WOYWW 187 The arrrgh! edition

Happy New Year, and Morning all.  And  I know it's morning, because even though this is a scheduled post (I'm off early to tackle other things).....it's still morning.  I went to bed on Tuesday night and woke up with a start after midnight....because I'd forgotten to set this post up. Am I the only one still thinks it's Sunday?  Yep, schlep downstairs, fire up PC (because blogging from the iPad is a monumental pain in my derriere), load up the photos and compose.  In the middle of the night.  No, it's not that I'm obsessed. Much!

Not exactly a 'start as you mean to go on' pose for the New year, right?  No, I'm too old to make sweeping resolutions and comitments; I know myself too well!  At least there's evidence of some card making...I was asked to create a sketch and a sample and some instructions to contribute to a charity's website....I will of course blow that particular trumpet at some stage - meanwhile, I have at least managed to get it done.  Christmas miracle I think.  No idea why the mammoth hole punch is on my desk, but as it's been holiday week, I'm guessing it has something to do with that panic that arises with the arrival of visitors - you know the one - where there's no surface space left upon which to stand so much as a mug of tea. Usually because of un-put-away Christmas presents. So you shift stuff to another, temporary surface.  Doing a lot of that.  Figure at some stage there'll be hysteria and clearing.  You won't escape the fallout, obviously.
Meanwhile, please show us how your desks have fared over the Season of desk neglect and mojo restoration.  Leave a link here so we can come visit the post you put on your blog - please factor WOYWW into the title, and please, if you can, turn off the word verification, it's very difficult and time consuming.  Frankly, more time consuming than deleting spam!

  2. Hahaha! That hole punch mystery is one I seem to have all the time! How does something appear when you know you didn't put it there?! I'm guessing that's just one of life's mysteries like odd socks! Happy New Year Mrs D x

  3. Happy New Year, Julia! I am also up early as it's back to work day here... really don't want to go, have had long enough off to get used to being at home and lazy! Helen, 4

  4. Happy New Year to you, dear Julia! I cannot believe it - I am first on the list this week! I am still having fun with Nikki's buttons (I see Nikki is #2) - I might just have to change out the Nikki button I posted for that "special" one, lol!

But, of course, I digress. As always, love seeing what you're working on... hope you enjoy your day!

  5. Hi Julia, no, you are not the only one who has forgotten what day it is! I think it is put the decorations away kind of day today and definitely time to put the gifts away too...... Happy New Year to you, hope you got some sleep after you posted WOYWW. Hugs, Anne x #7

  6. Happy New Year miz Dunnit! You know me, I love Macs, but over the last couple of weeks, while lying prone on the sofa, I tied to comment on desks from mt iPad. OMG it was a nightmare. It doesn't help that blogger makes you click to revert to the web version of a site every time you visit and makes the mobile version the default.

    I am determined to get my desk to a usable state today. Yours is looking very reasonable, despite the hole punch, but the you DO have crop to prepare for. I am so sad to miss it but will imagine you all having fun and scrapping without me. {boo hoo}

    Happy NY

  25. Happy New Year!
And there go I. Yes, it is Sunday, has been for ages now. Didn't know that at certain times of the year they could be so repetitive. And there was I thinking it was time to do something about the memory because of my age and I find that a much younger version of me has the same problem.
Not just that but she also has the 'shift stuffs' just like what I have. How heart-warming.
I wonder if she too has the getting up problem because visitors are doing when other days she is up at unearthly hours for no reason!

  46. Hi Julia, Happy New Year!! Did ya miss me? I have absolutely no idea where we are timewise (although I did remember it was Wednesday today!!), have been off work for 11 days and ever so slightly losing the plot. Thought I would have acres of time to craft but this is first day I've had to myself really and gess what, there are loads of chores before I go to work tomorrow. bummer. Anyhow it feels good to be back.

  60. Happy first WOYWW of 2013. Your card looks very pretty -- looks like it might have felt rolled flowers on the front? Oh, yes, I'm familiar with the style of company-is-coming chaos you describe. My last resort is shifting things down cellar . . . and then it can take some time to recall where I put the so-and-so after the holidays are over! ~ Laura #79

  61. Happy New Year to you! My mass cleaning has begun, got to get back to it so that I can actually be productive and use my room!

  62. Ah, yes, how well I know the problems caused by un-put-away Christmas presents, usually belonging to my husband (in fact, he still hasn't put away some of his pressies from last year yet!) During an emergency tidy-up everything gets thrown onto the bed (and has to be found another home when I want to go to sleep) so I'm glad it's not just me...

Inside jobs of Christmas packing, and dusting!! Have a great WOYWW and a WONDERFUL NEW YEAR

  65. Hi Julia, and Happy New Year to you too. I don't do resolutions either, if I did I'd have remembered to leave a comment as soon as I linked!!! Anyway, just a tad too long in the tooth to believe that I'd stick to any resolution beyond the first 4 weeks. I reached the point of hysteria yesterday and cleared away holiday pressies, etc. The craft space looks so much more inviting now :)) Hope you've had a lovely day doing whatever prompted you to rise and work on the WOYWW post sooooo early :)) Elizabeth x #54

  66. Happy New Year! I'm not one for resolutions either - I'm totally gung ho for about a week and then life kicks back into gear and resolutions go on the back burner. Sorry to hear your sleep was disturbed - now that the holidays are over, you'll get back into the routine soon! :)

  69. Oh no! Don't tell me its hard to blog from the IPad...in a few weeks work is shutting our online access down, that will be my only way to go. Too funny about the punch; I personally feel they (or other odd items) get lonely from where they were, and walk themselve out into the open...its my only explanation! Have a great New Year!
