What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 293 WOYWW

If you'd like to read about WOYWW and then join us, please do.  Links Here and Here to help.
Well gentle Desker, I may not be doing anything earth shattering, shocking, mind blowing or awesome; indeed, I'm not really being creative.  I'm only having a proper tidy up! I know. Finally, she stopped whining and just made a start.  Gawd, I wish I hadn't, but it has to be done.  Here is the gloom of Tuesday evening..I'm just starting to order the scraps box. I have three piles - keep (and eventually put back in scrap box for use), donate - oh the bits and half sheets that I just know are 'scraps' because I don't like them rather than because I consider them useable) and recycle.  The recycle pile is really just the shaped bits that I'm trimming off to streamline the scraps. I have a sub-division for the 'Keep' section too - patterned and plain.  So far so good.  Just don't ring me and ask me to make a card any time soon!

Now please do the same; post a pic of your work area/desk/table/tray/floor/lap onto your blog. Put WOYWW in your post title and link the post here. (It really helps to link the actual WOYWW post and not just your blog address).  Visit as many as you like, be inspired...it really does do that. Inspire.  Thank you.

HOUSEKEEPING:  several of you are complaining that I (and others) have a 'NOT A ROBOT' check instead of word verification. You're quite right. But not by choice and we can't remove it. If you have a Google account, you can, I've discovered, just ignore it. But its been forced onto us Blogger users and we cant change it.  Sorry. And if you know different, please share!

  1. Morning from a yawning H... well done for tackling your scraps box - I am determined to keep mine in order this year (ha ha ha) we'll see which of us fails first...

  2. So glad you explained the robot thingy we have been forced to endure. Seems it's on the pop-up comments only. I changed to embedded for a day, but don't like embedded comments, so went back to pop-ups and explained it to people for awhile. I hope with you getting the word out, others will understand.

I see you are bitten by the organization bug, too. Glad to see you are making headway. Just remember (as if you'd forget), it's darkest before the dawn.

  3. I decided its not that hard to click the robot thing anyway, much better than trying to decipher those horrible words we used to be faced with. After three or four attempts I used to give up.
Good toes someone tidying, I guess mine will have to wait until I get home but in the meantime I have tidied a bit up here and now have lots of jobs before I go home.
Please forgive the absence of my desk - am I let off or not?
    Hugs, Neet xx 3

  4. Happy New Year to you, dear Juilia! Back after several weeks without a computer (my hard drive crashed the weekend before Christmas!) Sorry about the linking snafu - both links go to my WOYWW post I believe but the cat stepped on the Enter button before I was done editing the first link. Anyway, have a great week - it's good to be back!

  5. Morning Julia Januaury seems to do that to people doesn't it, makes them clean out stuff. Thank goodness for that. My kitchen cupboards are all nice and tidy now and smelling sweetly, my scrap paper however continues to get the better of me!
    Have a happy week

  6. I was wondering if I had the "not a robot" on my blog (it didn't show up for me lol). I'm still finishing up some holiday things, but the Christmas hat (and the big ass pom pom) are posted on my blog, the recipient only looks at my facebook account : D. Well done on the clean up!#6

  7. I just skip the robot thing and click publish, goes through without any problems or other verifications. Oh well, something we will just have to work with.

Good for you sorting scraps.....I hate that more than anything else. I do need to go through and donate some of those I've had hanging around, cause I don't like them either. See what a good influence you are on we deskers????? LOL

Still late Tuesday night here......yawn, yawn....just finishing up a recording of Agent Carter, then it's lights out.

  8. Ooooh I love an organisation sort out - it either inspires me to make something or clears my head for a while and makes me think that I have been doing something crafty even when I haven't. I had a major clearout last year - gave loads of stuff I no longer wanted to my sons schools (they were so grateful) however you still cant see the wood for the trees here - oh well I think us crafters are just hoarders in disguise really aren't we!

  9. Oh those darn scraps...I almost never think to use them. I've grouped them in colors and placed in file folders. Out of sight out of mind. Working on fabric next..it either all fits in the cabinet or it's going. Use it very little anymore. Have a wonderful week, It's my time to dream.

  10. The change is a pain I agree. Wish Google had communicated it to us first so we could have explained it to our readers, so glad u have :-)
Well done on starting the sorting but that is a massive box of scraps and puts mine to shame!

  11. Your desk will be mine before too very long!! We just found out that we are only allowed HALF of our normal household weight allowance for our upcoming move!! HALF!!! I'm far more willing to have my lovely furniture put into storage than my paper and crafting supplies, but the family has yet to be convinced of that tactic. *sigh* I feel a purge coming on......

