you forgive the waffle! Put WOYWW in your post title and link here as usual. Lockdown or not, some things will not change!
No, don't edit out the waffle!! the waffle is what I love about your blog! The papers on your layout are so pretty! Have a good week and I hope the sun comes back soon; it's very dull here today. Helen
ReplyDeleteMorning Julia. No - it doesn't need editing at all! I could hear your voice saying the words, which was just great! You're getting brave with your new blogger computer combo - well done. I'm a dinosaur - use a big old computer which runs (or doesn't) on Windows 7 - don't use my phone in that way at all... one day I'll come out of the dark ages...
ReplyDeleteI really like those papers - if you don't use them for those photos, I trust you won't ditch them.
Take care. Stay safe. God bless.

Morning Julia, I love how you write your blog, definitely don't edit it. I type as I would speak too ... so much more fun that way. I use my tablet generally to blog, I spend enough time on a computer with work. I haven't noticed much difference yet with the new version of Blogger, but this is my first post, so who knows. Have a lovely week, and stay safe, Heather xx #3
ReplyDeleteGood morning Julia, I don't think I've ever been this early and been in single figures before! I love your posts and your way of wrriting - no need to edit, I can hear your voice when I read it! I love the checked paper - pink and aqua are so pretty together.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week, stay safe and well,

Its nice to hear you talking of as you say waffle I really look forward to WOYWDW as I think its one thing that keeps be sane in these hard time,
ReplyDeleteTake care and hope you all stay safe and well,

Morning Julia, don't edit it, it feels as if I am in the room with you, so natural and enthusiastic about life. And I love the pink and grey check paper, very pretty.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW

I love your ‘waffle’ so please don’t edit it. It’s just you and I can actually hear you saying it. We don’t do perfect....well I hope we don’t cos they appear to have removed spell check and I’m sure mine is full of spelling mistakes now.
ReplyDeleteI guess it means we join in warts and all now πππ
Hugs,

Waffle on, Julia! Very pretty paper. The new font is actually quite difficult to read, at least for me. It may be easier on the laptop - the iPad screen is pretty small. Serif fonts help the eye travel along and are easier to read which is why they are traditionally used for body text, but these days fashion seems to dictate the use of sans-serif for preference. I hope you, and everyone else using Blogger, is getting used to the new system and that it doesn’t cause so many problems as the old one in the long run. After Blogger managed to lose 8 years’ worth of photos off my blog, I was happy to move over to Wordpress!!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW,

Happy WOYWW. A very productive and crafty looking desk this week. I did go and look up Bramble Fox. Looks fantastic. Will add them to my list of companies to feature in future blog posts. I was thinking of ordering some, but then remembered that I should be using my Cricut Maker to cut out such items. Another future project! Ali x #16
ReplyDeleteI write as I speak too so be like me and leave it alone. I often think "no, you should not do that" when I begin a sentence with 'and' or 'but' but that is how I talk so I just leave it alone. I say it emphasises what I want to say!
ReplyDeleteYes, I do know what you mean about the colour not suiting the subject. I just guess, if there are people in the photo they are not 'pink' people. Was going to say if it was a photo of a man/men you wouldn't use pink but then men do wear pink shirts these days, and look good in them.
I a glad I am not a scrapper - I don't have to worry about things like that. Go with the flow and enjoy yourself.

Waffling and faffing are a wonderful combination. I might even change my blog name to that. I’m claiming it, before anyone else does. I was once told that I speak to everyone the same, doesn’t matter who they are. It was said as a compliment. I think your waffle is just you and that’s said as a compliment too.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week Julia and I’m still lost on all that tech talk haha
Lynn xx 15
I got what you meant straight away Julia, not waffle at all. I say persevere with the LO. I like the paper combination. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #17 (late on parade today).
ReplyDeleteWell there you are - just read the other comments and I agree - we love your waffle!! I love the idea of Lockdown LOs -its good to have a project and a focus and you will do a brilliant job so I look forward to seeing them. xx Jo #16
ReplyDeleteIt's raining here which is completely different from yesterday. Waffle is good. Looking at that little red basket I would say you've been pretty busy or you plan to be. I must have missed something but I'm wondering what those ball things are hung on the top right, sorry if you've already told us my brain is waffled at the moment. Sending happy woyww hugs, Angela x19x.
ReplyDeleteA trip through the fonts - I use Helvetica too and far by prefer the Sans serif ones, I don't think it's hard to read at all (unlike Shoshi). We all love your wanderings, don't change, lol!!

Oh yes I have been pondering, lockdown pages too but the only thing I have got is a tiny whiny feather my hubby brought into me yesterday. On similar lines to my latest jigsaw piece size! Must get back to my scrapping only just on September 2018 so a while before I get to lockdown, and hoping things will be very different when I eventually get there and will be looking back thinking, well would you ever believe..... LOL. Bit late as took car in for service MOT earlier BJ#21
ReplyDeleteI used Verdana many years also Helvetica, but my favourite is Bookman Old Style. I can't see where to edit??? ;) - It is just great to read your blog each time you post. I am added to your mail list or is it the other way around?
ReplyDeleteI love when the SUN is coming out and shining on my desk too. To see how it is making shadows are just pure fun.
I do hope you are good now with all this coronathingy? It is hard to be locked down for some, I am sure. I really hope every one is OK by now!!
Happy WOYWW

