There's not a lot to report..the lack of iPad on stand is a good indication of the lack of time I've managed at the old desk so far this week! But I think I have finished the party invitations and that's a bit of a relief actually. The lovely 'One Day This Desk Will Be Tidy' mug is looking a bit empty. Because the pens it should be holding are strewn all over the desk! Ah, the irony. The notepad under the invitations is my work 'day book' and is probably the best tool I own in truth. Every day I write the date at the top of a clean page and it becomes a phone log, notebook, list maker place. I draw lines between things and can cross 'em out when done whilst retaining a record. Important when your memory fails as often as mine. I'm never going to get used to using the computer for such things. I dread to think how I'd get on in a real office!
So..you know the job at hand - upload a photo of your workspace to your blog, put WOYWW in the post title, link here and join the visiting. I promise and guarantee greater inspiration and more interest at every other desk than this!
I'm not sure there would be more interest, because there is a TON of things to see on your desk this week. Interest abounds! Happy WOYWW, dear one (or maybe should read some) day tidy desker!
ReplyDeleteLove how those invitations have turned out. Love that mug, I will have to hunt one down now that I am collecting mugs for Bluebeard and Elisabeths T Meme
ReplyDeleteBridget #4
I love the pile of invitations - if that is what they are in the front of your desk - they look fab. I could have done a live post this morning as I've been awake for ages, which is not good!! Anyhow, have a good day.
ReplyDeleteOh poop. Long comment eaten. Lovely invitations, and I'm a lister too. Can't do it online. We are in good company - I love the (old) book Life Among The Savages, and there is a very amusing section about lists in there. I must find I for you.
ReplyDeleteNot risking another commrnt loss so happy WOYWW
MA
Hilarious...very late night and early start means I added an 'r' to the end of my name.....now I know I am from the west country....but that's just ridiculous!
ReplyDeleteKyla #18
Those invitations look rather good! It's nice to finish a project like this, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteOh, lists, I have them everywhere, but they are gradually all going into the cyberspace of my new phone :)
Have a good week Julia,
RosA # 15
Ha ha the thought if you causing caisson in a real office .... But I bet they would have good list of things to do.... Trying to use my phone for such things but it's not easy
ReplyDeleteHave a good week
Janet@5
I do not use the computer for those lists or organizing things either, even had an app on my phone and finally deleted it...LOL
ReplyDeleteThere is just something satisfying about crossing something off the list!
Have a great week.......times running by quickly.
Krisha
Droopy eyelids but I spy some gorgeous invitations! Will you post a close for us? Hugs and Happy WOYWW! Nan G #15
ReplyDeleteYou always manage to show us a desk full of interest. It still manages to be remarkably organised. Your invitations look wonderful. Looking forward to the Crop. xx Maggie
ReplyDeleteJulia, those invitations look really fantastic! I'm a list maker, too, from years of working in a real office - so, see, you would have been a natural!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to be along this week. I have special company that wanted to say hello! Hugs, Darnell #24
The invitations look lovely, Julia! And I need a mug like yours. No doubt mine will also be empty! Happy WOYWW!
ReplyDeletethe inviiatons look great hope we get to see a closer look as for not intretsing there is alwyas lots to see or am Ijust nosey! ...maybe this is the week for the tidy desk although I thnk it has been much much worse!... ;-) have a great week crafty hugs Andrea #11
ReplyDeleteMiss the brightness your window usually gives. My furnace kicked in and I have my plants covered, we have a frose warning. Love the looks of your invites. Enjoy all that you have listed. I could not accomplish anything if I didn't have a list or two.
ReplyDeleteMorning Julia, I agree with the others, there is lots of cool stuff to see on your desk, and the invitations look wonderful. I do lists too, just haven't got as far as remembering to either look at them, or take them shopping with me yet!Have a lovely day, Hugs, Shaz xxx
ReplyDeletewell done with the invitations...they look fab. I have little post it pads for memory joggers and end up sticking them everywhere lol
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Annie x
I'm with you on the lists, lists are good! Karen #33
ReplyDeleteYour desk looks like organised chaos to me, Julia - a real hive of industry! Whatever your hubby has planned for today, I hope you have a great day. Thanks for hosting us again.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW,
Shoshi #34
Your desk looks so busy - mine looks naked - I just haven't been working hard enough this week!Your invites are really lovely and I think I need to get back to using a day book instead of all my odd scraps of paper - at least you have something to look back on too. Have a good week. x Jo
ReplyDeleteI used to have a big book like that when I was at work but seem to use scraps of paper now, although I do have a desk diary downstairs left open on the week in hand. Love the invites. BJ#39
ReplyDeleteYour invitations look interesting and your desk always has something that catches the eye.
