What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 151

Is there any one can help with why my scheduled posts suddenly don't post?  It says BST in scheduling time zone, but there's no BST listed in format time zones.....and using GMT plus one doesn't work.....any ideas?
It's not getting any better, huh!
Button jar, by some miracle is closed.  So instead, the lid isn't on the gesso.  Actually, this is on purpose...Elizabeth suggests that allowing some of the water in the mix to evaporate will make the gesso more opaque.  She's right.  I'm being uncharacteristically patient about it too. Because it allows genuine procrastination!  You can just see my glasses, not safely stowed; my open glasses case is currently home to an ink pad.  Does it make ya wince?  Does it, does it? The red basket contains stamps, die cuts and other schtuff for a workshop on Thursday morning.  There's the plastic ziplock envelope containing a set of keys that have been bubble wrapped for postal purposes.  It looks a lot more interesting than the reality, huh.  Of course there's the finished ink cartridge from the printer - I could have sworn I had a recycling envelope....somewhere.  There's my phone and a can of fizz....it's staged to add to the casual ambience I'm aiming for in this photo.  The best thing about my desk on Tuesday afternoon.....SUNSHINE.  Can't argue with that, huh!  One last thing..THIS POST talks about WOYWWer Sarah's Mum who has had a nasty accident....if you'd like to send her a get well card, Sarah thinks she'd love it - check the post for details please!

So Week 156 will be the third anniversary of WOYWW and we're going to do a one on one on one on one ATC swap.  For ATC explanation and swap details, read the previous post.  CLICK THIS  it will take you there without the need to scroll.... I know how busy you are.  If you read it yesterday, please re-read it...there was a typo and wouldn't you just know it...it was an IMPORTANT detail type mistake....only the size of the ATC!!

So meantime, please show us your desk.  Frankly, if I can show mine, you've no excuse.
Post to your blog, PLEASE put WOYWW in the title. Then,  link here and visit others to your heART's content.  If you comment anywhere, please add your Link list number to your comment..makes visiting you a lot easier.

  1. Hi Julia. I do love your desk - always so much going on. I've been a very part-time WOYTWDer this year as my supposedly part-time job has taken up all my time - especially on tuesday and Wednesday. But, since I was up at 6am this mornign, and have actually been doing some crafting, I thought I'd join in today.

  2. Variety is the spice of life and I'd say your desk has variety!! It's funny how no matter how much is there we each know exactly what is there.Until we move it.
Thanks for sharing and Happy WOYWW, enjoy the week

  5. Happy WOYWW to you! I love your info post on the ATCs. I love how you give us so much advance notice. I love how so many of us will be scratching our heads at the last minute anyway (I'm already feeling cunfuddled by the weeks...lol!)

My cats would SO enjoy a romp in your room! Of course they might need their stomachs pumped afterwards! Happy crafting from #14 on the list!

  6. I must have gotten here late because the size of the ATC was right when I read it. That's why I couldn't figure out what someone was talking about. Now I see I missed all the hubabaloo.

Last year I didn't read the anniversary post clearly, and ended up having my piece ready, EXCEPT for not adding the letters WOYWW. Had to unseal it and add the letters before I mailed it out. I don't see that criterion this year. And yes, I've read it twice (grin).

  7. Desk looks busy, and creative, unlike mine as per usual!! and I do wish I could count as I thought it was next week for the ATC's and I didn't notice the mistake of the size, speed reading and I never read properly! doh!
    Have a great day

  9. You should be using GMT+0000 London. I believe you are in England somewhere. +1 are the European countries. Not sure where BST is or how you have it, I can only see GMT time. LOL I have no idea what your ATC error was, I guess I have a bad memory. I am playing yippee

  11. Are you sure your blog time is right? I've had mine go off sync for various reasons (like testing a new theme) You need to consider both the time you chose as your official blog time and the time of your post. Also does blogger have Am and Pm settings, or do you have to do 00:00:01 for say 1 second past midnight?

    Those are my best guesses:)

    Have a good one.

  14. Hi Julia, the time thing must be an issue at the moment. My blog comments never show the real time but in all my settings it does.
Ive been using my bookstand for my IPad and its been great, so thanks for that tip.
    Enjoy your week

  15. Well, if we'd have all ended up with an Artist trading canvas - that would be just fine too. I hoping leaving the top off my bank account will also make it more opaque. No idea why your posts aren't showing...are you in the new Blogger template? Maybe have a mooch on Blogger help where the staff say nowt but the nerds have really good advice. Have a creative week and happy WOYWWing... Sarah at 12!

