What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 175

So here's my real workdesk, about 4.30pm Tuesday.  It's got normal stuff on, enhanced by a large box of clear embossing powder - I was refilling a smaller tub..to be seen in front of the big yellow tape gun runner thing.  Against which is leaning a small square green notebook.  A gift from Lyn and her doodlybirds which is currently in use as yet another book of lists.  Naturally.  The gold leaf is in the bag and still in use...I'm playing about with samples for a workshop at Japonica in a couple weeks.  And that's why you're seeing my real workdesk.  Because it looks not at all bad. My other workdesk is the lounge floor where I'm tracing and cutting shapes out of paper.  It's a long story and I've no doubt at some stage, you'll read about it on a WOYWW post!  I'm trying to multi-surface multi-task and I'm not sure its a good idea. I think it just causes me to panic because everywhere seems untidy!  Ah well.
SO share your space, creative, working and tidy or not, we love to have a nose  browse around your spaces.  Please put WOYWW in your post title, link here and we'll come round and enjoy.  Thank you.  For your invitation and hospitality.

  1. Yikes, I grabbed No1 again! We need Sarah back to dethrone me. Big tubs and small tubs of EP, that's fancy. As is the gold leaf, although it makes me shiver as all I can think about is the time my brother gave me a piece of tin foil when I was a kid and said "Chew on that, it's fun!!" Have a brilliant time at the weekend crop, sad I can't be there, but one day. I'm multi room tasking right now too and having a blast!!

  2. Like the artistic angle this week, and a busy desk. Nothing like working on the living room floor,I say!! See you Saturday.

  3. Well I think that looks right tidy. I am loving that pale green in the middle of your desk. It looks very painterly. Love that I can pinch out to get a slightly, if blurry look on my iPad :)

    Happy WOYWW this early AM

  7. Hi Julia!! Your space does look very tidy!! I guess the lounge floor is not tidy, but you are getting business done!! I wish I could join one of your workshops!!
I didn't post my work desk, I hope you don't kick me out!! I haven't been near my space since last WOYWW because my oldest turned 16 this weekend!! I put a pic of us up instead. I didn't want to miss the party though!
    Have a happy WOYWW!!

  8. Sorry no pics of desk itself this week...just a picture of my fave new thing on it. DD took the picture and lifted it off the desk to beat the glare! Figures!

Hopefully, by next week I can show my true colours!

  9. You've entered dangerous territory there Julia...the floor doesn't have any edges for things to fall off...you can just keep spreading and spreading!!! ;D

  12. Hi Julia, I thought that I was the only one to spread out over the whole apartment. I have stuff on the dining room table to put together and cutter and paper on the coffee table in the living room and my desk is covered with another cutter and more paper. I have got to clean up. #9

  14. I now the feeling of multi-surfaces, right now if you look at my craft room (new house) it is not craftable. so glad you showcased your IPAD, I was thinking it was a figment of our imagination.

  15. Wow Julia very interesting desk this week. I hope your lounge floor has carpet? Ours is tiled 'cause it's cooler in these sub tropical climes so would be too hard to work on the floor here!
    Have a great woyww week.

  16. sounds like you have a lot going on there. I find the spaces you create to use as your work desk only become larger and more of them. So tidying up is a nightmare.

  22. Plenty of goodies on your desk this week. I could have a great time with that gold leaf. I spend most of my life on the floor and my art has spread to just about every room in the house, so don't worry about it, enjoy.
Have a great week, it's good to be back.

  23. I'm sneaking here. I love the samples you've got showing there for your future workshop! And that bag of gold leaf looks like a sandwich - leave it to me, everything looks like food, and I'm way too old to blame it on PMS!!

Thanks, as ever, and have a wonderful week! Darnell #19

  26. I hear you about untidy..I hate it, trying to be patient, but can only do what the day requires. If I started working on floor space, I'd never get up, but as you'll see my floor space is even impassable.

  27. Well your desk looks quite neat and tidy to me...using the floor to work on? Of course LOL Right now I can't get down there but my floor is currently employed as storage or waiting to be stored area! Can't wait to get snooping around! Hugs,

    ReplyDelete
  28. I still don't think that the desk is such a mess. Looks very creative today with the projects in the works. Look forward to seeing them finished. I don't use the floor cause it is too hard getting up and down now days...DH says it is advanced age! I'll advance age him cause he is closer to 70ish! Hope you have a great week Vickie #41

  29. The floor is very useful for working on (or even storage) but it can be dangerous, providing more obstacles for tripping on. (Ask me how I know!)
What are you doing with the gold leaf!

  30. I am finding my multi room crafting a bit disconcerting too. Messes everywhere! LOL. Sounds like you might need to get you a cutting machine Julia!

  42. Ignore everyone else, the only time you need to worry is when you find you've worked your way out of the lounge and down the hall. Then it's just a decision as to whether you continue up the stairs or out of the front door and down the garden path. If you take the latter route - just make sure you have nice bloomers on, simples!

See you on Saturday :)) Di xx

  44. Howdy Julia,

Your desk looks very productive this week. You're brave to work on the floor too. I'd just step on projects and stumble over stuff - there's so much stuff crammed into my studio.

But this week my table is tidy!

Would love for you to stop by my blog when you have a moment or 2.

  57. Since I've been joining in with WOYWW I have noticed that we all have one thing in common and it's not that we are crafters, it's that it doesn't matter how big our craft spaces are, we all end up working in a space of about 2 feet square (if we're lucky) lol Have a great day whatever you are up to. x

  73. Jeebers, it's take for ever for me to get this post posted today!

I usually take over every surface in my house too. On Saturday my husband made a rather 'amusing' observation about my endeavours.
He said I spend far too much time fiddling about with things and then trying to sell them without knowing my profit margins. Then around comes 7pm and we can't even eat at the table because it is covered in stuff! He was drunk so I decided not to enter into THAT discussion but boy is he going to pay for it slowly and painfully over the next few weeks!

  98. Hi Julia! Another nice day shot. I'm enjoying the snip of sky out your window. Once, in a magazine, I saw a photo of a well known artist working in papier mache who douses her creations in glitter. She had hers in old round tin biscuit tins. Large biscuit tins. Old. With beautiful vintage(original) biscuit tins. She'd just hold whatever she was coating over top of the tin, scoop, pour, scoop, pour, and shake, shake, shake. Then put the lid on. I have never forgotten this visual. Plastic is good though. I have stuff like that stored in plastic. I like your clear embossing powder storage. So, Julia, have a nice day. Multi-workspaces are a sign of a creative genius at work. *hugs* Norma

  100. I love messy work desks. Mine isn't messy on account of a major cleaning I underwent over the weekend. :P

Have you ever discovered some gorgeous combination from clutter ... things that are haphazardly thrown together, mainly just to get them out of the way, then your eye gets caught by how well things go together? That's happened to me several times.

  109. ooooh - I wish I had that much embossing powder that I needed 2 tubs for it... I have for my glitter - or rather, its called my 'glitter station'!!!

Yep, it's bad when you start multi-surfacing, because it becomes a chore to clear it all up again. I usually creep left towards the kitchen table... in fact there are two large boxes on there now waiting to be picked up by Ideal World!!!

I'm late this week - not feeling great yesterday, problems with arms hands and wrists...

Will be posting some time today...
