Or, probably more accurately 'Some Things Never Change'!
A very blue picture in the early morning light - but the sun will haul itself higher and the day will roll forward, sure as eggs is eggs. And the never changing part of this - you've all seen or read about my skill in preparing for a Crop. Well, here we go again. It's on Saturday. But here I am on Wednesday just gently trying to remind myself what my 'ready box' of matched-to-paper-photos is looking like. It's four months and some brain surgery since I last looked. The one thing that struck me first was that oh boy, I don't actually match papers and photos - rather I 'pair' them. No wonder I find scrapbooking so hard!! Anyway, that's the desk - it's naturally all on top of whatever was already there, but you're used to that too!
Show and tell for us then will you, encourage and inspire, please!
I did some scrapbooking on Monday. don't fall off your chair. enjoy the crop - you know you will spend more time chatting than scrapping anyway so don't stress....! Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteWell you could try the blind method close your eyes and just grab paper lol I don't really scrapbook if I did they would be pretty matchy matchy I'm sure lol have a fab day hugs Nikki 2
ReplyDeleteStill gave my little giveaway going on for back one more week too
Just saying hi, it has been awhile and I always love to see what you are up to!
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, So glad to see that you are back to your usual witty self! Have a great crop!
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, I've not done scrapbooking for ages. I do find it hard to match paper, photos and embellishments.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing your finished LOs.
Hope you have a happy WOYWW. Sue
Nice looking desk again this week .. as to scrapbooking, perhaps that's where I'm going wrong too!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW

Wahoooooo a workshop. :-) I can see an improvement every week I call by and it thrills me to bits. Really hope all goes well at the workshop and you have a great week.
ReplyDeleteHugs,

Hi Julia, it all sounds very interesting but in truth I really don't know what a crop is but it sounds like you will be working in your scrapbook? I do art journaling but realise that is not quite the same but some of the scrapbooks I have seen are very arty too. I hope you have a lovely time. Happy crafting, Angela x 11
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time at the crop. Whether you 'scrap' or not, I'm sure you will have a super day. Enjoy the rest of your week.
ReplyDeleteToni xx
Your desk has that early morning look - mine had to be taken by flash late last night! Hope the workshop goes well - I am a hopeless planner so I admire your organisation skills. Have fun.x Jo
ReplyDeleteI have heard from Christine AKA Bishopsmate about crops and they sound like good fun . So glad you are up and at em again x Jackie 14
ReplyDeleteThe early morning sunshine outside your window has the promise of another fine Indian Summer day! I think we've been spoilt this year weather-wise, don't you? Happy cropping!
ReplyDeleteThe day looks like it's promising to be hot and sunny already!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your crop,
Hugs,

I'm always happy to see sunshine and outdoor green. Soon that will change, here our days are already getting shorter. Darkness comes earlier and stays later in the AM. I do enjoy seeing scrapbooking projects, I just never got into that, as I don't get current photos often enough to finish out a season of events. So happy to see you are in the thick of being busy and enjoying life again. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteSorry no deskfrom me as off to have another tooth rebuilt but popped by to see what you have been up to. Pairing eh...I tend to do the old smash and grab technique!!!
ReplyDeleteKyla
To be quite honest, I'd have no idea what to put in a crop box as I like to have everything available to scrap with! The most I could manage is an already laid out page which just needs sticking! So whatever you pack you'll be up on me. Enjoy. BJ #20
ReplyDeleteHalf the problem of a crop is knowing what to take .... I'm sure you will pick all the right pieces and .... if you only sit and talk .... you will have had a good time.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
Christine

Whatever takes my fancy is how I pair papers. What you have on your desk looks pretty already.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the crop.

Nothing better than the early morning light. No matter how prepared for a crop I am I never get that much done as we are always so busy chatting. Have fun at the crop!

