What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 372

Well, WOYWW is back in it's original location having spent a lot of weeks being looked after by my friend and conspirator, Jan. Please hum a three cheers song for her today, it's been a monumnetal thing to take on, amongst all the other stuff she does for me.
To erm, celebrate the return of at least one blog post a week to this address, I thought it would be a good idea to show you what happens when you have no desire to craft. When your mojo goes on holiday and 'can't be bothered' moves in.  This is a drawing of the line. I'm so sick of the state of this room that I'm going in and I'm going to be brutal. I am.
The first thing to go will be the lawn mower! My desk is in front of a barn door that we use to access our back garden; yesterdays exertions to tame the grass resulted in the mower where it is en route to the garage for storage, the door for which is on the wall opposite and behind my dek. I must have been distracted.......
All the mess and detritus that is over exposed by bright sunshine will still be there this afternoon - I'll get to it, but first, I'm off to Salisbury with Jan to meet up with Darnell - excited!
Show and tell about your workspaces will you - inspiration and tidy methods are going to be trending!
One last thing - sorry to go on - we rather fancy a WOYWW Crop. October 8th. New location, details a bit later? Whaddya think?

  2. Oh, I hope I can go to the crop for once. Will have to work on that one.
Now don't be doing to much Missis, the lawn mower is ok but if it offends get Mr D to move it. You just get ready for Jan (what a friend you have there) and the pair of you go off and enjoy the meet up with |Darnell. Give her my love, I can't get to the meet in Knutsford boo hoo.
    Take care and welcome back.

  4. Good morning Julia. How lovely to have you back in the driving seat. Jan has indeed done a terrific job in your absence. Do go steady as you recover - is it a case of "baby steps"??? I'm wondering if you are secretly hoping to change the lawnmower in any way before moving it? A few images stamped on perhaps? Some distress inks around the edge?? But before all that - have a simply wonderful day with Jan and Darnell and anyone else who is coming along. Enjoy! Trust there my be cake on the menu! Please give her my love and best wishes.
Take care, dear girl. God bless.

  5. So good to have you back Julia, but I can't see an issue with the desk. If I were at home and being creative, my worktop would look just like that.
Enjoy tidying it and finding forgotten treasures in the pile.
Enjoy your day with Jan and Darnell

  9. Welcome back. Now that's got to be a first...a lawn mower! I've imagine all the crafty uses for it that I can and have come up with trimming of the toe nails while you work because of it's position under the desk! :-) I hope you have a fab time today....big hugs to you all.

  12. I was wondering what new crafting technique you had discovered that involved a lawn mower LOL
Lovely to have you back and it is most definitely a big cheer for Jan and her caretaking skills of recent weeks.
Have a wonderful day out the pair of you.

  13. Welcome back Jan! By all means move the lawn mower (I must admit it looks a bit out of place) but don't even think of using it! I hope you have learnt to take it easy.
How are you? Slowly recovering? Will you be able to craft? (I'm thinking fine movement etc..) I hope so.
Fab idea to do a meet/crop. I might pop in, depending where it is in the country, as we are in England then (flying back on the 9th). Looking forward to having more details.
    Great to have you back,
    Blessings,
    Lisca

  19. So good to see you back in the saddle, Julia! Lawnmower in the craft room! Well, that's a first! It will be difficult to beat for shock value, LOL! Don't worry about your mojo - it will return in good time!

  20. I'm not sure how you do it, Julia, but I can't seem to catch up. I wanted to join in this week to welcome you home, but life has truly gotten in the way--again.

Welcome back to the place you started so many years ago. Had to laugh when you pointed out the lawn mower. i wondered if it was a machine to help your equilibrium, and when you pointed out it was a lawn mower, I felt like a fool. Doesn't look like any lawn mower I've ever used!

Have a fun day with Darnell and LLJ.

