subtitle: Is this the most boring desk in Britain? Even as a twofer?
But be warned my friends, I have found the most boring craft occupation in THE WORLD
Yep. rolling my ribbon collection onto dolly pegs. It's mind numbingly boring, even with a play on the radio and a cuppa. I can see this being short bursts of activity over many many days. On the bright side, I have already found ribbon lengths that I didn't know I had. Most of the ral craft work is taking place elsewhere this week - I'm about one third of the way through a quilt for Jan and Jo's scheme and am working up some crochet from my armchair. Neither of which I'm going to photograph until they both look like something. You know what I mean!
I've created two pages this week, find them in the top left margin will ya - about the WOYWW crop and the Anniversary (yeah, WOYWW4!).
Meanwhile please, spark my desk interest back to life - show me what you're up to in your craft space; put WOYWW in the post tile, load a photo onto your blog, turn off word verification if you can and link here. Easy. Be reciprocal in your visiting people, at least!
Oh my, Looks like operation ribbon sort is well and truly under way, Well done you x You'll be so happy once it's done and there all looking pretty x Happy Wednesday chick x
ReplyDeleteHoly Cow! How did I get the first spot! So cool! hey, ribbon rolling is progressing nicely. Happy WOYWW! Nan #1
ReplyDeleteLook at you go Julia I've rerolled all my ribbons up too it is boring but once your done so rewarding not to have to do any more lol... till you buy more
ReplyDeletehugs Nikki #9
Your desk looks electronically challenging. And the ribbon projects look like what I'd do in our car while waiting for my hubby to return.
ReplyDeleteWill be nice when you have it finished. And I like your term Dolly Pegs. Haven't heard that before. Happy WOYWW
Ribbon sorting ..... far too organised for my liking. Although once you have finished the job I am sure you will be happy with the system. I am far to scatty to sit still for that long.
ReplyDeleteSandra @12
Good morning!
ReplyDeleteWow so many ribbons :)
Have a great day girl!!
Hugs Marleen #11
Wow... I saw the ribbons in an earlier post, but not in context - that ribbon pot is HUGE!!! *lol*
ReplyDeleteDon't think of ribbon winding as boring, think of it as therapuetic (put some music on, have a relaxing time) and a voyage of discovery for all those ribbon pieces lost in that ma-hoo-sive jar! *lol*
Have a wonderful Wednesday Julia :)
Bubbles #14
(still not making it into the top 10, even after her kitty wakes her up at 5am! *lol*)
Ohmygosh - what a job!! How will you store/display all those lovely little pegs when you're finished?? I love ribbon and lace, and buy most of it from England, because you guys have the most scrumptious stuff! :D
ReplyDeleteHave fun rollin', rollin', rollin'!
I couldn't imagine! I wrapped a wreath once in yarn and thought I'd die from the boredom of it, lots of drudgery...yet now I love it, and so will you once it's all wrapped and organized. Keep calm and wrap on! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina ♥
ReplyDeleteI have to ask what you do with the dolly pegs when you have wound the ribbon onto then. Where do you store them? Does it mean the demise of the beloved ribbon jar? We shall miss that. Have a wonderful week of winding, sewing and crocheting. xx Maggie #15
ReplyDeleteI love ribbon but never thought of rolling them onto a peg .... Like you have a lot one play on the radio may not be enough..... Jackie 13
ReplyDeleteWOW Julia!!
ReplyDeleteI well remember when that ribbon jar made an appearance on one of my first WOYWW's and being blown away with the arrangement :D and yes can imagine as lovely as dolly pegs and ribbon are the two together for looooog periods of time would be mind numbing.
I loved your post below too read earlier today here and off to peek at other desks now!! love Shaz in Oz.xx #21 or so :D
sadly, sometimes fun has to come second, but well done for doing the paperwork! sadly you're meeting in burbage, wilts not burbage leics, so it's wayyyyy too far :( also, can i made a regular card rather than an ATC, as i can't work that small any more...
ReplyDeleteWell you're certainly getting through the ribbons! I cannot knock your determination and I am sure they will look fabulous when all done (though I would have given up the will to live by now!) :-)
ReplyDeleteKyla
Your desk just looks like a work in progress Julia! I love to see mess around as it means that we are constantly thinking of what to do next lol! At least that is my theory and my excuse! Happy WOYWW :-) Janene #26
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW. Ribbon rolling should be an Olympic sport! I am limbering up for another session after buying more dolly pegs yesterday. Yes to the Crop (trip to Scotland for the mountain biking world cup is the following weekend) and I will be making ATCs. Ali x #24
ReplyDeleteI don't envy you the ribbon task - not sure I could do that with all mine!!! And accounts, I ate saving to do men too - so double sympathy!
ReplyDeleteHgs
Cathy xx
Hi Julia, well what can be said about your project that would make you feel less bored. I got it!! Just think of it as decorating your dolly peds with ribbon!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteKrisha #32
I feel your pain. Been wrapping mine on boards. Argh, I'd much rather watch paint dry! Have a most wonderful week! I hope you find time to play.
ReplyDeleteTrust me, you do NOT have the most boring desk!! I love your heap of pegs that really do look like dollies. I can image a little 3-year-old spying them and squealing with delight! (Horrors after all that winding.) Also, I spied "will show my knickers for chocolate." LMAO! Not boring! Darnell #35
ReplyDeleteHi Julia
ReplyDeleteSorting out is GOOD! Just think how organised you will be when its finished... Happy WOYWW!
Lynda B #37
Busy desk both for the business and pleasure! I think putting the ribbon on pegs would be just about as boring taking stamps off blocks like I have been doing...OMG! I was hoping someone would shoot me the other night cause I couldn't seem to find a stopping spot! Like the new links. Looking forward to the swap! Vickie #39
ReplyDeleteI bet you're secretly enjoying every single second of the ribbon rolling........ :). NOT! Like all things worthy, it'll be w good job done when you've finished!
ReplyDeleteLLJ 39 xx
Howdy Julia,
ReplyDeleteGood luck with those ribbons.
I gave up trying to find a system for my ribbon a few years ago. For my purposes, as soon as I bring my ribbon purchases home, I just cut lengths from each spool 6" or 12" long. Then I store the cut strips by color family in large gallon ziploc bags.
It was driving me crazy to find a storage//travel system that worked for my purposes.
Would love for you to visit my blog when you have a moment or 2. This week I have a freebie tutorial!
Peace,
LuLu