    ReplyDelete
  12. I like to pretend I'm a robot [or am I just a rebel?] and refuse to click the box....it works fine for me but they will probably stop us doing that too :-)
Well dome you with the sorting.
    Hugs,
    Annie x

  14. You are doing well, being able to sort your scraps box. So far, I can't even find mine in the debris of my room. I have been driven to going to the Open Crafting session at my local craft shop just to have enough working space to finish three cards. Have a good week with your clear out. xxx Maggie #27

  18. Tidying, the bane of our creative lives! I used to save all the trimmings of cardstock when I was kitting, now they go straight into the recycling.

  19. It seems everyone is cleaning up (at least based on last weeks posts) Have fun, at least it's done when it's over with, and you might find something lovely you didn't even remember you had :)

it is amazing what you find in a nit box, and takes strong self control to ditch stuff you know you'll never use

  24. I can't see if I am not a robot is on my blog...you can't see these things for yourself you see...bloody hell...Why does Blogger do these things? I guess they are trying to help against spam...but at least give us the choice. I too had the great tidy up. Now I am playing happily with my scrap box. I have decided the best way to get rid of the stuff is to use it up!

  25. New Year, new desk for you with all that tidying up. Yes you were right about ignoring that robot thingy, it works and I just skip over it and post yahoooo.

  34. Ha... you started! Did you on purpose put that bright pink sign there to the left of your table ('Non, je ne regrette rien')to keep it going? LOVE IT! I also tried to read what is on your mug (something with 'tidy'???) but I cannot spell the little sentences... I'm very curious what it says! Anyway, happy reorganizing, happy woyww and a hug from Holland. Marit #50

  35. Hi Julia! Good luck with your tidy-up! You'll feel so much better afterwards. I've found that a messy desk (i.e. lack of work space) affects my creativity in a very negative way. So I try to keep on top of things on a daily basis. It's not easy for me as I'm not naturally a tidy person (just ask my husband, LOL!) but it's so worth putting the effort in. I never know what to so with my scrap piles though! Most of the time I keep them for a while and chuck them later, when it becomes overwhelming. Of course it would be easier to do that in the first place, but hey, I never said I was logical! Ok, I'll stop rambling, sorry!

  36. Hi Julia, One thorough clean out, tidy, sort for the year is a great idea, you also get to find some surprises the fairies may have hidden...have fun. Cheers RobynO#51

  38. Paper scraps are a never ending battle for us paper crafters. Good for you for tackling them.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oooooh, the scrap box. It grows faster than weeds in the garden! I keep mine under the table so that I don't have to look at it. I do pull out scraps and use them all the time, but I just never get to the bottom of it! I even save very small pieces of pretty paper because I can't bear to throw them away (kicking the scrap box back under the table guiltily). the word "hoarder" is not in my vocabulary. Good luck with your scrap sorting. I can't think about that today.......

  40. One day soon my desk will look like this....I hope.! Dyeing to have a messy desk. Good luck with the sort out. Hugs and Happy WOYWW! Nan G #61

  44. I can't believe I nearly forgot about WOYWW. Julia I don't envy you the task of sorting all the papers out. I need to do mine but I keep putting it off. Oh and I hope you don't mind I copied and pasted your message about the robot check - most annoying. I have a google account but no idea how to get rid of it...oh well c'et la vie and all that. Have a great week. Anita #66

  45. Gratz on your scrap organizing. I like your system. I eventually bundle them to Hettie! LOL! I just never seem to get to the bin to see if there is anything I can use...Have a great week, and thanks for explaining the robot...wonder if it's on mine too..

  46. Julia, you are fantastic no matter what you do--you don't even have to try to be creative! I am so envious of your scrap paper organizing plan. I need to do this with my papers AND my fabric. Oh, and I loved your blog yesterday. Is T for Tuesday a regular thing? Well now, what I need to do is march right down to my local pottery painting shop and make myself a Ladyship mug!! Hugs. 48. Hey Julia, I tackled my scrap box a few months ago - http://hamnmuledesigns.blogspot.com/2014/08/woyww-271leaving-on-jet-plane.html
It was the BEST thing I have ever done, it has made it easier for me to find scraps and means I now only keep sensibly sized things. Cx #69

  49. Tidying the scrap bin is one of the more tedious (but necessary) parts of crafting. Good luck to you and hope you finish up soon and can play.

  50. The robot thing is annoying but you can just click post and not fill anything out. It's not right for Blogger to do something you cannot opt out of but it is what it is. Love your busy desk this week!