  21. Welcome back Julia, I'm so happy you are feeling well enough to continue forward with this blog! I know it's a chore keeping all the little ducklings in a row and I do thank you! I'm not getting to play along this week, but just had to come through and wave hello!

  22. Welcome back! That is a mower? Our mowers in the US look nothing like that. :-) Have fun meeting Darnell.

  23. Happy WOYWW and how exciting to see you back. A lawnmower in your craft room! That must be a first on WOYWW? It would be even more unusual for me, as my craft room is upstairs. Our grass desperately needs cutting (it is knee high now) and hubby actually found a spare few minutes last night, but then found that the mower would not start (our herdsman knew this 3 days ago, but had 'forgotten' to tell us) - so I continue to have to put my camp chair on the narrow path next to the window. I keep threatening to buy a lightweight mower that I can use, so this week I may get to Homebase and see what bargains they have. The guinea pigs love it though, as there are lots of big dandelion leaves in the 'lawn'. Back to crafting - my desk is actually being used for what it is designed for - and having gesso on my hands again is very refreshing. Ali x #30

  24. Welcome back! So happy you feel up to hosting again! Mower in your scrapbook room now that the first time I've heard that. But it looks a lot smaller then out lawn mowers maybe it's not the same thing??

  26. Hi Julia, lovely to see you again! I know exactly what you mean about can't be bothered moving in. It does take a while to get back into feeling like doing anything, even crafts. But it will get easier, honestly. And my room has looked much like yours, just without the lawnmower, rofl. Enjoy today with Jan & Darnell- I'm going to meet Darnell on Sunday in Birmingham. And YES!!!!!! We will be up for the crop. Love the idea, wherever you hold it. Huge hugs to you, Love, Shaz #3 xxx

  29. Julia!!! You just showed the world that nothing stops a crafter! I am so glad to see this photo no matter what your crafty space looks like! Although I'm sure that lawn mower is not cutting it in your craft room...so to speak. Too funny. Oh so happy that you continue to recover and get things going and I hope you are feeling well. Have a fabulous time with Jan and Darnell today!! Hugs. Sandy Leigh #36

  32. Welcome back! So good to see you in your chair. Now, I have to say, a lawn mower in a crafting area is a new one. LOL What a way to take back the reins! As to the rest of it, one step at a time. Playing really is more important than cleaning. Unless of course you need to mow a path ;-) Creative Blessings! Kelly #38

  33. Welcome back Julia!! Sounds like you are recovering nicely!! I'm loving how your rooms looks.....it speaks creativity waiting to happen! I know all about the mojo thing...I think we all go through it from time to time. My experience is when that happens, the best thing to do is just pick a random project and just dive in. Don't think too much about it...just start and then eventually the flow comes back! The thing is, just start!! That's the hardest part! LOLOL I won't even talk about the lawnmower!!!!! LOLOL Best wishes on your trip and have fun! Blessings for new creativity! :)

  35. Welcome back Julia, you know I never would have guessed that was a lawn mower ( I thought it was some kind of vacuum actually) It is great to see you are posting again and feeling like cleaning some of my best things happen when I clean my space :) have a great time out with Jan, ~Stacy # 44

  41. Hi Julia...I've been a lurker thru Carol N for some time now.
Thanks for sharing your work desk and inspiration. I'm very happy you are feeling better.

  42. I am quite confident that you are the only one on WOYWW who has a lawn mower in their craft room! You take the cake! And you can eat it too.

You sound very motivated. Good luck with the purge. It is very freeing! My org tip is to pretend that some extra destructive cats are going to get on your desk in the night while you sleep. These cats love to chew and eat plastic and ribbon which could result in expensive trips to the vet, they love to leave tooth marks in any papers, cardstock, cardboard and rubber stamps, and they love to knock papers onto the floor to crinkle them. That's is what motivates me to pick up my desk and area all the time and I even have a roll top desk that I could close (I so rarely think of it, but you do have to have the room to roll it down, so you still pretty much have to pick up the desk). Good luck!
