Meanwhile, here's mine - taken in very wet and dull light after work on Tuesday evening. Still the same this morning because in the end, I couldn't face it - a sure sign that I'm not really convinced by my idea! All you Deskers that have experienced discomfort over my ultra early Christmas card makes can breathe easy...not even a flake of glitter today!
I've made a been a small change in the arrangement of permanent fixtures which gives my working space an extra ten inches or so, but am not sure yet - we'll see. The basket that has moved from right edge to right back may well just become stacked up against the glass and that's not a good thing. Still, if I'm aware, it shouldn't happen, right?
So you can see, I'm playing with sea shells from the box of Naturals that Baker Ross sent. Well, I will be. You can also see a sheet of scrapbook paper suitable for Hallowe'en. This is a lucky piece. I ordered a grab bag and this was in it. I pulled it out as the only sheet in 20 that I wouldn't use. And then I remembered some fool making a plan for the WOYWW Crop to include a Tag trade on such a theme. By the way, if you're planning on joining us at the Crop, please let me know...that Lunch Lady needs to think about how many eyes of newt etc, for lunch. Now I need to think on these seashells, getting withdrawals from Christmas! Consider linking here and sharing your desk today, we'd love to visit.
I really need my eyes testing, I thought that was holly leaves all over that piece of paper... Love the shells though, and look forward to a 3 dimensional project with them "soon"! and of course you won't cram that basket full of stuff against your window.. even if you won't be opening it for a few months.. no, course not! Happy WOYWW
ReplyDeleteSea shells? Oh happy memories of plastering a jar with polyfiller and sticking them all over :-) Have fun.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Annie x
Very refreshing to see sea shells ( a reminder of Summer ...sigh) at this time of year. Have fun playing xx Soojay
ReplyDeleteI didn't recognise it immediately as Halloween (thought it was Xmas holly) but now I see the bat motive. Lucky you to pull that out of the bag.
ReplyDeleteIn a way I'm glad they don't celebrate Halloween here as I don't like it one bit. I know it's just a bit of fun, but nevertheless.....
Have a good week,
Lisca#9
You've been peeking at my recipe book again! Now, where did I put that Wool of Bat and Tongue of Dog...?
ReplyDeleteHave a tagalicious day!
Hugs, LLJ 10 xx
Good morning Julia, when I saw the shells on your desk I came over all wistful for sunny days and holidays. Now we are stuck with dark mornings, which I hate and thinking of Christmas. Think I'll pull the covers back over my head for a bit longer.
ReplyDeleteLynn. //12 X
Look forward to seeing what you do with the shells.
ReplyDeleteBusy, busy desk Julia - hope the new layout works for you.
Toni xx
Shells, buttons, ribbons - don't we just love collections of things! Pop over to my blog for a scary pre- halloween snap! x Jo
ReplyDeleteOOOhhh I love sea shells...I wonder what they will be made into. I tried making Christmas cards early this you too...it didn't last LOL...I am making Christmas decorations though and have a World of glitter everywhere!!!
ReplyDeleteYes! I can see holy leaves too, maybe it's the colours. It's madness at this time of the year what with starting Christmas cards, having to stop for Halloween cards and still got birthdays on the go and that's without challenge stuff. Don't you just love it and I'm on my way to a Powertex workshop today. Happy woyww, Angela x 19
ReplyDeleteWHAT!!! No glitter???? I was pleasantly surprised to see sea shells scattered across your desk. Interested in seeing what you make with them. Looked twice at the paper then saw the bat pattern rather than the holly I saw at first glance. Hope the new desk arrangement works out.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely desk! wish mine was like that! Will be by tomorrow I can assure you!!
ReplyDeleteHave a good week.

oooooh I really wish I wasn't so far away, would love to join you for the WOYWW crop and meet everyone in person. Can't wait for the next instalment to see what you do with those shells - I still have some I collected when I was little, they live in the garden now. Also have a collection of snail shells, not sure why really ... have a great week :o) Annie C #23
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely bunch of sea shells! Makes me want to push my toes into sand somewhere! My desk has gone over to Christmas and will likely stay that way from here on out. Love the extra space you have there!
