What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 154

Susnhine in between big blobs of showers late on Tuesday afternoon.  And not a lot of progress as you can see.  I honestly haven't been at my desk for more than about 10 minutes in the last week.  The ipad is in position because as I type I'm listening to something.  In front of that there's a small pile of ATC blanks...yep, I'm officially getting my act together. The emery board suggests that I might at least have indulged in some personal grooming - not so.  I have no idea why or by whom it was flung on my desk.  Typical, though! So at the risk of boring your pants off, that's it really.  Here's a couple of links that may be of interest:
ATCs and the WOYWW Anniversary swap: an infopost to enlighten/frighten
A 'review' of the yellow tape gun that I now wouldn't be without: the tape gun thingy

Now it's your turn. Photo your workspace, show us what your creative juices are driving you to do this week.  Post on your blog, with WOYWW in the title.  Link here.  I thank you.  In fact, loads of us thank you!

  1. Now see Julia, I saw that emery board and I thought you might just be filing away the rough edges of some die cuts in preparation for the ATC swap - lol!

I have emery boards for both you know! (The ones with the pretty kittens and scenes are for my nails - that's how I tell them apart!)

    Happy WOYWW to ya!

#2 on the list this week

  2. I'm so sorry I missed last week. I hope that sunshine comes back in full force today AND you get some time to actually make a few things this week (art wise)!

  4. Well it looks like you have been busy even if you have not! Interesting pile of ATC's - I have been at it too (making ATC's) and I am finding it quite addictive. Happy WOYWW to you this lovely sunny morning (not true, it is raining). Anne x #7

  5. The only compensation for bright, early sunshine and a daughter who rises as soon as the first peep of light creeps in around the curtain edges, is being awake when WOYWW goes live.

Like you, I love my gun, but I still have loads of sticky squares to use up. Maybe once they are one I'll commit to it fully.

Have a great day ! Must now rise and make oatmeal. Meh.

  6. Oh yes, I too thought you might use the nail file to "distress" something, (other than fingernails)! Many thanks for the link to the yellow gun thingy. I've often wondered about it and would have liked more details, but I just thought everybody must have instinctively known all about them!

  7. Loving the sunshine, if that's what you call it!! My great grandaddy once told me of this strange orb in the sky that was bright and shiny and made the world hot and happy!!! Never seen it myself... tee hee.. the old desk does look a bit forlorn, lady. hope you get a bit done this next week, if that's what you want.

  8. I haven't been at my desk much this week either, I've been standing in front of an easel all week. At least I was getting some art done. The sun looks lovely streaming through your window, hope the rain goes away. It is 2.30pm on wednesday afternoon and the sun is shining but outside is cold, autumn is in full swing, lucky you are in spring.
Have a great week and I hope you get to some art.

  9. Personal grooming? Nah, files are for distressing your paper crafts, perhaps for your ATC? waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)

  10. Love how the sun is falling on your desk. Getting 4 seasons in one day up here... Hoping time and inspiration will allow you some desk time. I need to use my pink ATG more - and not worry about reloading the not so cheap refills! Have a good week. sarah (at 14)

  11. Sunny here too, Julia. Love it, but it does make me feel more guilty for not riding my pony/running/cleaning car/mowing lawns etc, etc. My health is particularly rubbish at the moment, but at least I can get in my craft room or spend time in front of the tv! Will look at the details for the yellow gun - something I am interested in. Ali x #17 ps Can you send me your address, so I can post an ATC to you when the time is right.

  13. Sunny here in Melbourne Australia too, with showers here and there. I understand how your desk can be abandoned for awhile as mine is in that stage too. Emery boards are useful on the art desk and they can be used to sand the side of atc's or card edges. LOL

    Happy crafting this week.

  14. Must be getting better weather...we are seeing sunshine! Well my tape thingy is red,but I so love it too! Always couponing the refills at Michaels when I can.
I think I need to get my "ATC" together soon! See you soon!

  15. well i tend to use emery boards for distressing jigsaw pieces rather than nails so maybe that was your intention.....lol.
Up way to early today but shall at least get around a few more blogs now, have a good day.

  16. I cheated. I put my blog on early. It is only 11:03 here in Canada...the night before..but, you guys are already morning there...sigh... anyway...the reason is...I will be golfing in the morning and no time to do any blogging before I stagger out to the course....hope I do better than I did tonight..... please let me whack that darn ball as far as possible tomorrow..oh, and...straight please...that's crucial.

come by and see part of the reveal..... Olaf isn't around.

  19. The sun looks lovely falling on your desk, somehow I really like those piles of papers even though it's hard to see what they are, they look intriguing. Those emmery board are great for sanding edges, I can see loads of possibilities with that. Maybe a kind fairy left it there for you.

Happy hopping,#25 (can you believe it and it's only 11 min. past 6am....

I am waiting not to patiently for my own yellow tape gun to arrive.
After seeing how useful everybody says they are I thought I better invest in one.
Have a lovely week with all your ATC creating. Looking forward to see them and will be doing some myself.

