What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday WOYWW 251

To sum up, my desk is in desperate need of tidying and in doing so I hope to find my mojo and finish some nice cards. Oh my.  It's 250 weeks too late to be ashamed, but really, this picture makes it seem so much worse.

And worse..this is how I left it on Sunday afternoon.  Photographed late Tuesday afternoon and erm, as of Tuesday night when I'm writing this...it's unchanged yet.  Although I have moved the basket of unpacked supplies from the chair to the floor...I felt that despite everything, I still deserve to sit whilst I type!
So the mess comes from making cards for the Marathon (are you sick of reading that yet...) I squeezed - literally, squeezed one out of my mojo on Sunday and then realised that in order for the Marathonista to consider making it, I'd have to pre-cut the leaves.  So you can see the pink pot and a pile of leaves.  I'll show you the card..after the Marathon and tell you how many ingrates didn't bother to make it despite my efforts.
No, it's not a plastic Antimacassar, it's a 12 x12 cello bag....waiting to be put away. Hmm, not exactly surprising.
Come on then, shame me by showing yours..tidy and productive, no doubt....  put WOYWW in your post title and link here so that we can visit at leisure.  You may need to put the kettle on.

  1. If I didn't know it was your desk, I could think it was mine.
    I'm a messy artist and I'm proud!
I do tidy when needed and then I mess my desk up again.
If you can't make a mess you can't make anything at all.
Ok- enough-thanks for the snoop around and I hope you find time to take a look at my mess!

  2. Gosh, sounds like you've had lots of prep for the marathon. Maybe you need a little rest.I always find tidying to be quite therapeutic.
I had a massive toss out/ clear up this past week. Can you see my halo glowing Julia?I feel so FABULOUSLY free. I have more to go, but I'm on a roll.

  5. Messy, never just a working gals station. I too tried Tuesday to clean up and have to admit defeat when I reached the levels of scraps and bits that I want to save but don't know where. Never mind tidy desk means nothing to do.

  6. Isn't the floor a great place to move stuff to when there is no more space on the work top?

I did run in here and pick up and stash stuff out of sight before the PC technician arrived this morning. LOL

If Betsy is too tidy it means I have left home, slightly tidy means I'm chasing my mojo. This week....well come by and see for yourself (grin)

  7. You're right - your desk is a mess! But I think if you look under that stencil over there you might find your mojo. I could have sworn I spotted it. LOL April

  8. Definitely need the kettle on, Julia!

.. but hey think you are ultra brave showing us your space ..
I tend take cunning shots, I shall confess, so look much tidier than is - as have done usual push and shove..
mm definitely think you deserve to sit down whilst typing I stand to craft however.. unless doing something tedious like the stamp sorting, speaking of which do love your leaf stamp! Shaz in Oz.x #15

  9. Nah, never be ashamed of a messy desk. You know the saying--better messy creativeness than idle tidiness!

    Or something like that . . .

  12. Oh Julia,

I think we have the same virus at the moment, it can't be the weather because we are in different seasons so just blame it on Mr Who-knows, but it isn't our fault anyway... LOL

Funny I have leaves stamp on my desk too.

Have a great week and happy desking.

A very happy WOYWW and enjoy a sit down and a rest while you go do some snooping... crafty hugs Andrea x #20

  15. Love it Julia when someone's desk is messier than mine! The only reason that my desk is a little tidy today is because I had to take my table to the art fair, and so of course, I had to remove EVERYTHING on it. Now, I can't find most of the stuff and expect to see it pop up in the coming months! Happy WOYWW!!!! patsy

  16. Messy girl but we've all been there one day or the other with our spaces. Mine more regularly then I would normally like it but I will just have to wait till I get my own space once it's built hugs Nikki 4

  17. Now Julia, it's only a mess when you can't see even a teensy bit of your desk and I can see plenty, so it's quite neat really. I had thoughts of you perched atop your basket on the chair until I read that you put it on the floor to type. Shame, it gave me quite a giggle. My desk is it's usual trashed self, can't work any other way really.
    Have a great week,

  30. Oh Julia, I do hope you find your Mojo under there somewhere, I get like that too if I haven't done any crafting for a while. Wanting to make a card but absolutely no idea what to do
Hope your mojo is back by now. Looks like a nice foliage stamp on the acrylic block, maybe that will get the mojo on fire.

  37. Well Julia, I don't think that's too messy - it's busy and productive! At least you can see the surface of the desk in one or two places and can see what colour it is. There are times when you couldn't do that with mine. Sometimes when you are being really creative and productive, tidying up is a counter-productive activity which stems the creative flow (at least, that's what I tell myself). I think your desk is a nice desk - this week and every week! Keep up the good work!

Finally managed to get back onto WOYWW this week, as there is atually something slightly different on my desk! My sewing machine is still in hospital so the direction of my creative flow has been somewhat diverted this week.

Have a great week, and thanks again for all you do to keep us unruly WOYWW-ers in order.

  38. People of like minds I hear make good friends...I think with this group we could throw like desks in and it would apply. My desk only got straightened cause I needed space for the canvas I am working on! Have fun cutting all the leaves out! I am currently working on trying to put together all the gears I need for a tag class. I love steampunk but it can be a lot of cutting! Have a great week! Vickie #49

  39. Now that is dedication! I cut most of what is needed and give my ladies everything in kit form, as you know, but that would be a step too far for me! Here's hoping they all give it a bash.

  53. Wisht that's nothing that a quick 5 minutes clean wouldn't take care of! I'd come and do it for you if I wasn't so far away. Being mojo-less when you HAVE to have mojo sucks. Having been there myself from time to time, I hate it.

  60. I think it was a valiant effort to move the supplies from the chair to the floor! Well done! I had such a lack of energy over the weekend, that I couldn't even think about moving something from my chair to the floor, let alone pull one teeny card idea out of my mojo. Your desk is not a horrible mess though. It's a gorgeous scene of mad creativeness! Hugs! Sandy Leigh

  62. Hi there Julia, this week, I have to agree some days other things in our lives get in the way of our mojo .. like having to cook meals or remember to hang out the washing. I'm sure your cards are gorgeous and everyone will love them.. Cheers and have a wonderful week RobynO#78

  63. In my world, the words "tidy" and "productive" do not belong in the same sentence! You obviously have been busy, and sometimes when we are very busy, especially with a deadline, the mojo needs a rest. So, don't worry about the mojo, it will come back! #79

  78. OK, it might be the angle of the photo, but I personally think that desk could be cleaned up in about half an hour. But if it was, we wouldn't know what to think. After all, we've now had 251 of these shocking revelations (grin).

Well, I made it home, no thanks to the biting cold, gale force winds (no, I'm not exaggerating), and blowing rain. Never been so glad to see Bleubeard and get warm. Hope you are having a great week.

  79. Sadly my dear 9 year old had used up our bandwidth yesterday and I could not post...AliH has some pics of me at my desk though from when she ventured to my neck of the world last week! See you next week!

  80. You think that is messy! If I had managed to get as far as my desk, then you would have seen real messy. I had to remove a huge pile to even run an embossing plate through the machine. Thank you for your visit. There is a very good reason for my loyalty to Clarity, and that is the high quality of everything they sell, and the friendly, helpful professionalism of everyone in the team. Barbara, herself, has been so incredibly supportive throughout this year. I did visit every stall in the show but like a load of others, kept getting drawn back to the crowd round her demos. Needless to say, it will be mainly Clarity stuff that I will be bringing to the crop with me, including the brayer and blending mat, and the Gelli. xx Maggie #8

  82. Hi Julia - thanks so much for taking the time to visit me for WOYWW this week, and for your kind comments. You sure are one busy crafter! Make sure you don't overdo things, and enjoy your week xx

    ReplyDelete
  83. Thanks for your visit and your comment, Julia. The scanned sheets would only be test pieces for experimentation to make sure what I wanted to do would work. Once I'm assured of that, I shall work on the originals. Each sheet takes quite a long time to create, because I only generate 2 teabags per day unless I stay for tea after church when I get about a dozen.

I use the computer quite a bit in my art and have no problems with that - it's just another tool, after all, and the actual creativity comes from the same source - me!!