ReplyDeleteI have a notebook too as I just can't keep everything straight on the PC and I don't have Apps on my mobile - give me a hardback notebook & pen every time.
Toni xx
The invitations look great. I too need to write a list cause my thoughts are as scattered as my desk. Now where did I put my glasses?
ReplyDeleteBe well Carole #44
It's pencil and paper for me too. It seems alien to write a list online and I don't want to be staring at my laptop screen all day. Too many distractions! The invitations are looking lovely and I spy that beautiful mini book too.
ReplyDeleteloving the pile of invites and really made me chuckle that the mug is nearly empty lol - have a great week - Nicky #30
ReplyDeleteYou must feel as if a free day is a gift! How exciting - what are you going to do with it??
ReplyDeleteWhatever it is, take care and have fun!
Hugs, LLJ 22 xx
Good morning, Julia. Just wrote a message to you, and blogger lost it - so here goes... I am just so relieved I am not the only person who needs a notepad to tell me what I should be doing at any moment of the day... My house is littered with pieces of torn notepad reminding me of dates, times, shopping lists, appointments....
ReplyDeleteLove that mug of yours - it is a sentiment I heartily agree with!!!
Take care, and have a great week.
Margaret #46(at the moment)
I too prefer to make lists but you are far more organised. I tend to do it on whatever piece of paper I can find which I often cannot find again lol!
ReplyDeleteLooks like being a nice day, hope it's the same where you all are.
Happy crafting, Angela x 50
Still a great desk photo Julia and it always looks busy to me! Lyns xx
ReplyDeleteLove the invitations.
ReplyDeleteI make lists of things to do. I also use the Sticky Notes programme on my PC.
NB...I emailed you last week using your Contact Me! thingy, but not heard back from you. I was asking if people who cannot get to the crop can order the tote bags and if so how much and how do we pay for them. Sue
I am so like you Julia....clean page, new daily list lol don't you just love crossing them off one by one..sense of achieving or are we sad or what!
ReplyDeleteDawn #54
Busy desk as usual Julia ;D
ReplyDeleteThe invitations look great and I'm all for the lists on paper and not in my phone or computer. There's something very satisfying about ticking them off with a thick pen.
Entered WOYWW after months away...TICK)
Thanks Julia...it's always great to take a peek ;D
Neesie #56
Your invitations look great! Love the the distressing you did on them! Paper and pencil/pen are my list making tools of choice too! I love to cross stuff off lists too. Makes me feel productive. I love to draw on paper and make big boxes on my work desk. If I have people in front of me, or thinks tossed at me that I need to address each goes into their own box. I then cross them out as done. So much easier than me trying to remember. A late friend showed me that trick at the desk, and I always remember here when I see a full grid paper ! Winnie #57
ReplyDeleteGood morning girl! I love seeing what you have going on each week and have been enjoying your posts for some time now. Several years! Love your invitations and the fact that you are not ashamed of your list. I still make lists, but now I lose my list! Happy WOYWW!
ReplyDeleteGlenda #58
Ah, I love a good list!
ReplyDeleteThe invitations look great

Looks like you've been busy : D. The pens out of the cup remind me of the elves helping the cobbler, but that could just be me without enough coffee (2 sips so far). Can't believe I'm #66 2 weeks in a row lol. Happy WOYWW!
ReplyDeletep.s. I know what you mean about writing things down lest they be forgotten because writing about your notebook slipped my mind until I hit the publish button lol.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by earlier Julia.
ReplyDeleteJust letting you know a Snap album is a ring binder album from Simple Stories & the collection is called snap.
Happy woyww jill
Fabulous desk lovely, those invites are so lush. Not long till we all see each other again!! Take care Zo xx
ReplyDeleteOne year for Lent, I gave up making lists. It had mixed results.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on finishing your invites.
