Anniversary Fallout

So most of you realised that my empty desk was a miracle of such proportion that it wasn't even biblical. Some of you wanted to see a photo of the floor. Well, here's the thing - I don't put stuff on the floor if I can possibly avoid it. It means bending stretching and blood-rushes that frankly don't do a gal any good.I am the classic 'push back' crafter, and to achieve yesterday's photos, I pushed left, right and piled high. Had to be done..couldn't resist. AND there's a result - I tidied up and was ruthless over the scrap boxes, so the perception of mess is very much reduced. I will force you to look and admire next week, no doubt.
My diary keeping is a bit dodgy as you know, and yesterday, of all days, I was away from a computer. I haven't even reached half way around the desks yet. But let it be said that you are a fab bunch of people, and hugely generous about the idea of WOYWW - indeed some of you credit me with things that are not true. Although, as Donna rightly points out, I am an angel, with glue holding up my knickers. And a lead weight to constrict the size of my head now, too! Remember, if you didn't take part, WOYWW wouldn't work. The posts I write in between Wednesdays would be bitter and sad, and probably unread. I'd be lonely. How'm I doing on the emotional blackmail for readership thing?!

I'm a bit choked by and very chuffed with you all. Please carry on. I thank you.

  1. Aww... I KNEW you had just swiped it all out of the way... I KNEW because it's what I do every day!!! But well done with those bits... I do keep mine, and do use occasionally, but they do build up at an alarming rate don't they!!??

  3. Yes, I did wonder about the floor. It's the only way I could have accomplished anything quite so amazing as you did. :-)

Happy day, and here's to another two years!

  4. lol, I'm quite relieved. Now your package is addressed (and so is my PiF partners) and will be taken to the post office today. (I'm postally challenged, so it's always an adventure). I was laughing because the one I'm being sent is being mailed today too :D. But it gave me a chance to show you why you need the spun sugar DI :D

  5. Ah the "push back theory of tidying" one of life's greatest accomplishments :D lol I have given up tidying up my craft space, actually I'm trying to prove to hubs how badly my space needs re-vamping :D

  6. WOYWW Is like an old friend, you don't have to visit every week, it's always there for you to pop in Nose around and chat with Friends when ever you want to, no matter what time of Day or Night.
It's Fun and you get to catch up on Gossip and just enjoy seeing what your craft Buddies have been up too since last time you visited.
Wednesday's just wouldn't be the same with out WOYWW.
Thankyou for bringing us all together Julia.
Here's to loads more Good Times.

  7. Hehehe I'm there with you to not putting stuff on the floor.....I'm sure it gets further away by the day [that's what I have a Twiglet for :-) ].
What a wonderful day yesterday was....It was really manic here with sewing but I managed to pop on every blog read their posts and then left everyone a copied and pasted message [I really couldn't manage more but felt the need of touching base and reading all their wonderful posts]. What an amazing thing you started. I know what you mean by 'if we didn't join in it wouldn't exist' but I know at least two sewing sisters that have a lot to thank you for.
    Hugs,

  8. And thats not just words Julia - we really mean it. Not only have we linked up with some really lovely folk, but we have also been inspired by all the fab work we have seen and by the positive comments and vibes sent to us both. Long may WOYWW last - its up to us - so we will be here next week God willing x Jo (and I am so glad your desk is back to normal!)

  10. Its good to know 'push and shove' is still alive and well. My desk usually involves 'the pile high and move to temporary position' theory but like you the temporary postion is NEVER the floor. ES bed is the usual place as I have to sit on the chair.
Really glad I found WOYWW as the inspiration gleaned is amazing.

  11. push and shove and hide - is also a good technique of mine! but unfortunately push and shove for me wont work, got no room to shove it anywhere.