Sorry, Julia!!
ReplyDeleteI have realsied just now that my first link was to an earlier post!!
- which incidentally was a tutorial on method Maggie Silvercrafter showed me, with ink and plastic wrap - accidentally linked over to wrong one!!
Shaz in Oz. #21 or #42 take your pick :D
oh dear sorry to hear its not an enjoyable task but will be so worthwhile and it will look great too happy WOYWW Andrea #45 x
ReplyDeleteHi Julia
ReplyDeleteSo you don't see sorting your ribbon as real craft, just think how pleased you will be when working on a project you are able to lay your hands on that piece of ribbon needed without a problem.
Also all your ribbons are going to look so pretty on those pegs.
A job well done I say
Happy WOYWW hope you have a great day
Ria #48
Looks like you are having some creative thinking time. Doing something mundane is the perfect time for me to be thinking about my next project.. You will love it when it is done.. Looking forward to the next ATC swap have read all the info and will be so lovely to get into making them again..
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW
Sandy :)
Well we've all been there done that, the sorting I mean, has to be done and what a relief when it's all accomplished.
ReplyDeleteElaine #51
oh gosh, those ribbons are going to take some winding... will all those pegs fit into your jar or will you end up with 2?! You have the patience of a saint. Good luck, lovely lady, you will need it. I read your pages on the crop and swap so I'm geared up. Helen, 8
ReplyDeletethe ribbon rolling will be worth it in the end im sure cant you multi task and do it in front of some car crash telly?!? the other desk looks like a desk to avoid but good on you for getting it done i always put paper work off to the death!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW tfs Mrs.C #49
www.craftylittlemoos.blogspot.com
oddly when I find a task boring (and have managed to avoid doing it until it just HAS to be done) when I actually do do it, I daydream and find it deeply relaxing, and they do look pretty on your desk, and you will liek the end result, and if you need help why not invite round suckers (ooops friends) and have a dolly winding party?
ReplyDeleteComment for the 'boring desk' -
I find even with the guide I can never hole punch two pages in the same place...I think I may be defective....
dxxxx
Crumbs Julia - what a ton of ribbon!! Keep winding and Happy WOYWW! Hugs, Di xx
ReplyDeleteHehehe how did I know?....do check out my blog on Friday to see what I mean :-)
ReplyDeleteYou look so productive there with those ribbons Julia....and what an amazing amount you have there too. :-)
Hugs,
A x
Hi Julia
ReplyDeleteI don't know about boring but annoying I can do. Putting threads onto a spool then dropping it on the floor and it all unravels or dropping your tin of sorted buttons or the bottom falling of the hole punch and the bits going everywhere. You get the picture.
How do you secure the end of the ribbon once you've finished putting it on and where will you then store them.
Oh my, that's a lot of rolling and a lot of pegs needed, but these things have got to be done. I didn't get round to everyone last week, I will try to do better this week!
ReplyDeleteCarol.x #56
I wonder how you will display all those ribbon dolly pegs - they would certainly fill a long washing line! Have a good week. x Jo
ReplyDeleteThis is my first time entering WOYWW! I was panicking because I couldn't find the link yesterday...so now I know it comes up on a Wednesday...derrr! Oh you will not think me creative as my desk is way too tidy compared to yours...what fun you seem to be having though...all those ribbons in a jar!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour ribbon is going to look great. I'm working on getting all the ribbon i bought at the thrift shop sorted. it is sitting in a huge heap on the right side of my desk...just out of camera angle...I'm saving it for next week or my post would have been too long.
ReplyDeleteGoodness, you've more patience than me with that ribbon rolling, Julia. I think I would have given up on that by now, well done for sticking at it.
ReplyDeleteAccounts!! Well they have to be done and as my Mum used to say you can't play until your work is done!!
Happy WOYWW
Hugs Lisax #70
O M Goodness, I now want to get out all my ribbons and dive into them! Roll in them! Jump on them and then...by that time, men in white coats will appear.. I have most of mine in jars, but they get tangled, and then need ironing, which is about the only thing I iron, (poor hubby) Other peoples piles of stuff always look soooo much nicer. Happy Wednesday!! I was 72, but by the time I've typed all this out I'll probably be 109
ReplyDelete((Lyn))
the ribbons that have been tided away look fabulous and just think how good you will feel when it's all done :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure once the dreaded job is done you will be pleased but how will you store all the pegs?
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.
Morning from one one of your nutty followers!!
ReplyDeletePoor you having to do accounts, certainly one thing I don't miss about working for myself. I thought about using pegs for ribbon but find my big deep drawer works betterthan any ther system I'vetried so far. But I may still resort to using pegs for the random bits which are always getting tangled. I'll just remember not to start that job when I haveotherthings to do!! Good Luck..
Look at all that ribbon!!! I spied the show knickers for chocolate mat - need one of those! Happy woyww, jenx
ReplyDeleteGee, I think ribbon rolling is as boring as watching paint dry, yuk. I would see if you can convince some poor sap that it's a fun job and let them do it :) Looking forward to the ATC swap again.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Von.
I can see you are going to be busy with all that yardage of ribbon
ReplyDeletexx
Thanks for organizing this fun event each wednesday! :)
ReplyDeleteI can see you have alot of ribbons and lace´s to orgnize.
Have a great day!
SusanLotus, nr 16
It'll be worth it in the end.
ReplyDeleteThat's all that can be said for the ribbon rolling, though, like everyone else I'm curious as to how you will store all the pegs?
Have a great week.

