What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesay 353

Well, to be honest there isn't much on my desk that's worthy of discussion, so this morning I offer you a twofer; you'll understand immediately.
Yep, work stuff. Yawn. It cant be escaped, so whilst everything is tidy, the surfaces became office-y.
You can't tell at all from this, but its raining really hard and is set to be a horrid day. Urgh.

I don't remember if this is a rare sight or not,  but here's a swing to the left, you can just tell; the left end of the desk butts against the worktop. My desk is on locking wheels, so that in theory, it comes away easily. You see here the things that are needed to hand - obviously my dies and embossing folder and Big Shot. The basket is home to all my DI sponges...yes, I have to rummage, but the storage suits me. Not least because it catches lobbed sponges way better than my last solution! (Ignore the hole punch..it's something to do with filing..) You can see my scraps box too. I use the white pieces up quite regularly, but the colours don't turn over well enough! I'm a 21st century gal now - using windows 10! I cant for the life of me make it not centred...the button at the page top is useless. Any ideas? Anyone?
So this is how it is this mucky morning, I've shown you mine..please show me yours! Put WOYWW in your post title and link here. As easy as that!

  1. Morning Julia. Well, what a fancy coloured big shot - fantastic - just so cheery - sitting there this dull, rainy, windy, wild morning. Horrendous out there, isn't it?! Windows 10 huh? John is trying it out on our laptop at the mo - but he isn't yet convinced...watch this space. He may yet revert to windows 7!!
Have a great, if wet and wild, day.
    Take care. God bless.
Margaret #1 How on earth did I manage that?!

  2. Do you award yourself brownie points if the sponge hits the basket first time?😉 That would be very satisfying indeed! Hope the paperwork is proceeding without incident!

  3. I love the L-shape desk, I used to have one myself. I now have a rectangular desk with shelves at the side but sometimes miss that extra table length to put everything down and still have some workspace left, nowadays my desk is easily crowded. But probably if my desk was bigger I still would have the same issue.

  4. Good morning!
windows 10? I'm having a new computer delivered this morning but I'm not having Wind 10 as I'm not sure about it. Mixed opinions. Even my computer guy did not recommend it.
Going to the gym now. Will do some deskhopping later.
Have a good week (in spite of the admin)

  5. Your space to the left is a rare site I don't remember a picture shown in the last while. About making something a picture not centered you have to go into the HTML code and delete this part of the code imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" it will allow you to move the images easily
Hope that helps hugs Nikki 3

  6. Total thumbs down on Windows ten Julia..

As it installed itself without permission and made huge mess of my perfectly good Windows 7.
Took two days of work in registry to clean it all up and uninstall it all. :(

Love the second view of your room not familiar to me but great one!!
..... well will desk hop late tis nearly 7 pm here!!

So this gal has to go for her walk or else turn into a mushroom or such!
    Thanks so much for sharing.

  7. It is incredibly grim out there this morning isn't it! I see your desk doubles as an office space too, mine often just becomes a dumping ground but then I realise quite often that the things dumped on there are actually craft related LOL

  8. Good morning Julia! Pretty miserable here too-NOTlooking forward to the drive to work today! Speaking of which - Gotta dash!

  9. Isn't it horrible when work interferes with your crafting? Nice to see another angle of your work space this morning. No rain here (for a change) but no doubt it will come later.

  10. That's ironic as I have just blogged about desks being hidden under paperwork that is not crafting!! Not sure re Win10 as not upgraded yet (waiting for the snag list to be updated from MS before I upgrade). If I find out I will let you know

  11. Hi Julia, no idea about windows 10, I let "Him Indoors" deal with that side of things, give me paper and card anytime that's much preferred. Have a great woyww and happy crafting, Angela x

  12. Hi Julia!

I am back from the dead. I love your twofer but I don't have a clue about Windows 10 - I am still on Windows 7!
    Lots of hugs,

  13. Thank goodness I don't have to battle with all those Window changes and the grief that seems to accompany them. I did not like my Mac at first but, even though I cannot use it as freely as I used to use Windows, I am glad I do not get grief with it.
Loved seeing the shot of your desk down the side (2nd photo) and I see you have one of those pretty Big Shots. Must be nice to have so much room but bet you fill it and still work in a tiny square.

  15. Good Morning Julia, Love your desk shot - even if it is worky themed for now, your big shot is adorable. I use a mac so I'm rubbish now on windows, my computer at work is windows and I just google how to do everything now... I've become so lazy and hopeless since making the cross over! xx

  16. Thanks for hosting this party today. I can't help you with windows 10, I don't have it yet.

  17. The Windows 10 discussion is still going on in our house - should we or shouldn't we - not feeling very positive about it so far! Your storage is looking very organised, and I like the jazzy BigShot - never seen one like that before!

  19. Hi Julia
I cringed at the mention of Windows 10 as I know sometime soon I'm going to have to upgrade. It's a necessary evil to me.
I'm one lucky bird in that our official office is in a different room to my stuff. Saying that the overspill of crafting is housed in the office.
Hope you get everything done you need to

Love the big shot - mine is a boring black one!!
I have recently gone to windows 10 - getting to grips with it. Off to swim soon - don't really need a pool it's so wet out there!!! Anne x #32

  21. Thank you for your visit this morning on this horrid soggy day. I wish I could stay in and keep dry but I have two important cards to get into the post. I was interested in the box for the sponges. The only sponges I use are the little triangular make up sponges which I tend not to keep. Apart from those, I only use the gorgeous Clarity brushes and, occasionally, the Ranger blending tool. I do have a bag of natural sponges, mainly for water colouring, but that is all. Hope you get all the office work out of the way and get back to the important stuff. xxx Maggie #25

  22. With a computer expert 'in da house' I only have to shout to the other room if there is a problem with my computer... oh luxury! However, we don't have Windows 10 so I cannot help you with this: good luck solving it! I hop[e the 'office stuff' will be done soon so you can get back to your fun tools and materials! I also hope the day will get sunny later (I hope that for the Netherlands too, as we have grey, windy weather) Have a good week Julia! Hugs from Holland, Marit #4

  23. I haven't quite brought myself to install Windows 10 yet! Don't know if I'm going there yet! I love your pretty Big Shot; it really makes mine look kinda blah...it's only black and pink! I know it's raining but I hope your temps are warming! Have a great rest of the day...Glenda #36

  24. Alas, it is only horrendous out there if you do not like the rain ... which I do, so today is quite perfect for me! Am concerned about all the flooding of course and have heard of dreadful journeys for people this morning so hope everyone keeps safe and sound.
Scraps of paper & card drive me mad ... can never quite decide when a piece remains a scrap or is heading for the recycling bin ... I'd need a shed to store every scrap of card that comes across my desk.
Oh and it is WONDERFUL to see your side view! And, YES, it is, indeed, a rare event as I have never seen it before! Love to you, as always, Debbie xXx

  25. I try to save my scrap paper too and all I have is a huge pile of scrap paper. My friend had a use up scrap paper and made a huge dent in her pile. I think that's what I need to do! Have a great day!!!

  28. Windows 10!!! Well I went for it early on and then reverted to 7. I could not access my disc drive at all, apparently those geniuses at Microsoft forgot!! to include any sort of media player in the software. I gather they have remedied that since, but now I need time and energy to try again. Hope you sort out your problems with get pictures where you want them.

  31. I would emboss some of those work papers just for fun, Julia! You could put some glittery butterflies on them too! Though it may not go down well with the tax people. They might think you're trying to divert their attention from the numbers! Hope you can get the boring paperwork done quickly and reclaim your craft area!

  32. Good morning Julia. I just joined your wwoyd this is my first time posting and commenting. I so love the big window in front of your desk and the swing to the left is great and I love having everything close when I work too. With computers I can never figure things out but lucky my sister Nikki helps me out from time to time explain things. Have a great day and hope the weather clears up my local forecast is calling for more snow here. Keeping fingers crossed for both of us to have a sunny days ahead.

  34. Hi Julia, yes, I was a touch gob smacked, to say the least I was expecting an answer like 3 or maybe 4. Not a total of 12!
Is it the centering of the photo in your post you mean? I'm puzzled. Message us on FB and Beloved Hubby will sort out whatever your problem is, he's head of IT here, lol. Personally, I love 10- best OS they have ever made.
Lovely seeing whats going on at the side of your desk.
    Huge hugs, Shaz xxx

  35. Your're a better woman than I am keeping those sponges in a basket. I couldn't be bothered rummaging and messed mine all up. 10/10 for clearing the space to work though!
Great shot to the left too.

