Six scissors
3 pairs cheap readers...each a different strength..
and then Mr Dunnit said that the work I was about to do could wait for a jolly good reason ( I got the dates mixed up and it doesn't need to be done just yet), so, I relaxed back into the slovenly crafter that y'all know me to be.
Again, taken on Tuesday late afternoon. There is a new bulb in the daylight lamp. This is amazing...I actually remembered to buy one last time I was out. My Union Jack tote is empty on the desk, it's basic contents in a pile at front, behind the tiny blue speaker. I store scrapbook/crop essentials in it see, and I needed to take it to a card making workshop that I attended, so all the scrapbook bits came out. That was Thursday, so you can see how much time I've spent at the desk since. There's a roll of masking paper, and at front those white circles are die cuts which I'm pre-cutting for workshopeers this Thursday. The chocolate box at right is empty and shallow enough for a bulky card. It has a week, and if I don't think of a card for it, it's a gonner. My scrap box, behind the heat gun, looks as if it's exploded, and it probably has. he tissue paper in the immediate foreground is leftover from wrapping a gift. I intend to use it as a master board background thingy. it too has a week. That's enough targets for me!
So, now I've walked you through all the mess, please share your work surface too. It remains a fascination.
so many scissors! were there any left in the house elsewhere i wonder... hope you find time to make a fab card to go in the chocolate box; it's too useful to throw away! but that's why here everywhere is piled high with "it'll come in handy" things and yours isn't.... have a great week.
ReplyDeletelol the things you find when you clean up. I think I might have tackled the paperwork as your desk was ready to go anyway, then that was done, now you need to do the same exercise in a couple of weeks time. Also you're very strict, one week deadline, I never put myself under so much pressure :-) love the tissuepaper, I'm sure you'll find something to do with that pretty design. Have a nice day, Vicky
ReplyDeleteI can never find scissors must have at least 10 pairs buy from Lidl when on offer. My glasses only come off when I go to bed (and sometimes not then!) and go on again first thing in morning, so don't have the problem of losing them. Isn't it amazing how ones desk soon becomes cluttered again. #2
ReplyDeleteOoh empty choccie box upcycled into a holder for a deep card....That's a brilliant idea (I have a couple of those ',gusset' envelopes......Ooh that's not a great choice of words but it's too early for me to worry about that!!😀) but those envelopes restrict me to that size card....I may have to liberate some boxes from the office choccie stash!!
ReplyDeleteKyla
So THATS where my scissors are!! ha Ha love it and you never find anything when you actually need it . Have a great week xx

call me when you find the 5 gold rings! Bless that mess!

arrrrgh! silently or maybe loudly screaming here Julia!!!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry first link did not save, when I thought I'd copied it, and I had hit the linky add link before the poor weary brain registered I'd added a challenge link, and not my blog link!!!!
....sigh! sorry.... then couldn't even spell "right" but wrote "richt".. meybbe wishing i wuz rich, eh??
Love your tidy and crafty you desk of course...
I think I'd find that many scissors and glasses but not on my craft desk for latter as they mainly stay on my face... till bed time.
happy WOYWW,
Shaz in Oz.x who's #6 or #7 or #richt!
I've discovered a new thing for stuffing all my stuff in....fancy cloth bags, of which I have collected many over the years. I've got them hanging round all over the house. On backs of chairs, door handles, hooks in the bathroom. So If I want the place to look tidy quick I just shove it in the nearest fancy bag. Perhaps I should do a blog post about it haha.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week Julia

I bet you had been wondering where those scissors and glasses were hiding. It does us all good to have to tidy up now and then.....even if you got the dates wrong lol. Have a fun week.
ReplyDeleteHugs,

Two very different desk looks this week Julia.
ReplyDeleteI can never find scissors or pens (yes...she of 1500+ craft pens can never find a biro LOL).
Have a great week.
Toni xx
Hi Julia, pleased you have found yourself with time on your hands after all. The chocolate box looks useful but I have a different hat on this week so can't think what I might do with it at the moment. Scissors seem to have a habit of getting lost and I have tried to keep mine in a tub but sometimes that gets so full that the little ones still get lost in there Lol! Have a great woyww and happy crafting, Angela x 16 x
ReplyDeleteI quite look forward to a clean up just to find those tricky objects that have disappeared for months. Have a lovely week.

I simply had to stop by because the scissors looked so intriguing in the tiny icon. I'm so scissors poor, and the three or four I own are all so dull they wouldn't cut butter.
ReplyDeleteHad to laugh at the glasses. I only need mine for driving, so I keep mine in their case. Sure loved the two different desk looks today. And that scrap bin is something I would love to pile into.
Its always great to have a clear out, i did it a few days ago and like you found out just how many scissors, Pencils and rulers I have.
ReplyDeleteHave a great WOYWDW lilian B #20
Hi Julia, Another busy desk. You've reminded me that I need tissue paper.
ReplyDeleteGlad you found the scissors and glasses.
Happy WOYWW