Ah, the accounts ... a necessary evil! In my working days, days I no longer yearn for, I sorted out too many carrier bags of invoices to number ... your way of catching up monthly is infinitely preferable. I so wished my clients were as disciplined.
ReplyDeleteHaving just spent far too many of the precious hours left to me on this mortal coil sorting out my ribbon hoard, I have got to agree that it is a boring - probably the most boring - occupation, albeit worthwhile. And one of the real benefits was discovering those forgotten beauties and the prospect that when a certain colour, width and texture is required, it can be found in a moment :))
Happy WOYWW, Elizabeth x - this week a shameful #79
Operation Ribbon seems to be going well - there seems to be a lot of delicious looking ribbon in your stash. I am currently not purchasing anything - other than card stock which you can't do without so that I use up the stuff I have - by the look of the desks and craft rooms we all have a huge amount of stuff and can't resist buying more... I am sure us crafters are keeping the economy going LOL.
ReplyDeleteGood work with the accounts !
Not taken any photos of my workspace, there isn't anything on it (being a tidy freak), hopefully I will do something nice on it tonight if I get home from the business a bit earlier than we have been doing.....If not will enjoy looking at everyone elses.
K
Great ribbon storage, now did I really throw out all my dolly pegs!!
ReplyDeleteat least you have the accounts sorted
Happy woyww
Toni :) #82
Such Fun! What a task you've set yourself but Oh! when it's all ordered it's going to be pretty sight! Chris (83?)
ReplyDeleteps linked to last weeks at first-Doh!!
Looks like a task and a half to me Julia. How long do you think it would take you to a)sort all those ribbons, b) use them all?
ReplyDeleteStill they will look very decorative once you have finished. My task from hell is cleaning all my stamps and sorting them back into their original boxes, tend to give up, throw them in any-old-how and complain like mad when I can't find the ones I need later.
Ann B

