What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 318

Well, it's kind of you to ask. If you see the chunk of time that I've lost between last Thursday when we got back from our holiday and today, please trap it, cage it and save it. I need it back! So...I've made a card this week..one of those that you do as you're doing other things..you know, glue this down, go and cook supper, come back, make a flower, go to bed. That kind of activity. But yes, it is still way better than nothing. My desk last evening:
You wanna know why I haven't adjusted the over exposure and made it all visible? Because I like the sunshine making it all glarey. Just because sunshine makes me happy! See that little baggie with the floral shape in it? That's a winder for some hand spun silk thread from Sally at Oh Snap! Can you believe the patience of (other) people - hand spun 3 ply thread! Thank you Sally, I will be using it; I have a really soft crochet lap blanket that will need a bit of sewing...perfect!
So come on then deskers of the world..lemme see what you're up to. Give me the inspiration to get out of my armchair and try something crafty after supper! Link your WOYWW post here and we can trot round for a visit.

  1. Welcome home and at least you've got something to show on your desk today, love the makings of the card. I will savour the sunshine on your desk as I think it'll be a bit lacking today.

  2. You are up early today :). I know what you mean. Tine seems to be slipping by so quickly I can't keep up with everything. Remember when summer seemed to go on forever? All lovely days of doing nothing? That ended at about 12 YO. I miss it. All of can say is at least it isn't hot :)

  5. ah, Julia, I love the glare of desk shot too why not revel in all that glorious sunshine!!

..I would too and love the way you describe making a card as do that often myself! Usually also stop mid stream because not quite sure which way to go. And a change clears the inspiration or so I find!

  9. I think the reason so many make cards Julia is cos they can be made in snatched moments like that. That's the joy when you have such a busy life.....just make sure you get as many snatched moments as you can.
Sending you lots of love and we really did wish you could have been with us yesterday.
    Hugs,

  11. Hi Julia, I love the sunshine to but right at this moment it is low in the sky and glaring right in my eyes...have to line up the window frame so I can see what I'm typing. ... still it's far better than gloom.. The days sure do speed by - some time ago I thought it would slow down when I retired...mmm nope!, so one has to crafty when ever possible...hope you git to your desk for some fun...Cheers RobynO#11

  15. You must be home because you have the desk ... but the sun is shining. Why do I live up north? It is raining here, as per usual. Ah well, must get on and see if the sun shines for others. Bah humbug!

  18. Good morning,
Well, you're not the only one in need of inspiration after the holidays.... I haven't crafted at all since my holidays!
I just spotted your coaster with 'knickers for chocolate on it' , that made me smile. A good way to start the day.... now for breakfast!
    Have a good week,

  23. When I'm working, I seldom know what I'm going to do next! So I go about my business until inspiration hits and I come back and do a bit more to whatever I'm working on! Your desk looks great with the sun coming through the windows! We have been having lots of rain lately but I'm trying really hard not to whine because we really need the water! Glenda #33

  25. Hi Julia, love how the sunshine creates bars of shadow on your desk- a nice reminder we do get some sunshine in this country. You are quite right, the waiting is shredding my nerves something awful. And lacking any mental stability in the first place doesn't help, lol. I'm totally dreading it, and wanting it to hurry up at the same time! Love and huge hugs, Shaz xxx

  26. Yup. Sunshine must be savoured because there is so little of it in the long winter. Arrrrgh! Did I just say the "w" word? Slap my wrist!!!I'm just so busy right now that I am not managing to get much crafting in. It's happy busy for the most part, so I'm not complaining. :) I'm barely managing to keep up with the DLP, but I haven't missed a week so far. Being so busy does make the time fly! (or is it aging that does that??) Never mind---- back to it. Happy WOYWW

  27. That sounds like not a bad plan, Julia. I could sew one bird, make the beds, sew another, clean the bathroom, and so on! Seriously, it's summer and we need to enjoy the sun while we can - there's so little of it - and that's a lovely shot of your desk. Have a great week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #36

  28. I love sunshine, too. I see it playing peek a boo between the clouds this morning. And in my new studio I have LOTS of natural light. I'll share. I've missed my friends here and am thrilled to be playing again. ~Creative Blessings! Kel

  29. Your bright sunshine is wonderful! I love those project that you get done in the in-between times. They feel like they took no time at all. :-)

Thanks for the blog visit earlier.

  30. Oh your post made me so happy today! Here's why...I feel the same way when I'm making something, then have to stop and do dinner, then work a little more on it, then I have to go to bed so I can get up early to go to work! *sigh* And then the fact that you love that sunshine strewn desk is perfect...it is happy and gives the whole situation a happy character. And isn't so wonderful how we can use those goodies we get in the happy mail? All so happy! Hugs. Sandy Leigh

  31. That's the way I always work Julia, spinning the plates... a little paint here... chore... draw... chore... sleep... chore etc etc.
It's actually the only way I can get to create anything. Not ideal but you do what you have to do.
I also agree with you about the sunlight. We have had a terrible summer up here in Bonnie Scotland so I wouldn't shut out the sunlight either. We had thunderstorms and torrential flooding last night too. Do you know whose idea it was to return from Australia Julia... because I seriously need a word with them!
Welcome back from your holiday... and thanks for hosting once again.

  33. I love the glaring sunshine! I work all day in a cement box with no windows in my office so I'll take the sun where I can get it. I really like your desk today. It looks so inviting with the sun and the papery things to play with. I forgot it was Wednesday so I don't have an actual desk on my post today so feel free to delete me if you feel that's appropriate. I'll understand! Judy #47

  35. Grab the sunshine while you can, it doesn't seem to hang around, at least not up north. It's alway hard getting back into it after holidays, easy does it sounds good to me

  37. Someone mentioned BIRTHDAY....hope it was fabulous. They fly by quicker than I like too. You really have some sunshine.. Canada fires quit crossing the State line so we have had some awesome weather. 4 Days of their smoke was terrible. But better than the loss of homes etc.
My life is so busy I didn't have time to join this week, much less even be close to my space. Have a great weekend.

  38. Your desk looks lovely! I would be squinting something horrible though, I've always had light sensitivity (Most of my childhood pictures I look like pop-eye). So glad you have plans for the silk! If you have any leftover try some for stitching on a card or layout (just pull slow lol). #48
