What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 158

EDIT: Sorry about the early lack of linky,,,it WAS there, and then it wasn't!

Finally by staying up late and being uncharacteristically cross with the state of 'being behind', I've managed to reclaim my desk and drop onto it a couple things that I want/need to do in terms of craft. You see a new punch and a small stamp in a packet - a prize what I won!  Colour me chuffed!  And bunting and harlequin stamps (from The Artistic Stamper). I have a couple birthday cards to make and bunting is just not going to go out of style for me! Still got Tracey's oval dies, see? And the plastic bag has some bits and pieces in that Miss Dunnit bought for me..you know, emery board, lip balm, blah blah.  So how did I achieve this state of readiness?
Yep, swing left and push back basically!  The office work has gone to the dining table because I need my craft space back, whine whine, and the craft papers that need sorting and organising have been ignored into a great big pile.  I'll tackle it, soon.  Let's not talk about tackling the jar of ribbons. Ever again. Argh.
So what are you tackling this week? Got time to show us?  Upload a pic to your blog..please.  Put WOYWW in the title and link to that post here.  Visit a few of the links...you'll be amazed, inspired, delighted, relieved.  Yep, we're ALL human!  See ya.

  8. Shove it all around and aside as much you want to and enjoy creating... your table awaits! Bunting can't EVER go out of fashion if your British either and the ribbons are at least staying put with that pile on top so no worries. Sorted!

I was so happy to see you posting early again, but it's not to be by the time I link up tomorrow, lol! Never mind, it's the thought that matters, right!!

  16. Love the new angle on the desk, Julia, and I love those new border stamps! Really cool.

Lovely to see you posting in the small hours again - suits me much better - but disappointing that there's no Mr. Linky, which means I shall be way down the list again by the time I get to it to check whether Mr. L. is there in the morning! My WOYWW blog post is uploaded, though, if anyone wants to visit.

Also, I am up for swapping ATCs with anyone who wants to - I'm really sorry to have missed the official swap, especially when I see the quality of the ATCs which have been flying back and forth!

  52. Just wondering - many of the hotlinked names here go to a Gravatar page rather than the blog address. Is that an automatic thing with the new "improved" blogger? When Mr Linky goes on holiday it's really hard to use the list to visit if the link doesn't go to the blog. I get this too with comments sometimes, the linked Site info isn't the blog, just the profile page :( Or is it a conscious choice by people to link to something other than the actual blog address? and if so WHY?

    :)

    Just askin'....

  53. Hello there...did you clean Mr linky off your desk while you swept everything to one side or hide him under the jar of ribbons? No matter, cos us WOYWWers carry on regardless. Love that about this community! Here is my blog link: http://bellasscrappinspace.blogspot.com/

    ReplyDelete
  54. Well, that's irony for you. I thought I was pulling a fast one by linking up on Tuesday night here in California, but it didn't work out! It's 11 p.m. and I'm off to bed. I'll be back tomorrow!

I just love the stack of unsorted papers. I guess we've nearly all got one of those.

  64. Aah, Mr Linky was missing!! That explains why I am nearer the beginning than usual!! Blogger is playing me up today as well - for some reason my page displays a strange band across the top effectively covering all my navigation buttons. Had to think real hard (it's early for me) to discover how to log in another way. Love bunting, in fact going to put up even more at work today, and although I lpve ribbon too, ribbon storage is the bane of my life. Blooming stuff gets everywhere.

    Happy WOYWW!!

Feel like I'm missing out there. My idea of being organised and laying out the toppers I need is backfiring on me this morning the sun is now streaming in a reflecting of the foiling on the toppers, almost blinding me as I type! 73. My first visit to WOYWW. Came here from Marie Rayner's blog, Designs from the Heart, where she had posted a link. When I saw the photo of your desk, I chuckled. I got up at 2:00 a.m. this morning thinking i needed to go down to my drawing room and purge it completely because it has become a sort of storage room instead of a workroom. And I want my workroom back! All that clutter has stopped me and blocked me! I can't think of what I want to do because of the disorder. So your posting has given me an idea. I'll post what I'm doing and link to your page. Maybe it will help me find my muse once more. Thanks!

  105. Paper scraps breed! I mean it I spend more time sorting bits of paper that I don't even recognize, those solids get in there with those prints and the next thing you know there are dots and strips that you don't know! I bet ribbon does the same thing and that's why we can't ever get it under control!!!

    ReplyDelete
  106. Well, when you see my desk you will know EXACTLY what I will be tackling later this week! LOL! Yours looks great! Loving those stamps!

  107. Hi Julia!
Your space looks positively clean!! Sometimes we all have to make that pile that we will get to later, to make space to craft again!! And if you are anything like me, you won't ever get to that pile until you need something from it!! LOL

  116. I like your crafty little space. So many goodies all around! Thank you for having such a fun blog!

  117. I like your system! Sadly it wouldn't work on my kitchen table, we'd never eat again!

  118. Hello!

Love your photos! Your system is uniquely Julia! You do what you have to do, right! Thank you again for starting this lovely Wednesday share - so much fun! Wishing you a happy day and some time at your orderly workdesk to create!

    Hugs,

  119. Congrats on your prize!
I know I am always completely shocked when I win something :)

    Love those stamps I see.
And I have to say, I tend to do that as well. Move piles around. In fact I have a closet full of those piles that really needs cleaning out :)

  120. Thank you so much for visiting my blog and leaving such a wonderful comment! I am honored! I'm thinking I'm comfortable enough to post a more "realistic" photo of my craft room! I'm not as neat as it appears!

  121. Lucky you, winning a prize ( I never win anything so I am deeply jealous)!

Glad you reclaimed your craft space - some things just have to be done.