Aaaarrhhh, I write a long comment and just as I send it, the inhouse internet network connection goes down! I had just highlighted it to copy it as I feared the worse but lost it all the same!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnyway as I was saying one pair of scissors seems to be camera shy or preferred to be under the crafting mountain rather than out in the open and vulnerable. Love your "week" deadline, hope that works for you. Happy WOYWW BJ#23
I could actually feel your sigh of relief when you realised your desk could go back to being crafty again, Julia. Love the fact that you give your stuff a week to be useful, I might have to adopt that strategy. I unearthed dozens of old boxes I thought might be useful one day during a clear out.....guess what, they weren't and they've gone!!
ReplyDeleteGreat to be back with you.
Hugs Lisa #26
How fun a clean uo and the find of useful things. It is 3 a.m. here awoke to wild winds and went to link up and no internet. So doing this on my phone. No clue where my problem will be. And I hate to start my day with necessary fixes. Scissors and cheaters are 2 things I have a lot of. They are scattered in a rooms of this house and more in necessary places. Have a good WOYWW kind of day.
ReplyDeleteWhat I can't understand is how it gets messy quicker than it gets tidy?!?!
ReplyDeleteGood to know you will be able to see more clearly now .... maybe not a good thing ..... don't need to see EVERYTHING!
Have a good week

I use those cheap readers too - why pay 100s of pounds for the same thing? That's one of the advantages of tidying up - you find long lost things you forgot you ever had! Happy 405th, Julia! (not sure I'll be able to link up today - I'll see how it goes...)
ReplyDeleteI could have found that many scissors too! Oh, just a minute, I tidied up - now I can't find any of them!
ReplyDeleteRosA #28
Your clean up resulted in a bounty of lost items! I laughed that the glasses were all of different strength. I can't imagine that as I have to wear mine from the moment I awaken to when I lay down to sleep. I've lost 2 pair of scissors and had to buy news but I lost mine when I cleaned up! Probably in a craft box I put away.
ReplyDeleteThat's why it's occasionally good to tidy up. Mind you I have been known to tidy things away so well that I can't remember where I put them, so maybe somewhere in the middle is best. Happy WOYWW Sarah #29
ReplyDeleteIsn't it wonderful what turns up when you have a tidy up - you won't need to buy scissors (or glasses) for a long time now!! Hope you meet all those targets!
ReplyDeleteBernice
I have so may cheap glasses in a range of strengths and STILL I cannot find any when I need them, fed up I tried the new style contact lenses that are like varifocals, only it compromises the long range vision, I found myself nearly arrested for pulling faces at a gendarme whilst trying to focus - He thought me drunk and promptly subjected me to a souffle test, finding me stone cold sober he then thought I had escaped the local mental health institution... I was rescued by Mr D who explained in his ever superior french I was in fact harmless and just having problems adjusting to my new lenses... upon return home they went in the bin and I increased the reserve by investing in extra spares of specs...Also - I find it Remarkable how quickly we can convert the same desk from Highly Organised and tidy office space to craft slovern eh?
ReplyDeleteLOL! It's amazing the things we can unearth when we clear our workdesk... I'll be doing that next week when we have Spring Break in my school district. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, all those pairs of scissors and spectacles - I had to laugh :) I think I need to clear my desk completely ... I might find the zip that went missing a week or so ago! Have a wonderfully messy day. Hugs, Elizabeth x #34
ReplyDeleteYou showed us your scissors collection, I'll show you mine next week. There's a story behind them. A week, eh? You're going to be busy. I look forward to seeing what you create rather than pitch. :-) Creative Blessings!
ReplyDeleteKelly #37
It's amazing the things you find in a clear up! Lot of scissors to find. I know that somewhere on my desk is a tape gun and a die pick...if only I could find them!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW

It does you good to have a good sort out and tidy up - my work table is calling to me to do just that before Tilly Tea Dance comes and fills it with dumfing lovliness again! x Jo
ReplyDeleteI am totally grinning over the scissors you unearthed and The peepers ( I only have one pair RX, so that is not something I lose) and YAY for remembering to get a new lightbulb. :) ~Stacy #39 Me, I had hubs help me haul up the old sofa table I used to color at in that spare room downstairs so, I can now sit to color up here.
ReplyDeleteJulia, I feel so close to you right now. When you said craft junkyard--I screamed YES!!! That's exactly what I have on my hands, so of course I had to steal your phrase and use it in my post. Although, I think your desk actually looks smashing. Hugs to you. Sorry I've been MIA for a few weeks!! Sandy Leigh #40
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing what you find when you are tidying up, isn't it! I'm glad you've got a bit of respite before you have to tackle the dreaded paperwork. I am going to have to try and get mine sorted out before my next stay in hospital or I'll never get it done in time! Horrible job.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW,
Shoshi #41
I love your "it has a week" concept. I must use that for my saved items as well. That will make things a lot easier! Thanks for the great idea. Dorlene #42
ReplyDeleteThe things we find when we clean up! Hilarious! Did you know you had that many scissors? I'm lucky to find one pair! Sounds like you've been a very busy girl! Thanks for sharing, Lindart #43
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your work space each week. Makes me not feel so bad when I go to work on mine. Isn't it amazing what you find when you sty to sort a little. LOL Keep working, even though it gets messy. I do. Edna b
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, your posts do make me laugh. The reading glasses I can identify with- I find them in all sorts of places, and don't even ask how many pairs it involves, I reckon they're breeding overnight. I have a pair of those tiny black & purple scissors too, love how fine a point they have. Huge hugs and lots of love, Shaz XXX
ReplyDeleteHow FUN to clean up, unearth a few things, and then start right back in crafting!
ReplyDeleteWell at yeast you were able to find some treasures in the excavation. Did they find a drawer or are they back in the rumble?!! Who cares! Happy crafting and mess-making, Julia! Glad you are doing so well!! Hugs, Darnell
