What's On YOur Workdesk? Wednesday 494

Well, I don't mind admitting that I didn't think I'd get as far as a blog post this Wednesday. There are some jobs aren't there, that take a billion times longer than they should, and every time you think you've nearly finished, something else hoves into view to spoil the look of the finish line. So it is with me this week. But last night I decided to file the LOs I did at a Crop last weekend. I had pencilled some journaling onto a couple of the pages because I'd forgotten my fountain pen. And now, in the cold light f a Wednesday in late November, I think I quite like the pencil and will be leaving the pages as they are. 'As the artist intended' is the phrase, I believe!
You can tell that I'm working on top of stuff..there's an open hanging file there, but a girl's gotta have some fun after hours, huh! Do show and tell, let us see that you're ahead of the game with all the seasonal upcoming stuff....I know you will be. The creeping sense of panic I've been feeling is starting to form a knot in my stomach now...seriously am going to be Mrs Deadline this year!

  1. If ever there was an excuse for " I can't be .....'d to do any more to them" lol. Layouts look great. I did have to force myself to do some more to my Christmas cards on Sunday. not done anything else however. At least with a home too full to decorate for the season I don't have that to worry about! Have a great week, Mrs Deadline!

  5. The word deadline puts the fear in me before i've even finished thinking the word let alone say it. Everyday leaves a surprise or unexpected outcome for me atm. Glad you found a little time for crafting Julia I love the look of pencil on pages it leaves it's own little statement that it can be erased at any moment.
Deep breaths & Thank you for hosting..

  6. Morning Julia, the layouts look great, glad you managed to squeeze in some crafting. Hope you had a great time at the Crop. Deadlines are like rules - they can be flexed when the need arises lol. Have a lovely week Heather x #9

  7. Wee hours of the morning, but somehow I got way to hot to sleep. A warm up out with lots of fog here right now. Before the Christmas arrives I've 14 family birthdays to have cards for. Thinking my annual holiday letter will be a short one, done on a day of joy so it sounds good. I like that pink page you have on top. Enjoy each day

  8. Seasonal stuff, like everything else is being done in short periods but I have a feeling the 6 Memory bears I’ve got coming today will e more than enough to fill my manageable sitting time so, if time doesn’t allow I just may have to buy some cards to finish off (but who cares?).
    Hugs,

  10. No seasonal stuff here, either, but at least I did manage to spend some time in my studio this week! I often work on top of other stuff and generally can’t find anything... Glad you found time to do some layouts in the middle of all your other busyness, Julia.

  11. Mm Ditto on the creeping deadline here Julia! Working on top of things although my desk belies that at present, you can’t see the rest of the house!!! ... and things taking many times longer than you think.. Eg just bought new printer cinch! No probs! Three hours later almost I’m still going. Resorted to ringing Print Assist in Phillipines to help me over the error message hurdle... jus’ as well they’ve set that up. Old printers were much more straight forward, ok no wifi etc!!!
I agree re pencilling on layout! I sometimes think the softness of the lead colour most appealing to eye and somehow script writing looks tidier!!! Love pencil sketches too.
Happy WOYWW, I’m def waaay behind this year.
Hugs Shaz in Oz.x #15 mind you I published five hours ago jus forgot time with printer!!! 😆

  13. The layouts look lovely and you know what, if you later decide to add anything or take it away it's not a problem cos that's the good thing about pencil. Happy woyww, Angela x19x

  14. HI Julia, the writing in pencil is such a great idea- will make the pages truly personal I think. They are some really lovely pages.
I admit that I almost always put inserts in my cards whatever the colour, even white ones. I keep meaning to switch to the way I see most Americans do it, with a single sheet. I always go folded sheet, lol.
You are so right about the NEC! Cannot for the life of me see how they can justify their parking charge. It's one of the reasons behind not going again. Between the parking & entrance fee, it means £30 ish dropped before you even buy a thing, and to me that's just ridiculous. I don't object to a reasonable cost for parking, but that's not reasonable in anyones book but theirs!
Don't know if you have any Sheena Douglass stamps, but I've just added some info on my blog I was sent last night by Marg. Apparently there's some serious questions about the copyright status of many of the images, going back a few years. So it's not wise to use them for sale/charity sales until it's resolved, say Crafters Companion.

  15. Happy WOYWW. Well done for the LOs. Scrapbooking has been pushed to the back of my mind for ages. Definitely something that I intend to do next year, but I know too well that other things may take over. Ali x #22

  16. Goodmorning Mrs Deadline... don't worry too much, there will be another X-mas next year! I love the LOs and yes, pencil is nice too - you're so right to leave it as is! Happy woyww, big hug from sunny Middelburg! Marit #21

  17. Deadlines??? I always have a pack of bought cards 'just in case' standing by and, on occasion, a few have been known to slip into the post ....
I think your decision about the pencil script is sooooo correct..... design should not be dictated to .... your personal choice.
    They do look good though.
    Enjoy your week.

  18. Here's my thoughts on deadlines - if it gets done, great. If not - the world won't end. Chill! Enjoy the season. Looks like you are enjoying the layouts you are creating! Have a great week, Lindart #24

  19. Good Morning Julia, ah deadlines there is a word to make your heart beat faster. I love the look the pencil adds so, I think that is really cool and would probably just leave them like that as long as it does not fade away? what's on my desk is being gifted today so, sure I am "ahead" of the game lol...

  22. Thank you for your return visit, Julia. The situation with the support garments companies is that this particular one is the only one that provides a bespoke service and also home visits, and the only one that uses the special unique fabric which is recommended as the best for my condition. I had a pair from another company once, and ended up not wearing them because they were uncomfortable, being a standard size that didn't fit me properly. As for the prescription, they are dealing with this all the time, and they know full well that we are entitled to three pairs per year. I had the first pair, made to make sure they'd got the fit right before embarking on the other 2 pairs - they got that all wrong on the first attempt, not having followed the instructions from the rep who fitted me - and when I confirmed that they were OK, the rep ordered 2 more for me, but the GP mistakenly only prescribed one. I said to the woman on the phone that they could have told me about this anomaly so that I could have chased up the GP earlier. They make 3 garments for everybody because that's the amount we are allowed on the NHS. Their lack of communication just caused even more delay.