It will be great when all the ribbon is rolled x
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW Heather # 85
Do you know I actually like those sorts of jobs? They are ones that you can still maintain while you are chatting to someone and so you can be doing crafty things while other people are there! I would all mine around little cards last year sat in the garden - very therapeutic ;-) xx
ReplyDeleteWhat's that? Oh, it's a hole punch! With the accounts and the ribbon tidying I happily award you the most boring desk award!!!
ReplyDelete** Kate ** #87
Ribbon Organisation !!! I still haven't found one that is completely to my liking /easy to get at. Ah well. Will carry on with my system such as it is. Love the peg though. Used to have great fun making little dolls out of them. Happy WOYWW. Anne x # 88
ReplyDeleteOur ribbons live in two decorated coffee mate tins, comfortably entwined around each other, so comfortably that hen you want one, the others refuse to give up their companion!
ReplyDeleteI hate the job of untangling ribbons but it still doesn't stop me chucking them into a jar instead of rolling them up as I finish with them lol
ReplyDeleteI have my accounts to do too but I seem to be spending a lot of time thinking about doing them...time which I suppose could be used doing them (iyswim). xx
Wow! That is organized. I am glad you found some that you didn't know you had! Always a plus! I should do this too, but I don't think I have the patience! I just keep my scraps in jars by color. Dump and dig kind of gal! Have a fun day! Winnie#91
ReplyDeleteRibbon Rolling….almost a mind numbing as sorting buttons and brads into respective colours but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do if you want them to look pretty. Just keep reminding yourself how easy it will be to find what you’re looking for when they’re all done.
ReplyDeleteHappy Crafting!
Sue