Each day I get up take a look at the calendar and wait and see which things will need to be changed.
Thanks for the snoop around!
Robyn40
I'm loving the pile of cards / tags in the middle there - lovely colours. I'm a notepad girl too for all the reasons you say and I just like the feel of the pen on the paper, it helps me think and its easy to cross out and draw lines between and link up and doodle and all that!
ReplyDeleteAndrew is a great list writer but then he forgets to take it with him when he goes shopping, or leaves it in the car!! I rarely write lists, any time I do I never bother to look at them! I don't think your desk is without interest, the fact that the invitations are finished means something got done and you had some time at the desk recently. I like the not getting up at 6 bit, I do that 5 days a week and love my Saturday lie in!
ReplyDeleteHugs

As always Julia a busy desk, glad to read you're finished the invites. I love the idea of a day book and might just adopt this idea as my memory often fails, especially as I walk out of one room to go do a task and it's forgotten by the time I reach the next...oh dear. Cheers and have a pretty cool week RobynO#73
ReplyDeleteMorning, Julia - I'm way behind today because Wed has suddenly become my busiest day, rather than my quietest. Thanks for visiting for WOYWW. Your desk looks as busy as ever! Can you share your ideas for storing card and paper scraps, that you mentioned, please? I'm at a loss with mine. Cheers, Chris x
ReplyDeleteI'm a list person too! I keep one in my classroom and one at home too keep me on track of everything I need to do. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteYour desk is almost as messy as mine! I like the irony of the mug and the scattered pens. :-)
ReplyDeleteApril
I love the idea of your notebook!! I have one at the office but none at home. I should have one at home to keep track of stuff I need to do, phone calls etc. Of course my notebook at the office is always a mess! So who ma I kidding!!!! patsy
ReplyDeleteThe invitations look great! And yes, I still need to write things downs in my book, or desk pad....we have to also use the work Outlook calendar; but I don't like it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a GREAT idea to use a simple notebook to keep track of EVERYTHING each day. My memory has failed me as well. I use the computer a lot but I can't get the hang of using it for everything....just seems easier to write it down but then I have tons of notes every where on bits of paper. I feel so dumb for not thinking of a 1 notebook to rule them all!! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hostessing this fun segment! #63
Maybe I should go back to list making - it always used to be the way I used to get things done while I was teaching! Love those invites! Chrisx 79
ReplyDeleteI see lots of goodies on your desk especially your completed invitations. I may have to start keeping a daily log with the things going on here now. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteCarol N #77
Hi Julia, your pile of invitations look lovely and I like that mug. You'd be a natural in a 'real' office ... your system is exactly the same as the one I used throughout my many years of working in an office. Once these day books were full they were labelled with start and end dates and archived ... odd to think that all these years later they could still be lying, dusty and forgotten, in an a dark and dinby basement somewhere :) Hope you've had a good day after your unexpected long lie this morning :) Hugs, Elizabeth xx #78
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the traditional notebook, Julia. I use a composition book. That is why I thought the Documented Life Planner would work for me - a daily organizer that is pretty with a designated place for art. You'll see mine coming together in this week's post if I get in there and get a pic taken. hehe
ReplyDeleteCreative Blessings - Kelly
Love the stack of pretty invites on your desk. I know how you feel about a list. I am a Project Manager (by day) and a list is vital to my job!! I have a new page every day, dated and I colour code items to fit the day...and strike through them when done. Cx #80
ReplyDeleteLovely desk with a pile of finished invitations - hoorah! I also have a daytimer I use, and yes, everything that happens, phone calls, new passwords, any info at all, goes into that book!
ReplyDeleteLindart #81
I swear by a list it's the only way to get things done or I forget things !!!!! Infact my daughters the same and has an app called wunder list so she gets everything done!
ReplyDeleteJackie 9
Hi Julia,
ReplyDeleteThat's great that you are done with the invitations. I bet it's a huge relief.
I keep a journal of what I do (at work) and if I forget to write something down, from, say a few days ago, I have trouble remembering. It's terrible. I'm old school in that I like writing in a official "Notebook." I keep appointments on my computer calendar though.