Happy WOYWW. Matching papers with photographs. Is that what you are meant to do when scrapbooking? No wonder I have done so little - and all digital so far! The sun did come up - and is shining strongly in Pembrokeshire. Ali x #25
ReplyDeleteI like the poetic sound of your introduction to this post, as well as the blue hues from the morning sun in your photo. There is something special about mornings to me, since I see them as gifts to a world of possibilities. Blessings on your upcoming crop, my friend!
ReplyDeleteWell at least you do get your scrapbooking done!! ACtually I have just finished a squash book fro a friend's birthday - I may even post that tomorrow. Hope you are well my friend. xx
ReplyDeleteDon't collapse with shock to see me popping up again after such a long break. I have been watching how everyone is. Your space is so much tidied than mine. With all my trips away and workshops, time has just vanished this year. I cannot believe we are now heading for winter and the dreaded"C" panics. Hope your crop goes well and you have a great week. xxx Maggie
ReplyDeleteSo you are an early bird it seems ;)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your crop on Saturday!!! I admire everyone who is a good (or even mediocre) scrapbooker. It's something I simply can't do. I am only good at hoarding designer papers...lol
Have a nice workdesk wednesday!

Have fun at the crop. One of these days I will do some more scrapbooking, but I am really enjoying mixed media and have just started art journaling so that is very much on the back burner for the moment. #24
ReplyDeleteHi Julia,
ReplyDeleteSo good to see that you are back on deck! Hope things are going well!
I very rarely take exactly what I need - there is far too much to choose from :)
'Ello! 'Ere I is! Posting again (don't pass out)....
ReplyDeleteLoving the blue light. Much better than my sickly yellow....
Hello Julia. I love that part of the morning just before the sun is fully up but none the less living up in northern Canada this time of year the sun isn't shinning so long. I love the house paper on your desk so adorable. Have a fantastic week and a spectacular time at the crop. Hugs ~ Anne L#3
ReplyDeleteJulia I never thought of matching photos and patterned paper before scrapbooking them! That's brilliant. I learn so many new things every Wednesday. Hugs and love across the ocean. Sandy Leigh #33
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely spot to create in. I've never been to a crop! Have a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteI agree, scrapbooking is hard. I try to keep up and also do all those from the past. It is just plain hard! I would rather make cards. LOL
ReplyDeleteSorry, #36
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, love the early light. and since I don't tend to match things I think that is just fine? ( but, I tend to lean on the CAS side for scrapbooking )
ReplyDeleteI also don't have that scrap every picture thing going on either. I do mostly little theme books anymore because, that is what my family will pull off the shelf and actually thumb through.
~Stacy # 37
Hi Julia, I'm back and glad to be here again. So nice to catch up with you. Love your 'blue' desk. I do try to match photos to paper but it seems that I almost always do not have just the right paper - despite the mountain that is my stash. Enjoy the crop and have a great weekend. Hugs, Elizabeth x #38
ReplyDeleteI don't do nearly as much scrapbooking as I'd like. I'm hoping to get some done during the winter, when there are less gardening chores. Have fun at your crop!
ReplyDeleteSuzanne #39
Scrapbooking? don't explain it to me. My children inheritance is going to be a big box of photos and lots of paper scraps and I can look down and see how they match it up!!
ReplyDeleteSo grateful for your recovery and continued desking for us all!
Blessings,
Robyn 40
Ho my word its Wednesday... I can't believe I missed it again! I will try be a better participant next week. Life is moving at warp speed on this side of the planet, its a wonder we don't have a speed wobble...
ReplyDeleteI find scrap booking beyond boggling! So go you!! Have a ball at the crop!
ReplyDelete-K #44
It is almost 9:30 here in Okieland and I remembered I hadn't posted a WOYWW post today! WOW my memory is really bad now days. I have a lot of pictures I need to get organized and into books…I just seem to lack the enthusiasm now days. Wish I could be there for the Crop. Maybe some day! Have fun! Vickie #45
ReplyDeleteAt least you've started getting organised.. I'm cropping on Saturday and still haven't started! Sorry for the late visit. Elaine no. 21
ReplyDeleteWell, you certainly get some better weather than we do up north. love the 'blue' look of your desk in the morning light.
ReplyDeleteNow crops, well I don't know much about scrappin' but when I did my one book when my cat died and I wanted to put all of his photos together I just chose a paper I liked (it had daisies on it) and used that pad for the whole book. See, useless is me! Maybe do what I do and go with your gut instinct - you know you will spend most time chatting anyhow.
Hugs, Neet xx 7
I started working on a "good'ol" scrap-layout yesterday and I find it very, VERY hard to do - it's been too long... I hope you have fun at the crop 'cause that's the most important part! Have a great weekend! Marit #8
