What's Your Favourite Colour?

Edit: Godbrothers are the children of her Godparents...worked out all be herself!

Without and beyond a shadow of a doubt, my favourite colour is yellow.  Not too citrussy, but sort of custard and brighter.  I know, my powers of description are wanting.  But note that without even thinking,  I've used food to illustrate my preferred colour.  That probably says more about me than the actual favoured colour! On the basis that Mr Dunnit just wants to get on with his life, he didn't argue over my choice of a pale yellow for my workroom walls, or indeed a deep and warm yellow for our lounge room.  No really, it worked.  Still like it.  Nor does he try to change my mind when being a romantic...yellow roses and gerbera do it perfectly, thank you!  I don't wear it....gah, it makes me look very poorly and frankly, it's too late for real yellow...it  strikes me as too young.  And the sophisticated autumnal shades like mustard, well as I say, they make me look terrible.  I don't tend to choose yellows for crafting.  It's a difficult colour to take seriously (one of the reasons I love it) and so doesn't always belong in my oh so artistic repertoire in large amounts.  That's not to say that every card or page I make is of a serious nature, not at all.  But in crafting, I tend to move towards golds and ochres and dare I say it - TH's seven shades of wee wee.
It's a cheerful and irresistible colour for me, speaking of summer and daisies and lollipops and things that are fun.  The LO above is the only one in my entire collection that features yellow in such quantity.  And it didn't start with the yellow coat either, oddly enough.  Although as a small digression - I was a bit pleased when it turned out that my daughter actually suits the colour...not least because it makes her easy to spot in a crowd and any mother of any aged child will tell you how important that is!  I bought the little laser-die-cut wooden figures (from Sarah's Cards, if you're interested).  And whilst visiting a friend in Basingstoke, I happened to find the paper in Hobbycraft.  Believe it or not, it's the reverse of a sheet of very plain something or other.  Well, at the time, I didn't have the wooden figures, but I do have a die that cuts teeny figures just like those on the paper.  So I bought it.  Great justification.  And then, while preparing for crop last month, with stuff all over the floor, the photo presented itself..the paper stack was flipped through and this was found.. I realised I could use three of the little wooden figures too.  Perfect for the picture that is two years old and that I thought was headed for the 'ones I didn't scrap' album.  Amazing huh, two purchases, within weeks of each other and for nothing specific have come together and been used.  Shock and delight!
I think it's extremely fair to say that yellow is a lucky colour too.  Don't please, try to tell me I'm wrong...I'm too old to choose another favourite colour.

  2. I see why you love yellow. The color of sunshine! And you have used it so well with this layout! Lovely picture and like the Yorkshire Fox, I'm wondering if they will be future God Fathers!

  3. Beautiful page!

When I was a full time gardener working in full sun all day, I eschewed yellow flowers because they hurt my eyes in the bright sun. Now I find myself loving to work with yellows, even flowers :D. And I'm addicted to ochre when crafting. I think I have about 10 bottles of paint (I really need to make myself a swatch card).

But my favorite color is red, and I don't think I've ever used it as a full page.

  4. Hi Julia, Personally, I'm a blues gal, but in Crafting I love yellows, blues & brown shades. As the others have said, yellow is such a happy colour and you are certainly a happy person. Hugs Rita xxx

  5. My best friend loves yellow, like you she doesn't wear it but did make me wear soft lemon-y yellow when I was her bridesmaid! To be fair it was pretty and a flattering shade so it was ok! Me, I'm a blue girl, always have been, true blues, navy, turquoise, bold blues really, don't go too much for pastel tones though. Great page btw love what you've done with it. Very cheerful. Zo xx

  6. Love it, most crafters seem to shy away from yellow but it's such a happy warm colour... it's definately under-used.

  7. I'm a pillar box red girl but would hardly wear it either....except on my face during a tantrum. As a teenager I choose this deep sunshine yellow for my bedroom, but my mum found it too garish and swapped the paint for pastel lemon...I am forever scarred and it could explain the grungy obsession. I think your yellow is a really fab colour and I can see it in on the walls of my next open plan, bring the outside in blah blah blah kitchen diner lounge! BTW - custard is just dandy and sounds way tastier the 7 shades of ...

  8. It is such a happy colour too.... perhaps you should email Tim and ask for a warm custard colour... although personally I hate warm custard and can only eat it cold.... Love the paper on your LO and the matching figures. (Have you seen his new colours launched yesterday? not a shade of weewee among them!)

  10. Isn't it both funny and odd, in equal measures, how we have different favourites in colour, and also different "lucky" colours. My personal faves are blues/purples/teals, but I don't have a lucky colour per se. Livvy has a mustard coloured top that suits her brunette tones nicely, thank you very much, but every time I handle it I shudder to my core. And for my mother, yellow is her unlucky colour, green her lucky one, whereas David flatly refuses to drive anything green. Good job he was in the navy and not the army then...LOL

Fab layout though - sometimes these things just present themselves as a fait accompli...

  11. Oh Julia, I wish all the bits I buy would go together.......love your layout, love yellow too but for crafting. Yellow to me is warm and sunny and happy! Sounds a bit like you! I love red best, but Tim's new summer colours are to die for so one of them may become my new favourite....Anne x

  12. I love yellow - it used to be my all time favourite colour when I was little and I still have my Funshine Care Bear :D Now of course I'm more of a purple/black kinda girl but still have a sneaking fondness for yellow :)

Loving this page and the lucky way it came about!

  13. When it comes to decorating yellow does it for me nicely...our kitchen is a lovely custard yellow :-)
But for clothes, crafting etc then it's got to be in the pink, lilac, blue side of the spectrum for me but I do choose to work out of my comfort zone from time to time but not always successfully :-)
    Hugs,
    A x

  15. Ahhhh yellow, I'm soooooo happy that another loves yellow. I too look a bit ghostly wearing yellow (ok, yellow pulls the color right out of me) I have yellow trim in my kitchen, a yellow tint to my living room and lots of yellow paper. So....you can only imagine how much I am enjoying your page. You do yellow well! Have a most yellow day!

  21. I'm getting on with yellow in my art a lot more than I used to, enjoying the effect it has on other colours especially. And if yellow is your lucky colour, then that's all that matters. You try being me: black is my lucky colour!

    cheers,

  22. Love the LO.

Yellow is not a colour I think of when crafting. It might be used as an accent but never a colour in its own right which is a shame because it is so bright and cheery.

TH 7 shades of wee wee...I didn't have them all but I do now that I have the markers LOL

  27. Oh Julia, you must come over! I have three shades of yellow in my home! In the living room there are two shades and in my bedroom. As a child my room was bright yellow and yes, I even talked my parents into yellow carpet!! Keep in mind this was the 70s so it was shag! holy moly.

The page looks wonderful by the way.

    Hugs,
    Kay
