What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 427

Yes! It's got cards and stamps and sticky and work-in-progress type stuff on it! Hurrah!
The light isn't terrific this morning, but at least there's visible proof that I haven't been in procrastination mode all week! You can just see a few strips of shiny bobbly background on the white cards. I made them with the bubble wrap and Pixie Powders and a water spritzer. One of you lovely Deskers had been doing it, and I needed to copy. If only to prove that the Pixie Powders aren't the messiest, most uncontrollable and therefore most hateful product I've tried this year. This technique does offer redemption, I must say! There's penguins, waiting for their glitter pom-poms to dry. And no, that's not a euphemism. There's the ATG gun thingy with the tape broken, about 100 feet from the end of the reel. Really annoying. Mr Dunnit's patience will be required for that. It saves broken tape gun, broken window, hysteria, tears and snot, see.
So there y'are, y'all. I will be visiting from foreign shores. Well, shore. I'm going to stay with LLJ for a few days and so we might well be commenting in tandem!
Have a great Wednesday. After you've recovered from the shock of my productivity, share yours too - link your blog post here, and PLEASE put WOYWW in the title!

  11. Morning Julia,

I hope you have a great time with LLJ, it will be nice to see your tandem commenting. I must try this bubble wrap technique, sounds interesting! Good luck with the tape gun, I get frustrated with things like that, it's best I just walk away... ha ha!

  14. Have fun with Jan - I am sure you will! These ATGs are a pain when they go wrong. They're a bit of a fiddle to set up (I always have to find the instructions when I put a new tape in, but then I don't use it that often) but when they're working they are brilliant.

  19. I'm sure that you and Jan will have a great time procraftinating rather than procrastinating lol. An alternative use of Pixie Powders is to puff them onto card then spread with matte medium. You get a lovely streaky effect. Happy WOYWW Sarah #25

  22. Lovely light coming thru that window, something I wish I had in my space. I rally love the pretty technique you used for your cards. I quit buying the big tape thingy...2 of them and neither work, just a lot of money wasted in my mind. Hand yes, if they work. Have a great time with Jan, I love the outdoor scenery she lives by. Can't wait for you sharing your fun time. Safe travels.

  23. Isn't that tape gun the most annoying thing! I never remember how to refill the things either! Nice to see the cute penguins, and have a great time in Wales! Thanks for sharing, Lindart #30

  24. Hope you have a great time with Jan & Gordon, Julia! I have been sorting out/resurrecting my in-progress doctoral thesis this week so haven't been crafting, and therefore haven't posted. Have a good week, all! hugs, Lynne x

  27. hehehhe I get the tears, tantrums, snotty hysteria thing when my PC or printer plays up, really really HATE that!! That Pixie Powder effect looks gorgeous, must try it, I have some stashed away somewhere cos I fell in love with its shimmery prettiness, bought three colours then never got around to using it again. But in my current spirit of using stuff up, I really will have a go - never thought of using it with bubble wrap (which I also have lots of!). Totally cuuuuuute penguins - just make sure yer pompoms are totally dry before you put them away phner phner :o) Annie C #21

  28. Thank you for the warm welcome! I have no idea what Pixie Powders are, but I'm sure in time we will cross paths. Your workdesk does indeed look very productive ... I am still at the stage where I clear everything away once I have finished for the day. Time will tell how long that lasts. Have a wonderful time with your friend, and I look forward to nosying around everyone's workdesks next week. Heather #27

  29. Thank you for your return visit, Julia, and I was fascinated to read about cats and water - we've both had cats all our lives and I've never heard that one before! Our new kittens are quite happy to drink water by their food though, and I am happy to see how much they are drinking. We certainly are having fun with them!

  32. I had thoroughly intended to play this week, but unfortunately, I'll be offline the rest of the week, so it wouldn't be fair to those who leave lovely comments. I hope you and Jan have a great time together and you share your trip, too.

I've never had a tape gun and now I'm glad I decided not to buy one. I don't have a Mr. Dunnit!

Have a safe and fun trip, dear.

  36. Only just realised that I was so jet lagged (it was an hour's flight after-all) last night I forgot to leave you a comment. No worries, I will be at the crop - not sure what I will be bringing with me to do - guess most of my day (like my days when I go to a show) will be spent gassing!
Have a wonderful time with Jan, I am quite envious. Am sure the weather will be good too as she seems to have her own little corner of sunshine down there.
    Now ab out those penguins...
    Hugs, Neet 3 xx
