What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 553

My word Deskers, I’ve had a week of easing back into routine. You can’t tell because you were never shown the problem, but I’ve done a lot of sorting; the empty space behind me is bigger and the box at my feet now contains cards and envelopes that are sorted and useable. Oh, you can’t see that either!
Two things strike me though..you can see the wooden desk surface which hasn’t early happened for a while, and - I have real card making with real wooden stamps going on! Bee elll double isss. Bliss. There is plenty to do in the next week, but I’m going to try really hard to make a stash of cards just for the love of the stamps. They’ll be simple and uncomplicated because otherwise I’ll get a ‘thing’ about using techniques, or not being able to get the idea from head to paper, so it’s all systems go with the flow here!
So how’re you doing? using your workspace already this year? Show and tell please. Perhaps enjoy this teeny unchanging section of 2020!

  4. Simple, uncomplicated crating is often the best - you're doing the card equivalent of my stripey crochet blanket, it doesn't always have to be high art!

  5. I intend to do the same - make a batch of cards! All my card making friends got (or are getting) the same card over twelve months, then I will change and do a different one but enough to service all my friends with a card. Only difference is, mine are not wooden mounted stamps.
Already I have fallen by the wayside on my idea of a Christmas card a week - this week I will have to make two!
    Keep up the good work
    Hugs, Neet 4 xx

  7. Hi Julia, birthday cards on the go for me. Too many people have birthdays so close to Christmas but I've managed to get them done. Good luck with getting everything done at your end. Happy crafty woyww, Angela x8x

  8. Ah quite concur re wooden stamps Julia, was using one yesterday in. Demoing to a fellow crafter, who isn’t as much into stamping as we are and she was amazed at amount of stamped embossing on my current cards.
Yes, it was a lot but didn’t think anything of it, funny aren’t we? What we love is no trouble at all! Hence love of wooden stamps and I know many others though who’ve removed all off wooden blocks! I love them and use stamp-ma-jig quite happily if needed in sediment stamps.
Your space looks comfortingly familiar as the wooden desk is front and centre.
My desk too is little clearer and also behind and around me, as much cleaning up going on! Finally catching up with comments only to fall behind again as it’s time for my late arvo or early evening walk or it’s too late.
Happy WOYWW. Thanks for being a blessing, and may God bless you too.

  10. Hi Julia, I love wood mounted stamps.

I need to make some cards up. My supply has been depleted as I had to use them up whilst my shoulder was healing.

  11. I still love proper wooden stamps and I know what you mean about techniques as I often get too many ideas and end up not finishing anything! Fair play on the sorting of the new space I need to look to use up/pass on some little used items and sort out too.

  13. Happy New Year to you Julia, I just wish I was half as organised as you - my desk is completely clear but my creative mind is cluttered and just won't work! Have a great time making all your cards and enjoying your stamps.

  16. I've been in a creative slump since before Christmas but I'm making flowers to get going again. Your desk looks like you are going to be very creative soon my friend. I have to keep order in my world or I lose things. So after each project I try and straighten a bit.

  17. Hi Julia, yes, feeling much better, funny how being 'ill' totally sucks out the desire to do any creating at all. Didn't want to do anything, honestly.
I spy my favourite Adirondacks on your desk, still love them a lot! Have a great week, Hugs to you both, Shaz #6 Xxxx

  18. Hi Julia, I can't say I've really cleared up from the holidays. Should have. Haven't. I have decided that all cards made this year will be as simple as possible - I haven't got time for complex designs and, besides, it's cheaper to mail cards made with as few layers as possible. Like you, I love my wooden stamp collection but don't really use them often enough. God luck with the 'flow'. All the best for 2020. Hugs, Elizabeth x #18

  20. Hi Julia, you asked about the flower making technique being used on my desk this morning. First you stamp and then die cut the flowers; lay them into the mold, spritz with water and cover with the top and run through your die cut machine. It is such a huge help when making many flowers and if you have arthritis like I do. It helps so much for us older gals! Now I don't know how I ever managed without them!

  22. Sounds like a good plan - finished stuff always makes me feel good :) My room is still in a mess from Christmas - when I had to actually using my dinning table for food instead of craft and quickly shove everything out of the way. It is once again covered with craft stuff but everywhere else is a mess- all well.
    Happy New Year xxx

  23. One nice thing about a tidy desk.... you can spread out the stuff you're using! Maybe even find it!
    Have a great week!

  24. I think a lot of us are restocking our card stashes at this time of year, Julia. We have quite a few family birthdays during the first half of the year although sadly no longer Mum or Dad, so also, no more mother's day either... Your desk certainly does look tidy! I haven't got any wooden stamps any more except one that says "hand made by" - I took them all off and mounted them on cling foam, and made ink blending tools with the wooden bits!! Thank you for your visit, the only one so far! Glad you like my new stamp. I got it on Ebay and am looking forward to using it. Making batches of cards does seem to be a good idea because you can make a production line of it. Once you've got all the stuff out for one you might as well make a lot. As for the accounts, for us it's just personal stuff, but perhaps I need a string of clamouring customers to make me get down to it haha!

  27. Hi, Julia! Tidying up sure gives a good feeling, doesn't it. Doesn't last long here! I like the "cards and envelopes, ready to use" bit. I am trying to find the proper envelope as I make the card. I did better this year than last. I was making and sizing envelopes last minute many previous years!

    Happy Wednesday!
