Well, 299 weeks of this and you're still coming back! Amazing. On that basis, here's what you came for:
Unusually, I'm trying to do more than one thing at a time which leads to clutter and probably not a lot of achievement. Still, at least there's something going on! I'm doing that thing where you steal five minutes here and there. So you can see the heart tissue paper in the foreground - cute huh - it was wrapped around a pair of new shoes. I'm using some porcelain paints (at last) to decorate the contents of one of the boxes that have formed a tower on my desk for the last month. That reduced tower is now covered with pre-scored card blanks for no good reason at all. In front of that you can just make out the painted papier mache hearts that have also been awaiting attention. Do you sense a deadline?! The yellow and blag bag/basket thing contains my buttons, I crocheted it from a jelly roll. This probably makes it the most expensive storage in the world.
So show and tell will ya - we'd like to see what you're doing too..pop a photo on your blog and link here. That would be grand. Thank you.
Oh and..HOUSEKEEPING:
The WOYWW Crop takes place this year on Saturday May 16th, same times and location as before, here in sunny Wiltshire. If you'd like to come, you'll be very welcome. Details and a sign up list will soon be available, but at least your diary is reminded!
I'd love to come tot he crop- tho loving and coming seem to be miles apart.
ReplyDeleteOne never knows.
When we have heart tissue, anything is possible.
Robyn (seem to have misspelled my name)4
Just popped by before going to bed ( Tuesday night here ya know) can't believe I made #1.
ReplyDeleteLove the tissue paper laying there.
Is that little dish in the shape of a tea pot???
Well, you know I'll be there.. Love your button storage, even though I don't (still) really know what a jelly roll is... The heart wrapping from your shoes (posh shoes obviously) is fab! I save all kinds of papers like that, got some lovely stuff from round some flowers... one day I'll use it...yeah right!
ReplyDeleteI dropped by before bed as well - can't believe I'm in top 10! lol Great shot of your work table. So much tissue paper!
ReplyDeleteWhat does that mean, you crocheted it from a jelly roll? In my world a jelly roll is something to eat, a cake.
ReplyDeleteThat tissue is so lovely, the shoes must be very girlie :-)
Have a nice day Julia!

What will you be doing with all the boxes? And I thought a jelly roll was material for quilting? Questions, questions!!!

It may well be an expensive button storage but think of all the fun you had making it....I've never tried crocheting with fabric.

Morning Julia. I think it was a great - if expensive way to make some storage .. Looks really good. Oh, how I would love to come down to the crop - and I'm not an ocean away - just too far for a one day trip - and can't leave hubby overnight. Boo hoo!!!
ReplyDeleteTake care. God bless.
Margaret #11
Wow! So many things going on at the same time! I would love to come to the crop. Maybe my sister and I can have our own on the same day as I don't think there's anyone else here in the Philippines who comes knocking at your desk every week. Love those hearts! Patsy
ReplyDeleteNow I can see why you said you needed to get to your desk!! But I didn't have you down as a porcelain painter, lol!
ReplyDeleteThe Crop will be here before you know it.....

There's a bit of everything this week. Enjoying the progress of the mushrooms, that are really hearts.
ReplyDeleteI love that heart tissue paper. Yep, I'm a squirrel too. I keep everything that looks remotely usable.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what a jelly roll is but the button storage looks great!
I've put 16th of May in my diary as we will be holidaying in the UK during May. (Although I can't take much supplies with me on holiday). It would be great to meet some of you 'in the flesh'.
Have a great week,
Lisca#25
The black and yellow bag jumped out at me - I love it - but what is jelly roll, I've never heard of it? The little teapot is gorgoues! Hope you have a great week,
ReplyDeleteDiana #33
Pretty tissue paper! I'd hang on to that too!
ReplyDeleteWould love to be at your get together if there wasn't thousands of miles in between :)
Have a good week,
RosA # 36
Well, five minutes here and there is sometimes more productive than sitting for hours faffing about. Still it's supposed to be therapy, not about achieving (or that's what I try and tell myself when it takes 3 hours to make 6 bunny cards I will sell at £1!!) Have a happy Wednesday and yep I shall be at the crop!! Cindy x
ReplyDeleteThe crocheted jelly roll holder looks very up market and probably worth the price. Sweet little dish... I do hope you post a pic of the finished result . do you have to fire it in the oven??
ReplyDeleteSandra de @37
So fun stopping by each week and seeing your desk. I do love that crochet organizer.
ReplyDeleteLove that button holder!
ReplyDeleteTissue paper - aah! had some once that was stamped with Buck House motif all over it - in gold of course! - I only bought a keyring from the shop!!!
Thank you for sparking the memory.

