What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 250

Click HERE for WOYWW - how to
And click HERE for info about WOYWW5. The anniversary ATC swap.....
And now..eyes down, look in....argh.....
Took the photo Tuesday afternoon, still quite light at nearly five - lovely.  And although I say argh.....looking at the portion that's been captured by the lens...it's not so bad!  I'm making cards still, some samples to show off a set of stamps I'm going to be using at Japonica for workshops next Monday.  No pressure.  All the usual culprits are there, you can just see the handle of the paintbrush that I've been using.  You know the story - the brush is for applying the Mica sprays to the paper because none of the sprays actually work. See that little tin of paint at the back there? The colour is called 'Putty'.  It's a vaguely sort-of-not-quite-clean cream.  I use it to base coat ATCs and such, nothing special.  But..it makes me feel like a real artist because Peggy and Patsy use (real) wall putty to add texture to their (real) art.  And hey, never  mind the difference in medium, it's the same WORD! Good enough for the likes of me!
Show and tell will ya - put WOYWW in your post title, keep it relevant and if you link here, by the power of the 25 year old internet, we'll be round for a good rummage and a virtual cuppa.

  1. Hmm. I couldn't get Mr. Linky to take my link this week. First time that has ever happened. Guess I was in the queue, though. Don't you just love that word, queue? We don't use it in the states.

Had to laugh at the fact the sprays don't spray. I don't care how MUCH MONEY you spend on those things, they clog. Never thought to use a paintbrush. You go girl!!

  5. Hi Julia!
You are a real artist! You are awesome!
I just need to understand something (if you wouldn't mind telling me) how is it that I can't seem to figure out what time to link up? Last week I waited until 11pm eastern time USA and the party hadn't started yet. So I assumed it wouldn't be up tonight, and then it was. So I just need to understand when the party starts. I'm a bit of a crazy person about not being late :/
Thanks darlin! Have an awesome WOYWW!

  7. Another busy desk and a sign of huge activity. how is the ATC to work. I bought some TC cards and they turned out to have a weird surface and messed everything up. Now the safe place for when I need them is lost in a swirl of brain fog or maybe that extra glass of wine. Time for bed.

  10. Just look at the fabulous colour blending on that card, that is an artists work if ever I saw it. Artists come in all shapes and sizes, just look at me, useless most of the time but I manage to produce reasonable things sometimes. Your cards are pure artistry lady and don't you forget it :) Plus only a true artist could have such a creatively messy desk!
    Have a great week.

  11. Ms. Julia...of course you are an artist. Anything applied with a paint brush, or heck just calling yourself one qualifies! Happy 250th!!!

  12. Lol its funny how people think they need a paint brush to be considered an artist you can use any medium as long as you create and like what you have made your an artist :) have a wonderful day hugs Nikki 3

  15. A real artist uses paint! Tell that to the likes of Damien Hurst etc. I believe anything that creates something that inspires, causes one to stop and think or even just to try and look pretty is art. Be it photography, traditional mediums, sugar paste, clay, glass, fabric.....need I go on? Yep, you my dear as we all are, are an artist!

  21. Hi Julia...week 250, wow that's fantastic. I just had a look back and I've posted 26 times and started 28 June '13 and thoroughly enjoyed my Weds along the way, visiting desks across the globe. Love the colours you're playing with today and flowers (my fav). I'm interested to know about the ATC thingie in June. Cheers and have a great week, don't know how you manage to visit everyone hugs RobynO#38

  25. Yay! I made it here in the top 50 this week! I am having the same problem with the mica sprays and dabbers gumming up with the mica. I sometimes wish I hadn't spent so much money on them. Another complaint today is all the Tim Holtz crackle paint I bought over the past couple of years has just about dried out....grrrrr...money down the drain so to speak. Love the look of your desk. loved... Have a great week. Vickie @45

  31. Good morning Julia
I've used the farrow & ball colour String before now. We painted our front door in one of their paints but then my hubby went to the paint shop and got them to mix a cheaper version of it so that he could use it on the garage door. He took the snob element right out of it. It doesn't sound the same saying it's Dulux

  32. Love the results of your artistic play.

Your desk isn't that messy - I can still see some glass mat there LOL

  37. Ok so putty for the walls in art, maybe they mean polyfilla. I 'm a little confused ( nothing new there then). I thought you used putty on Windows, maybe I should get an apple. When did the meaning of all these things change so radically.... Maybe I'm getting old and my sense of humour stranger. Oh well c'est la vie

  38. Yes of course I consider you an artist! I have many bottles of sprays that have clogged and naturally the sprays that actually work don't fit the other bottles but I never thought to use a brush! I really must be getting old! Happy 250th!

  51. Lovely and light and bright pink and springlike! Our clocks went back over a week ago and the daylight hours in the evening are wonderful, like welcoming back an old friend. The mornings are pitch black again at 6:30am when I leave the house, so that's the downside I suppose. Putty/putty paint, I like how your mind works, more over, I identify with how your mind works!! Which is more scary than my tidy desk this week!!

  52. Hello Miss Julia, I'm back to play today, lots of pic's but kept the chatter to a minimum, that wasn't easy LOL. I love the card you got there, it's beautiful,I've never bought any of those sprays, just made my own and used up what I make, no time to clog. You are a REAL artist, creating gorgeous cards, no matter what you use. Have a wonderful day, ((( BIG HUGS)))..

  53. Hey there, love the busy desk. Soak your spray nozzles in warm water, then try them, if they are still clogged give them a little longer..it works for my Asthma inhalers!! Our clocks went back last week and I leave for work and come home in the light - lovely. Cx #74

  55. heheh what is it with those sprays? When you see someone demo them on YouTube they always spray perfectly but when I try and use them more than once I just get a couple of dribbles and very inky fingers, so I just end up flicking and dripping them instead ... tsk ... glad it's not just me! 71. Huh... when I clicked on your name in my comment section it took me to your Google + page. I don't recall *that* happening before.

Anyway, wanted to tell you that the metal tins on my desk have magnetic backs and stick to this long thin sheet of metal that I used to have screwed to the side of my nearby bookshelf. You stuck the tins to it and could keep things in them like embellishments. I have it out to sell because I never remembered to look in them and more than once I knocked the top off a tin spilling the contents all over. I'm going to sell it at the crafty yardsale and let it be someone else's problem.

  80. Lovely busy desk, Julia, and I love that card - it's gorgeous. Sorry not to make it onto WOYWW yet again - I've not been too well this week and am very exhausted from continuous coughing from my throat infection of a few weeks ago. I had hoped to do something exciting with my teabags yesterday, only to discover my sewing machine, which hasn't been used for some time, needs repairing. I've had two almost sleepless nights and am feeling really rough atm but will try and visit a few desks and say "Hi" - I am sure things will be better next week!

It wouldn't be fair to ask someone to link me, then not visit anyone for several days. However, I'll be back next week with (HOPEFULLY) some gelli plate knowledge under my belt.