Goodness, I typed up my post early, checked your blog, still showing the lovely bracelet, then fell asleep and now I'm at the bottom of the stack..again...sigh.
ReplyDeleteI don't envy you that winding task. A big basket would be a lovely storage bin for those pretty pegs though.
Crikey, that ribbon project looks mammoth - rather you than me lol!!
ReplyDeleteI'm rather taken with the button jar behind it though :-)
Happy WOYWW
Debs x (think Im #95)
I did the ribbon deal about a year ago. Since then I have fell by the wayside and have another drawer full to be done. Talk about a lazy crafter. I hate organizing the ribbon...you are so right about it being so boring. I would rather watch paint dry!
ReplyDeleteGah! Accounts suck...I did a similar thing with my ribbon, but using embroidery thread cards...mind numbingly dull, took me about 2 months, but it looks amazing and makes the ribbon so much easier to find and use. It's worth it. Happy WOYWW. Cx #96
ReplyDeleteYour space & goodies looks great xx Jan Ltc
ReplyDeleteCripes that's a LOT of ribbon to wind! Poor you, glad you've got some "proper! crafting going on too! Have a great week. MM x # 97(I made it in to double digits this week - whoop whoop!)
ReplyDeleteWinding thread and ribbon is something I would LOVE to do - I'm weird like that, yes... I find 'boring' work like that a bit meditative... if I lived close, I could come over to help, ha! Happy woyww and enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteOh I know how boring that rolling ribbon on pegs is - I have actually given up for a while because it was sooo boring - I am not sure I will ever get back up to it again! Doing accounts can't be less boring either unless you find that you have suddenly earned a million pounds! Huh! Anyway your desk is colorful and I love color!
ReplyDeleteLots of hugs,
Cardarian
Oh dear having a bad day, not only did I post the wrong link at first but forgot to note the second one was the correct one and then forgot to comment then when I just tried to post my comment it all died!
ReplyDeleteSo here I am again. Please could you delete link #54 ~~~BJ~~~ as it is wrong. Thanks
And as for the ribbon winding, rather you than me. Mine are on a jailor's ring, or in boxes. Where do you intend to keep the dolly pegs?
BJ #58
Hi Julia! Thanks for the lovely comment. I have purchased my metal tape from local hardware store. And I looked that it´s made in England. I don´t know if "Advance" is the name for the tape or manufacturer.
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday!
Tuire #3
O what memories! I used to 'dress' these pegs as my dolls house people when I were a young'ne .. spent hours with ribbon and lace ...... is this the grown up version? will you be drawing faces and hair? what about boots - they will have cold feet!
ReplyDeleteBishopsmate #106
Hi Julia, rolling your ribbons may be boring, but it is a wonderful idea. I have a boat load of ribbon pieces in a box and rarely use them because I don't know what I have. I am going to try this. Now just to find the dolly pegs. Have a great day. 107
ReplyDeletePhoto 2 was the best of course.. ribbon rolling...mmm? my new years resolution to get fit on excercise bike is still being kept up.. wondering if I could attach a peg to get it to wind up the ribbon as I rode a few miles...soon would be done LOL... Happy WOYWW Gill x
ReplyDeletesuch a familiar sight. Good luck sorting :)
ReplyDeleteIt's my first time participating WOYWW, fun!
I loved your post today, I spent hours doing exactly the same once, so frustrating xxx
ReplyDeleteJust a thought, and not that I'm encouraging child labour, but don't you have any small people who could wind ribbon for you? My Miss 11 and Miss 7 would enjoy this for a while, and then a couple of cakes or small pile of stash would ensure another few pegs were filled...
ReplyDeleteHave a good week
:)

