What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 546

My darlings and I used to complain about certain film directors using ‘darkovision’ as a lighting choice. Clint Eastwood is one. We often used to throw popcorn at the screen and moan because we were missing details because of poorly lit scenes. Well, the irony is not lost on me, as I have had to turn on overhead and desk lamps in broad daylight to take this photo!
Looks as though I’ve set up in a cupboard! It’s fine. When I need daylight I will work in the extension. So my desk shows all sorts of things. A six pack of curling ribbons propped on the iPad stand. Overseas presents need to be wrapped and posted soon and they are a timely reminder. The pink basket contains the ingredients for one of the Marathon cards, it went very well and now I’m checking and tidying and cleaning prior to using them again on Saturday.  The perfectly placed and intriguing looking white thing near the heat gun is just a screwed up wet wipe. Probably the most real art this desk has seen!  Here’s a twofer. Last night Ink Blender Gal Shopkeeper Gal and I got together around a real workshop table and did a few of each other’s cards from the Marathon. Lovely couple of hours making cards that had been prepared, die cuts ready, mounts pre-cut. Brill.

So there we are, gentle Desker, I’m sort of desk hopping!  Show and tell do, it’s the important part of the day!
Link your WOYWW post here please, all as usual and entirely for other people’s viewing pleasure. Thanks!

  2. Glad the Marathon went well (I saw your FB comment about a last minute venue change) Your desk is very well lit, and your talk of wrapping and posting presents impressive - I've not bought one yet.. Luckily I don't have many and no overseas ones (phew)

  6. So pleased that the marathon was a success and how lovely that you had a chance to make all the cards too! I don't like your room like that, the sooner you move to the old kitchen the better!

  7. It’s so nice to get together with crafting friends. I’m off on a papercraft workshop on Saturday with my friend John, as my mother has decided to abandon me for the company of my younger sister who lives in Oxford. Yes she is the chosen one haha

  11. Not sure what I have been missing here - I do hope that your craft area will be better lit before too long. Nothing worse than working in a dark room (ask how I know). |What a lovely idea for you to craft together trying out the cards - a sure way to see if our instructions are easy to follow. Plus it is always good to have a crafting buddy.
Have a good week and "let there be more light for Julia"
    Hugs, Neet 14 xx

  15. I alwasy have to have the lights on - and I'm not in a box. ou are coping well with all the upheaval. I am strongly beginning to think it is actually me who creates all the mess - I just seem to be surrounded by chaos at all times. Well done at the card group and how nice to get some you time. I hate never getting a card finished at class!! Having been absent a couple of weeks I wasn't quite in control yesterday and they ran rings round me - and there are only 6 of them. Had an unexpected person turn up yesterday but I couldn't cope with slotting her in - I hope she comes back as she is a nice lady and my memory is that I was a little short with her. Still they only managed to do 2 cards so I have 1 in reserve. Look on the bright side. Happy Wednesday, Cindy#18

  18. You are like the Harry Potter of the Workdesk world in your "not quite a cupboard under the stairs but almost" workspace - you've clearly been a wizard with the lighting as it looks quite bright in the photo!
    Love those funny little reindeer!

  21. Oooh..! How do you get on with that large pink tape runner gun? I have had one for years and can’t make it work! Mike has take it apart several times and swears it is working when he gives it back....Not!

Certainly agree with the need for light! There is never enough for me, especially this time of year!

    Happy Wednesday!

  22. Hey Lady! So is your desk set up in your new space or a temporary location? I love the reindeer cups on those cards. So cute. I am trying to uncomplicate my card-making process. So this year, I am using my Silhouette to do much of the work. Well I'm off. Have a blessed day my friend!

  26. Love your darkovision studio, Julia! Very avant garde... It doesn't seem to be cramping your style at all, though! Thank you for your visit, and I had to smile at your remark about the mushrooms - it made me think that I must be grooming them when I brush them! They certainly repay me in kind, keeping so beautifully, all cleaned up and resting in their cloth wraps!

I had some very good news today - my PIP application has been approved, and I shall continue to get exactly the same amount a I've been getting on the old benefit. What a relief!

    Happy belated WOYWW,
