Gentle desker, there is controversial excitement... I have put up a page about WOYWW's 2017 Crop. You can find it as a permanent page and access it at the top of the blog. Or you can use this link.
Meanwhile, I'm back with the crazy birds...
Just by placing the basket of sponges and Cut N Dry foam on my desk, I've halved my working space. Ah well, tis just for one birdy. I took the picture late yesterday - look it's still light at gone 5pm. This makes me very happy. Still doesn't help the colour matching though, evening card making is too vexatious, so the desk still looks just like this in the gloom of early Wednesday! Nothing exceptional to report really, just happy to have something crafty on my desk at this point....month end and all that!
Show and tell how your desk shapes up as we March into a new month. (See what I did there?!). It's fun. It's free and it contains no calories!
excited about the crop but not sure I will be able to make this one; some travel prep work needs to be done.... busy desk ( I know all about end of month busy, though ours is busy in different ways) Glad you're still enjoying the crazy birds!
ReplyDeletethose Distress pads a e reminding me of my reserve, NOT to rush out and buy all the new pads. Where will I even put them? 1st world problems!

Good to see you doing some birdie stamping - I just love those crazy birds - and with a Distress background - sheer heaven! I so enjoyed the workshops I did using both Distress Inks and Crazy birds, somehow the cats and dogs don't do it quite the same for me.
ReplyDeleteGood to see it so light early evening. Now to open the curtains and see if there is snow like yesterday.
Hugs, Neet xx 2
Didn't have time to read it all as I'm on my way out the door....but.....crop....yippee!! I'll be back!
ReplyDeleteMm not sure about the no calories there Julia a cuppa always leads to a nibble as we browse around deskland!
ReplyDeleteImpressed your desk is tidy, and also profitable, mine can't be seen as it is inundated in other items so crafted today post on dining room table am sure something is not quite right there!
well its just 6pm here i had better go for my walk while i can then get tea and other things :D!
Glad to be here after being away from blogland for couple of weeks apart from yesterday's necessary post!
Thanks so much for sharing your desky inspiration!

Morning Julia. Well, you've bitten the bullet and announced to the world Llandudno is the place this year.... and I see you already have two folk looking up dates and details! Well done on the crazy bird effort. Those sponges really do take up space don't they - on my desk too - I end up with stuff in a semi-circle around me on the floor!!
ReplyDeleteTake care girl. God bless.

Hello there on the other site of the world(?) Have a great day. What a good idea you have with the stamp. I can use this also. groeten uit Nederland. alles-panellis
ReplyDeletehave to be: alles-vanellis
ReplyDeleteDaylight makes such a massive difference to the colour of stuff doesn't it. I've been knitting again in the evenings and when I look at it in the morning I'm always amazed at the colour and texture
ReplyDeleteHave a great week Julia
Lynn #11
Lovely bit of crafting going on there Julia.
ReplyDeleteIt is so much nicer having some daylight whilst getting ready for work of a morning (still dark by the time I come home but it is improving).
Have a great week.
Toni xx
Lovely work with the sponging of ink on the crazy bird, Julia. I have spotted a very pretty card over on the book rest thingy - I have that paper but had to buy a second set as it was just too nice to use up!

Congratulations on having something on your desk for the beginning of a new month. My desk will get a look in once I can enter the room again. I started building a wardrobe. Then stopped. Haven't used my room this year so far. Hope to finish wardrobe today!! Have a great week - EmbroidRage #3 x
ReplyDeleteAh No Calories, that does it for me! Trying to give up Meat, Chocolate and Crisps for Lent so hopefully I'll lose a bit of weight too. Hugs BJ#16
ReplyDeleteSeeing as I have been away from my crafting desk for a while, I have no idea what these crazy birds are all about - but I'll be sure to check (your projects are always great - so I'll probably find some fantastic inspiration). I LOVE that paper in the foreground - where is it from do you know?
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday! :)

Bright and colorful desk today with those sponges! I am sure there's much excitement about the crop, what fun! :^) patsy
ReplyDeleteI too am addicted to all things distress or crazy. Funnily enough I made a card with one of the Crazy Birds myself this week. Spooky! Happy WOYWW Sarah #24
ReplyDeleteGreat news about the Crop - details will have to be discussed cos of the chucks but we'll see!
ReplyDeleteLove those bird stamps - look forward to seeing the completed card.
Have a good week and take care

