Taken in the pitch dark of a very early morning.
I've got a lot to do today and was sleeping fitfully because of it, so in the end, it's easier to get up and get on isn't it. Might even finish soon enough to have a nap later, who knows! There's a variety of odds on my desk today. Look at that unplugged heat gun. That's rare. It's there as a return to the desk after a trip to the kitchen to help me hasten the defrosting of the freezer yesterday. I know. Don't fret though, I didn't go mad - the oven is untouched! The green ring bound Do It Later book is actually my 2018 diary, specifically designed for procrastinators. It's fun, I'll show you the fun layout when I get around to it. There are lottery scratch cards just under the heat gun. There's one for each person that will be sitting round our Christmas table. You never know! The white and green box is a present to me from Secret Santa. It's a string of lights; well a string of gin bottles. You will see more of them because I intend them to adorn my desk all year round! That box of ribbons is one of three that were from some of Mary's stash. I've been tidying, mentally logging and trying to absorb them into my existing storage, this is the last box. Good view of nothing really! Show me something more interesting will you? Put WOYWW in your post title and link your blog here. And don't worry if you're too busy...we know it!
I am awake early too due to not sleeping well after the office party... and was delayed getting to sleep from dwelling on things to start with. Happy pre Christmas WOYWW
ReplyDeleteMorning Julia - yes, me too. Haven't slept well... Late supper, late to bed, fitful sleep, needed a panad (A Welsh cuppa), so got up! Oh well, I guess it means a good early start on the list. Happy Christmas for next Monday.
ReplyDeleteTake care. God bless.

Oh poop poop, my desk is far less interesting than yours, there's nothing on it. Well, nothing of note. Funny thing is though, we were going to defrost our freezer yesterday but time ran away with us so it is on for today. Was on for every day last week if I am honest. Ah well, bah humbug!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Neet 3 xx
I seem to be hit by the curse of not being able to comment! Darn it!
ReplyDeleteHope this Christmas is all you want and more....
A-ha! So it only works if I comment via the web version and not the mobile one.....
ReplyDeleteGin bottle fairy lights huh? Your asecret Santa knows you well! Hope your busy day goes like clockwork and you sleep better tonight.
ReplyDeleteHugs LLJ 6 xxx
For the first time in nearly a week we have a warm house and I was able to have a warm bath before getting into bed so I slept like a log last night....I can never sleep when I’m cold. Really hope you sleep better tonight.
ReplyDeleteI’m sorry to say I’ve not a lot to share today but there’s a bun over there to have with your coffee and I’d like to wish you and yours a very happy Christmas.
Biggest hugs,
Annie x
Hi Julia, it all looks interesting to me but will have to have a better look later as I have to go out for a while. Hope you manage to satisfy your urgency to get things done. One minute Christmas is months away and the next minute it's here! Hope it's a good one for you and your's. Sending big hugs, Angela x8x
ReplyDeleteBetter than the view of my empty desk! Got to rush now so will catch up with everyone later. Happy WOYWW Sarah #9
ReplyDeleteSorry Julia, obviously too early in the morning for me!!! Can you delete me at number 11 please?
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of the Lottery Cards .... may filch that one!
I am going into town today so will look out for that Diary, sounds right up my street.
Have a wonderful Christmas, lots of hugs and laughter.
See when it's all over.

Love the idea of gin bottle lights. I wish you hadn't reminded me about the freezer, ours has worked it's way to the top of the 'to do' list as we get 'snow' whenever we open the door now!
ReplyDeleteHope you get all your jobs done today and hope you have a very merry Christmas next week.

Hi Julia, Hope one of those scratch cards is a winner. The diary sounds good. Those lights are going to make you want a gin:) LOL Loving the ribbons.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW

Hi Julia, love the idea of the string of gin bottles! I think I have more ribbon than any sensible person really needs- I seem to go through phases of using it for a while, then forgetting all about it.
ReplyDeleteAmused by using the heat gun to defrost the freezer :). I hate it when you can't sleep properly. I usually give up after an hour or so, and get up and do something, depending on the time, I'll go back to bed when I start falling asleep. Usually seems to happen to me about 3.00 am. Love and hugs, have a fab Christmas, Shaz XxX #5
Hoping you get that nap My hubby has the scratch off fever...he gives them as his Christmas Cheer to his family, either when we gather or in their card. Too much suspense for me! Wishing You and Yours a wonderful Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, your desk is much as I expected at this time ... covered in stuff that is all to do with preparing for Christmas! Although I would never have thought to use a heat gun to defrost the freezer. Given that you and LLJ are aficionados of gin - the ginhaus visits - those lights are entirely appropriate so look forward to seeing them decorating your desk year round. After all the busy-ness of today, and probably the rest of the week, I hope you have a very Merry Christmas. Hugs, Elizabeth x #17.
ReplyDeletePS: shows what a tizzy I'm in - I've only gone and added my link to last week as well as this one!!!
your desk always interests me and your description of whats on it and whats been going on is the absolute best! Merry Merry Christmas to you my friend,, I hope you sleep well tonight,, that string of lights sounds very interesting!!
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Julia. Your scratcher post made me think of the commercials we are having here in the states. The premise is that people who gave a scratcher as a Christmas gift to someone later regret it. One in particular is hilarious. A son gives one to his parents. They win enough money to take a trip to France. The commercial opens with Mom and Dad (in their 60s perhaps) with several cats in tow as they advance towards a house. Some cats are following, others are all but drug on leashes. Their son and dil open the door to be presented with all these cats and a laundry basket of toys.. announcing they will seem them in the fall. There must be at least 12 cats. LOL
ReplyDeleteHere's to winning something off the scratcher that brings you joy! Creative Blessings! Kelly - see you in 2018
Hey Julia, I think my desk is less inspiring...I am rusty after such a long absence :) I love your basket full of scissors. I would very much like a string of gin bottles on my desk! Your family circle box is making me long for decent biscuits, seriously lacking here in the US. ClaireG #26
ReplyDeleteGah, forgot to wish you a very merry christmas! Claire x
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Julia, yep it seems there was a lot of no sleep going around last night. hopefully tonight will be more rest. We actually received an inch of snow so, I am procrastinating running out the door to work ( watching other people drive in it is nerve wracking haha) :) Have a Merry Christmas! ~Stacy #27
ReplyDeleteOh I could SO have done with a nap today. But need to go sort the washing now!!! Just about managed a post though. Yawn. BJ#28
ReplyDeleteHi Julia,
ReplyDeleteInteresting use of the heat gun-I'll have to remember that one!
Wishing you the merriest of Christmases.
Best wishes,

Julia, your post today just kept me tickled! First off....I hope you get your nap in...how important is that??? Laughed out loud on the "oven" comment...mine has BEEN untouched! Like, forever! LOLOL Hey, I need that "procrastinators diary" REAL bad! LOL LOVE your Secret Santa gift, too, too cute! Can't wait to see them up and running! I would just like to personally THANK YOU for this great weekly challenge to all of us crafty folk! I didn't get to do as many this year due to unforeseen events in my life, but I made a smattering of them. I've enjoyed joining in and bless you for leading the march for us all and making way for wonderful friendships, laughs and fun! A VERY Merry Christmas to you and a BLESSED New Year! :) Felicia, #25
ReplyDeleteOK--Gin bottle lights! Awesome!! I've used my heat gun on the freezer a time or too as well (plus once on the garage door when it was frozen and my husband had to get out to work!)
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a very Merry Christmas and that at least one of your scratch cards wins big!! Hugs!

Hi Julia, I've used a hairdryer to defrost the freezer in the past, but now we have a frost free one, so don't have that problem anymore. I love the idea of gin bottle fairy lights ... looking forward to see them adorn your desk. I had a giggle at your diary - previous years that would have suited me, but after the events of this year, I don't put anything off anymore! Best wishes for a lovely Christmas, Heather #32
ReplyDeleteA string of gin bottle lights... what a hoot! I like the Do It Later book, sounds like me because as I'm writing this (about 1:15 pm my time) I'm still in my pajamas and need to go take a shower but I keep playing at my desk! Hope you have a wonderful Christmas and go take a nap! LOL!
ReplyDeleteCarol N #22
That's the first time I've ever heard of anyone defrosting a freezer with a heatgun LOL! Might just have to try that (without hubby seeing it)! I know the feeling when you can't sleep and then you think, sod it, I'll just get up, but I always end up feeling lousy by mid-morning. I does help if you can have a nap midway through the day - I hope you did! Have a lovely Christmas, Julia! I'll be back for more WOYWW fun next week to say goodbye to 2017! xx
ReplyDeleteps: I spy with my little eyes: a full 12" X 12" ScorePal! I could have got that one but I went for a cheaper version that's only 9" across, but I'm still still very happy with it! It just means I have to keep turning the paper around if I work with 12" X 12" Why did you girls keep the importance of owning a score board secret all these years? I should have got one years ago, but I only just discovered them! Or maybe it's been sitting there on your desk all along and I never noticed it?
ReplyDeletecorrection: my score board is not 9" wide, only 7" - ok, I'll stop stalking you now ;)
ReplyDeleteUnable to join in this week but just wanted to say Happy Christmas. X
ReplyDeleteWell a busy desk an another year is almost through. last night I had an ambien as I have not been sleep and now today I am tired, very tired. I had eye exam and my eyes were dilated so it is hard to see anything. Now will have cataract surgery in a month. Some times I feel as if I am falling apart. Not sure why I am tired just put it down to age, that covers a multitude of sins! DO have a jolyy Christmas and hope the new year is full of great moments with your friends and family.
ReplyDeleteMonica #22
Now Gin bottle fairy lights not heard of them before. Don't lose sleep over what needs doing it's not worth it, take it from one who knows. Tomorrow is another day. Have a great Christmas. Anickoana #20
