I'm breaking the web silence.....BOO!

*tap tap tap tap tapping*
It's me. Tapping politely on the inside of your screen. Promise not to knock any important words or silvery bits off if you let me back on.......
*tap tap tap tap tapping*
Oh, you're there. Thanks.  I've bit of an explanation to make, which if you're an erstwhile reader, you'll be quite ready for.
I'm on me holidays. Me and Mr Dunnit are in Spain..you know that because I wrote about it last week..it was intended to be a warning because for once, my posts would be light...a holiday for yourself too, gentle reader, in a way.

Yeah well, the world had another plan. After a languorous two days of sunshine and sand, I took to feeling poorly and have spent the last five days in a really marvellous Spanish hospital, culminating in a short surgery to remove my gall bladder. Bloody thing.  You see these sort of nasty holiday realities on TV.  Believe me, I suffered the English abroad stereotype momentarily.  I'm reasonably sure that the Emergency admissions guy thought that I was your average 'sick on the beach because of alcohol and sun' type.  Fortunately, my status as a member of the European Community meant that he had to give me access to someone who knew better and from that moment, the treatment was marvellous.  Ah, Mi Dios. I'm home now...well, in my Spanish home where I was scheduled to be, and have instructions to do nothing for 48 hours...oh, OK then.  Mr Dunnit and I are happy to have a couple days of quiet together before getting on a flight home, but home will be marvellous of course.
And......oh, don't worry, there are still stories to tell.  But there aren't many pictures of mud bathing or beautiful architecture...but there will be body parts.  Boredom when feeling better may have caused photographs of bruises.  I am still considering the implications of exposure.

  9. YAY! Glad to hear you are home and feeling at least a little better. Sorry to hear about the vacation being spoiled and not being able to enjoy the sardines and Sangria! I had a vacation like that about 10 years ago and landed up in an ER...not a lot of fun! Vickie

I wish you a safe trip home and a speedy recovery! You are cherished and we are all so relieved that you are fix-ed!! Hugs, Darnell

  29. I've heard of having your hair cut, removing jewellery and going to the the toilet before you weigh yourself but having your gallbladder out is a bit drastic.
You didn't need it anyway Julia.
Have a safe journey home and PLEASE take it easy for a bit.
No WOYWW for me this week I'm off to our caravan in the Lake District with the brain dead welder and my gallbladder

  33. Oh dear! I was literally JUST about to reply to this when we lost power. Terrible storms last night! But so glad to hear you are on the mend, although are you having to cut your holiday short? I hope not. You may cross DS at the airport, you never know, as he flies IN to Spain today LOL!

DSis and DDad BOTH had gall bladder problems. DSis had hers out but I think Ddad is holding on to his at the moment. He said it was a pain like no other. So glad you feel you got good care - and isn't that just like a "gatekeeper," to suspect you were trying it on? The same no matter what country you are in I suspect. Still glad you had your Julia on and made him let you thru.

Will hear the whole gory details at the crop, I suspect. Take it easy (paperwork only, nothing that requires the use of steel-tipped boots) and see you soon...

  46. Hiya Julia, glad to see the post meaning you are ok and back amongst us. Hope you are feeling better every day. Take it nice and easy, I'm sure you will, especially with all of us nagging you, lol. Bit of an extreme way to get yourself surrounded by Spanish drs, though, wasn't it? Couldn't you have just sprained an ankle or something? rofl! Lots of love &hugs from us both. xxx

  47. Ouch... I am glad you are okay and able to enjoy some free time. Gall bladders are worthless irritants, I ended up having mine out six weeks after my third baby. Long story, but I am really really glad you are on the mend. Can't wait to see all the pics. :)

  60. Hi Julia, so relieved to see you are recovering and will be home soon. Know exactly what you've been through as had gall stones several years ago - unbelievable painful - and eventually surgery, keyhole too but not exactly straightforward unfortunately. Don't think you will have any regrets at having your gall bladder removed ... it's a piece of equipment, like the appendix, that we can live without. Take care. We both wish you a speedy recovery. Elizabeth xx
