I've taken a slightly angled shot of my desk - for the first time in (probably) 444 desk weeks, I cant let you see the right hand end; not because it's too messy, I can't remember ever being that proud. There are a couple of pressies there, waiting to be wrapped.
Right there on my working space is the result of a test run with the new embossing folder - nice bit of knitting. It's a varied dimension folder, so that you only use the base shim and one acrylic plate in the Big Shot. Works a charm when you read the instructions! The oblongs of scrapbook paper folded in half are origami style gift card holders. I found the how-to on YouTube on Sunday and made 10 in about 15 minutes. Nice and easy, and I'm up early to finish them - they are gifts for the wonderful care staff who look after our sainted Mama, and shift patterns dictate that we give as we see now, and I'm visiting today. See you at your place as soon as I get back? Hope so. Put WOYWW in your post tittle and link it here. Great.
wow you are very early!! that sounds a fab embossing folder; but fancy having to read instructions; whatever next!! Have a great time visiting your Mama. Helen #1

GORGEOUS embossing folder - and the plain cardstock really shows up the pattern... wonder how it goes on other paper/card?
ReplyDeleteI was late with the tree and decs this year - nothing was up and ready until the 10th November... but all my shopping is done as far as pressies go - just the food to get in now :)
Have a wonderful week,
Bubbles

ReplyDeleteLoving your Christmas papers and the gift card holders so many in so little time - go you! I have actually made some Christmas cards, don't fall off your chair, 'twas for my SWAP group plus Mum Son and Hubby, so 11 in all. Horrah. Did make a journal page as well and have some more cards pending too. Unbelievable. BJ#10
ReplyDeleteI’ve looked hard but can’t find the knitting in your pic. Either I’m missing something or it doesn’t involve needles and wool down your way 😀😀😀
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Hugs,
Annie x
Sorry Julia, I seem to have linked up twice. Probably because I've got used to having a lie in over the last few days. That embossing folder looks great. Glad you had such fun with LLJ. Happy WOYWW Sarah #12
ReplyDeleteMorning, that embossing folder looks fab, who makes it, I have some very knitty friends.
ReplyDeleteLove Chris
Hi Julia, the embossing folder sounds interesting. I have just bought one of the new foldaway big shots so would love to see more of what you're doing. There seems to be lots of shims and plates available, more so than what I used with my Cuttlebug so still trying to find out what I really need to buy to go with it. Happy woyww, Angela x13x
ReplyDeleteHello Julia. I have that embossing folder/ or one like it - mine is Stampin Up. You sound/look a more prepared than I am. As I said should be visiting with mum yesterday and today - 'plans of mice and men' Hope I can still manage to go before the big day. It's 150 miles - down the M5 plus finding somewhere to stay :-( Hope you enjoyed your visit with your Mum. Anne x #15
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, Your desk is very tidy. The embossing folder looks very useful.

ReplyDeleteHi Julia, your desk looks festive today. It's those papers, of course. I like the knitting folder - very winter sweaterish. Enjoy your visit to your mother - I'm imagining that there is a festive feel to the home by now, and have a wonderful week ahead. Hugs, Elizabeth x #23
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, I have a cable knit EF like that- forgotten about, as always. Thank you for the card- you have the honour of being first one received this year. That die is gorgeous, I think you may have enabled me there- was it from E-Bay or Aliexpress? No desk this week, I'm fine, just had nothing I could really show, and I've been finishing of some Christmas cards- ran out of larger ones!
ReplyDeleteLove & hugs to you both, Shaz XxX
Colorful papers and a neat embossing folder used on that card.It would be really cute used on a Big Mitten die I have. I bought my grandson a unique Origami book for one gift..Using $ bills. He loves creating and I love the book store. It's a Great idea for pretty papers. Enjoy a great week.
ReplyDeleteHey Julia

Hi Julia, is that one of those really thick Stampin' up folders? ( I picked up the wood grain one a while back and looked at that and thought holy cow don't break your big shot and never played with it) so, I guess I will have to see if I have instructions. ( I toss packaging ) lol ha ha ~Stacy #26
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely embossing pattern indeed! And so thoughtful of you to make a little something for the care takers, I bet they will love it :) Have a wonderful week! (Not linking up this week, but still stopping by to say hi :) xo Cheetarah
ReplyDeleteYour desk is full of Christmas cheer. I love the papers and projects are piled up. What's that blue thingy on the left? My guess is a speaker, but not sure if you have some sort of cool tool there. LOL Have a wonderful week! Dorlene #28
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of the gift card envelope.
ReplyDeleteThat embossing folder sounds very technical to me... looks good though.
Enjoy your week

I've just got myself a score board so I can make my own envelopes. It's so easy - I should have got one years ago. I expect your origami envis are very similar to the ones I made with the score board. Happy crafting! zsuzsa #16
ReplyDeleteTime really is racing away.
ReplyDeleteI have more cards to finish off than I care to count **groan** and they have to be ready for Saturday for the last crop of the year.