  122. I'm notorious for piling things in another area (to be gotten to later) so I'll have room on my desk to work. Yours looks very tidy. And I love the bunting stamps!

  123. Just wanted to say 'Hi'. I'm joining you for the first time this week. Looking forward to having a look around very soon :)

  124. Push and shove cleaning ... my favorite kind! ;)

  125. I'm late this week Julia, I hope I don't get forgotten right at the end! There is just never enough hours in the day is there?! That's not just ribbon in that there jar is there? I have a box which ends up with a name on it i.e. "ribbon box", but if I'm having a whirlwind of inspiration everything on my work desk just gets side swiped into the "ribbon box" and I deal with it later! I have many "ribbon boxes"! Michelle xx

  126. Of course you need your craft space, who doesn't????!!??

Well what do you know, I made it on time this week--at least here in the States!

Tackling another hand bound book, this one with monoprint pages!

    :)

  127. I learned the "push back method" from you! HA! Works quite efficiently!
    Good to see you back!
    hugs!

  128. A different view and very neat too.I have nowhere to push back to.LOL
    Happy Wednesday

  129. The pile up and push to the side method--always a fan favorite! I personally like the pile on the floor method too. Using the floor does also encourage me to pick it up again because one cannot trust those evil cats (is that redundant? does not everyone know that all cats are evil?) Fun bunting stamps and a new punch to play with.

  130. Save sorting out until the housework is done, ironing all done and put away, house cleaned top to bottom, wallpapering done, dog washed and the pigs are a-flying!!!
I hope Tracey gets her dies back!! LOL! Thank you once again for sponsoring me Honey. It was a lovely surprise and worthwhile cause! xxx

  131. I was almost ready to push everything in my desk, but believe it or not, I manage to clean up... a little. ;)

    Thank you for another WOYWW!
    have a great day!

  132. Happy woyww. Hope everything is ok in Turkey now.I see you have the same stacking style that I use myself. have a crafty week. mark x

  133. Very tidy....real work does not belong in crafty spaces; it does nasty things to the mojo fairy, bullies the Muse, an is generally a bad seed. So good for you for reclaiming your space!

  134. By coincidence I sorted out a stack of craft papers and scraps last night, now have them cut into sizes suitable for mounting photos on, covering the front of cards, 12" strips for scrapbooking and then smaller bits for punches and tags etc. However, the ongoing saga of the ribbon storage, well I'm with you on that one, they are all still in a tin which I sorted out a while ago, but all those odd bits (you know, the ones cut from clothes and labels etc, well how do you organise them?!) Thanks for sharing, glad you got your craft space back. Marie

  136. I love seeing folk tidy up by moving stuff to somewhere else LOL my problem is I'm running out of places to move stuff to.

  140. Hee hee, I thought to myself "WOW Julia's desk looks very organized today!!" And then I saw the picture of the teetering pile of papers atop the ribbon jar and realized there was a price to pay for that organized look. Always interesting anyways!

  142. Well, you know when the overflow goes to the dining table, it's definitely time to sort something. I feel your pain--my "studio" is a corner of the master bedroom, and I keep things in pretty boxes and those plastic scrapbook containers--but heaven forbid I have multiple projects going and things get out of place...then it's hello dining table! Happy WOYWW! Sandy #170 (I think--I'm way down this time! But happy to be here!)

  143. This is my first time linking. Hopefully now I've started you will see more of me!!

    ReplyDelete
  144. Haha! I had to have a "real" clean-up earlier this week myself, the push and sweep method would have left everything in the floor and no room for me to walk! lol
Maybe I'll get up to some more fun before the day is over and update my blog with some new *creative* pictures! :) I love your stamp set from artistic stamper...I'm going to try to see if I can make my own pennant stamp set this evening...its getting too expensive to keep buying these things! :)

  145. Oooh Julia I'm thrilled you want to swap ATCs with me! An ATC from our own lovely Julia, Queen of the WOYWW realm!! I'll email you my address. Thanks for adding me to Mr. Linky. I am at No. 15, but I see I am still at No. 73 as well, from when I joined without realising you'd already linked me. If you could remove the No. 73 link it might save people getting confused!

Yes, Cindy's card is amazing, isn't it. I am so thrilled with it, and the little bag of goodies she sent me!! Glad you like my coloured zentangles, too. I'm having a lot of fun with them.

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  146. Congratulations on winning some crafty stuff! Love those banner stamps. As something on an expert on stacking, I must complement you on putting the pile on the ribbon jar, high enough so it shouldn't be casually brushed off, solid foundation, etc. :D. Happy WOYWW! #111

  147. I'm late...but here ....and just to show you my ATC really..... because there is not much 'cept boxes on and around my desk....

    ReplyDelete
  148. I think your should totally time yourself when you start to tackle your jar of ribbons to see how long it takes you to get them sorted...hours...days...weeks?!?! Hahaha!!

Thanks for taking a peek at my spot! Happy WOYWW! (on Thursday! Or is it even Friday for you by now??)

  149. I just received my WOYWW button and anniversary ATC and they are both brilliant! To put it British-ly. ;)
This is my first ever received ATC and now I understand why they sell ATC display thingies...its absolutely display-worthy! :) Thank you dear Julia for being such a gracious and generous hostess week after week...
    cheers,

  152. WOO, Julia... I am SOOOO honoured that you came back!!! Is it unheard of that you post a reply TWICE on one WOYWW??? Anyway, thanks for your 1) encouraging and very supportive comments each time and 2) your specific comment about my hanging and my work in general... I am thrilled because I value your opinion. I just wonder why I don't make places on DTs when I can such good stuff (big headed too!!!) Anyway. Thanks a bunch again