Your desk looks fine - you crack me up about the mug and pens.
Happy WOYWW
Hugs, Kay
PS -- Is the crop scheduled around the same time each year?
I tell you what Julia--we are kindred spirits. I too have a day job notebook that is my constant companion, and I DO work in a real office each day. At my desk is a huge desktop computer with two screens. And yet there is something about pen and paper that to me is more handy, more reliable, and more enjoyable rather than everything having to be digital! And yes you were right about Chummy! Last episode began her storyline about her poor mum--can't wait to see what all unfolds. Hugs! Sandy Leigh
ReplyDeleteHi Julia! What a great idea using your note book! I just leave piles of notes on my desk!! I will have to make a note book, not sure why I never thoguth of that!! I am a huge list maker and it keeps everything on track!! I'll have to put that on my list today!!
ReplyDeleteI love your invitations and as always looks at you desk makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside - really, like my desk it means a happy productive creative life..
Hugs,
Ginny M - Check my post if you can, I have a contest!!
While I use computers for most things--checkbook, calendar etc. I still have a notebook like yours to keep lists and notes and such. It's just much easier to carry around and doesn't have to be plugged in for a run down battery! Have an awesome day!--Sandy in Texas
ReplyDeleteOh how I love my Ipad! I would be utterly lost without it. But, I do enjoy seeing there are those who could kind of care less about the necessity of a computer! Hugs.
ReplyDeleteLoving those invitations! And I really like the idea of your day book! My memory seems to be going too, and I have a spiral notebook nearby but it's just a jumble of things on a jumble of pages. Actually using the date a turning a page is a stroke of genius my dear!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW!

A notebook! One of the best things I was ever introduced to ... something I too could never be without either. I can't resist looking at notebooks in the shops either .... and sometimes they pop into my basket 'just in case'!?!
ReplyDeleteComputers are good but notebooks are better!!!
Bishopsmate #87
Those invitations are looking really interesting, pity we can't see them close up, they look lovely. Quite a tidy desk this week but I am missing that iPad of yours. Hope you have a great week and happy crafting.
ReplyDeleteHugs Eliza & Yoda 90
sorry really late this week
Happy WOYWW
I still say tidiness is over rated. As long as the mess keeps changing, that means progress is being made. :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy Woyww,
Sandy #49
I giggled about working in a real office. I used to, but my desk was so neat and tidy. Very strange difference from what it is today with all my clutter. lol You might be surprised at how different you'd be, too.
ReplyDeleteThose invitations are stunning! Thanks for hosting us all again - let me know if you would like to swap an ATC this year. Happy WOYWW. Caro x (#92)
ReplyDeleteSorry I am late commenting on your desk, internet problems this am. Why should your desk be tidy? I should throw away that mug and buy one saying 'Work in Progress' or something similar. Nice fun desk you have there.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my non-desk and you nice comments
Chris#41
i hope you enjoyed your lie in. The pile of ATCs is looking good.
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday,
Rachel KatzElbows
Hello Julia, always a pleasure to see your fun and busy world, thank you so much for your visit and yes those were body parts on my desk... That does sound rather grim don't you think, :) x
ReplyDeleteIt's been a while since I last posted to WOYWW and it's tempting to get back into it. Perhaps in the very near future I will again join in the fun.
ReplyDeletegloria
I keep meaning to buy a notebook to jot down colorcombo's or stamp mfg stuff ( things that I tend to forget between making something and posting it) so, I think your having one for daily things sounds like a cool idea. ~Stacy #98
ReplyDeleteThat's funny thought I wrote something last night before I went to sleep from my phone but I'm guessing I forgot to hit send lol. It's not that bad living in Renos you get use to it. The dust I could live without but they go hand in hand. Your invited look wonderful and your space us pretty tidy hugs Nikki 6
ReplyDeleteHappy Belated WOYWW. Posted late yesterday after a break of several weeks and FORGOT TO COMMENT HERE!! I hope you can forgive me! I was a top level Secretary/PA for many years, and always had a notebook system on the go. So useful to go back if I was asked for a telephone number, when someone called etc, etc. Ali x #94
ReplyDeleteWhew....I was running to make it on Wednesday, but must have been distracted by something shiny! Now I'm off to have a look around.
