What’s On your Workdesk? Wednesday 544

Ah now, hmmm. If you thought I’d dropped off the face of the earth,  I sort of had. So sorry if my name didn’t appear in your comments this week...I went off to a scrapbook retreat on Thursday morning and that was it. No routine, totally threw me out! You can tell I’ve been away, I had to tidy up!
Taken in the dark. See those vertical timbers? framing for the stud wall. It will be dark in here all the time soon. Temporarily, but definitely till next year. Anyway, in a small distraction from doing bookwork,I had a coffee and used my snowflake mould and foamy clay stuff to make twenty five teeny snowflakes. They are to go in the kits for the card making Marathon which is now at the end of next week. Really, it went from being two months away to the end of next week in minutes, frankly. I don’t get it. Anyway, they’re drying now and makes me feel as if I did a good bit of multi tasking yesterday! That ink pad there, all on its own, is waiting for me to try. It’s a hybrid. Apparently I can stamp with it and it’ll fade away so you can’t see the stamped outline after I’ve coloured. I’m cynical for two reasons -will it work and what images will benefit from not having key lines? I’m going to have to seek enlightenment before I go any further I think. So that’s me.....if there’s anything else vaguely interesting that I haven’t talked about, ask me. I’d be delighted!
Please join in, post a pic of your desk, work space on your blog and link your blog here. I need to see.

  3. Glad you had a good time at the retreat Julia. One missed week of commenting is hardly a hanging offence lol. I use Antique Linen oxide for stamping if I don't want an obvious outline after colouring. It works particularly well with water colouring. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #5

  4. Mmmmm wonder if that inkpad would work well with my Dylusion figures - no definite lines showing where clothing is etc. Mind you the faces might be a bit tricky - would they have noses?
Good luck with those snowflakes and the marathon - I need to do a marathon with some "C" cards - on my own!
Have a good week in the dark.

  5. Morning Julia. Oh dear - we all thought the same - that your little snowflakes were tablets... ooops!! Are we that difficult a thought on a Tuesday evening before a Wednesday??!! Hmmm... like you I'd be wondering about the usefulness of a stamped image where the lines disappear - maybe a background image which would look like resist once the lines have gone?
    Take care. God bless.

  6. Morning Julia. You must have the patience of a saint with all that building work and the length of time it’s taking. But oh my when it’s done it will be like being given the best present ever. Well at least that’s how I felt when ours was finally over and the last of the sheeted over scaffolding was gone and I could see the outside world again

  7. Roll on Spring....I dislike these dark days. There I’ve said it! I may say it again before Spring too. Love the tidy space but there’s nowhere near enough to snoop at now lol

  10. Morning Julia, well your desk looks ready for action. My whole year has been like your last couple of months and at times I feel like i've slept through 2019. Interesting ink pad, it would be great to try on flower images and water colouring, keep us informed how you get on with it.
    Happy WoywW Tracey 11?

  13. Yes, so understand Julia how perplexing it is months away goes to being next week in minutes. I guess the reality is that it is minutes, just a lot more minutes than it seems to us!
Walls on the way, wow things are looking up..will be interested in your inky results!
    Happy WOYWW.
Thanks for sharing, and God bless, Shaz in Oz.x #17

  14. I'm totally interested in the snowflake mould and am wondering where you find your moulds. Your desk does look very clean this week and I too thought the snowflakes were tablets! Happy WOYWW!

  15. You must have been up early for it to be so dark still - unless the photo was taken last night. I'm intrigued by the disappearing ink! I can't even imagine how that might work. I guess, if you miss the outlines, you can always hand-draw them back for a different look - or just stamp again with a permanent ink. Do let us know if it works! Have a lovely week, Julia! xx

  16. Ooh that card marathon is getting closer!! I am revelling in a non stressful period at the mo - cancelled this week's class as I'm not well so I'm one in hand and none next week as I have to take mum for her cataract op. Got my daets all booked till the end of Jan but going to cut it down to once or poss twice a month after we get back from Feb. I do enjoy it but the prep is taking up too much time. How you gonna cope with that dark room? Happy WOYWW Cindy

  18. Hi Julia, the word retreat makes me think of a restful, relaxing, chilling out kind of event - I could do with something like that right now - but I suspect your retreat was maybe a busier and more productive affair. Hope you enjoyed it too. Those tiny snowflakes are going to make lovely embellishments. Be interested to see how you get on with the ink - I'm thinking flowers might work well. Good luck preparing for the marathon. Hugs, Elizabeth x #20

  19. After you try out that new ink, please give a review. I'm curious too!

Don't work too hard, now. So exciting to have so many crafty events! They lead the build up to Christmas!

    Happy Wednesday, Julia

  20. Hello Julia, the work is progressing behind your desk I see. Have you come back from your retreat bursting with ideas? I can see the value of your inkpad when painting, but suppose it faded away and you hadn't finished!

  21. My jaw dropped in awe seeing you very tidy desk! Until you explained the snowflakes I was thinking they were pop dots or something of the sort. Have never heard of that kind of hybrid ink pad.
I was wondering how Shaz was doing.
    Have a great week!

  22. I really, really want to see the snowflakes! I can't seem to zoom in on the photo either, so will just have to wait until the fruits of the card making Marathon are put on display!

  24. Hello, Julia, I know it’s not a proper WOYWW post, but I’m trying to reconnect with folk - my laptop died, I had to get a new email... I’m borrowing a friend’s spare iPad to keep in touch... Hope you don’t mind x