Wow! #299 what an undertaking it has been for you to keep us all in line and going in the same direction for 299 weeks! You have to be a magician to be able to keep us all lined up and very happy to boot. I have become so addicted to this that if you ever stop, I don't know what I will do on Wednesdays!
ReplyDeleteGlenda #45
Hi Julia, love the colours of those paints. I think we've figured out getting to the crop, will only be for a couple of hours though.Doug's sister would have to pick one of the only two weekends we have plans for this year to get married! But be there we will. I save all sorts of wrapping stuff- somewhere I have some really nice corrugated printed card that was wrapped around an in-flight meal, lol. Huge Hugs, Shaz xxx
ReplyDeleteLots going on there and all with looooooove in mind. Looking forward to seeing what you are up to :D
ReplyDeletex x x
I love the bright coloured ink/paint bottles on your desk - it looks 'Springy' and happy to me! I had to look up what 'jelly roll' means and when I was past the cakes (a jelly roll is also a Swiss cake!) I thought indeed, that must be an expensive storage basket! I love it though! Happy woyww, Marit #41
ReplyDeleteI'm so relieved that I'm not the only one who has no idea what a jelly roll is -- other than a nice dessert, that is. LOL Lots of interesting happenings on that desk. And I'd better not mention tissue paper because I'd have to think about the stashes of it over here.....can't go there! :) Happy WOYWW.
ReplyDeleteI had hoped to join in this week, but life and time got in the way. I won't miss the big 3 oh oh, though.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea you could crochet fabric like that. Great use for a jelly roll you might not like to use in a quilt.
LOVE that tissue. Some girly shoes, no doubt.
This is such a great way of meeting other creative bloggers, thank you for making it happen! :) Ellie
ReplyDeleteI didn't know what a jelly roll was, I had to look it up! It looks great! I look forward to finding out more about the crop - it sounds so exciting. Lunch Lady Jan has mentioned it once. Wiltshire is not that far from Gloucestershire. In fact, it's right next to it!
ReplyDeleteWow, if I had wings and could fly across the ocean I would love to come to that crop! sadly...my wings have not sprouted. Love the look of those little bottles of paint...hopefully a closer look at the project you used them on later. Shel-PaperOcotilloStudio #51
ReplyDeleteHi Julia,
ReplyDeleteLove the desk this week it looks like production is happening. I do love that storage expencive or not it's great. Oh can you please remove link no 38 for me it's the mobile link and it is horrible.
Hugs from Yoda

Like the look of the porcelain paints, i am always attracted by bright colours. The challenge is putting them together harmoniously though !
ReplyDeleteThat crocheted basket looks fab, definitely worth a jelly roll as long as you enjoy it every time you use it, that's what I always think. Mind you I had to ask Mr Google what a jelly roll is! Love the colours of those procelain paints. Happy WOYWW :o) Annie C #56
ReplyDeleteHi Julia! This is my first time actually sharing my link for WOYWW. 299 weeks, wow! I can't. Join you at your crop but what about a What's On your Crop Table Weekend? Then we can all join in!!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I get more excited about the wrapping paper than I do about the item inside! Your desk looks awesome today, love the view out your window - is that something green I see? Regardless - I don't see snow! Lucky you!
ReplyDeleteLindart #59 (hopefully will stay that way!)
Oh if only I could just pop on over to sunny Wiltshire!! I feel like you are my tribe members and I'm stuck on the other side of the pond. *sigh* Well, what you said about something laying there for no good reason at all--that's half my craft table! Hugs! Sandy Leigh
ReplyDeleteHello!
ReplyDeleteI see that you are as busy as always - so many interesting projects going on! I wish I could join you all in March - that would be such fun and great to meet you! Wishing you a happy day today!
Hugs,
Barbara Diane
Your desk looks very busy and productive! Sometimes those five minutes here and there seem to work better than when you have hours but no mojo. That *is* pretty tissue paper -- I would have kept it, too. Happy WOYWW! ~ Laura #65
ReplyDeleteHapy WOYWW Miss Julia! Deadline? Hmmm I have one of those. So where am I? LOL I've not seen the porcelain paints. (covering my eyes so I am not tempted by what I can not see) Creative Blessings! Kelly #66
ReplyDeleteYour crocheted bag is beautiful, and why not store things in it if you want to? :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy creating and happy woyww,
Sandy #34
Hi Julia, this is a bit late for me but been at my mum's for the last couple of days and just got back. You do look busy this week. Love the tissue collection. The bag is great too, might have to have a go at one of those, they sell Jelly Rolls at Hobby Craft.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week, Angela x 60
Wow...No300 next week, I will have to be on better form and participate! This week just got clean away from me. It being 8:45pm, I only just realised it is Wednesday! Loving your distractions from the deadlines on your desk this week.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could get closer to your bag...'cause i confess, I don't know what a jelly roll is!! I love what your doing with the little saucer!! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteJulia You have so much creative things going on this week and love that basket it's so pretty and those paints are just wonderful spring colours :)

I really have no clue what a jellyroll is so, I will take your word for it being spendy. :) I love the side view of your table and it looks like the lamp has a good reach to go where ever. :) ~Stacy #72
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW. Nearly No.300! Lots going on your desk. Mine is looking very similar. Ali x #73
ReplyDeleteYou are doing so many interesting things at the moment :) I am looking forward to see have they all turns out :D I recognise the mess from myself, if it wasn't because my work desk were my dinner table as well, it would look the same at my place :p

ReplyDeleteCazzy
Loving the love themes of your desk this week... And that you are obviously busy being creative.

Hi Julia, the heart covered tissue is lovely - how nice to get a pair of shoes wrapped in it too. I'd agree that using jelly roll fabric to make the button bag must make it priceless. Glad to be back. Hugs, Elizabeth xx #76
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't I comment when I linked ? No idea as i did enjoy seeing your busy desk! Love that basket! Chris x 53
ReplyDeleteGorgeous tissue paper - expensive shoes? What is it you are painting with porcelain paints? Nosey Neet Needs to Know. (all the 'N' sounds)
