Dusting off the previous...

I was looking for a self healing cutting mat yesterday. It took an unnecessarily long time and I confess that I looked in the same place more than once, convinced that it was where I last saw it. It wasn't, of course. This small search caused me to think that I ought to blog about that phenomenon. You know, the one where everything has a place until it doesn't. And so, here I am, figuratively dusting the blog off and literally as always, in a state of untidy.

Not my desk, but the 'swing right' view. That'll do for now!
For three months, my desk has been Miss Dunnit's workspace, all screen and keyboard, even headsets. I think if my desk could talk, it would be welcoming back the old paper, scissors glue and ink! I didn't miss it. A sabbatical has been had, I think. I can't claim to be refreshed and raring to go, full of ideas and intentions, good grief no. I am more than happy that I enjoyed the stamp-colour-cut-stick process though, and as for finding everything where it should be, well....I suspect the more time I spend at my desk, the better my memory for where I last saw things will become, for as proven by the cutting mat, a lot of things aren't where I thought I last put them!

  1. Lovely to see you. Yeah, I feel your pain - when Dear Son was living here, both he and his cat took over my space. Now he is living with his Pretty Fiancee, I kinda miss the chaos. Oh well. Looks a lovely layout there on the mat. Can't tell - is that the magnetic one? Still have mine and still like it quite a lot :D
Another week of a quick scoot round before knitting WOYWW!

  2. It was fantastic to see your name on the linky list this morning, made me happy! I bet you enjoyed having Miss D home for all that length of time and giving up your desk was a small sacrifice, I feel the same when Owen is back and does the same thing. Did you ever find your cutting mat? Have fun whether it’s just restoring order or actually crafting, does the soul good xx

  3. Hi Julia, you're not the only one that spends ages looking for stuff that should be in a certain place but isn't there and it is so annoying. I have got to the stage where I really need to sort stuff again or go mad! Take care and have a lovely woyww, Angela x6x

  4. When your search for the mat ends I bet it is not as long as my search was (way back) for some mica tiles. I think it stretched into years! No kidding. By the time I found them I didn't know what to do with them and now I don't know where they are. Still don't know what to do with them!
Julia, it was so lovely to see your comment and find you on the list. Then when I came to your blog it was like old times and i was filled with emotion. I'm a silly old B aren't I?
Glad you have had DD with you for so long, how wonderful for you all. Bet it seemed as if she had never left.
Well, I wonder which way you will go - tidy or craft? For my own selfish reasons I hope it is the latter and we see more of you on here. You have been missed you know.
    Hope you three are alright.

  6. So happy to see you🤗. My usual problem is I “know” where everything is, until I want to use it, then somehow it’s not where I remember putting it.🤣. Happy WOYWW. Angela #14

  8. Good to see you Julia. I had to smile at your missing mat - I found mine after a 6 month search, it had been slid behind a cupboard to keep the studio tidy. Enjoy getting back into your crafting, I'm loving that beautiful, rich purple paper.

  9. Even though I think my crafting stuff is fairy organised, I still seem to spend time reaching for things I need, some things just disappear! Good to hear you are gradually getting there. Your layout looks lovely. - happy WOYWW - Michelle #15 x

  10. So good to see you here again, Julia. I’m sure there are black holes that our crafting tools and cutting boards slide off into! I hope you find it and other forgotten delights soon.
    Take care and happy WOYWW

  11. I think it's a bit like Toy Story where our supplies come to life when we are not in the room and they move about of their own accord. T'is the only reasonable explanation! Glad to see you back and loving the scrapbook page there. We ended up in the bar this week as there was a mix up with a group painting little figurines! Have a sunny week, Lisa-Jane #10

  12. Hello Julia, so nice to see you here today. You're not the only one that's been on a break. I've had time out - rather a lot of it recently. I'm also good at losing things. Trouble is I've not got organised enough to say something has a place. I've been looking for the electric power cable for my sewing machine for the best part of two years! Not that I'm thinking it will take you as long to locate your cutting mat. Have a lovely week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #18

  13. So good to see you Julia - I am sure we have all missed you so good when you can drop in. Thinking of asking for reminiscences of WOYWW to celebrate week 800 (no postage involved) so it would be really cool if you make it. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah
