What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 345

Hello Deskers. It's dark here. And, at last almost seasonally cold. It feels much colder, because we've had such a mild winter thus far. I'm truly grateful that Mr Dunnit goes to work at least an hour and a half before me; it means the workshop is warm when I get there! So at my desk today - a true return to normality - you catch me preparing the kits and supplies for my first workshop of the year. Looking forward to it!
You can see my Copics (under used) and to the left, my box of baby wipes. That's actually my 'mobile' box for some reason. Twiglet and Wipso made me a fantastic WOYWW holder for my baby wipes and I use that at home all the time I thought. Must investigate....! My desk tidy shows a clutter of scissors (maybe the collective noun is actually a 'clutter', you never know). Next to the Copics is a pile of cards and envelopes for workshopeers. You can also see three rolls of Washi tape that were a gift from Laura. I have no idea why they are still there. Well, I do, but I can't keep admitting to laziness! I bought some new biros - 5 different colours in a pack, so I'm enjoying writing my notes even more now, a different colour for each card - its almost disappointing when the regular Blue pen tips up in the order! You can see from my tablet that I'm listening to 'Shantaram' - it's an incredible story. I recommend it. So that's it then. Show us something interesting on your desk will you, please? You must put WOYWW in your post title, then link here. Lovely.

  2. Hope it doesn't matter that I have no desk to show - I am tucked up in bed bleary eyed and after downloading photos from the camera had no time left. Just a hasty post and a begging comment.

  3. I had no idea what a biro is, but I'm glad they make you happy. I agree with Helen. It's so cold here, I can't even get my fingers to work or write. Had a laugh at a clutter. Is that like a pride of lions, etc?

  5. Morning Julia I'm up early as Mr H now padlocks the gate at night now after the burglary and the overall man comes today so I've got to let him in. I'm diving back in bed for a bit now though, it's freezing out there.
Good luck with the workshop, I've got my first one this week.

  8. Hi Julia,
I'm sorry but I made a mistake with my first link! I have no idea what Shantaram is so now I'll have to google it. Envying those beauuuutiful pens even if I probably won't use it as much either! But I do have a planner where I use all the stuff I don't know what to do with! Happy WOYWW! patsy

  11. Copics seem to be the must have coloured pens but it seems you are just as happy with your new biros. I have to admit to an obsession with fountain pens and watercolour paints. I would like to think that I won't buy any this year but, I know it would be a little lie :(

  13. Hi Julia, I'm early today as the time is different here so although I'm up at my usual time it's actually one hour earlier hence I am 17 rather than my usual 25-30. Pleased to hear it's cooling down where you are it's been a very strange winter in the UK. We have loads of snow here which I am pleased about but you will understand why when you visit. Happy crafty woyww, Angela xXx 17

  14. So chilly today - the forecast is for a very cold spell. Something I'm not looking forward to as it doesn't take much to disrupt the train services.
Looks like your craft preparations are in full swing. Have fun.

  21. Oh that´s so nice to have a warm workplace in the morning.....I´m the stupid one that gets up early (we are both retired) and walk the dog (brrrrr). But I also love the quietness in the house.....
Hope you have a nice workshop day!

  22. I see I'm not the only one to have read this and rushed to the shopping list to add Baby Wipes - what would we do without 'em? I don't think I could be disciplined to use my ballpoint pens in rotation, I'd always go for favourites first

  23. I am not sure if I could listen to a book as I crafted - I think I'd get lost in the book (as I always do) and then make mistakes - but that's par for the course anyways lol. Your desk 'feels' quite calm today - maybe it's because of the audio book? I live so far south that we don't get too many really bitter-cold mornings - the lowest temperature we've had is about 9 degrees so far. Shame... I so love a frosty morning :)

  24. I used to hate the dark nights and mornings, always seemed we didn't see daylight during the week.
I keep meaning to treat myself to an ipad stand, they look great

  26. Admittedly, I had to Google biros to find out what you bought! While I was there I looked up that book, sounds great but I simply can't add another book to my already impossible reading list! BTW, your desk is so full of wonderful stuff! Wish I could sit there and simply play for several hours. Diane #33

  29. Well it looks productive to me, little tip with your Copics store them horizontal so ink is equal between to nibs. You may do so already but I always see them vertical in your desk. Hope you are enjoying using them. Take care Zo xx

  30. A very interesting desk Julia. I wish I was so organised. I've not tried Copics. I'm still using Pro Markers and have so many that I think it will be a long time before they run out. Have a good week. Barbxx

  32. Seriously it was so much quieter, and smaller, than in the past. For those who have gone to the show for years the difference is so noticeable.

  33. Morning!
I bought some coloured biros (ballpoint pens to the PC folk) for an ATC swap and I love them too, such a change from black!!!
Mr Dunnit's a treasure going into work first and warming the place up - 'ladies need to be kept warm to function in any way' is something I kept telling my DH until the CH was installed!!!!

    Have a good week

  34. Hello, Julia. I've been AWOL for quite some time. Feels good to be back. :) Your desk is very tidy, unlike mine. We finally have snow here and colder temps. It is -8C this morning -- actually not bad for our climate, but we had an extended fall here and loved it. Thanks for continuing to host this fun Wednesday event. Happy New Year!

  37. Hello!

It is SO cold here in this part of WI - I have to really push myself to go ou to purchase a Power Ball ticket today! :<) Thanks for the tip on the book - I did look it up and see that it is considered a great read but ends with an opening to a sequel. I am not good with waiting for the next installment of a great story but will debate this one. :<)

Wishing you a happy day! Keep warm!

    Hugs,

  39. Look at you with all that room on your desk! How fun to have different colored pens to write with. I have a friend who loves to switch colors between paragraphs and loves the glittery pens so you get very colorful and glitzy notes from her. It came really made someone's day!

  47. Art confession---

I only ever use a two of my copic pens.

However, the daughter does use them occasionally, and does so quite skillfully. Because she took the time to learn how . . . ***sigh***

    Confession over.

    Thank you for the WOYWW!

  48. Have a great time at your first class of the year : D. Clutter of Scissors works for me. Mine are a bit hermitish as they rarely hang out together.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Hi Julia, it's freezing here too. We have the heating belting out and still my feet are cold. Your scissors are all in neatly in one place ... much as I try to be tidy mine are spread all over the place! I've heard a collection of scissors referred to as a clip or snip of scissors - I favour snip :) Hope your week gets warmer :) Elizabeth x #51

  50. Something addictive about having lots of scissors - especially when they're nice and colourful! Dark and cold everywhere these mornings. Hope your first workshop of the year goes well.

  53. Looking very organised this week and I hope your workshop goes well. I've been wondering about Copics for a while, everyone seems to have them but I've had expensive pens dry out on me quite quickly so I'm wary. Hope you have a good week,

  54. Nice busy workdesk, Julia, with all those pens. I agree with everyone how cold it has become, and here we are living in practically tropical Torquay lol! Thank you for your lovely encouraging comment. Too busy at the moment to finish the tidying - in between all our busyness all I can do is collapse and rest! I'll get there in the end, though.

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  55. Gosh you have got alot of scissors haven't you!! I don't use my Copics as much as I should. Indeed the last two days I have been colouring all those stampings that I have been hoarding but with my watercolour pencils.
I was going to join in this week but circumstances prevented that! My desk would be of special interest to you!! I will join next week. If you will allow!!
    Hugs