ReplyDeleteGlenda #26
As soon as I saw your desk, I melted, I love shells :) Makes me want to go for a walk at the beach :)
ReplyDeleteGood morning from a newbie. Love this linked blog idea and am looking forward to seeing what everyone is doing. I too like to challenge myself from time to time using stuff I wouldn't usually touch with a bargepole because quite often you get new ideas that way. Jackie
ReplyDeleteI love the shells you are working with, and how lucky to get a Halloween sheet in your grab bag. Happy WOYWW!
ReplyDeleteWe've just brought a handful of shells home from our holidays for Ben to put in his discovery box. Look forward to seeing what you fo with them! Happy crafting :-)
ReplyDeleteLovely collection of shells! Will be interested to see what you do with them :)
ReplyDeleteHave a good week,
RosA # 32
That is a really beautiful collection of shells. I starting to miss the beach. #33
ReplyDelete10 inches extra work space is a quite a lot! My new routine is not to keep anything on my work surface (dining table) permanently. This results in a lot of work space being available for each new project to start with. Of course, it gets cluttered almost immediately I start working on something and I find myself fetching the same things over and over again, so I'm beginning to wonder whether it's worth clearing my desk at all! Would love to see what you'll make with those shells! I've got loads of them for Cornwall, but I'm never quite sure what to do with them. Hmm, perhaps a canvas with holiday photos and a cluster of shells? Happy WOYWW, Julia! zsuzsa @ InklyDinklyDoodle #29
ReplyDeleteI recently did a board on Seashells on Pinterest.. not sure what direction you are looking for but: https://www.pinterest.com/sylviah/ and just some beautiful ones by searching "seashells".
ReplyDeleteLiking the color of you board. Have a great WOYWW and enjoy a fun week.
I'm not much into, and resist making anything themed, Halloween but I could be converted because I like that patterned paper, Julia. Nice colours - no purple! Ten extra inches of workspace is quite a gain, even if it is temporary :) Look forward to seeing what you do with those seashells. Wishing you a very good week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #35
ReplyDeleteThe wanderer returns!! I love your shells - what will you make with them I wonder! I am still not sure about the crop - I would love to come of course, but still trying to get son number 2 to make up his mind about when he wants to come and stay. I know it's getting close now so we need to book somewhere - I'll try to get a decision out of him this week!! Hugs, Chris 38
ReplyDeleteThose shells look lovely, looking forward to seeing what you do with them
ReplyDeleteJill
I would take an extra ten inches of crafty desk space on the desk. I seem to horseshoe myself in until I barely have a spot!! Those shells remind me of a delightful weekend, not long ago, with my nephew, ten years old. We made shell people...too fun. Our shell crafting was inspired by the YouTube videos of Marcel the Shell with Shoes On. Thanks for your visit last week...I would take a delightful visit from you no matter how late or early! Hugs! Sandy Leigh
ReplyDeleteI do love seashells but I'm afraid summer is officially closed now until next year! Apart from finisheing off some embroidery I am totally in the Halloween/Autumn/Christmas mindset - I love the bat paper, once I realised it wasn't holly leaves! Have fun with your seashells!
ReplyDeleteDiana #25
Putting things to the back is never a good idea. Good luck working with the extra space. pretty shells. Creative Blessings! Kelly #41
ReplyDeleteYour "withdrawal from Christmas" comment made me smile. I was intent on making a mix of projects for this week's class, but once I'd made the first Christmas card I couldn't seem to stop myself!
ReplyDeleteLove the seashells, Julia. I wonder what you will do with them? I have quite a collection of them and most of them are in my bathroom - I love them all!
ReplyDeleteShoshi #44
Those shells look fascinating! I can't wait to see what you will come up with. And any solution for even a few extra inches is a step in the right direction! LOL!
ReplyDeleteHello!
ReplyDeleteI can't even think of Christmas yet - just finished my Halloween House for 2015 in time to share today! I want to create some smaller Halloween projects and work on a new doll so best get busy!
Wishing you a happy day today!