    PS I want your handwriting....

  16. Oh no, so it didn't work again then? I wonder what happened between two and three weeks ago cos up til then, you had no problem....

  17. sorry, can't help with the blogger scheduled posts. i hope someone else can.

i like the top view that you take of your desk, Julia. i try to do that but my picture comes out too dark so i end up with the same view all the time. i didn't notice the error in your ATC post, i guess you already edited it by the time i visited. but how funny that of all things, it was the ATC size that had a typo. they say that's the most important rule! we could have just named it a WTC (WOYWW trading card) if we all didn't have the right size!

    happy WOYWW!

  18. Did I spot a mistake in the ATC post - NO!
Thanks for telling me about the J&J bathroom - doh, I never thought of that one. So what does that tell me about the previous owners?
Thanks for the tip about the gesso - makes sense but then mine is that old ....
See you next week - not a clue about the timing - mine came on ok but what has happened to blogger - i can't find how to edit my post.

  23. Busy looking desk as usual - like the aerial view!! Was up early and traumatised to find no post went and had a shower and came back to find there were 40 in front - amuses me to think of these hordes of people poised to link to your post every Wednesday. How does itr feel to have such power? mwahahahaha (That's a maniacal laugh not a big kiss though if it doesn't bother you......). Oh well, I'm off out in the rain ands have to use public transport today - yuk! Where's your sunshine now missus? Happy WOYWW Cindyx

Lucky you for having sunshine...my desk today is so dull and boring. See the sun doesn't always shine in Oz!
Can't help with the blog issue I afraid, although I may know when my brain gets back into gear. I'm not even sure what my name is just now. One more day of hostess with the mostess and I'm FREE!

Before I go I have to thank you Julie for sending my WOYWW badge all this way. It arrived safe and sound. Such a wonderful surprise. I just need to find somewhere suitable to display it now :D
Have fun with WOYWW ~ enjoy!

  27. I hear half of the crafting world is out buying alarm clocks since you moved to an early morning posting, now if only someone could invent one that's linked to your blog and goes off as soon as the week's WOYWW is up they would make a small fortune.

I just did a test scheduled post and it shows SMT on the posting page but when I go to Tools and Format the timezone shown is (GMT +0:00) London - think the London bit is important.
    Hope this helps.

  28. when you schedule a post in the new format on the right side of the blog layout you press done when you have set the time to post and then you think you're done BUT after that you have to press the publish button in the top middle of the layout otherwise it won't work.

  47. Hi Julia, as usual on a Wednesday morning my desk is clear. I may tidy up between sessions (because of the sun and my cats) but when I am working my desk is pretty much like yours - organised chaos! I hope mine will be a hive of activity again later too.
Thank you for my WOYWW badge. It arrived safely in Spain last week - I had my son out here so didn't get around to posting thanks then. I shall wear it to my sewing group today to spark some conversation.

Personally, I would forget all about the gesso and it would be dried out-- I would need reminders all over the place not to let that happen (what will I be like in my 80s if this is how I am in my 40s???) But it does sound like a great tip to make it more opaque.

    Happy day!

  106. Hello Ms. Julia,

Hee hee. Your desk is a great start to the hopping about that I'll be doing the next several days! Isn't it funny where those stamp pads migrate to?!?

As for me, I'm bringing up the rear at #144 today. (Oh, I also tried to link up to last weeks post - I swear, I don't know what came over me.) As for scheduling posts - I have no idea how that works....

Looking forward to the ATC swap!

    Hugs,

  107. Wonderful creative mess! I love it! As for your scheduled posts...I'm guessing someone answered already, but Blogger knows about the problem and is working on it. Last I heard they didn't have a time table for a fix yet.

    ReplyDelete
  108. This is my first time participating. I have been looking at some of these posts the last few weeks though.

  109. I tried scheduling a few weeks ago, didn't work, so tried getting up early to post on woyww, that didn't work either. Next trick is to move - literally - to a new time zone. Surely that will work???

  110. Just been reading the comments WOYWWers have left today as I didn't stop to do earlier. Didn't notice the typo re the ATC's yesterday but as I know the size and have some pre-cut packs of ATC cards I probably wouldn't have anyway! Just take one out the pack... Re the scheduling, hope you got it sorted now - there was some advice way back up the list about setting the schedule time and then hitting post (new interface) which is what you need to do, it took me a while to find it the first time too. Good luck next week anyhow!!! what time are you aiming for and I'll lurk then!!