  36. Such miserable weather today compared to the fab day we had on Monday, crisp but sunny. Took Ben up into the Shropshire hills for the afternoon. Thanks for the alternative desk shot today. Maybe if you let us have a photo of the right hand wall and the wall behind the desk we could all create a 'cut-out-and-keep' Julia's Workdesk. Like Blue Peter's Tracy Island but without the yoghurt pots and Val's old knickers! Happy crafting, Max #51

  37. Your view out of the window looks like mine - gray and rainy. I shouldn't complain as it is a lot warmer, just wish the sun was shining like it was yesterday but that's asking a little too much.

Nice views of the desk - looks like lots going on. I have to do some more organising. Who knew things could get so messy so quickly?

    Have a great week

  38. I used to have a combined office and studio, Julia, and neither worked properly, causing endless frustration. When we moved here I immediately earmarked the room that had a separate section "dressing room" in agents' particulars - which is my office, and the rest of the room is my studio. It's even north facing!! I feel incredibly fortunate to have such a lovely space and never take it for granted. Both spaces are a total tip at the moment.

I use Windows 10 and love it. No problems at all except getting sound to work on my small laptop but that's resolved now.

Do love getting a sneaky peek at the other parts and pieces behind the mastermind ;) I actually have something going on, on my desk today, I was rather proud lol!

  42. Julia, we have twin Big Shots! I love seeing the business to the left there--and isn't it funny that no matter how much storage we have, it isn't enough. I'm still struggling with things that need to either be put away, thrown away, or given away!I really need to use my paper scraps too, and I can't seem to throw any of those away. Maybe I should just do some die cutting! Hugs and have a great week. Sandy Leigh

  43. Late this week....snowed under with paperwork type stuff! Got here in the end though!
We've had some of the wet stuff too....enough to flood a lot of the village and villages around us!

  44. FUN and handy LEFT side. You are brave, I've not yet accepted W-10. My last update made my printer not compatible and I've no extra cash to update all my extra's at the moment. Haven't researched what benefits it gives over 8.1. Good Luck. I am blessed my DH does all our office work and has his own BIG desk, and I have no problem staying away from it. Sending sunshine...I can only deal with gloom so long but sure enjoying warm temps and sun this week.

  45. Yes, that look to the left is a rare one. Didn't something much taller used to be there? Perhaps just a big pile.... Thanks for sharing a different view this time. Don't get too caught up in work. All work and no play is no fun! PJ #60

  46. Happy WOYWW and glad it is not just me who has a non-crafty desk at the moment. Windows 10 - I am one of the rare ones who has had no issues with it. One of the first to accept the upgrade, so I do get regular upgrades happening, but it truly has made no difference to how I use my pc and laptop. Ali x #59

  47. Good morning, Miss Julia. Coming a bit late to the party. I've caught hubby's head cold and slept in. We have the rain here, too. Supposedly hanging around for the next 4-5 days. Yay! And me having to travel this weekend. At least you can work on your space. Mine is more of a dumping table this morning. Creative Blessings! Kelly #61ish

  48. nope the accounting software I use is not compatible with 10 so, I am holding out until I run out of enhanced payroll to switch to 10. ( downgraded all the new computers last year to 7) and so, ( I dunno the answer to that) but, YES it is a rare view. and I like that everything is in reach. I have been picturing you having to lug everything from a closet somewhere to your desk to play. :) ~Stacy #62

  49. Julia, I am fairly new to WOYWW, but the times I have visited I have just admired your workspace photos. There is something so peaceful and "homey" to your space which has to make for wonderful arty projects! The swing you mentioned outside fits right into the whole peaceful space! I love your area and the ability to look outside and enjoy nature! Mine art space is in a closet! LOLOL Thanks so much for sharing your home and workspace! :)

  50. my new pc came with windows 10 and it seems fine to me, have got a "windows 10 for dummies" book to refer to... however, blogging seems fine (I ignore their recommended browser and installed chrome which I love; don't know if that makes a differene) your desk looks lonely with no crafting work going on., hope you get some time soon.

  53. Hi Julia. Sorry for the graphic post on my last blog page, it has been revised. I was not in a good place that day. Things are much better now, and spring is springing - even better! Our rain is going to show up tonight, and continue for the next week. Better rain than snow! I have windows 10 too, wish I had never switched, nothing works the same. Especially my Microsoft package. And it freezes up a lot. Hopefully you will have better results! Lindart #67