Hugs,
Barbara Diane
Happy Wednesday Julia! Moving permanent fixtures can be daunting. It's hard to retrain yourself when you're so used to it being in a certain location. I hope it works for you. If not, you can always move it back!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your lovely comment on my blog. This break in has been horrid. It's consuming most all of my thoughts... hence the escape into art making.
In answer to your query regarding paint and water cups...It is absolutely deliberate that the water cups and drinking cups are separate. I have drunk from the paint water far too many times! :)
It took me aback to see seashells on your desk at this time of year. I am in Autumn mode now. It's been a while since I joined in with all the other deskers. I am looking forward to seeing what everyone is up to.
ReplyDeleteI had baskets of little shells for years, and just didn't know what to do with them, other than putting a display in a large glass bowl with sand and a candle! I will be interested to see what you do! #50
ReplyDeleteLove those seashells, I immediately hear waves crashing and sand and surf between my toes
ReplyDeleteBridget #11
Pretty pretty shells! I'm a shell squirrel, and have several boxes stashed away . . .
ReplyDelete(So happy to have a Wednesday to join in again!)
:)trisha
with a diy desk redo,
but not the workdesk!
Surprisingly dreary weather for seeing seashells... seems like it should be bright and sunny to go with them. And I'm not concerned about your early Christmas card making. It you want to do it; then go for it! But I'm telling you, they are cancelling Christmas this year! LOL! Judy #48
ReplyDeleteHi! First time in WOYDWW!
ReplyDeleteI'm posting my work desk from Bs. As., Argentina. The chaos!
I had lots of inspiration with your pictures.
Thank you all!
Wake me up when halloween is over! I refuse to do anything about Christmas- including b***h and moan till after thanksgiving(US). Call me old fashioned!
ReplyDeleteThose seashells look beautiful! I'm curious to see what you do with them.
ReplyDeleteGreetings, Sofie

How I wish I could join you for the crop but I have done so much already this month and have a weekend with Finnabair coming up so am not sure I can face much more - maybe in Spring.
ReplyDeleteLove the array of shells you got, have had a shell project in mind but as I wanted it done for weekend I can see it won't materialise - again!!
Ah well - another time maybe.
Hugs, Neet 5 xx
Thank you for your lovely comment, Julia, and I'm glad you like my drawings! My friend Lucy did a great job printing them, and foiling some of them too - they look amazing! Thank you for your kind words and your timely reminder - not that I am really setting a date for when I shall be feeling better, but I am trying to take things a day at a time, continuing to go with the flow and trying to take my own advice lol!! It does us good to be reminded, though. Everybody on here has been so wonderfully supportive and encouraging, and I know it has helped me get this far through my long journey since January. I am amazed at how quickly the time has passed.

Happy belated Wednesday. Spending my Thursday being nosy! <3
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you're doing with the shells. I LOVE sea shells. And, it looks like your weather looked a lot like ours here. It was wet for three days, today finally looks better!
Michelle #56
Hmm, I wonder if you are making a little decorative sign (I see something painted a lovely shade of mint/teal) with your seashells. Chuckling that you thought you could get rid of the bat paper, only to realize there was a tag challenge. Happy WOYWW! ~ Laura #53
ReplyDeleteHi Julia,
ReplyDeleteWe all need to get every single inch we can out of our workdesk! Unfortunately I just don't have one right at the moment.
I'm planning to join in on the fun next week!!! I've missed you all so much. This blogging thing really does bring joy and friendship.
Hugs,
Kay
PS. The WOYWW gathering is on my bucket list!
should have mentioned in my first comment, that I have started my C cards (just for you, lol)
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, pretty shells and I will wait with anticipation to see what you are going to do. Being a lazy soul I would just put them in a pretty vase/jar and be done with it!! Have alovely week.

YAY, shells instead of glitters - I LOVE THAT!!! hope the sun is peeking through the clouds today Julia, happy woyww and a hug from Holland, Marit #14
ReplyDeleteI love sea shells and there used to be a lot in the beaches we went to. Alas, not any more. Now I look for sea glass whenever I'm in the beach.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW, Julia!