    ReplyDelete
  111. Hi Julia, I've had problems with scheduling too ... I did figure out how to do it then Blogger changed the interface so I think it's back to the drawing board :( You'd think the obvious, GMT+1, would do it but we are clearly not in on whatever is Blogger's secret method! Your desk does not disappoint today ... lots to peer at. Don't you end up with a skin on top of your gesso by leaving it open like that? Hope you sort the scheduling problem out and have a lovely week. Elizabeth x #113

  112. Hey...two weeks in a row....my posting is short .... about as short as Olaf for that matter.... and he is the problem.....or...just a second ...... maybe he's actually my answer for how to make my posts short.... hahahha... hmmm.....

  116. Thanks for the mention again Julia! I posted an update on Mum and the end of my WOYWW posting... Blogger is bad about the scheduling. I have to do it for my Scrap Our Stash postings and sometimes (Like 1 in 6-ish) it just doesn't 'take'. Tres annoying! Hopefully someone has an answer I'd love to know what might fix it too! <3 Sarah

  124. Sorry I keep getting distracted by shiny things and not reading your post. My brain is all over the place today. It must me the 40 allergic pills I took this morning. Did you hear that? Whoa. Who knew hair could talk?!??! You totally nailed the casual ambience with the soda can. If you hadn't told us it was stage, we'd have never known.

  125. Hi Julia looks like you're pretty busy and what did happen to that ray of sunshine? I work as a peripatetic teacher and have gotten wet about half a dozen times today! Looking forward to the ATC swap, have fun xx

  126. Ah, procrastination. I love it. I mean, why do today what you can put off for several weeks?

As to the thicker gesso, I've decanted some of mine into different pots: one I've thickened and the other I've added loads of water to so I can use it for washes. It's definitely my must have crafting supply.

  129. Julia,
I just loved your post this morning. I lose my glasses all the time, so it didn't make me crazy at all. I used to blame it on the cat (which is still a very real possibility) but I finally just went to the warehouse store and bought the 3 pairs for 15 bucks and have them scattered everywhere around the house. I do try to keep the prescription ones handy for work and outside the house, but occassionaly lose them as well.

Love the ATC idea; will get cracking on the concepts. Have a lovely week.

  133. I put an asterisk after my name OK. It is always a relief to read your blog and find you are not the only one to have a messy desk. After a week of visiting people who not only have tidy desks they have organized all their stuff, yours is a relief.

  134. Hi Julia!

Sorry I'm late today. It's been a bit hectic around here. I only just got to taking the photo of my desk while the kids were in their pre-bed bathtime!!

I think I need to try that trick with the gesso too, I've never heard of it before but have had the same problem. I'll give it a go, but I'm wondering how long you leave the lid off for??

    See you soon!

  135. Made it this week. I keep trying to be the last. LOl I was worriedas I couldn't see the specs just the case with an inkpad. I was also wondering about leaving the top off the Gesso. Did it leave a skin? Your desk is always interesting.

  148. Hello Julia!
I had to laugh, as I thought that the can of fizz was to make circles with, not just for ambience!!!

I am VERY jealous of your sunshine. We haven't seen any for 3 days now, and it's not in the forseeable future, either. YUCK!!!

have a wonderful week! Thank you again for hosting us all!

  150. I just read your edit. I am having the same problem with scheduled posts. Mine are not necessarily on a given hour or half hour, but whenever the time seems to fit for whatever day I'm scheduling it for. Lately, when I've tried to schedule a post, it doesn't post. It's happened twice in the past week, but thankfully I was around not long after it was supposed to go "live." Apparently another one of those lovely "improvements" in the new blogger. I'm glad I'm using the original blogger, since I get less headaches, although it hasn't helped with the scheduling.

  152. Hi Julia!

Thanks for your comment on my blog! In answer to your question there, the holding bits on the desk side are magnetic. They're actually magnetic 'knife holders' from IKEA! You're supposed to put them horizontally above your kitchen counter and then attach your knives to it. However, I've mounted them vertically and then I use bookrings on the ribbon cards to hang them on the magnets. It works a treat and keeps it all neat(ish).

I hope that answers your question? It's clear as mud to me!!

  153. Maybe I thought about leaving you a comment and didn't do it! Well here it is. I like your scalpel, it looks like a posh one. Mine keeps on snapping. Good tip about the gesso. I have the same make of gesso, and I find it a bit runny too. I notice you have a a decoupage letter in the process of being altered, which reminds me I need to finish my project off, but I wonder what your's turns out to be. Michelle x
