I am a creature of enormous habit. If I have an early start to my day for whatever reason, I'll make it a bit earlier. I need (need) two cups of coffee to kick start my day and I like five or ten minutes to myself, catching up on my blog reader.
Currently, the weather is set fair in dear old England and I'm enjoying lots of deep sleep and very early mornings. Mr D is an early riser and in the summer weather, I've adopted the habit. I like the early morning cool and after the coffee, I can get about and do chores before resenting having to stay indoors. I think I am very typically English in this sense...I have a nagging guilt if I don't 'make the most of the good weather' by being outside. And so, I've another new habit... I'm carting stuff outside to work on, or even more extraordinarily, I'm doing real outside chores. The porch is next, needs sanding and re-coating...gah, the work habit thing is not what I intended. To start today, I have a birthday card to make (for today!) and so I've cleared my desk, set down my second coffee and any minute now, will stop procrastinating and get to it.
This revelatory post is coming to you via Elizabeth's T is for Tuesday gathering. I love the idea of relating a post to whatever cup or mug is currently in use at my side - probably the most universal of habits!
Love it! I have to have my coffee, but am falling apart in the heat. I find myself setting the alarm early just so I can shower and dress without melting. Melting Zoe = difficulties dressing. Not nice. I love to be outside too. But find I just don't cope any more with it so get that impending guilt about not making the most of it! So I'm here in my craft room, coffee in hand, dressed sort of, and have the fan on me. Baxter is at my feet. But it's fab! Take care Zo xx
ReplyDeleteIf you exchange the coffee for tea... that's me to a T!! LOL I like to be first up, make the tea and have a quiet ten minutes to myself.
ReplyDeleteI'm another that likes to be first up, with time to 'gather myself' before the day begins. Also a creature of habit who is *still* mourning the loss of Google Reader. The substitutes just aren't cutting it and blog reading has gone out the window. It's very handy when folk link on FB :o)
ReplyDeleteI'm the first one up in our house and usually get to enjoy a good 2 hours to myself--late sleepers here!
ReplyDeleteI'm also a coffee drinker. Lately, I've been staying up late because it's cooler. I have to make sure I water my herb pots early each day, too. I usually go to bed when the sun is high in the sky. Seems it's easier to catch up with my International friends when I adjust to their schedule.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you joined me for T today. It looks like you're all ready to face the day, too.
Thanks to Elizabeth for making it easier to connect with her Mr Linky.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I were lucky enough to spend a lovely vacation in the UK last month...we enjoyed so many pots of piping hot tea and delicious coffee too in your wonderful country!
wish there were places here in the US that did tea as well!
Happy day to you

Make mine a coffee and I'm right there with you. I'm on my second early start of the week this week. Got a 3 day twin week so my days start about 6!
ReplyDeleteI was falling asleep by 9 last night...they are long days when you're chasing 2 very energetic toddlers around hehehe.
Have fun in the sun,
A x
Oh, it has to be coffee first thing in the morning, my tea is usually iced and saved for the heat of the afternoon. I am right there with you on the 2 cups and a bit of quiet time to reflect on the day before I get down to business.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day

Ah, for me it has to be two cups of tea but I am with you on everything else. I too, feel guilty if I don't make the most of the weather but have to admit the heat 'get's' to me - can't complain though as we get so little of it... hope you get the birthday card finished in time! Hugs, Anne x
ReplyDeleteI do so miss my tea! I really don't like it without sugar. I'm told I'll get 'used to it' but 6 months ..no...7 months on and its still yuk!
ReplyDelete((lyn))
Tea for me, every time but I speak from experience when I say I know you need your coffee in the morning... lol!! Glad you are enjoying the weather - I am not, I'm melting! Enjoy the rest of the day.
ReplyDeleteI need those two cups of coffee before anything or I am a zombie. I am trying to do an online card making class. not me my inky finger usually ruin the dam card right at the last stage, all that embossing dust and then to find it is the wrong color. Ugh off to card shop for some funnies.
ReplyDeleteHurrah to crafting outside.
ReplyDeleteKyla
I am enjoying the outside too. knitting while watching 2 year old erin play in the big baby bath with plastic cups ..... bliss
ReplyDeletejanet
Ah crafting outside... Just can't do it unless its crochet or knitting.
ReplyDeleteI'm a two cup of tea in the morning person. Without those my day will be ruined
Completely with you on the get-out- as-early-as-possible-before-it-gets- too-hot-thing, oh yes!
ReplyDelete:)
I do like this view of your desk...see you in the morning, I too will be on cup 2 of my coffee habit!
ReplyDeleteWhen you said you were going to do the porch i thought you meant like dust clean polish brush it out !!!! Not sanding and painting!!!!!!!!!! Wow you're a very multi talented lady I take my hat off to you
ReplyDeleteWell that was my good laugh for the day, I think you doing great even contemplating the porch, it's in the high 40C around my part of the world, NO going outside. My DS has been out side in Keddington, enjoying your sunny weather. The post below was wonderful, having crafting friends are the BEST, thanks for sharing your coffee, can't wait to see the desk tomorrow or maybe the porch hehheh. Have a wonderful Wed...
ReplyDeleteOh yes...coffee is a must. And definitely more than one cup...even on the warmest of mornings, I need that cuppa. Hope you enjoyed your day!
ReplyDeleteGuilty as charged m'lud . . . of thinking I HAVE to make the most of the beautiful weather we're experiencing that is.
ReplyDeleteI am a creature of habit too . . . but EARLY mornings are NOT one of them. No Siree! I admire all you early risers (but will do so from under the duvet) ZZZZzzzzzz
