I love making them because they come together fairly quickly, and I love that it can be made pretty much up out of 1 sheet of 12 x 12 and leftovers from other projects. But I cannot and do not claim any credit for it...it's a well known pattern! It's made from one sheet of 12x 12" paper, folded and cut cleverly, the finished book is just under 10cm (4") square - the covers; the pages are smaller. There are a couple of really good, easy to see and follow tutorials on You Tube - search for Maze Book. On that basis I won't make you suffer a step by step here, my photography's not up to it!!
And to prove that point - here's another card from our Card Marathon day - photographed at an extraordinary angle, it looks very odd in the dimension department! Stamps by Hero Arts and Inkadinkado. Simple but fun. I wonder if my teeny obsession with Kraft material will change any time soon!
WOYWW note: I know a lot of people scan the texts of WOYWW posts because there's so much to get through...but the numbers thing has kicked up a lot of comments. As I said, the numbers on Mr Linky automatically change if I have to or am asked to remove a link for reasons of correction or corruption...so you may find your number changes by one or two, but it won't be so drastic a change as to make you difficult to find on the list! The suggestion of signing your name and turning that into an html link in the comment box has been made. You could, of course...depends on your time and patience ratios!
I'm still working through the list, started at the bottom of column 3 on Weds, so I may be some time yet and I can't explain this in every comment. My patience and time ratios would be seriously at risk!
I've got to be honest Julia and say I never actually look at the number thingy cos I just look at all the desks I have time for...some weeks thats lots of desks and others it's just the ones I follow on a daily basis....life just sometimes gets in the way :-) I love my Wednesdays and wouldn't have them any other way. You're a treasure for keeping us all going for as long as you have.
ReplyDeleteHugs,

Forgot to say....Your book is really lovely :-)

I do like that maze book but it does look quite complicated. When I have a moment, I will scan YouTube though. So far, I cannot work out how to put a link into a comment posting. A little more effort required there, I think.
ReplyDeleteI love this and will be checking out Youtube for instructions! Well done Julia!
ReplyDeleteI usually just click on the name of the person who has commented and find their blog from that...will investigate the name link direct thing...
ReplyDeleteGreat mini book and card! It's not a video, but I wrote a tutorial with folding direction illustrations if any one is interested http://ohhhsnapper.blogspot.com/2011/05/basic-maze-mini-book-aka-meander-mini.html.
ReplyDeleteHi Julia,
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful idea and creation - I'll be hopping over to U-Tube to have a look.
Thanks for sharing

Love the Maze book - I too will be checking out you-tube (once I get home tonight!)
ReplyDeleteRe the WOYWW list - I don't mind so much the numbers changing a bit - I have a gripe about all the word verifications that slow me down (lol!) but lets not start another debate.... all our patiences would run out.
Have a great weekend.
Love your maze book. Very festive colour combo.
ReplyDeletere numbering ourselves for WOYWW... I don't feel the necessity. I work round the list, sometimes in order, sometimes at random. If anyone leaves me a comment I don't have to go back to the list I just click on their name above the comment and their blog pops up. Voila! No numbering and easy peasy.

Love the Maze book - but I think I've said that before. On WOYWW - I haven't got an issue with the numbering even though I usually add my number to my signature each week - it's easy enough to find people on the list anyway. Oh, and no, I don't use the glue gun all the time - but it is really handy when you have to fix something tricky into place. Elizabeth x
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my desk Julia - there are too many entrants for me to visit and comment on everyones but I whizz through most - the boxes will go up on my blog over the next day or two - love your work
ReplyDeleteJulia, you ROCK just for getting to everyone's WOYWW posts each week anyway! You amaze me!!

Thanks for the tip.I am going to jot them all down and work my way through the tips on rubbish photos...the ones one wonders why one ever got printed lol ....leaving the ones I have to buy cans /sprays, til last. Had to give up this week ...mind got really slow going backwards lol but in all, I visited more than visited me ...so I dont feel too bad. LOVE the book and the card ...maybe I should have a go ...or should I say another go ...first time was not really a sucess.xx
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind comments re my canvas. (It actually looks better IRL and I am pleased with it.) I like that maze book but have not looked up any instructions yet. But I thought something similar could be made using envelopes, (I don't suppose that's very original), so I bought come lovely cream coloured square envelopes to play around with. Will see what happens.
ReplyDeleteHi Julia love the Maze book, great colours and the card and yes photos some times on weird angles here too.
ReplyDeleteThe numbers thing never bothers me - I always click on the name of whoever comments on my blog and eventually you find their blog without too many dramas.
I did not know about the signing and HMTL thing but like seeing someone's profile when I click on it so not sure I would do that thanks so much for all your help.
I might have a look at those maze book videos one day it looks heaps of fun, love the way you did it! Shaz in Oz.x
Oooh, love that Maze book and I hope your Kraft obsession doesn't end... it looks good on you.... *smile*

Oh you mean the A.MAZEng book. I could never... even though you say it comes together quickly. You still look like a genius to me and a conscientious one to boot. Interesting to read how ppl try to make their way through the WOYWW maze. Oh, my math grades were atrocious - nope, not a number person. Never look at numbers, not even my bank account...oh snap...is that the problem? Letters and pictures - that's what I look for.
ReplyDeleteWoot woot . . . what a fab project. Definitely going to have to check out You Tube. Thanks for sharing. xxx
ReplyDeleteOh poor hunxx
ReplyDeletenice to know that the most Godly among us struggle to visit every one as well, phew, not only me then lol
Beautiful book will have to google it, enjoy you free time, and Merry Christmas if I dont pop in before, xx