Hi Julia
ReplyDeleteRibbons and buttons - my idea of heaven,
Rosie x
I thought organization just meant you get to play later.... That's a lot of ribbon! And look at all the buttons in the jar! Lots of fun coming.
ReplyDeleteCarol N # 115
A desk with ribbon on can't possibly be considered boring, not in my world anyway! It's good job at least, when it's done you can feel all virtuous!!
ReplyDeleteHugs
Brenda
Good luck rolling all that ribbon. Can't wait to see your quilt and crochet pieces for your chair. Happy Wednesday! LisaDV #116
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of ribbons. Dare I ask what you will do with all the pegs once they are full?
ReplyDeleteThe first picture certainly does not look like a crafters desk but well done you for getting the accounts in order. Desk two is pretty, lots of colours even if it was a bit tedious. Another job done though xx
ReplyDeleteFamfa 113
Whew...it's been forever since I posted! Off to the Day Job...hope to check out everyone's desks later tonight!
ReplyDeleteAh, think about how good it will feel when you're all done with that ribbon though!
ReplyDeleteJust think how good you'll feel when they are all wound up though. I keep thinking the rolled ribbon pegs look like little dollies.
ReplyDeletehave a good week
Gill x #123
I commend you on the ribbon sorting; yes, it is nice to find that hidden/forgotten piece. But I've realized I'm only going to hoard it anyway, and now keep most of them in a big basket, with the yarns!
ReplyDeleteWhoops! My #64 is not linking to my blog...Readers kindly updated me...I have resubmitted under number 126...sorry for the confusion!
ReplyDeleteHi Julia!
ReplyDeleteI am hoping to work on my finances too. At least you can check it off your list.
Let me know how you like this system for your ribbons. I am in search of one too.
Have a blessed day!
Belinda (103)
yeah, office work is no fun! love seeing your ribbon organisation coming along nicely! that is one huge jar!
ReplyDeleteDebxx #124
Look at that lovely ribbon stash! I did some of this awhile back when I went to sorting things into color jars! You'll soon be organized and back to making something! ~Rebekah #126
ReplyDeleteHi again,
ReplyDeleteMy link on #125 didn't work, can you remove it, as the one after does? Thanks!
Creativity isn't tidy!
ReplyDeleteDearest Julia, I completely admire the determination and stamina it takes to tackle such a mind-numbing project--and the results are going to be so completely adorable!! Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #52 (my place in the list is my age!--I happened to wake up at 1:30 a.m., and thought "hmmm...I should link up now!")
ReplyDeleteTotally feel for you winding up those ribbons. I can't be bothered with mine frankly so I am mucho impressed by your determination. Hugs, Jenny x
ReplyDeleteDon't think I would have the patience with the ribbons.Good luck with it. managed to link last weeks desk again this week always doing everything in a rush. When I have gone back to re do again the link and all the names have disappeared?
ReplyDeleteI think it is job best done in very small doses. I remember winding embroidery thread onto cards years ago and after an evening of it my hand was like an arthritic claw! So great to meet you the other day. Looking forward to the crop.
ReplyDeleteFiona xx
Hi Julia,
ReplyDeleteNow, I've thought of winding my ribbon around some of my clothes pins. It would probably look a little neater (well, no doubt about THAT).
You sound like me -- I have knitting going in my comfy chair and a messy canvas on the table.....
Happy WOYWW
Kay (oops, forgot to look at what number I am.....)
OMG. I can't see anyone..... where's Mr. Linky?
ReplyDeleteKay
Oh no, I wouldn't have even wrapped the ribbon--but it sounds as if it's worth it in the long run.
ReplyDeleteFor whatever reason, the linky list is not showing--maybe it's just me?
Will check back later to see if it's reappeared, but here is my link to
bridal banners and snow.
oh glad its not me then that cant see the Linky, was about to sit and have a read.
ReplyDeleteI have lost Mr Linky too. Who has he gone to play with? xx Maggie #15
ReplyDeleteYep, here too... lost Mr. Linky. I've visited about 20 ladies and came back for more - but the list is gone... Marit #100
ReplyDeleteHi Julia!
ReplyDeleteFortunately, the boy linked me up at 5am so I made the party, but the linky is missing for me now too.
Hopefully, everyone who visited left me a way to get back to them!!
xxDaniella#91
Isn't anything not crafting boring? Sorting out, tidying etc is almost as bad as the word beginning with "i" and we all know that the "i" has nothing to do with clothing really.
ReplyDeleteCheer up, do a little at a time and it will be done soon, like next year ...
Hugs, Neet xx

ReplyDeleteThe ribbon definitely looks neat and tidy on the clothespins -- this should make it easier to see what you have. Last year I took all my ribbon off the spools and stuck it in a jar simply because I wanted to free up a drawer. Now it's a mess and I can't see what I have. Ha, ha Hope you're having a lovely day. I'll link up to Mr. Linky when he decides to return from hiatus.:) ~ Laura (http://bookworm.typepad.com/lens/2013/02/woyww-195-3-cards-and-a-tag.html)
ReplyDeleteI find those sort of tasks oddly therapeutic but then I am slightly OCD :)
ReplyDeleteI can't seem to get the linky to load when I come to your blog this week.
Here's my little post anyway - I'll check back later and see if I get lucky!

ReplyDeleteI am very proud of my ribbon rolling over xmas. It's a great feeling when u can see what you've got! Good luck! :) Angela xx
Accounts ... I'm very impressed, that's far too sensible and orderly for me! Really admire your patience with the ribbons too, it's a constant dilemma on how to store such things so they are neat and tidy, but also accessible! Sounds like the clothes pins are just the job. Thanks for hosting and have a great week.