Back later as I have to go out now. Happy crafting everyone, Angela x 21
ReplyDeleteMarch into the new month! A good one, Julia, LOL! The days are definitely getting longer - it won't be long before I can sit outside at 9pm still painting - that's one of my fondest memories of last summer! Glad to see all this activity on your desk! Happy 404! zsuzsa #26
ReplyDeleteCrazy birds and distress inks, how fun! Love your March pun and the birds stamps scattered across your desk. I took a year off from blogging and am glad to be back here at WOYWW.
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, Wish the crop wasn't so far away:(
ReplyDeleteI love the Angry Birds.
Hope you have a lovely day. Sue #18
The lighter days really make a difference to how much I can get done in a day. Love the stamps you are using and I hope to make it to the crop. Tracy #27
ReplyDeleteOh yes, we March towards Spring... the bright pink of the sponges makes me feel it even more - smiles are in the air! Enjoy creating lovely one, and happy woyww to you! Hug from (sunny!) Holland! Marit #30
ReplyDeleteLots of fun pinkness on your desk, Julia. I love those round sponges - not seen them before. Have you thought about daylight bulbs? I have PureLight bulbs in my studio and they are brilliant, enabling me to work (and photograph) well into the night. OK, there is a slight blue cast to the photos but I adjust them back towards the yellow and all is well - photographing stuff under regular bulbs is a complete non-starter!! WOYWW is certainly a much more fun calorie-free way towards weight loss than emergency major surgery, which I would NOT recommend as a preferred dieting method - although I have lost 12 lb since going into hospital! Now, how do I keep it off?!!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW,

Happy WOYWW. There must be birds in the air this week. I doodled some crazy birds on an ATC yesterday. Have commented on the Crop post - very sadly have booked a holiday that week. One year I will attend!! Ali x #31
ReplyDeleteoops - posted on the crop - intend it here - see - just tooo overexcited!!!! omg - I am in the Uk for my Sons graduation in October... I will have to look at dates and see what can be achieved in terms of crop attendance, though it will be a grand tour taking in the north ( 'tis grim but has to be done) the Sarf ( south london) and perhaps wales, though if I sail into and out of plymouth it is doable, and roscoff is only 2 hours from me... oooh ive come over all excited...As regards the desk ( I feign equal excitement)
ReplyDeleteit is amusing that for one tiny bird we need to be surrounded by so much stuff eh? But it does make us so happy - simple souls and all that... dxxx#28
Hi Julia, like the Crazy Bird! They are just awesome. Like the crop idea, can't see any reason why we won't make it, in fact we'll probably make a weekend of it too.Love & hugs, Shaz XXX
ReplyDeleteI don't think there is ever enough space on our desks to work on when we have all our artsy materials and tools out. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteThe crop is a month too late for me! I have scheduled a trip home to visit Mum (and I'll be staying 6 lovely weeks) but leave Sept. Oh dear.
ReplyDeleteLovely desk - looks ready to go just waiting for that crafting. It is nice having the lighter evenings. They are beginning to stretch out!
Happy WOYWW

Your Oct crop sounds exciting. The area is on my bucket list, but no doubt only if my son would be on a transfer, maybe in 2 yrs. Then I could fly handicapped. Your inspirations of the "birds" has made me determined to get mine out and work with them. The mission for unused, stamping, seems to fit.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy a lovely week, sending sunshine.
Hi Julia! I see some pretty TH distress inks on your desk. A crop always sounds fun. Wish you were on this side of the pond. #38
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought that was a basket of strawberries on your desk! I have been enjoying imported Mexican strawberries this week, so I guess they are on my mind! Isn't it wonderful when we get our evening light back? Yahoo!!
ReplyDeleteWish I could come visit at the crop. I'm not a 'crop' person but I'd love to snoop and see what everyone else is working on. Desk looks busy. Yes, we are experiencing longer daylight hours here in the US and loving it. Do you have Peeper Frogs there? We have them here and their concert season is in full swing. Love to listen to them. Whipporwill shouldn't be far behind.
ReplyDeleteCreative Blessings! Kelly #42
Thank you for your visit, Julia, and you are right - slow recovery is much better than no recovery!! The oxides have the advantage over ordinary DIs in that you can layer them without them becoming muddy, and being opaque, you can use them on dark paper. I think they are perhaps more aimed at the mixed media artist, but we shall see - I am looking forward to experimenting with them! It's good that there's so much choice out there - there is something to suit everyone and all our requirements are different, aren't they.
ReplyDeleteShoshi #29
Sorry, not able to join in this week - will be missing in action tomorrow and Friday so thought best not to - but just had to pop in and see what you have on your desk. So glad I did. I almost whooped for joy when I read the info on this year's crop. You're not coming to Scotland but Wales is a very doable alternative so I'll be there - with the EM in tow :) Hugs, Elizabeth xx
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely a treat that there's light later in the day now!! Hope you found some FUN time at your workdesk today when the gloom of the morning wore off.
ReplyDeleteOoh I am so excited that its still light out when I get home from work now... and of course my husband will grin at me and say soon ( in a deep and terrible voice) they will switch us to daylightsavingstime and then we will have to get up in the dark... so, made me curious if you guys in the UK do the daylight savings time thing? ( I totally wish they would do away with it here) ~Stacy #44
ReplyDeleteDon't you just hate when you feel like your space is closing in around you! I love the lighter days, now if it would just warm up!