more than happy to read waffle - I did go look at the site - eeek , may have to order!! No sun here today, cold dark and wet :( . Have a great week . Soojay #20
ReplyDeleteChaos reigns everywhere if you ask me . . . oh! you weren't . . .never mind.
ReplyDeleteLove all the activity here today. Wish I could track my photos so prettily, but not my bag!
have fun and stay safe
Christine #25
Love your waffle, Julia. It is so you and perfect. Sometimes, LO's just come together and then other times you faff and fiddle and they never seem to be right do they. Sometimes I just give up, pick another paper and it works!!!
ReplyDeleteFunny how we are all keeping the same things. I've kept that leaflet too to tuck into a LO. One day we will want to look back and remember what this time was like.
Funnily enough I was clearing out and found a Project Life album I managed to keep for a whole year. One page for each week of 2013 and it was so fascinating to see what we'd been doing, things I'd completely forgotten about and that had bits and pieces of daily stuff tucked inside that were very random and ordinary but so interesting 8 years on.
Have a good week
Lisax #24
Ah.. beautiful Julia! I LOVE your way with words, like everyone else here. I know what you mean about the colours and the papers and the theme etc - they all have to come together don't they? So you asked about the stitching - yes I do honestly find it quite lovely.... when I am in the mood. Huge BF fan here too. I've only been subscribing since January and I'm using loads but the darn things are multiplying I'm sure!! Much love to you and yours, Lisa-Jane #22
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, I agree with the font problem. Having the same issue here. I also found when I went into Advanced in Design, that trying to increase the font size there just made it smaller! But font is the only problem I've had so far, so it could be worse. At least in Advanced, there are a lot more fonts to choose from! Love the desk shot, it looks like mine often does after I just decide I've had enough and walk away! Stay safe, love & hugs to you both, Shaz #13 XxXxXx
ReplyDeleteHello Julia, waffle? what waffle? Reads perfectly okay to me. I was determined to get an earlier number today, three off from last week :) Some people must be up awfully early to get their posts done so quickly! The weather has gone quite cool, I was just starting to get used to being in the garden! Love Angela #28
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Julia, ooh since I tend to type out loud what I am thinking I could follow along that thought process just fine. And that leaflet's words will be a cool addition to the lockdown pages when you get to them too. We have not actually received anything in the mail like that where I live, the hospital had some full size page ad's but, no info sheets. so, I think that is kind of interesting too. ~Stacy #30
ReplyDeleteHello Julia! I like your busy desk and I totally get what you mean. I made a layout the other day and I felt like the paper didn't convey the emotions of the picture so I did the crazy craft lady thing and re-did it!!
ReplyDeleteIt's sunny today but cooler than I would like. But I know the heat will return tomorrow and some much-needed weeding can happen today so I guess it's not that bad. Stay well, my friend.
Belinda #33
I love your desk and your stream of consciousness post! Damp and drizzly here today but 5 hours of meetings meant I needed to get out for a damp walk for my own sanity! Happy WOYWW. I hope you have a good week. Stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#9)
ReplyDeleteI think you mean the rectangle pads for the blending tool π€£
ReplyDeleteHi, Julia!
ReplyDeleteYou won't be seeing anything from me today. All I have done this week is more flowers! I'm sure there's too much of a good thing! (even though I think they are lovely!)
I am so impressed with your blog-savvy! I haven't given up hope yet but. . .
I don't see all of your "usual suspects" like two or three pair of eye glasses...
Happy Wednesday!
Kathryn
Oh my goodness, your post made me laugh. Sounds like you were a little tired. LOL. Have a great week. Dorlene #35
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting, Julia. Glad you like the knitting. I am quite pleased with it, despite the fact that the finished bottom ribbing is looser than intended so it no longer sits on my waist but has more the look of a conventional jumper, but I don't mind that, so I am leaving it. Also, the sleeves don't seem over-long now so I'm not bothering to alter them. Once it's washed it will be put away ready for the winter. I'm back to working on the purple circles jumper for now, but have another UFO lined up! I am really enjoying using my longer chef's knife - it gets used for every single meal! This is the best set of knives I've ever owned, and well worth it, given the amount of veg prep I do.

Hi dear Julia.. well finally making my way around. Life happens.
ReplyDeleteYour post totally makes srnse to me, no explanation or editing needed.
Me still hate new blogger.
Its not mobile device friendly. Cannot add videos on mobile on new blogger.
That's a serious flaw to me. Mostly still using old but attempt to use new at start. I'd hoped it would be more mobile friendly.
Its not.
And I've said so.
Like currentscript quite legible. Not as serious a flaw .. but no idea why they'd change fonts!
Re scissors i too have an addiction. I have kitchen ones, and cut my fresh green beans at a nice 45° angle in about 4 slices. Love fresh beans. Really nice at mo.
Interesting what arrives on our desks. Or disappears from... isnt it??
Thanks for sharing, and may God bless and keep you and all whom you love safe and well.

Hi Julia,
ReplyDeleteNot sure if I'm late for last Wednesday or early for next, but hey ho!
This does look like a satisfyingly busy desk, although I'm curious as to whether all the scissors do the same job or if they all do different jobs, in which case how do you tell them all apart? I have two pairs of black handled scissors, which I can only tell apart because one has "Scotch" engraved on one side. The Scotch ones are meant to be for fabric only, and the others are fine for paper but will absolutely mangle fabric. Somehow they always end up on the desk together, and at some point some fabric ends up getting mangled or the Scotch pair end up getting ever so slightly blunter...
Looking forward to seeing the Actual Lockdown work, as opposed to the Non Actual Lockdown, Just Made During Lockdown work. Lol.
Have a good weekend!
