That wedding was just wonderful; we had a celebratory supper with friends that evening (and watched it all again!) and drank a toast or two. Not least to being British..my word, there are moments in your life when you wish you didn't have to be huh - usually prompted by some media frenzy or another.....and then - enter the Royal Family, who have the sense to surround themselves with people who know how to organise a show. Good Lord, it was perfect. You cannot help but be left with a feeling of goodwill.I don't want to take the tiny amount of bunting down just now; it means the weekend is over and I don't want it to be...so despite Mr Dunnit having gone to work and Miss Dunnit hinting at getting up in time to actually do some revision...I'm still tootling about in holiday mode. Ignoring washing, ironing and shopping lists. It works, try it!
I'm with you ... keep the moment of pride up for as long as you can :)
ReplyDeleteYes a fabulous occasion! For once the news programmes came good and good news was the order of the day! ;)

ReplyDeleteKeep the bunting up as long as you can get away with it
wasn't it wonderful....real tear jerky stuff and oh yes I am still in wedding celebration mode too...big hugs kath xxx
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Julia, we really know how to celebrate in this country, and the wedding was so perfect. Kate's family also did her proud, with their relaxed dignity. The couple looked so happy with each other, and the little comments we could lipread showed their real affection for each other. Let's hope the press now have the sense and kindness to leave them in peace now.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post and beautiful party room you created. It was fabulous, and I joined you in celebration at 3 am on Friday across the pond. It was a marvelous event, and I'm glad the Royal couple is SO happy. It makes me believe the Royals really DO still have a chance. And your card is perfect, because it says it ALL.
ReplyDeleteLove the bunting and I'm all for extending the weekend for as long as possible! Whatever it takes...
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely to have a reason to be proud of being British, isn't it? Shame the times are so few and far between! You keep your bunting up... I still have Easter stuff out... LOL Great sentiment on your card... may borrow that!! ;)
ReplyDeleteI say Keep Calm and Be British...well on this comments page to start with. I too thought it was all just fabulous, sincere, uplifting and exactly what folk in this country needed. A real love story... Sew the bunting onto your PJs and have a scone for me...(do you say 'scowne' or 'scon' Julia???!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy holiday Monday,
Sarah
It was lovely, although my OH had a winge about the minor royals having to use minibuses, he said as he was paying for it they could have had something better!!! We had a lovely day after the stess of baking over 100 cupcakes we joined our neighbours for a street party and like you don't really want the weekend to finish. Hugs Pam x
ReplyDelete:)
ReplyDeleteyou guys do know how to celebrate...
hehe, i read one time that at christmas the office parties are so out of control that the british have busses/shuttles that drive people from place to place which are charmingly referred to as 'vomit comets'
not sure how true that is,
but please don't dispel that myth for me.
it's just too silly.
Oh definately keep the bunting up!! It has been a fab weekend...one of the highlights for me was seeing one of the guys I was in school with in the abbey!!
ReplyDeleteIt has been a brilliant weekend, so proud of being British right now, so wish it could last.
ReplyDeleteI hope the Royal Couple are left in peace to enjoy their married life in private.
Great sentiment on the card :)
ReplyDelete& yes it was a fab weekend - even the weather behaved itself!
It is wonderful to have a happy event to share with the world!
ReplyDelete*smile*
Love the "happiness is like jam......sentiment. That WOYWW jam is the easiest to spread!!
ReplyDeleteHa ha Ha,
ReplyDeletemay I refer you to JoZarts blog? if she chooses to publish my comment?
I'd rather be human than nationalistic - truly....in that direction happiness for everyone lies...
but I also love a pretty dress and good shoes, and a PArrtehy
so there is hope for me yet...
Dx
It was a great occasion, it also gave me an excuse to sit for a few hours & knit, I'm proud to say that I cast off the back of my jumper dress. Leave the bunting, it looks lovely. Keep ignoring that housework, its a tough job but you're doing well :D

I enjoyed the whole day. I sat watching this wonderful event, wasn't the news programs wonderful as well, all about weddings and people being nice to each other. Npt one bit of bad press for the day. I am so happy for them all. What a wonderful program marvellous day for every one.
ReplyDeleteLove Dawn xx
It was a lovely wedding and like you I don't want the holidays to be over but I have been hit hard this morning when the alarm went off and I had to go to work - painful!!!! Eh...still I love that card - happiness does spread!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Cardarian
There was monster coverage of the big event here too, in the colonies! I must say she made a very beautiful bride, probably the nicest I have ever seen. In our climate, many brides tend to go for a strapless number, regardless of their shape and size, which often looks apalling.
ReplyDeleteLove your "jam" stamp!
Thank you Brits - Such civility and class - Hope springs eternal again.
ReplyDeleteI am late visiting this week. Put my photos on and forgot to link. Duh
ReplyDeleteI loved the wedding and your bunting. Kewl
