Anniversary Chat

I’ve been pondering and wondering about the occasion of WOYWW’s eleventh anniversary on Wednesday May 20th, number 572. To be honest, it’s been a sort of frantic pondering too, because despite the slow pace of our current days, Wednesdays have rushed toward May and of course, I hadn’t decided.
There’s a lot of pressure on every service at the moment and several people have pointed out that our usual ATC swap would just add to the burden that the Post Office is experiencing. So we won’t do that.
Of course, a lot of us make extra ATCs for trading at the crop. and we aren’t doing that.
So I think we should really make something of this locked down Anniversary and take the opportunity to do something lovely for our enjoyment. So how about this: drag out a UFO (any craft, any age) or a kit, or ‘thing’ that you’ve promised to do ‘at some point’ and actually do it. Take the challenge and show us on WOYWW 572. I’m such a skilled procrastinator that I have quite a selection to work from.
These cards are a case in point. Shopkeeper Gal has been putting together workshop kits and posting them whilst we’re all staying at home. This was the first workshop, I did it yesterday. It’s been in kit form on my desk for a month. Must be maddening for you doing types! Select and commit then, tell us what you’re going to do for yourself for the Anniversary, I’ll be collecting answers!

  1. that's a good idea, especially not to over-burden the postal services. we can maybe do a celebratory swap once it's all (finally) over! I'll get my thinking cap on to find a UFO for week 572. (that sounds cocky, I don't mean I don't have UFO's but mainly because I don't start things full stop!)

  2. Great idea, Julia. The biggest issue is going to be which of the UFOs or unfinished symphonies that are in my cupboard(s) should I go for... or should I attempt something new - something I have promised myself a go at and never got round to trying... I'll get back to you - at some point - when I put my thinking head on...
Hope the Whatsapp bits came through:-)

  3. I can't miss an anniversary swap, even if it's not the same as usual. I have two projects, one I've started and got hung up on how to finish it, and one I've wanted to make for years. Not sure which yet, but whichever I choose, it will be an assemblage.

  4. I will stop making Arcs immediately, fortunately not too advanced to be unusable for future. I will put them in UFO drawer, and drag the rest of the contents out!! Plenty there to choose from, also have sewing and knitting UFOs, but some not worth finishing, (sewing ones probably won't fit if finished)!!

  5. Why does auto-correct change ATC to anything else, at the moment of posting? See my post, Arcs = ATCs!

  6. I have my ABC quotes book that has been sitting in my UFO pile for a few years, and I have always wanted to finish it. I am only at "I", so I don't know if it will actually get finished by the end of May, but I can sure give it a try! Great idea to get our Mojos going! Lindart

  7. so many choices- this is a hard one. If I'm lucky, an embroidery I've been working on for 5 years, or a shrug that is in the knitting queue ...or that book that is half sewn or.... this feels a bit like a new years resolution!

  8. Ooh, you are a clever lady, Queen Julia, I do, really do love this idea!
I think if we had a WOYWW competition to see who is choosing the oldest UFO, I’d win hands down.🤚🤚🤚
    Won’t say how old.
Will see if can actually finish first, but think it would be fun to add few random challenges to UFO, perhap??? 😉🤔
    Lots of love Shaz. X
PS my WOYWW 572 will hopefully reveal all, it’s not papercraft by the way... or inky in any way, but very ancient!
PPS Especially love folks who have pop up comment boxes, sigh! this week I’m skipping any embedded comment boxes, my eyes can’t cope with mobile this week. On iPad now. So thank you Julia ❤️❤️❤️

  10. Well Julia, I was wondering how the anniversary would be managed this year. You have come up with an amazing way to celebrate. I already have one UFO in mind and will now start searching the cupboard..... I am sure it is up the back somewhere??

  14. Anything to unburden the mailman (says me who is shopping for stamps like crazy, sorry Mr Postie). I suggested this at our local club and we are doing a tag swap but all keeping our own tags and then at the end making them into a book.
Now what shall I choose, can't do my to suitcases as my brain will not cope, honestly, but I will find lots ato do I can assure you. Besides which I would probably have an asthma attack if I got the suitcases down fro all the dust!
    Hugs, Neet xx

  16. I am sitting and thinking now. Cannot think of a UFO, except for my constant promise to myself to do some more scrapbooking pages - and I do have a project to start that has been sitting on top of my A3 printer for ages. Perhaps I will do that - a large mixed media canvas. Will think more and will have something to show for the anniversary post. Ali x

As I have so many it’s a perfect excuse for more procrastinating haha