How are you going to store them? Are you going to have dolly peg ribbon bunting across your desk when you are finished?
ReplyDeletemr linky has disappeared so i think my web link needs to be reset. will link soon i hope

There's no way for me to link in. :( Mr Linky is not showing.
ReplyDeleteOh, I can sympathize with the ribbon project. I did all mine, plus the ones I inherited from my mil AND my grandmother. It took for-evah, but was well worth it.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I've done WOYWW since November and the linky is missing. Bummer!
My link is http://keepsakecrafts.net/blog/2013/02/27/woyww-lotsa-ufos/. I'll check back later.
Happy creating!
I had my GD wrap my ribbons. It was just too much for me. Trying to get back in the swing of things and there is no linky showing for me either.
ReplyDeleteWhere has Mr linky gone? can't visit any more desks!
ReplyDeleteThis ribbon tidying looks like a big task - but it'll be worth it all in the end - I think I'll stick to the craft mates ribbon boxes - I just buy a new one each time they fill up - they stack up on top of each other - simples!
ReplyDeleteBernice #72
hi julia, i seem to be missing Mr Linky and 'link within' seems to have replaced him,not sure what this.can't see anything to add my post. have I missed something?

Mr Linky has gone and hidden! I was hoping to comment on everyones, but now can't. I thought that the ribbon task would be boring when I saw it on Friday...well done you for persevering! Caro #65(ish!)

I love your ribbon jar; it's a work of art. Good luck with the ribbon rolling.
ReplyDeleteOoh lady you are very patient! Mind you it will be worth all that time spent to have everything displayed perfectly. Those dolly pegs look gorgeous entwined with your pretty ribbons. Happy WOYWW xx Kim #146
ReplyDeleteLove your spools they will be so cool when you have them all done, no matter how long it takes. Marnie#148
ReplyDeleteBelieve me Julia, when you can find the exact ribbon you want at the time you want it, you will be glad you undertook the ribbon winding! BTW 20 pegs are only 70p in Wilkinsons at the moment!

Since I've never been to Britain I can't really answer your question, but since I don't see any glitter, buttons or designer paper - I'm going to have to guess - yes. :-) But you redeemed yourself with the ribbon. LOL April #151
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday-I know about the creative block when you're drudging along- but it will come back! Blame the winter-I do!
ReplyDeleteOoohhhh... That's what I do with my loose ribbons too, except I don't use dolly pegs, I use wooden clothes pin...

I'm just wondering where you will put the ribbons once they are all on the pegs? Actually, I really want to know ... won't they take up lots of room?
ReplyDeleteLate this week, but don't want to miss out :)

There is a lovely lot to do on your table. And this idea to roll the ribbons on the woodden things is very good. A work, certainly to relax.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit: I wouldn't even start rolling up all these ribbons if they were mine. I really admire you for doing this! And the idea is absolutely brilliant!
ReplyDeleteDon't drink too much coffee! ;)

Hi Julia, I tried to link yesterday but as Mr Linky had gone for a cup of tea, I had to come back today! Shame you've had to do boring account stuff, then boring ribbon-rolling! Best wishes, Deb # 161 xxx
ReplyDeleteI think I am after the last spot! HA. Ribbon rolling, I must find out what you do with the pegs after to roll all of them....I missed that, but knowing you...I doubt if you just throw them into a laundry basket! have a wonderful week,
ReplyDeletehugs. Robin.
A couple of days late, but here I am. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteWell, I think I can sympathise with you this week regarding your dolly pegs. I have started the massive project of getting all of my DMC floss onto stitchbows and into clear pockets in lever arch files. I've just filled up one file so I have to buy another. It's a carthartic process as I can only afford to spend £10 a month on this project. here must still be another hundred or so to go! Keep ging with it:) Lucy #29 x
ReplyDeleteI have most of my ribbon on those pegs, and I LOVE the ease with which I can find just the wrong color blue or green.
ReplyDeleteThe most I can get on one peg is 5 yards, so I only did the smaller spools of ribbon. It IS a mind-numbing activity, but so worth it!