He's not that bothered with all that stuff as long as the creative work gets done.
Your workspace looks as if it's raring to go whenever you're ready.
    Lots of fun ahead ;D

  32. Love the shaft of sunlight across your desk yesterday - it is a lovely day here today for a change... I haven't taken to using emery boards for my art yet but if it's on your desk, it must be art related right, so whoever left it there has forfeited it... Have a great day. 4 today!

  42. I'm just amazed you can type and listen to something at the same time! I can only listen to music (or podcasts) when I'm doing something that requires little to no thinking. For instance: gessoing okay, working out the composition of a piece not okay. ;-) Hope you get some more desk time soon!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Of course the flipping sun is shining - we're having a short break away in search of it, so naturally it would shine at home! My work desk is horribly lazy-looking this week, I forgot to take a photo of the mayhem at home :(

Happy, happy WOYWW Julia, and a hug to LLJ when you see her. Di xx

  44. Good morning, the swaps getting closer, I must dig out my ATC blanks as time has a habit of creeping up on me. Thanks for the review of the ATG. I struggle to mount my work straight so I'm not sure if its for me, I'll have to have a go on one first. Your comment about my 'Scary Stamps' last week made me giggle x

  50. Just like Joy, I thought you had been using the board on your creations...a bit of distressing or sanding of embossed bits.

The sun has been lovely on the odd occasion that it's been out but we are getting far more wet than shine. Will we ever get a Summer or was last weekend it?

    Hohum...soon be Christmas LOL

It's getting pretty darn dry out there. Not good for gardening! I find the odd thing upon my desk once in awhile. I have no one to blame but myself though. *grins* Warmly, Tracy

  114. Lovely sunshine shining in! I'm pro-sun, so I'd make a lousy vampire. That, and who'd want to put their mouth on other people? ick. Anyway, I thought it was Tuesday so no desk photo for me yet. Maybe I'll zap one up when I get home (which will be Thursday or Friday in your time zone) ;-) I promise to kick myself in the head if I forget next week when the big shindig is.

  115. It's good to see some sunshine coming through that window for a change. I hope it is still shining when I arrive tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath. I thought the emery board was there for crafting purposes too.
have a good week. Kate x

  116. Hello? Hello? Did Blogger eat my comment? Am I being picked on?

  117. I've used an emery board for distressing before now, but I probably shouldn't mention that!

  118. The thought that the emery board might actually be for your nails never even entered my head! Glad you got a bit of sunshine, we had a tiny bit too, soon followed by a snow flurry and hailstone!! Marie #74

  120. Lovely to see a bit of sunshine. Your desk looks lovely and tidy, I wish mine did!
Thanks for the badge - it arrived last week - I've already slapped my wrist for not thanking you sooner :/ the moustache tape made me chuckle on a gloomy day, so thanks for that also!

  123. This is my first time joining the WOYWW.
I love the bright sunny window in front of your desk. I am in a small room in the basement....no windows :(

  124. Ah yes, obviously you were not working at your desk when this picture was taken because I can see your 50 pairs of scissors are put away at the back and not strewn about your desk, lol!
Hope you had a Happy WOYWW this week!

  126. I'm on a break from art at the moment. Well, it's that or start screaming! And keep that emery board; it's great for sanding edges of intricate die cuts that you've just covered in paper! Much easier than scissors.

    have fun,

  128. Not sure if it was a retoriacl question or not but on topic of the cleanliness of my cutting mat - I just give it a once over with the baby wipe or kitchen towel as I go. I use a craft sheet for inking and slide this under my cutting mat when not in use (you can just see it in the first photo). I have turned round and turned over the cutting mat as it gets scored (not sure this self healing is complete iyswim). And I did scrape off the PVA the other day with an old Tesco Club card!! Just generally tidy - that's me! BJ#52 with the clean cutting mat - LOL

  135. Am I late? Ok, I know it isn't Wednesday anymore, but this week jumped by and I missed almost 2 days....Too much dust in my head from all the house work I've done this week. Well, I' headed to my room to tidy up a tad....until next week....have a great week and I've got my thinking cap on for the ATC challenge. It should be interesting...since I've not made very many of them. I do look forward to it though....Later!

  137. Hi Julia, just popping back to answer your question about the "red handled tool" on my desk :o) thank god it's not a GP instrument!! it's a Sizzix Paddle punch.... I bought a set quite a few years ago thinking they would be handy as you can punch anywhere on the page but I've hardly used them, it just so happens the circle punch was the exact size of the little holes I needed to cut for the front of the advent calendar drawers, you use the punch with the little hammer that is peeking in at the right of my desk x

I have not done any of the ATC's as of yet.... I may have to look into this a bit first before I decide!

  140. Glad you like the card, Julia - thanks for commenting! My hubby loves it, and has gone off to a metal detecting club today, and said he was going to show it to them all!! The fussy cutting was a bit of a chore but I was pleased with the result, so it was worth it!

  141. oops - another week i've missed you all... I'm struggling at the moment and can only (it seems) do one thing at a time and have loads of milestone birthdays i've done projects for (3 in one week), a new baby, 2 wedding anniversaries, 2 more birthdays - and all but two of these have been for my friends family... phew - i'm still at it and then i have to finish off a wedding stationery order by Friday and there's more - but I will follow up on that as and when I can.

I hope you are ok and I really do intend to join in with the birthday celebrations.

    big hugs