  12. I have got to 95 so far ...and I am determined to visit everyone and leave a comment ...one or two may be mised as the numbers kept changing ( not sure why) and I tend toremember the number I got to before i take a break ... a couple were a bit iffy when i sent them si not sure they registered. What a great couple of days so far ...here is to the next year to come.
BTW ...I cant use the push back method any more as it would all now end up in my bed !!! and I cant pick up from the floor with out gasping so ....I may just have to learn to put away things.
GOT YOU ....I was joking ....I have a large box in the bottom of my new unit so I can store bits until I am ready to put things away.DD is good at that lol

  13. Phew! that's a relief seeing your overflow toady does me a power of good.
I'm still getting round the blogs and will manage more with my grandees having returned to Brighton today... ahh I miss them so much. I would have been on the computer as soon as I returned form the station but we locked ourselves out if the house so had to spend the day out until our neighbour( who has a spare key returned...a lot more to it than that but all will be revealed soon.
    Will email you privately too...

  14. Ha so I guess I am forgiven?

for breaching the rules and doing the doone thang?

    Dx

I really do try to play right but I just am SOOO easily distracted and get all excited an forget myself and then cause a degree of upset amongst people much better at following the guidelines...

Now I WILL focus on the mailing of goodies tomorrow so next week will be so totally fabuloso

I cannot contain my excitement at the PIffereveals next week

  15. Now, that is more like it!! my PIF is on the way to the US as we speak let's have faith in the postal services for a speedy delivery! As the count stands tonight (134 I think) I have done the lot - though one or two just wouldn't let me in. I think blogger let me say hi on each too.... Enjoy the rest of your week, I fear mine is going downhill but this is not the time or place to expand! Hugs,

  17. Awww, bless you!

My pushbackabilities (now there's a word!) are limited at there's no wall or anything at the back of my desk. Hence lots of items topple off the end and make a mess on the floor. I keep thinking I should buy a strip of wood to glue on!

  18. I'm only left with the floor...and I'm fast running out of that LOL

  19. So funny, Julia, to see all your stuff shoved high to the sides. Good luck with your tidying! I DO appreciate the cameraderie that WOYWW creates and allows.

  20. aha! I knew the real Julia was just hiding out of range of the camera! I'm hoping to surf through as many WOYWW posts as possible this weekend.

  21. Being a push back crafting girlie it is the way to go, but you do reach saturation point and have to have a good clear out. Can't wait to see the great tidy.

  22. LOL... we knew that blank desk had to be piled up somewhere... and I guessed that to the right and left would be your preference... I get dizzy when I have to fold myself in half to pick up a brad that always dives off the desk so I tend not to stack stuff on the floor either!!

  23. Ha ha, your posts do so make me laugh, Julia! you are a bright spot in a gal's day...
Just back from root canal so need something good especially as in my rush I put out the wrong garbage bin for collection I could carry on with my days mistakes but rehashing them does not make them go away does it!! anyway have actually been here since the beginning of year not Feb as I thought shows you how much you enjoy it when you guess wrong like that!! happy today and love the "push and shove" method - do it all the time!! 25. Wonderful to see you are still there and still real! I don't so much push things back as pile them up, and then when they finally fall down it is time to shuffle them around a little!

  31. I have totally enjoyed WOYWW! I love being able to visit all those bloggers and see what they have going on. Most of the time, we only see the finished product in a pristine setting, never knowing what it took to get there! Thanks for opening my eyes and letting me know there are others like me out there who create a humongus mess to create!

  32. You are so funny! I wondered where all that stuff had gone to! Look forward to seeing how you get it all back where it belongs!

  33. Every weekend I tell myself, "I'm going to try to organize my craft room." Then when I enter my domaine, I get distracted by my most recent paper purchase, embellishments or stamp set and before you know it, I'm making an even bigger mess! I look forward to my weekends so that I have more time to "Play", not work! LOL!

  34. Great post, I needed a chuckle. With your WOYWW post I thought you were rearranging in reality.
I'd rather pile high then go to the floor...I hate floor messes!! Thanks for always commenting, would be awesome if Life wasn't quite so busy. Enjoy the week.
